Biography:

Derannic Advisor Available

An adventurer, Giséle, has come to our court to offer her services to the Akal. She claims to be a former captain of Deranne. As a fanatic of the Moon Party, she could no longer tolerate the political situation in Lencenor. She speaks fondly of the ancient and most-noble House of Silmuna, the Grand Dukes of Dameria, and curses the imperial lords who betrayed them. Aside from these mutterings, she declares herself well-versed in the art of drilling and leading troops in the Castanorian style, especially when it comes to sieges. However, said talents are not cheap to hire.

Name: Tymian.
Race: Human (28)
Birthplace: Corvuria.
Rank/Occupation: Champion of Gelkalis.
Location: Gelkalis.

Biography: Born from peddlers and beggars, poverty and crime made him into an orphan at an early age. Tymian's life was destined to end in tragedy just as so many others find their way into the shadowy streets of Corvuria. However, this was not to be.
Traveling knights headed for the promise of adventure and glory, took in the child as one of their own. Bound to the troubling frontiers of Escann, these adventurers made for Tymian a new home within their ranks. As the years passed and Tymian grew up, he found himself within the Sword Covenant and was sworn in by the great Nostras síl Estallen. In this hero, Tymian found a father figure, mentor and shining example of all that was virtuous in men. Together, they shared tales of the great virtues of Adenica and its patron deity Adean. No longer a square or an errand boy, the young knight earned his naming in the increasingly bloody clashes leading to the Greentide. Sensing the impending doom, Nostras dismissed his adoptive son barely a few days before the terrible Battle of Rottenstep.

Tymian spent the next year wandering what was left of Escann, heartbroken and looking for a new purpose in life. Heading south, he found nothing but monsters, bandits and all manner of evildoers. Some of these spoke of a walled city past the Serpentspine Mountains, named Gelkalis, full of riches and ripe for the taking.
While Tymian has not yet fully understood his purpose in the world, he has resolved to defend the people of Gelkalis and bring the virtues of Adean to their beleaguered souls.

Indeed, Uman I szal-Gelsibir, is the old Akal of the city and he can hardly dismiss any sword offered in for free. Being of honest soul, valiant heart and skilled arm, Tymian has become one of the most prominent defenders of the city.

Someone already got Jaddar noooo
Jaddar is a NPC. But you can have a Jaddari PC in one of the nations detailed in the OP. Plus Azka Sur.

I was unsure if I wanted to necessitate Discord participation (still am really) but I've properly added the link to the OP, along with the description for Azka Sur.

I'm going to keep apps open for a few more days in case anyone else wants to get in, but overall I'm really happy with the response this has gotten so far, the enthusiasm is real exciting!

Is there any chance the dwarves will be playable?

Further down the line? Absolutely. The plan is for the first wave of apps to be concentrated in a specific area with broadly similar and mutually exclusive goals, and then after some consolidation and attrition we'll keep things fresh with another series of apps with a broader selection, including Kheterata and some Dwarf holds.

Or at least, that's the current plan, as always things might change between now and then.

Name: Helia Hydiranyakin
Race: Harpy
Age: 26
Birthplace: Hydiranyalen (On the border of Harpylen, Irriliam, and Varamhar)
Rank/Occupation: Adventurer; Aspirant Advisor
Location: Aqatbar

Biography: There are few opportunities in the Harpy Hills for the eighth daughter of a matriarch. Fewer still if she does not wish to engage in hunting down mates and plundering the neighbors. No matter, all the better for her to make her own name! Hydiranyalen once lived alongside the humans and dwarves of Bahar peacefully, thus her mother and her elven consort taught her how to speak the tongue of the humans. Time to put it to use! Vast knowledge was stored in the Great Library of Aqatbar and mates had always spread rumors of the great city of Anbenncost. How much had the harpies of Bulwar missed out on? How much could she learn and bring back? If she were to Hunt, it would be for knowledge and to see the world. Not for something as short-sighted as mates (ick!).

