Heir To The World (Medaka Box/JJBA) - Revamped SV Version!

Chapter Five: 3
[X] Primary List:
-[X] Harigane Onigase
-[X] Aria Komori
-[X] Kagamiin Kyoka
[X] Secondary List:
-[X] Kae Serinuma
-[X] Haru Maki
-[X] Miri Natayama

Once again every member of the Devil's Council talk and discuss until three candidates are chosen for each list and assigned to different groups. Suzuna immediately takes Onigase, her eyes sparkling with something you are perfectly happy not acknowledging. While you love being surprised, you think you can safely sign the recruitment of the pink-haired girl as a 'failure'.

You give the usual guidelines for recruitment and declare the reenactment of the Recruitment Effort [Deal with the Devil] (which is met with lukewarm reactions, the heathens) before leaving together with Rica and Amaya.

As you walk through the school halls you once again go through the dossier about Aria Komoki. At first glance this girl one year your senior is the very picture of the classical Japanese ideal beauty, the [Yamato Nadeshiko]: long and luscious straight black hair, black eyes, a slim and proportionate build, talented at everything she does and possessing a demure and gentle personality. Coupled with her coming from a wealthy family with a long history and being part of Class 10, the [Special Standard Class], she could quite possibly be second only to Medaka in popularity if she bothers to stand out even a little more. Not that she hasn't her own admirers, they simply don't make great waves in the rumor mill.

However, there are two tiny facts that doesn't quite fit the idyllic picture above. One, there are records of a girl with similar physical traits taking part in street fights all over the city since a few years ago.

Two, during the treasure hunt one of the sports club ambushed the Ikebana Club which she is part of...only to be ruthlessly crushed by Komoki herself using a fighting style too precise and effective to be a spur of the moment. That was Naze's opinion, which you share. And even if her knowing martial arts fits with her background, the smile on her face as her fist crush her opponent's face is not one that a true Yamato Nadeshiko would ever display.

It's the smile of a sadist that delight in the pain and humiliation they deliver to others and the feeling of superiority they feel while doing so.

It's a very familiar smile.

"What do you think Day-san?" You ask the Japanese-American girl after passing her the dossier.

"Good chances of her public persona being a cover, with her clandestine activities reflecting her true personality." She answers, her sharp gaze staring at the snapshots of Aria fighting. "I wouldn't mind fighting against her."

"How do you rate your chances against her?"

"With my equipment, good. Unarmed, less good but still doable."

You give out a neutral hum before dropping the conversation. While it's possible it will come down to a fight you don't care who does it, if you or Amaya. What's important is winning against Aria, because if you can predict her thought processes right it would be the only way to successfully persuade her to join the Devil's Council. Of course, thanks to Rica you could make victory certain and completely foolproof...but that would be a huge waste of potential for something very petty.

====

The Ikebana Club is in one of the more traditional styled wings of Hakoniwa, the rooms having tatami and wooden sliding doors. As far as you know it's one of the clubs with less members, but there is no respectable school in Japan that would disband a club like the Ikebana one. You slowly but firmly rap your knuckles against the wood surface to announce your arrival.

"One moment please." A soft, cultured voice comes from within. You wait for a dozen of seconds, your hearing picking up the sound of someone moving around while carrying heavy stuff. Then the door slides open, revealing a kimono-wearing Aria Komoki. "I wish you a good day." She bows formally. "How can I be of assistance?"

"You are Aria Komoki-san, correct? A pleasure to meet you sempai." You return the bow. "My name is Zenkichi Hitoyoshi, president of the Devil's Council. If possible, I would like have a talk with you."

"Of course." She stands to the side and graciously gestures to the free path. "Please come in."

After Rica and Day introduce themselves everyone sit seiza on the floor, Aria in front of you and your fellow members on your sides. "I heard a lot about you, Hitoyoshi-kun. I must confess that I found the Treasure Event very enjoyable."

