@Metaldragon868 You mentioned that growth bonuses applied to level ups. Does that mean each magic point we spend gets a 20% increase because we chose the path of the Soul? If so, does the fraction carry over to the next level? Say we level up and add 1 point into magic, we get 1.2 points instead of 1. That's rounded down. If we level up again and again and keep adding points, would we eventually get 5 Magic from spending 4 stat points or do fractions not carry over?

I'm afraid I wasn't as clear as I wanted to be.

I guess nobody cares about our family. I think it's reasonable that Elsa would rethink her relationship with her parents.(considering her reaction when her mom almost got hurt, although I might be wrong about that.) If not now, maybe later. Also, the Power of Love buff stacks the more people we have,so it'd be great if we could add the parents to that list too.

I think someone already mentioned this but:
We're pretty sure our family's fine, and there's absolutely nothing we can do if they died in the intervening time between our 'death' and now/when we wake up. We'll get that information as soon as we wake up anyway.
So like, asking questions unrelated to our family doesn't mean we don't care.

I'm one of those early frozen fans and I quite enjoyed this quest so far. The stat rolls do bring to mind a magical R9k

From what I see Elsa is pretty close to developing an Anna-centric morality system. It's the kind of thing which overrides the realist point of view. The path that cultist showed us would have given us incredible powers, but we'd lose Anna in the process. Similarly we'd reject that destiny because a life without Anna is a life not worth living for.

Alright, I'm up now.

So... there's a fuck ton of stuff to go over and I probably won't hit all of it.

Ok, fight scenes, I'm getting mixed responses, but it seems to be either "I don't really like fight scenes", "I don't care about fight scenes", or, "I liked the fight scene". If you don't like fight scenes in general, too bad, they're happening. I enjoy writing them. Because of the mixed response, I'm just more or less keep it as is. Besides, this is actually what was voted for when you picked Angels and Demons. Fight scenes come with the territory.

However, some people may have implied they wanted more dice rolls in the fights? If you guys want that, I'll do it, but I'll be rolling most of the dice off-site so I don't clutter the site with 25 dice rolls. At the same time, that was kind of the vibe for God's and Kings. Angels and Demons is more Pass/Fail and Cause and Effect. Gods and Kings is more, "Let the dice gods decide" with a smattering of munchkining the fuck out of your roll buffs.

Also, the guards died because they were average mooks while the Assassins were above average mooks. And they were a little unnatural. Notice how you father stabbed one in the back and he kind of just ignored the gaping hole where his stomach used to be.

They all died to you and the Hero Unit because, well, you guys are Hero Units and have special shenanigans to counter theirs. At the same time, the guy from Solgren is heads and shoulders better than you. He's nearly hit the apex of his growth, he's got some more to go, but he's actually an adult, unlike you who still has a long way to go before you hit your apex. I mean, sure, you got more potential than him, but for the moment he'd kick your ass up and down the street without breaking a sweat. And the Hero Unit is a special case. He's got his own special stuff going on with him. Yours is still far and away much weirder than his is, but it's there and it's why he kicks so much ass.

Plus there are some other circumstances going on that you weren't aware of.

And then there was a question about growth bonuses. Basically, the rounding comes after the % based buffs. Also, the buff to Soul-related growth rate is 100%, which includes magic, charisma, and endurance.

There might have been something else? Maybe? I can't think of it at the moment.

In any case, the vote. I'd love to tell you that I'm calling it, but I can't.

It's tied.

The first two questions are, by far, in the lead. After that, its gets muddy. The third question is a dead tie between these two.

  2. [X] Can you help me control my Hunger?

So yeah. Yall have to sort that out before I can call it either way.

Good luck with that.

I'll break the tie, and as an aside, fight scenes are awesome, and I'm glad you like writing them, because I like reading it. The vibe you have works without being cluttered with numbers.

Also, I want to investigate this cult with the Hero Unit from Solgren, and 'a crow told me in my near death fever dream' isn't a very reliable source.

I'm actually surprised as many people are picking Weather Level 2 as there are. I would have thought you guys would have ignored it. I actually tried to make it a bit more appetizing just so you wouldn't.

Not that that's a bad thing. Weather is one of the skills that can become very useful once you get the levels for it.