Tragically, after five days, Helia's romp west was cut short by the horde of goblins flowing out of the Serpentreach and sweeping into Bahar. What was initially a tour to see the lands of her foremothers became a desperate struggle to earn the trust of the humans around her in hopes of fighting her way west to Aqatbar. Luckily, the bonds forged on the battlefield prevented her immediate death at the hands of the city guard and her comrades-in-arms (managing to convince everyone along the way to not stab the viscious harpy in the middle of the city) made their way to the docks in search of escape. There, they found exiled Kheratans from Elizna, reenacting Castan's exodus to Escann, this time to aid in the Greentide. Over the course of the next decade, Helia spent her youth on the frontlines of a war greater than she could have ever known. The blood and gore of the battlefield filled her sight one day. Ancient libraries and campfire stories filled the next (there's so much green everywhere! I've never seen this much grass! And look at all those trees!). With her experience far from home sated by ten years of adventuring, she bid farewell and good luck to her comrades still waging war against the orcs and made her way to Aqatbar (it's fallen to the goblins? And they're kinda nice? What!?).

Back in Bulwar, Helia has many opportunities ahead of her. Should she return to her homeland and grant her experience and services to her Matriarch and fellow harpies? Perhaps the conflict in Bahar holds other possibilities for her future. Whatever the case, it's good to be back!

Name: Jenthib Landshark
Race: Goblin
Age: 24
Birthplace: Serpentsreach
Rank/Occupation: Clanboss
Location: Bielovcimestin
Biography: Love will be the death of Jenthib Landshark if his neighbours don't shank him first. For his love be unto an earthquake and his knees the cavern floor, trembling and shaking. Her odour be overpowering, making his head light and stomach empty. When she sways, so does he dance, spinning and lurching until he is spent. As he collapses so does she embrace him, her cool touch soothing skin scorched by an alien sun. Wine-dark are the arms that cradle him, and as his sight goes dark, he dreams of a home long lost and never to be found-

Jenthib abruptly awakens spreadeagled on the golden sands of South Overmarch. Surrounded is he by wreckage and dead crew, yet to his grief, he is very much alive. Turning towards the endless seas, does he curse that cruel mistress and vows that one day she will drag him under and never let go.

The Crossing of the Gulf Ouourd during the Exodus was a deadly experience for many a goblin, but sadly only a near-death experience for Clanboss Jenthib Landshark. Nearly drowning has created an obsession with his cruel mistress the Sea, his boldness turning into a romantic fascination with death via aquatic-related causes. Lovesick and seasick, the Clanboss orders ship after ship to be constructed even as the likelihood of enemy invasion by land grows. Death is most assuredly coming for Landshark on all sides and Jenthib will respond in the only way he knows how.

Set Sail and (preferably) Die.

Round 2 of Applications OPEN
So, it's been a while, but the game is in a state where it can do with some more players. Firstly, the nations of Jadd, Kheterata, Nirat, and Zokka are now OPEN for player applications.

I also want to introduce some ground rules-for right now, if you want to app as an Adventurer or Subordinate, it must be to a kingdom with less than three players. Major NPCs can be claimable, but I would like to review any applications for them first to see if they're suitable, and recommend doing a back up just in case.

Lastly, I would appreciate it if we could get a player for Sareyand.

Name: Jasiéne Elaiénó
Race: Harpy
Age: 43 (born 1403.1.4 AA)
Birthplace: Larfira, Far Salahad (translation: "Peak of the Dawn")
Rank/Occupation: Matriarch of the Elaiénni Matriarchy
Location: Larfira
Historical background
While the Firanyan Harpies of the Harpy Hills have seen numerous Queendoms, there has only ever been one Queendom for the Siadúnan Harpies in Far Salahad: the Siadanlén Queendom. This Queendom, established by Ištara Ivoryfeather in the early 800s AA, unified the Siadúnan Harpies and forged from them a realm which stretched from Azka-Sur in the west and covered large parts of Rahen in the east. It maintained a light touch with its subjects and tributaries, allowing it to persist for some two centuries. It might well have lasted longer, if not for the arrival of the Phoenix Legions.