'I know you did.' "Thank you." You nod and smile. "It's comforting to know that my efforts to make the school life of my fellows students an unforgettable experience bear fruits."

"It's a breath of fresh air. Now, may I inquire what you wish to talk about with me?"

"Well..." You pretend to think about it. "Let me begin by saying I like your smile."

"Ah, thank you for the compliment." Her smile widens, a bit of pink coloring her cheeks.

Really now, those are some A-grade acting skills. "You misunderstand. Not the smile you're showing me now."

Two fingers go under your jacket and come back with a photo you put between you and her.

"This smile."

Her hand crashes down on your own like the axe of an executioner. To an outside observer it would look like she is simply resting her hand over yours, while in truth she's trying with all her strength to crush it.

She's strong alright, but not strong enough.

Aria's pleasant aura has evaporated, replaced with a glare that promise unimaginable pain unless her demands are meet. "How did you get this?" Her tone is much more rough and abrasive now, similar to the delinquents she usually beat but still with traces of her high-class upbringing.

"Sorry." Rica mutters while holding up a hand.

She older girl throws her a quick glance before her eyes focus back on yours. "Please be at ease Komoki-sempai." You still pleasantly smile. "I am not here to blackmail you: merely to make you an offer. And before you ask: no, you don't have to accept or else."

"How nice of you." She grins, obviously not believing you. She keeps looking at your face with an expectant look, the pressure around your hand increasing even more, before she lets go with a disgruntled snort, though there is also a faint amount of respect. "Let's hear this offer."

You pull back your hand, leaving the photo there, and rest it on your thigh. "Aria Komoki-sempai. I formally invite you to join the Devil's Council."

"Oooh?" She crosses her arms while raising an eyebrow. "And why would you want that? Because of my skills in Ikebana? My good grades? Maybe, my family's money?"

"Your fighting skills." You tell her with complete and utter honesty.

She seems genuinely startled at the answer, though her mask quickly goes back into place. Her eyes narrow as she tries to discern your real intention. "And why should I accept?"

Good question. "Uhm...because, aren't you tired of beating small-grade thugs?" You give her a knowing grin. "Don't you wish to fight someone stronger than that?"

Her stare is as hard as steel. "...Are you that someone, Hitoyoshi-kun?"

"Not the only one." You reply, letting her drawn her own conclusions.

She stares some more before throwing back her head and laughing. When she looks back at you her grin is positively bloodthirsty. "I hope you're prepared to back up your words, because you just made me interested."

You will take that as a compliment.

"The rules are simple." Standing in the middle of the cleared room you begin to explain the rules of the duel, Amaya Day and Aria Komoki staring at each others from opposite sides. "You lose if you surrender, cannot move anymore or are knocked unconscious. Keep the fight within the room please, otherwise I'll have to suspend it. No lethal wounds either, I am sure I don't need to specify why. Due to Komoki-san's agreement, Day-san will be able to use her bokken during the duel."

"You could have used a knife or even a real sword for all I care." Aria cracks her knuckles. "Don't think I haven't fought opponents who use real weapons before. I have since long ago surpassed them."

"...You are my opponent, not an enemy." Amaya calmly replies, bokken held with one hand and pointed downward.

"It goes against your honor?"

"My self-respect."

With a smooth movement Aria crosses her forearms in front of her chest, right foot positioned in front of the left one. "I see. Well, at least it's a reason that, while not share, I can understand."

Amaya assumes a standard Kendo stance.

"Are you ready?" You ask while retreating to the opposite wall, next to Rica. They both nod. "Begin!"

Neither of them waste any time, leaping at each other the moment the first word comes out of your mouth. Aria begins with a sweeping high punch, to which Amaya responds with a swing aimed to hit Aria's wrist. However at the last moment Aria pulls back, revealing the punch to be a feint for a low kick to Amaya's knee.

