Halkegenia Online Thread 22 - Kill Sheffield Vol. 2

Also I would like to point out
:Citation Needed: on the Rub'al'kar ability to upgrade the gun tech by 50 years which ona side note for this time frame isnt much real improvements dont begin for another 100 years give or take.

Is she going to have the time? War is on the horizon, Sheffield won't be able to get the equipment shipped and distributed fast enough to hope to compete.

IIRC the mirror belonged to Romalia

Who will know if no pixies are seen and there are no survivors? Also, pixies will already be in the crosshairs for their appearance and association with the Fae. So let them get their hits in where they can.
The mirror your thinking of actually belongs to Osmond the spell that the Pope has is used for finding things out about a persons past for example Vittorio used his scry spell to show Joesph that his brother was actually very pissed off at being passed over to be the king and the spell that Vaer is talking about I believe is a wind based spell that allows you to extend your vision similar to binoculars which isn't really all that great in the long run.

Also Vaer where is it stated that Rub'al'kar has superior gun tech?

Not for Reconquesta, but Sheffield's loyalties lie with Gallia.

And without the Elves assistance Gallia is still years away from making a move.

Not just Romalia, the Headmaster also has one. So while it's unknown how common such a thing is, it is a known magic tool.

And this isn't D&D, outside of Void creations magical tools can be reproduced.

No they cant.
Its a Plot Point in the Vault that not all magical tools can be reproduced because of X reason.

So rare Item that gets one mention probably means its an Item that is Hard to make or unable to make based on what we know of Halk Magic tools.

You're downplaying the Pixies' strengths again. They are significantly smarter than a familiar. They are self-aware and able to plan. That gives them at least one advantage over a golem.

Don't forget what Old Osmond was capable of doing with his mouse.

Familiar's receive an intelligence boost due to their runes. To the level where they can understand and carry out complex human speech and orders.

ZnT Tabitha Side Story Volume 2 Extra Chapter

Flame the fire lizard emitted a call too low to be heard by human ears, speaking to Sylphid using the common tongue of Halkeginian natives. This is the tongue used by old races like the one Sylphid belongs to. The wild animals that have been contracted as familiars receive an intelligence boost that allows them to use language. That is because besides working like a dog, they have to be able to understand their masters' commands. That said, they generally cannot speak human languages unless they belong to a race that has lived alongside humans for a long time, such as cats and dogs. As a result, the communication is merely one-sided.
And golems are as intelligent as the mage controlling them. Remember the Skirny that showed up and was controlled from miles away.

As for the poisons, I assume there's a spell that checks a list of toxins. Will it work on a toxin they've never seen before? Or will the soldiers be able to fight if they discover that all their food has been poisoned? They'll be left on the edges of starvation.

TBH no clue what it involves, other then probably using Detect Magic.

Could be as simple as using water magic to tell if something will kill a human or not.

Could be as you suggest a list of things known be lethal that a mage checks for.

As to that ruining their food, why wouldn't they just have a Water/Earth Mage remove the poision? I mean singling out a certain material and then changing it into something else is kind of what they do.

They have gunsmiths of that caliber? Really?

Rub'al'karad is about a hundred years or more advanced then Halkgenia.

Mostly that's because they are in a cold war style arms race with the Elves. And reverse engineer any Elven technology they get their hands on.

okay - TH already said that Pixies will be rendering entire outposts of Reconquista dead. Debating if they can do that is pointless. Same for the Mob vs Local fauna debate. so for the love of Bishop argue about something else!

Like Ranger!Tiff's reaction to Shiori(s) - isn't one of them disguised as a guy? is the disguise still in effect?

Vaer can we get a citation on that Cold war with the elves and that they were reverse engineering the Elves gun tech? Cause as far as I recall the elves still trade with them.

Shiori is out of disguise because Tiffa noticed her ears prior to healing her.

TH has already said Tiff is going to be confused by "him" long Happy dreams :ogles:

Seriously this is getting stupid he hasn't cited at all for this nor shown it in any way.
And from past experience he isn't going to. Let it go and move on.

I don't think any of the Shiori are going to be up to much considering the injuries they have taken. TH mentioned Dagger forcing a healer to help Mahou, tossing a bag of money in his hands and running off.

As for the disguises, they dropped those before the fight and will have to manually recast the spells again.

Okay but that all seems like common everyday items or equipment what about the more exotic stuff such as the mirror we know that Osmond and the Pope have one but why doesn't Joseph have one? Why doesn't the Germanian Emperor have one? Why didn't the Albion royal family have one? That would have helped them out quite a bit.

and long after she found out Shiori's true fae gender...

She's still got "fantasies" over one of the triplicate catgirls.... then the other two came by....

Cue Tiff is KO'ed... Via Nosebleed... XD

So not just Ranger!Tiff but Yuri!Ranger!Tiff - heh

that seems to sound familiar - plus something involving Shiori in a Sundress...

Dagger!Shiori: "I realize I already know this, but...what are you wearing?"
Sword!Shiori: "what? Its comfortable!"

It's two different mentions.

ZnT Volume 3 Chapter 7

"She's from Rub' al Khali. She designed these cannons from the technology she learned from the elves. Her insights in technology… do not follow our magic arts. She possesses knowledge of technology that is new to us. You should get to know each other."

Volume 7 Chapter 2

"I am from the east… From Rub' al Khali."

"Hee! So you come from the land that always quarrels with elves!"

"Have you passed the ground where elves live?!" He was surprised. Apparently, in this world, elves are frightening and seemed to be a belligerent race. Moreover, they were on bad terms with humans.

While I will admit that could mean she learned how to make the cannons due to Gallia's alliance with the Elves. That would mean that the Elves had an alliance with Gallia prior to the events of the Transition.

Which we know isn't true for HalO.

So it makes more sense in HalO that her people figured it out from reverse engineering Elven technology.

Well the elves have been trying to keep void mages suppressed/comatose who is to say that over the 6000 years they didn't ally with Gallia or another Brimic nation before? It would partly explain why Tristans and possibly Albions void mage hasn't been seen since the time of Brimir. Would also explain why Tiffa's mom was on the floating island that is very far away from the dessert.

That doesnt mean she has 100 years worth of knowledge actually the oppisite it shows a more likely that the cannons are in fact as advanced as they can possibly be for their tech level since the Elves use wind stones as gunpowder which humans cant use.