Though Siadanlén was shattered by Jaher's Legions, the Siadúnan Harpies were not truly conquered by the Phoenix Empire. It is, after all, rather difficult to subjugate a race which lives atop mountaintops and can simply fly away from would-be administrators.

However, though the Harpies remained independent from the Phoenix Empire - even though Elven maps might say otherwise - the Siadanlén Queendom would not return, for the Siadanlén Queen and her designated heir had both fallen trying to fight off the Elven Legions and in the ensuing succession crisis, the Siadúnan harpies fractured into many matriarchies and flocks.

Today, only three Matriarchies worth the name remain: Siadán, Mulén, and Elaiénna, which have been locked into an uneasy balance for about a century and a half, since neither could hope to take on the other two and still prevail. Of course, some matriarchs still tried to do so, with the second-to-latest attempt being the Muléni matriarch who ruled about 40 years ago.

She launched an offensive and managed to seize large swaths of Siádan lands and even held on to it for several years, but was defeated when Elaiénne entered the war on Siadán's side.

The latest attempt at unifying the Matriarchies? That was some 10 years ago, when Elaiénna attacked Siadán.

A Sister's Overreach
This offensive was spearheaded by Jasiéne's sister, Iára heir to Elaiënne and the most gifted military mind for generations. For years, she had been drilling Elaiénna's forces and taking them on raids, to build up a force that would let her realize her ambition: to subjugate the other Siadúnan Harpies and elevate Elaiénna from a Matriarch to a Queendom. At the time, the matriarch's health was ailing and Iára was already matriarch in all but name.

However, her ambitious nature meant that she would not be content to simply be crowned as the Matriarch of Elaiénne when her mother died. No, she wanted to crown herself as the new Queen of all Siadúnan Harpies, and for that, she would need to seize the Crest of Ištara from Siádan.

The Crest of Ištara was a gem-adorned golden crown created by the very first Queen of Siadúnan, and ever since its creation, Queens of Siadúnan and subsequently Matriarchs of Siáden have added their feathers to the Crown on their ascension, creating a fabulous rainbow trail, which spoke to the long and storied lineage they could lay claim to.

To seize the Crest of Ištara and start her conquests, Iára launched an attack on Siádan and achieved several minor victories over Siádan in the first few months of the war, and launched a successful raid against Siadúnaiún, where she managed to seize the Crest of Ištara. High off her victory and preoccupied with dreams of her impending coronation, Iára was overconfident and distracted, and fell for a trap laid by the Siadán matriarch.

While Iára escaped with her life and the Crest of Ištara, half her forces were slain.

It was fitting, then, that the conclusion of the war would see Elaiénne lose half of its territory, but such an outcome would have been seen as a miracle in the aftermath of said battle, as the Siádan army was bearing down on Larfíra.

Rise to Power
There, a single Harpy flew out to meet them: Jasiéne.

Unlike her sister, Jasiéne had no skill at commanding armies, nor could she wield magic to smite down the approaching Siádan army. She did not even come bearing arms, having only one thing in her hands: the Crest of Ištara, which she had taken from her sister while Iára was sleeping. Guards had been posted to keep the Crest safe, naturally, but Jasiéne needed naught but a few minutes to convince them that Iára had failed Elaiénne and that if they did not help her, Larfíra would be overrun in a matter of days.

Jasiéne was swiftly accosted by Siádan warriors, with whom she smiled and joked as if they were the best of friends, before asking if they could help her return the Crest to its rightful owner.

Suspicious of trickery, Jasiéne's wings were bound and she was brought to the Matriarch Astárta of Siádan. Here, Jasíene asked - nay, pleaded - for permission to return the Crest, apologized most profusely for Iára's actions, and then explained that with her mother's ill health and her sister's disgrace, Jasiéne had been proclaimed as the new heir, has been given the Crest, and has then been sent to negotiate a cessation of hostilities.