Amaya, instead of dodging, reacts by raising her leg and bending her knee, letting Aria's foot pass under it before kicking at Aria's stomach. Aria blocks the kick with both hands and let herself be pushed back to absorb the blow. "What a surprise. That was Muay Thay, isn't it?" Aria comments, her eyes staring at Amaya with just a little more of caution. "I thought you were a Kendo nut."

"A soldier is required to learn many skills to be efficient." Amaya calmly replies, switching her stance to-is that Katori Shinto-Ryu? You seriously didn't expect to meet a practitioner here at Hakoniwa. Even Medaka has declined to learn it, saying that 'it is a noble and ancient martial art that deserves to be learned only by those who wants to dedicate their lives to it'. Guess Amaya doesn't have the same problem.

"A soldier? What's that?" Aria smiles confidently before changing again.

"Zenkichi." Rica asks you. "Who do you think will win?"

"That is not an easy question to answer. If we go by skills, then Komoki-san is better than Amaya-san. But by styles, then they're similar in the 'danger' department."

Aria slides inside Amaya's guard, forcing Amaya to forgone her bokken in favor of an elbow thrust. Aria diverts its course by pushing it away with one palm, while with the other hand she aims a left cross directly at Amaya's eyes. Amaya is forced to fall down and roll to avoid the blow, only to receive a kick in her side from Amaya, who seemed to have predicted her move.

"Amaya-san is a 'by the book' fighter. While she is not a master of one style, she knows many of them and can switch with efficiency. In contrast Komoki-san has never been trained in anything: all she knows are things she learned from street fights, where anything goes. So, while Amaya-san has a vast repertoire of techniques...it is not infinite." You close your eyes. "Which is a glaring weakness when fighting someone who was forced to learn how to adapt on the fly."

It happens in an instant. The full-speed punch from Aria, who Amaya should have been able to dodge by a hair's breath, changed it course at the last second to its true target: Amaya's bokken. With a sharp crack the weapon breaks in half, leaving Amaya with just a stump. "Sorry, but compared to human bones wood isn't worth much. Especially when against my 'Magic Bullet'." With a ferocious grin Aria cracks her fingers, deft enough to perform a complex art like Ikebana without even a single mistake but also strong enough to hit above her weight class. "I see it...your defeat!" Aria pulls back her arm, preparing for another punch. In her mind, the last one.

However, never once has Amaya faltered. Not have her eyes strayed from Aria's figure.

"But it doesn't mean that Komoki-san doesn't have a glaring weakness of her own." You open your eyes, instincts telling you the zenith of the fight is near. "One...that Amaya-san can exploit."

====

A Few Minutes Ago

"President. Is there any advice you would like to give me?" Amaya asks you while Aria put away the club items, and in doing so revealing she keeps gym training equipment inside the closet.

"Uhm, just two." You nod. "Those, mind you, are just my opinions. The first, is that Komoki-san is without a doubt a street fighter. She's used to fights without rules, where people use any possible dirty trick to win. I'm sure she also faced martial artists in the past. However, I'm almost sure she has never faced a 'soldier'."

She tilts her head. "So you suggest me to fight as I normally do?"

"I'm not talking about the fighting style of a soldier, but also the mentality of one." You don't elaborate, she needs to reach the answer herself. "The second, is that Komoki-san is incredibly precise and efficient with her movements. It can be said she has the perfect response to everything. And that, is her biggest weakness."

====

It is a matter of instants: Amaya shifts her body just so, as if balancing itself to deal with the decreased weight and length of the bokken. It creates an opening on her left side, one that Aria immediately exploits thanks to her instincts. Her fist flies true, coming dangerously close to Amaya's ribcage.

Only for her left forearm to move in between at the last moment, having started to move even before Aria did. The blow that would have cracked ribs instead cracks the arm's bone: still a debilitating wound, but not the fight-ending one that should have been.

Aria, having left herself open due to not expecting that, is unable to react when Amaya reverses the grip on her bokken and drive the bottom into her head.