Anyways, just to give everyone a chance I'll wait two hours before calling it.

Similarly we'd reject that destiny because a life without Anna is a life not worth living for.
Personally, I chose to ditch it because of who offered it and how. The cultist smiled as we devoured her and told us that we are an inhuman abomination that has no place among people and that we should embrace it.
"To feed Milady? To aid her in her path to ascension? To be the first step upon your dark road?" She gives you a water smile. "I can think of no greater honor."
[...]
You gather your strength, your magic, your cold pit within. You look into her watery red eyes filled with pain, pride, and fear. You hear her say her last words.

"Take me, Milady. Become what you were meant to be."
Even when all we wanted was to get away from her, she tried to get the last word in, and basically fed herself to us while we were horrified by what we were doing. At this point the rejection for me was mostly a 'screw you, lady, you are messed up and I will have no part in this!'

Those are the winners. The next chap should be easy enough to write up.

...Should.

In any case, here's a couple rolls to see if anything fancy happens.

Edit: 24 and 12?

Man, you guys are so lucky you didn't get those rolls last time or you'd be down a family member.

Human: INT growth + 100%

Speech roll: 24

Bare pass

"Who are you?"
You blurt out without even an inch of tact. The instant you do, you realize your error.

The bird just looks at you for a moment. You can't honestly tell whether it's amused or insulted. People, you can read. Birds, on the other hand…

"I am...a vassal of La Dama del Lago Oscuro." It finally says, it's green eyes burning brightly in the sockets. Like twin rings of azure flame, they burned with a dark and mysterious passion. "Though you may call me Infierno"

You frown. You'd never heard of that. But the name itself seems to carry some kind of weight. You also weren't exactly the most informed person in the world, so maybe the mystery was your fault. You'd have to do some investigation.

"I am her eyes and ears, and she's taken an interest in your peculiarities."

Speaking of which…

"Why do I have these powers?" You ask, frowning at the strange bird.

"Hmm," the bird considered, "You are...a conduit, you could say, for a greater power. One that has, by chance or by design, made you its connection to the mortal realm."

You swallowed nervously, "Greater power?" You mutter.

"Indeed," The bird nods.

Well, that doesn't sound good. You worry as a shiver of fear crawls down your spine. The way the bird phrased it gave you the image of some great whale or leviathan of the deep tethered to your soul. It would certainly explain this hunger.

And on that note…

"Can you help me with my Hunger?" You ask, a measure of pleading in your voice.

"...Well, I suppose I could petition my lady to provide you a few sacrifices now and then." It suggested.

You almost gagged.

"What? No!" You exclaim, "I don't want you to give me people to eat!"

"Would it help if they were willing?" It asked.

Your mind flashed back to the lady who tried to take you away. The way she basically fed herself to you.

You shivered.

"No!" You shout, "I don't want…"

"I don't want to eat people." You admit in a much smaller voice. Even just saying it gives your previous a kind of weight in reality, it made them real, as opposed to some disturbing fever dream.

"Hmm...strange," The bird comments, "I thought human souls would be quite filling for you."

You flinch, the undeniable truth of the matter hitting you hard. You can't help but remember the sensation that came from eating them. The undeniable satisfaction, the delectable taste…

"Ah, I see," It nods, "It's a moral issue, is it not?"

"It's wrong!" You blurt out.

"...perhaps," It says slowly, "Or perhaps you've only a small piece of a much large picture. Perhaps you're taking things out of context?"

"What do you mean?" You frown, confused.

"Ah ah ah, I said three questions," It stops you with a raised wing.

You scowl, "Stupid bird."

You got the impression it was smirking at you.

Hard to do with no lips, but it seemed to manage just fine.

"In any case, the short answer is yes, but you probably wouldn't like it," The bird continues, "Much like you wouldn't like having fresh meals delivered to you."

The way it said "fresh meals' in your mother's own voice made your stomach churn in disgust.

"The Longer answer is quite a bit more complicated."

"How complicated?" You press.

"That's another question," It mocks.

"Just answer the question!" You growl

"Nope!" It chirps happily.

You let out an incoherent and strangled cry out into the cold air. You felt like you were being toyed with.