When Astárta archly asked why she would accept a negotiated surrender rather than seizing all of Elaiénna by spearpoint, Jasiéne laughed mirthfully, bowing her head to the matriarch in a show of slight submission, and politely requested that she not be treated like a child. After all, while she was not yet the matriarch and did not yet grasp the many intricacies of rulership and politics, even she knew that an assault on Larfíra would be a bloody and drawn-out affair and that even if Astárta managed to seize the city before Múlen took advantage of the distraction and began besieging the Siádun capital, the Elaiénni army was still strong enough to inflict significant casualties from a fortified position.

Which would, Jasiéne concluded off-handedly, lead to Mulén trying to finish what they started 50 years ago, since Siádan would be weakened from the assault and this time, there would be no Elaiénne to act as a counterweight to Múlen. Then she tilted her head as she peered at the Crest of Ištara, shook her head, and apologized for her inattentiveness. She was, she explained, just trying to remember what colour the feathers of the Muléni matriarch had, as she was trying to picture a world where Siáden did press the attack.

It was hardly the height of subtlety, but the thought was alarming enough to Matriarch Astárta that she eventually agreed to end the war, though not even Jasiéne's silver tongue could have ended the war without concessions, leading to Elaiénne losing half its territory... as well as Iára being handed over to Siádan.

When Jasiéne returned to Larfíra with news of her deeds, she was hailed as a hero despite the territorial losses.

Iára, naturally, vigorously protested the peace treaty and tried to mount a coup. Before the war, the army was loyal enough that she would have had no trouble seizing power. After the disastrous battle, however, her forces had lost confidence in her, and aside from a small group of hardcore loyalists who were quickly overwhelmed, the Elaiénni army stood with Jasiéne.

Thus, Iára was handed over to Siáden and would eventually be publicly executed in Siadúnaiún, while Jasiéne was proclaimed the new heir.

The Union
Mere months later, Jasiéne became Matriarch at the age of 34 after the death of her mother, but while Elaiénna had survived, the Matriarchy had been weakened, to the point where if a conflict between Mulén and Siáden erupted and either side got the upper hand, the support of Elaiénne might not be enough to tip the scales.

And so, she looked beyond Siadúnan, and to the Elves which had shattered the Queendom. For some time now, there had been an agreement between the Sun Elven Desert Legion and Elaiénne, where the latter would provide food and water in exchange for mates. It had been a profitable agreement, but previous Matriarchs had been hesitant to expand the partnership. Not only did the Sun Elves have an annoying tendency to prattle on about Light and Darkness and how their leader was Chosen by a dead Bulwari God to save the world, but many harpies - even in Elaiénna - resented the Sun Elves for ending what was perceived as the golden age for Siadúnan Harpies.

Given the weakened state of her realm, Jasiéne travelled to the camp of the Desert Legion, hoping to secure promises of military aid, training, or equipment, so that Elaiénna could gather the strength they needed to prevent Mulén and Siádan from conquering the other. Maybe even an outright military alliance.

She found all that... and so much more.

Once Jaddar and Jasiéne sat down to talk, they found much potential gain from cooperating. The Jaddari would provide bows and training in the art of archery to Elaiénne, in exchange for Harpy scouts being attached to the Desert Legion to spot foes, friends, or oases in the vast Salahad Desert, just to start with. More supplies would be provided to the Desert Legion while promising Harpy Mages could study under experienced mages. On and on the two spoke, each growing more invested in the potential partnership with every minute.

If not for the fact that the two immensely enjoyed each others' company, a treaty would likely have been signed within an hour or two of the negotiations starting. Instead, they spoke well into the night, conversation flittering effortlessly from topic to topic. From hobbies to politics to dreams and hopes to religion.

And when Jaddar spoke of religion, of the truths and revelations bestowed upon him as he was meditating atop the Mountain of Clear Sight, of his vision for a world where anyone - regardless of race, background, or birthplace - can take up the Fight against the Darkness and become a Chosen, Jasiéne listened intently... and was convinced, declaring that she, too, would become a Chosen, and would join the Fight.

Since then, Elaiénne and the Jaddari - and Jasiéne and Jaddar - have only grown closer, and with every day that passes, more and more harpies within Elaiénna abandon their old ways in favour of the Jadd.