====

Aria awakes with a hiss, hands going to her head by reflex. You stop her by grabbing her wrists. "Let the healing salve does its work. Don't worry, it was made by my mother so it's super-effective."

"You, what, I..." She looks around, spotting a sitting Amaya with her arm bandaged, before returning to glare at you. "The fight?"

"Aaah...you lost. By knockout." Rica plays the recorded video on her cellphone, showing Aria being hit by Amaya and falling unconscious.

She watches it with an undefinable emotion until then end. Then she frees herself and, after shakily standing up, she walks up to Amaya and sits down in front of her. "How did you do it? That gambit could have worked only if you knew about my move in advance. How did you know what I would do?"

Amaya looks Aria straight in the eyes. "Komoki-san. Your movements have a precision and efficiency that is almost perfect. No, it is perfect. There is no doubt that you're superior to me in that regard." She shrugs. "But if you look at it from the other side, always making the perfect choice means that it is possible to predict what you will do next, even if for only one instance."

Aria's eyes widen, her face looking as if she can't believe what she is hearing. "Then, your last opening...?"

"I created it."

"How did you know I wouldn't use another one?"

"Because it was one of the major weaknesses in the fighting style I was using." She easily answers. "It's one of the first things you're told when learning a fighting style that has been refined by others."

Aria hangs down her head, eyes shadowed by her hair. She begins to tremble.

Then she throws back her head and laughs. "Ahahaha-Ouch!" She cradles her head. "Should...have not done that..."

"Give it one hour and you can." You tell her.

"Convenient. Aaah, so this is what a 'defeat' feels like. God, I'm so pissed." She massages her temples before the scowl changes into a small smile. "But somehow, it doesn't feel as terrible as I thought." She looks up at Amaya. "Day-san. You're not half-bad."

"Thank you for the praise." Amaya bows. "You're incredibly skilled Komori-san. I have no doubts you will win next time, but if it is alright I would like you to help me become a better fighter."

"I never taught someone before. But I'm a genius so it'll be easy. Just don't expect me to go easy on you. Ever." She holds out her closed hand. Amaya blinks before bumping her own fist against Aria's.

It is a popular concept in fighting manga that 'fighters understand each other best when exchanging blows'. You can't attest to its veracity in all cases, or if it works when the fighters are both female, but you are confident it held true today.

Aria swirls around to face you. "After I recover and take back my victory you're next Hitoyoshi-kun. You may be good at gathering talents, but I have no intention of serving under someone weaker than me."

Well you were expecting something like that, so it's okay.

====

When you return only Sugar, Lim and Akemi are still missing. Suzuna's small traces of irritation in her aura and the lack of a certain pink-haired girl confirm that your prediction was correct. Instead your fellow Ruler is busy talking with a girl your mind instantly classify as Kae Serinuma, the first name on the secondary list.

You sit down next to Nekomi. "So?"

"It took awhile, but eventually we managed to corner Onigase-san in a dead end." She waves her hand. "The short version of her answer is 'hell fucking no'. The long version-"

"No need, I can imagine it." You look at Serinuma's profile again. Uh, so she's the reason people ship you with Akune. Not that there is anything wrong with BL and Fujoshi, but why with that creep of all people? "How did Suzuna recruit Serinuma-san?"

"She agreed to make a 'What If' manga regarding one of the characters she killed in her main one." Nekomi snickers. "Apparently it was one of Kae-chan's favorite characters."

Easy. Then again, some times it's a good thing. You look in their direction again, only to catch Serinuma looking back at you with a very creepy expression. She makes an even creepier giggle when Suzuna whispers something in her ear, the blush intensifying. You're glad you cannot see what is going on within her mind.

The door slams open. Lim and Akemi walks inside, followed shortly by Sugar and Kagamiin Kyoka: both are covered in bruises as if they ferociously beat the shit out of each other. Which is impressive, because you have first hand experience of what Sugar's punches can do.

