"Its something that we should have learned years ago... how to not panic over a hug. And you really deserve more hugs in your life!"

"Speaking of panicking," you think as you realize what you just said and resist the urge to do just that.

Harry looks ready to bolt as you continue, "I was hoping that... maybe... we could... practice."

Your face is burning as you quickly add, "just hugging and maybe dancing! As friends! Just friends!"

Oddly Harry seems to relax a bit as you say that. "We're still too young for more than that" you squeak.

Its Harry's turn to blush as he replies, "I... I think I'd like that... To practice I mean..."

On impulse you take a step towards your friend and pull him into a hug. "That went well" you think as you feel him hesitantly wrap his arms around you.
Yes! Adorkable moment FTW!

This probably worked out about as well as I could have imagined; proof that good communication can cover a multitude of problems. Better yet, we got this conversation out of the way before Hermione's dad could get into Protective Dad Mode and really scare Harry off. Even better, we made sure to properly include all the details when writing home, so Hermione's parents are thinking of Harry not as the boy who wants to take their little girl, but as the abuse victim whom their daughter is trying to rehabilitate; that, even apart from the talk with Harry, could pay serious dividends during the Christmas holidays and down the line.

Maybe next year we can have Hermione and Harry sign up for dance lessons? For now all we have to do is show some discipline and make sure not to back down, or, just as bad, try to push Harry too fast in a direction he's not really ready for.

Yes, with all of SV's powers combined, we can properly emulate a normal teenage girl! :V

I don't think that Hermione's parents will act like a sitcom stereotype from the US.

Last resort, find out about the Yule Ball before the start of year 4 and use avoiding embarrassment there as a good reason to learn dancing.

Wait wait wait, what's even happening?

Last thing I member is something about Hermione Stark and me bitching about winter Quidditch.

I'm on a Train 1
Event - I'm on a Boat Train

As much as you wish you could spend some time reveling in the reduced awkwardness following your talk with Harry, the last day before winter break is spent in a frenzy or packing for your trip home. The chaos is made worse by the fact that everyone seems to be leaving this year. Honestly if it weren't for the snow on the ground outside you'd think it was summer break instead of winter.

Eventually though, you find yourself standing next to Harry and Neville on the platform waiting to board the Hogwarts Express facing the age old question of where to sit. Harry mentions looking for Ron and the Twins while Neville just wants a quiet ride before his grandmother drags him back into the wide world of wizarding politics. As the debate rages you spot Sally-Ann boarding a carrage near the front of the train. You could probably sit with her if you wanted to as well.

Do you...

Was aiming for that and I guess I got it.

Its not like he went out and bought a shotgun specifically so he could polish it while having a "friendly chat" with Harry :V

Assuming the tournament is still at Hogwarts. I will admit that a lot of the background international politicking disappeared with my notebook and old HDD but I've reassembled enough to hopefully keep things interesting.

Looks like searching for Sally-Ann is pretty far ahead. Going to leave this open for a few more hours since I have a family dinner to go to tonight.

[] Search for Sally-Anne

Harry and Neville may be your two best friends but sometimes you just need some girl time. You quickly let the boys know and leave them to their debate. You'll catch up with them at the station anyway.

You quickly make your way through the crowd towards the carriage Sally-Anne boarded. Once inside you're reminded of the single greatest disadvantage of being a second year, you're shorter than almost everyone. Height impaired as you are, you duck into a nearby compartment to wait for the crowd to dissipate before resuming your search.

As the door closes behind you hear a voice say, "Another one... Can't we have a team meeting in peace for once."

"Wait I know her," another voice replies, "that's Granger. She's a reserve for the Ravenclaw team."

"Great, a spy!"

You turn and see an angry sixth year in a Gryffindor robe glaring at you with a small number of other Gryffindors behind him.

Do you...