This union of nations is best exemplified by Jasiéne's only daughter: Jaddarésa, a literal union between the two rulers. Though still a child, she shows great promise, being blessed with not just her mother's diplomatic prowess or her father's military mind, but also possessing potent magical powers.

Race: Desert Elf

Birthplace: ??? - (Presumably Jexisian Anbenncost)

Rank/Occupation: Commander of the Desert Legion, Prophet of Surael

Age: 283 (Born 1161 AA)

Location: Ebbusubtu - The Mountain of Clear Sight

Biography: Jaddar does not remember much of his childhood, all those centuries ago. In his mind, he sees a figure of light and gold, whom he presumes to be his mother, and the shining silver plate of his ever-absent father, but details regarding both figures are ever-so-scarce otherwise. According to his mentor and guardian, the Legionary Commander Erelessa, whom he spent most of his conscious adolescence accompanying across the frontlines of the shrinking Empire, his mother was none other than Jexis, the Burned Empress and daughter of Jaher. In his youth, others of high note would corroborate this claim, but in the end it would not stop the final partitioning of the Phoenix Empire between his grandfather's companions and servants.

With Bulwar lost to infighting, Jaddar and Erelessa travelled east with the remnants of Jexis' legionnaires, joining with the veteran Desert Legion in Far Salahad. It was here, amongst the scorching dunes and unending sands, that Jaddar's life truly began. Living amongst the semi-nomadic Humans of the Masnsih clans, the young Elf quickly learned the tenets of desert power. Survival, horseriding, archery, raiding tactics, leadership skills, and much more. In time, his efforts would see him rise to command over the entire Desert Legion in the wake of his mentor's final passing. Together with their Human allies, they marched further east, deeper into the unforgiving desert.

At the foot of a great mountain jutting defiantly above the sea of sand and dunes they made their camp, sheltered by the rock from the harsh winds, and sustained by life-giving watering holes and oases. Feeling an inexplicable calling to this strange place, Jaddar climbed to the mountain's very summit. It was here, on Ebbusubtu, the Mountain of Clear Sight, that he finally understood his purpose in life, for it was upon that summit he was overtaken by a vision, and saw Jaher, his conquering grandfather, Surael reborn.

The Humans of Bulwar were wrong in their interpretations, but his own people had erred just as much. No single people could inherently be Chosen to lead and rule. That privilege was extended to all who wished to fight the Darkness, no matter their race or creed. Struck low by disease and fever in the presence of such divine truth, Jaddar hastily scrawled all he could recall upon parchment and stone, and departed from the summit at long last. While the whole experience had seemed as though it had taken a few mere moments, when Jaddar finally returned to his people at the base of the mountain, they told he had been absent for 9 years.

His followers, Elf and Human alike, eagerly accepted his new faith, for the past decades of devastation and ruin clearly showed Surael's displeasure with those who had declared themselves his sole Chosen people. In time, the remainder of the Masnsih tribes would join them in faith and action, eager to fight against the encroaching Darkness.

Their dedication to the Jadd however would soon be tested, as the Harpies of Elaienna came before Jaddar, eager for aid in their effort to maintain their independence. Past deals where the Elaienni Harpies provided supplies in exchange for willing mates meant that the negotiations started off on friendly terms, and as Jaddar spoke to the Elaienni Matriarch, it became clear that the two people had much to offer each other. The Matriarch seemed intrigued by Jaddar's beliefs, which he eagerly elaborated upon, seeing in the Harpies a chance to prove himself right, that defenders of the Light could be found even in races traditionally considered monsters. Furthermore, Jaddar found a bond forming between him and the Matriarch as they spoke long into the night. Assured that he was upon the right path, Jadder offered not just the aid of the Legion, but also offered himself to the Matriarch in body and soul. Together, they sired a child, Jaddaressa, named in his honor. The moment he laid eyes upon his daughter, he knew Surael was smiling down upon him, and that he had but taken the first step towards a greater destiny.

There is no God but Surael, and Jaddar is his Prophet.