Without a word Kyoka accelerates, passing past Lim and Akemi to approach you.

Your eyes fail to follow her next movements. So when she's suddenly right in front of you, your body reacts by itself and kicks upward to block the punch that would have given you a bad concussion.

Silence descends on the club following the impact's sound, akin to a baseball bat hitting a wall of solid steel. Most people, especially the new members, are staring at you two with wide eyes.

You lazily look up at a grinning Kyoka. "Is this how you greet others, Kagamiin-san?"

Her grins widens as she steps back and sits down. "Just confirming Sugar-kun's words."

Sugar-kun? Are they friends already? You look at the African-born boy, who just offers a thumb up.

So, to recap: two fighting maniacs-which are already sizing up each other-and a hardcore Fujoshi.

Bizarre, but in a good way.

====

A Few Days Later

So here you are, walking through the school after classes ended. That's normal. The other students mingling around inside and outside classrooms? That's normal.

Seeing with Lift Me Up's eyes six metal balls that must weight at least 30 kg each coming from behind straight at you?

Not normal at all. Even for you.

You dodge forward by using the Advance Step Technique that Medaka once used against the Kendo Club and turn around with the same movement to face your aggressor.

It's a maid.

Wait, that's just a modified Hakoniwa uniform. The metal balls chained to her wrists and ankles are the real deal however, as the deep crater in front of you can attest.

She also reminds you of someone, though at the moment you cannot recall who. Time to find out then. "Is this revenge for something? Because I have no idea who you are."

"564212091204764184870390153267112405856437." She says.

....How does one respond to that?

On a totally unrelated note, Medaka is currently visiting the Orchestra Club after receiving a complain that the Music Room's soundproofing has some holes in it.

[X] "42."

Instead of using Japanese, English or another normal language the girl, who looks like a Freshman, replied to your question with numbers. An encrypted code? But what is the point of using one in a spoken conversation? Unless she expects you to know it and respond in kind? Could it be, she's a spy that mistook you for her contact?

...Or, you remind yourself after realizing the silliness of that last thought, she's probably just a chuunibyou or a nerd that think she's cool.

Still, you need to say something. But what...Got it!

You straighten your back, put your left hand in your pocket, hold out your right hand with the palm facing her and, with a confident smile, utters the following: "42."

She stares at you like you just came out of an UFO wearing nothing but your boxers and a stuffed goat as a hat, before raising her right hand and closing it into a fist, save for the thumb that is pointing at her left.

Someone read 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'! Congratulations are in order, not many people here in Japan appreciates the western classics.

Of course she swings her metal balls at you again before you can find a way to express your appreciation without words, the ingrate.

"456467323223129875." She says after you dodge to the side. "39875073241230498." She continues, spinning the balls above her head and swinging them like they weight nothing.

"Look girl, this is awkward. Any chance of you being willing, or able, to communicate in a language known to more people than only you?" You bend backwards, the metal ball missing you by scant millimeters. Did this cheeky brat just ignored you?

You grab the chain and pull it to the side, making her lose balance. Using that opening you put your foot on her stomach and push, sending her skidding back.

Then, while she's still recovering, you turn around and sprint away.

"865584!!" She yells, probably some variation of 'stop you coward!'. But you're not running, merely buying time.

You take out your wireless earphone and put it in your ear, while inside your pocket you type a number on your cellphone's keyboard.

He answers after the third ring. "I hope this is important, Zen, because I am in the middle of work." A deep, culture voice answers with a dismissing tone. "Do you have any idea how valuable my time is? Of course you do, so why are you interrupting me?"

"I never call you unless I really need you, Ducati." You reply, quickly glancing behind your back and confirming that, yes, she's keeping up even with those balls obviously slowing her down. "Someone is trying to kill me, or at least causing me serious body harm."

