You know, at first I wondered if Zenkichi's newfound charisma and confidence might lead us to a harem comedy, but then we saw him interact with Medaka and it occurred to me that almost no one could actually get into the crazy world that is their relationship. Looking at Aria and Kagamiin, however, I can't help but wonder if they'd take that as a challenge...

Not really. See, 4 can be written 2 ways one being pronounced Shi the other is Yon. This is to avoid such problems as 4 = death. It's the same with 7 and 9. 7 = Nana or Shichi, 9 = Ku or Kyuu.

Also when writing/speaking 2 digit numbers in Japanese you write the first number flow by Juu (10) then the last digit.

So 42 would be written as Shi-Juu-Ni, or Yon-Juu-Ni :) , literal translation being four tens and two.

A quick search shows this isn't like the one shown in canon, which may be bad (somebody in japan has made a partial lexicon of it) or good (the original one probably isn't a real code to solve, this may).

edit: ugh, I gave it a try just because but I went nowhere. It's not a simple switch between letters and numbers or a "mobile keyboard" code, if it is one at all.
