Headway Through Remnant [RWBY]

"Once you kill enough grimm, you can feel the negative emotions of people across continents Jaune. Do you know what kind of hell is that? Many Headway users decide it's better to avoid humanity entirely and simply waste away killing grimm on the badlands, like your great grandfather who recently passed away."

You stayed silent at that proclamation.

"Even still, I won't stop trying to be a hero", you said with conviction, "I will find a way to get past this problem, there must be a way to fix it and even if I'm fated to feel the weight of the world itself I will follow my dream!"

Your father stared at you for a while before sighing. "Grandfather said the same thing to me, and yet now he's dead after so long." Turning back to the kitchen counter he continued chopping the vegetables. "For better or for worse Jaune, you will become the hero you wanted to be."

This... This will be a problem that will need some heavy brainstorming and maybe some experimenting to so solve. Possibly also some outside help. I'm definitely of the opinion that we need to to sound out the other members of our team and Yang's team, confirm that they aren't connected to Headway seekers in any way, and then bring them in on the secret of Headway. It'll be difficult to bring in Enkita and fully explain her who and what she is and what she can do anyways if we don't, and constantly trying to hide things will just get more difficult. With people besides Ozpin helping us we should be able to better hide from Headway seekers, and if necessary fight them.

Step 1: Identify the mechanics of Negative Emotion Sensing. Figure out how one would develop the skill without killing Grimm for it.
Step 2: Hash out how to develop it's opposite skill, Positive Emotion Sensing. (Or maybe just strip out the Positive/Negative spin and pick up an Emotion Sensing skill)
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit.

But dad that's dumb. Headways super power is super training it's extremely unlikely to care about starting skills. In fact considering it's a power for heroes and that emotional sensing thing the most likely characteristics are will power and will to power rather than innate ability as Headway eliminates all vagaries in talent. Thus the emotional weakness and fear of the power demonstrated by you desiring to avoid it and avoid it for your family so much that you were willing to strangle your sons dreams an abilities rather than prepare him means that it was more likely to avoid you than not. Further your sons incompetence and his willingness to go to suicidal ends to fight regardless probably made getting it all but assured in this generation rather than it happening to his kid if only becuase Jaune might have hit a darwin award and you aren't having any more sons.

All this did was damage your relationship and mean that there was a time where in achieving to attempt his goals he was completely incompetent and could have gotten shanked when he otherwise could have been prepared with Tutors and junk to grind him down like a stone.

It also made it so that secondary knowledge of headway meant to be passed down through the family was delayed and possibly lost if you up and had a heart attack. .

I mean we went to talk to Ozpin while there is an Iluminati wanna be out there. We could have been researching this on the net and told everyone we exist.

And if instead of running from Headway and disdaining it you fjorded on you could hunt for a positive empath to beat up.

[X]Giving the news to your sisters

easy solution to neg emotion sensing, beat up the grimm till near death then let someone else kill it.

Okay... How the hell did we beat her again?
She's not that tough. Each form is specialist. The first form have higher defense at the expense of offense, the second form have higher offense at the expense of defense. The last form is the only one you had to be worried, but Jaune was a bit above her.

Of course, she's been sleeping for a long time, so she's not supposed to be that difficult anyway. The idea is to fight against her to test out the Headway user capabilities, and Jaune managed to pass.

For most skills it take longer than a single battle to count as a training action.

Um... maybe I'm just misunderstanding you but training skills via combat is done through fighting and winning against someone that has a higher rank in that skill then you do. It doesn't come up all that often in the Headway quests because usually headway outranks skills that aren't already trained but it does happen.