"And that's different from all the other times it happened and you didn't need my help, why?"

"She's using a math language, so I have no idea what's she's saying." You slide inside an opening door like a professional baseball player, avoid looking up at the girl's skirt (though you appreciate her toned legs), and cartwheel out of the open window. "I want to know."

"That's it? Sheeesh, this is truly a waste of my valuable time. But since you already interrupted me, might as well make the waste complete. Tell me what she said, inflections and all."

You repeat to Ducati what the girl said, trying to imitate her voice as well as you can. At the end Ducati gives out a quick hum. "The key is outrageously simple. Her name is Myouga Unzen, she wants to beat you since her brother asked her to and did you really quoted Douglas Adams?"

Unzen
? That creepy child has a sister? How interesting, she must be another Abnormal. "Can you give me the key?"

You listen to Ducati, memorizing the key to translate Japanese into the math language. Then you thank Ducati, end the call and stop, waiting for your chaser to reach you. "[Let's try it again, Myouga Unzen. Even if this is a favor to your brother, surely you can tell me why he asked you to do so?]"

Hearing you suddenly talk in her language must have been completely unexpected, because she stops her charge to stare at you in surprise. "[Hmm...you were able to decipher my language to this extent. I thought only my brother was capable of doing that.]"

"[I didn't. I simply called someone who did, and I had them tell me the translation key.]"
You tell her, crossing your arms.

"[...Barely one minute passed since you started running. In that timeframe, that person deciphered my language while you understood the translation key well enough to speak it fluently?]" Her eyes narrow. "[It's like my brother said, there is no way you're a simple Special. Tell me, do you have it?]"

Her glares turns as sharp as a razor.

"[A Stand?]"

You tilt your head, half-closed eyes staring back with utter boredom. "[You know, even supposing I know what you're talking about, why should I answer your question? Especially since I don't see what your involvement is. I know your brother has a beef with me, so why did he send his sister instead of coming here personally or send some of his Enforcers?]"

How the hell did Myouri Unzen made a connection between you and Stands? He should try to fit you within his expectations, and without using the physical manifestation a Stand User is easily mistaken for an Abnormal. So how?

"[Honestly? I don't really care what my brother do as the chairman of the Public Morals Committee, and those ideas about justice of his are completely uninteresting to me. But I still decided to help him. Because isn't that what an older sister is supposed to do when her younger brother ask for a favor?]" She shrugs before adding, almost casually. "[And he couldn't be here even if he wanted. Because right now him and his Enforcers are busy crushing both the Student Council and your little Devil Council.]"

Your fingers, which were tapping on your forearm, briefly stop midway before slowly coming down to rest on your arm's surface. "[I see.]"

[] "[If it's a fight you want, it's a fight you'll get.]"
[] "[Time to save my fellow members who cannot fight from the Enforcers.]"
[] "[Time to stop the hostilities from even starting. Shame on me, I sound like Medaka right now.]"
[] Write-in.

====

To explain: with the first option, Zenkichi fights Myouga; with the second, he leaves to assist the members of the Devil Council who cannot fight (those who can...eh); with the third, he does what Medaka did in canon. Well, he attempts to.

Chapter Five: 6
Ran out of good necromancy memes. Have an update instead.
====

[X] "[Time to save my fellow members who cannot fight from the Enforcers.]"

You were expecting Myouri Unzen to, sooner or later, escalate things into a physical confrontation. It's his modus operandi, to visit excessive retribution over rulebreakers, and he made his intentions clear during the Treasure Hunt. Even then, you judged the possibility of him targeting both Medaka and yourself at once lower than him focusing on only one group at a time. Did he underestimate you, or did you underestimate him? Food for thought, even if the end result of this endeavor and your answer haven't changed.