"Though, I will say that if you really want help with your hunger, the best source would likely from a good deal of introspection." It said on a more serious note.

You blink, "Intro-what?"

It opened its beak to add something, but you stopped it with a scowl, "right, right, no more questions."

You swore that it smugly grinned at you.

You were really beginning to hate this bird.

"In any case, I was merely here to check up on you for My Lady's wishes." It continued. "It's about time you woke up, miss."

"Woke up?" You repeat, confused.

"You're dreaming right now, young miss. And you've been asleep for a long time." It answered

"You need to wake up"

Luck: 12

And then suddenly everything is bright. It feels like molten needles are being jabbed into your eyes. You raise your arms to try and block out the rays

It's then that you realize that something is bright. Something is bright when you had just been in a dark forest without a sky. Something as bright as the sun.

Forcing your way through the pain, you force your eyes open, and see, to your amazement, you are somewhere completely different.

You are in a bedroom, and the sun is peeking out through the window on the left. The bedroom itself is covered in frost and a thick blanket of snow, an odd sight to say the least.

Your attention is stolen when the door is forced open through the frost and snow.

"Good morning miss Elsa," a maid says as she backs her way into your room, a tray of food and books in her hands, "I hope you had a pleasant ni-"

She stops suddenly the moment her eyes meet yours. Her eyes expand to the size of dinner plates as her jaw drops. Complete and total surprise is written all over her face like a deer in the hunt.

"Hel" Is all you manage to get out before she bolts out the door screaming.

You blink.

"Well...that was strange." You comment, not sure what to think about that.

Looking around, you can't help but think that this room sort of looks like it'd been exposed to months of Arendelle's winter without care. Then again, you could sort of do that in a bored afternoon, so that didn't exactly mean much.

What did was the trail that had been carved out of the snow leading from the door to your bed, as well as the large chair, ottoman, and stand beside you.

Seems like someone made an effort you think, glancing through your long strands of blonde hair.

And long they are, you realize with a start, pulling them up from the snow covered bed. It looked like you'd gained about a foot of length in them. They also seemed paler than before.

Before, there was still something of a hint to the golden color you'd had as a child. Now, it seemed all but gone.

"...how long have I been asleep?" You wonder, a sick feeling of dread pooling in your gut.

Suddenly, your door opens again, and through it comes…

A/n: Alright, well apparently soon means now.

and this is a really short chapter, not much to say about it except it marks the end of the prologue.

The 24 on your speech roll meant you barely passed, so I gave you bare minimum answers. If you had gotten even a 40 I would have elaborated more. If you'd gotten a major pass, 70 or more, I would have answered the secondary questions of "What the hell do you mean?", and if you'd gotten a crit I'd have even answered a fourth one.

But you didn't so I didn't and this is all you got.

However, you can always take what you've learned and do some research. Something you'll be able to do shortly.

that's it.

We almost lost her and we haven't even talked to her yet. Guessing that, like the last time, the bird thought it'd be a good idea to somehow mark our body and that's what had the maid terrified? Loving the idea of a parasitic space whale giving us trauma inducing powers for their own nefarious ends though!

[X] The Nobleman from Solgren

I am too curious about him!

This italian vibe is intriguing...

La Dama del Lago Oscuro means the Lady of the Dark Lake, while Inferno means Hell. Not exactly cheerful company, but that's who we have to work with.

We are soul-bound to some eldritch abomination/Evil God, beautiful!

Finally... how long did we sleep? Hair a foot longer is quote concerning on that front!

From a narrative perspective it would make the most sense for Anna to be the one checking in on us the most. It would also warm my heart with adorable character interactions so there's that.

On the other hand, we might need some answers here. Not to mention we probably won't have many opportunities to talk with the Hero from Solgren, so I'm tempted to choose him.

[X] The Nobleman from Solgren

Simply because we can see Anna later but I'm not sure if we'll have another opportunity to talk with him like this.

[X] The Nobleman from Solgren

Too tempted to pass this up.

Also @Metaldragon868 what's your Omake policy? And (indirectly) related to that, what would Elsa have looked like if we rolled perfectly for all of our initial stats? This assumes all character building choices were the same, or as similar as possible.