[Time to save my fellow members who cannot fight from the Enforcers, then.] You tell Myouga while tilting your body slightly to the side, raising your arms and spreading your fingers so that the girl's face is encapsulated between your thumbs. One of the duties of a Leader is to give your subordinates jobs that are within their ability to complete: deliberately setting someone to fail is a waste of time and resources that can be better used elsewhere. Unless, of course, it's intended as a form of punishment.

Of your fellow Devil Council members only Serinuma, Gen and Akiyuki don't have the strength to deal with Unzen's goons. Thus, as the president, it behooves you to... uhm, what's the appropriate word? Ah yes: to show your magnanimity.

[Worry about yourself first.] Myouga replies in an unimpressed tone before swinging three of her metal balls, which you dodge by jumping to the side. Quite evidently your words didn't impress her, but that is alright.

Actions speak louder than words.

[Otherwise I'll flatten you so fast you won't have time to let out an A.]

Though, some times words can be more surprising than actions. You raise an eyebrow as you do a cartwheel above the next set of balls and stomp on the chains. A loli making a breast joke? Could it be she is her brother's sister in more ways than one? Even if you are pressed for time, you can't help but wanting to test it. [I've been meaning to lose some weight anyways. Gotta trim off the fat somehow.]

[Heretic.]
Her voice is full of disappointment and disgust as she swings the second set, forcing you to do a respectable imitation of Neo's bullet-dodging. [Bigger is better.]

Hidden by your current position your grin widens. There it is, the weakness you needed! [Oh, I'm bigger where it counts. Would you like to check? Trust me, I have quite an impressive pair of steel balls.] You straighten up and give her an once-over with a pleased smirk. [Even if, I admit, not as big as yours.]

She stares at you for a few seconds, arm frozen in the middle of pulling back her metal balls, before blushing brightly. And during that moment of mental weakness, when an unrelated type of emotion is disrupting her combat mindset, you strike: grabbing the chains connected to her wrists you give them a sharp pull, causing Myouga's feet to leave the ground and for her body to be flung towards you. Your legs are the strongest part of your body, but that doesn't mean your arms are weak either. Before she can recover and react you pull the chains to the side, impressing them with a powerful spinning movement. The rest is pure physics.

Myouga reaches your position completely tied up in her own chains, at which point you take out the second type of object you keep hidden within your clothes beside razor blades: plastic handcuffs zips; made of a cutting-edge type of plastic that's stronger than steel, of course. [As much as I enjoy this conversation-] You tell Myouga while you put zips around her ankles and in key points of the chain snare. [I really need to go now.] You pat her head, grinning in face of her bewilderment, and then dash down the hall.

[Come back here! Pervert!] She shouts. [Coward! Molester!]

Ah! Good thing nobody can understand what she's saying! Not that you care about what others think of you, but you have an image to maintain.

You take out your phone and consult the list of your fellow members' activities and habits, both those related to the Devil Council and the private ones Rica observed during what both you and her like to call her [Information-gathering Recons]. Not that she has a problem spying on the private life of others, but you don't want to make her develop even more bad habits.

You check the schedule of Serinuma, Gen and Akiyuki, compare it to the current time and your mental map of Hakoniwa Academy and trace a route than, from your current position, will allow you to reach all three of them in the shortest time possible.

And, it requires you to jump out of a window. Because of course it requires you to jump out of a window.

"It's a waste of glass, that's what it is." You mumble while reaching the right window and breaking the glass with a kick. Jumping outside you move around to face the building, and when in front of the first floor Lift Me Up's hands briefly materialize behind your back to give you a push, allowing you to crash through another window and enter the classroom just as a Public Morals Committee member is about to hit an unsuspecting Serinuma with a street sign from behind. Your foot shatters his jaw before he can do such an unsporting thing to the harmless Fujoshi.

The momentum pushes both of you through the open door and into the corridor, where you use the already fainted guy as a springboard to soar above the heads of a few shocked students. Landing on your feet you start sprinting at full speed while skillfully evading bystanders. One minute later you leap forward, use the wall between windows as another springboard and jump through the entrance to another classroom, where you tackle the iron pipe-wielding guy threatening Gen. You flip both around, putting the guy between you and the teacher's desk when you crash into it, and then leap out through the second classroom's entrance.

Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. Muhammad Ali knew his stuff, he wasn't know as Louisville Lip for nothing.

"...Something I need to know?" Akiyuki asks you without batting an eye, despite the fact you're sitting on a girl that until a few moments ago was threatening to castrate him with a whip.

"The chairman of the Public Morals Committee considers me an enemy." You calmly explain. "Don't worry, I'll not get you involved... but if you want to, well, now you know the risks."

"With all due respect, Hitoyoshi-kun, I'd like to continue going back home." He briefly bows. "After all, I have the feeling this matter will reach a conclusion before the day ends."

You grin. "Your instincts are spot on, Akiyuki-sempai. You're right, one way or another this ends today."

"Alright, what the hell?" Nekomi eloquently begins after every member of the Devil Council that fought against the Enforcers gather inside the clubroom.

Before answering you take a moment to observe everyone: as expected Rica, Sugar, Suzuna, Naze, Koga and Kagamiin don't have a scratch on them. Nekomi, Komori and Day show minor signs of a scuffle, but they are otherwise unarmed.

"What happened today was a combined attack to the Student Council and the Devil Council from the Public Morals Committee, orchestrated by Chairman Unzen." You calmly explain. "We already got his attention with the Treasure Hunt, but now it seems he has decided to employ his favorite method: overwhelming violence." You look around. "Who met Medaka?"

Sugar, Suzuna, Day and Nekomi raise their hands. "She honestly looked disappointed that she arrived after I already beat my opponent." The green-haired girl comments.

Typical of Medaka: she probably planned to stop all Enforcers without hurting them, but despite her impressive speed she likely managed to reach in time only the Student Council members. Your childhood friend can be so silly some times. "Just as I suspected." You hum in response. Truthfully you don't mind Unzen's challenge, but going along with his methods would plunge the whole school into a gang war. For you, who want a (relatively) normal high school life, this is unacceptable.

Beside, even if you do nothing Medaka is sure to-

Kaboooom!!!

The whole building shakes, an explosion being heard in the distance.

"What was that?!" Nekomi shouts in alarm. "A gas leak?"

"No. The sound it made..." Day narrows her eyes. "Gunpowder."

"Most likely." Naze appears unconcerned as her single visible eye turns in a certain direction. "And it came from the direction the Student Council is."

"Fucking." You snarl, lips peeling back to reveal your longer than normal canines. "Midget!"

An instant later your chair shatters, your body a blur as you dash out of the clubroom and towards the Student Council's room.

Myouri Unzen is either a fool or an unsuspecting idiot. An attack of those proportions is not for a single person, but for a whole group: you hope that for once you're wrong, but right now you're reasonably sure Unzen just tried to take out the whole Student Council with a makeshift bomb.

That Akune and the others lived or died it's irrelevant: the reality remains that someone hurt those that Medaka considers her friends. And when that happens, Medaka reacts like any other human being: she gets angry.

Problem is, Medaka's anger is something than even you have difficulties dealing with.

"Good grief." You stop at the edge of the roof and look down, where the window to the Student Council's room is located. "Why did it end with me needing to save that fucking midget's life?"

As you thought, it looks like a bomb went off. And right there in the courtyard, facing against each other, are a beaten-up but still standing Myouri Unzen and Medaka at her most violent: War God Mode.

Yup. Unzen is going to either die or end messed up so badly that he'll have to retire from school. Something that will make Medaka absolutely miserable once she snaps out of it. You don't care one iota about the midget, but a Medaka that isn't always at her best is unacceptable.

It's time to stop your rival from being an idiot.

To explain: this is a choice to decide Zenkichi's main fighting style. In other words, the methods he employ to match Medaka in a fight.
