Been a while since I last posted in this quest.
"My name is Scharnhorst Buch," he states with a dignified air, "founder of the Buch Concern. Today, I will be explaining the role of leaders throughout history. When I am done, I sincerely hope you come to agree with me that, as a people, we have truly lost our way. There is another, better way for us to move forward."
Ew, smells like blatant ignoring of actual history in favour for a romanticised depiction that never actually existed.
More seriously, I get that Buch means well, I really do. I even get why so many people here actually like Cosmo Babylonia. But like, his entire speech is ultimately about how much better it was in the good old days when the Nobility were in charge.
Buch there were Peasant revolts. Germany alone saw like 60 militant revolts between the 14th and 16th centuries. Serfdom was a
thing Buch. A lot of this shit was caused by Nobility doing skeevy shit to maintain their lifestyles.
The Peasants weren't necessarily happy with the Aristocracy Buch.
He might not be a bad guy personally, but his rose tinted glasses view of what Nobility were strongly feels like it's going to bite him in the ass.
Nouri glances over at the two of you, adding quietly, "I don't know what you two know about the current events, but between the Laplace Incident, the war with the Federation, and supply issues with Anaheim, we're just lucky that we haven't had to dip into our supply of GMs yet. I know the Federation is already fielding GM IIIs and IIs in some areas."
Looks like everyone is having to start scraping the bottom of the MS barrel. Increasingly thinking it was a good idea to get our friends those high Class MS.
"Because it could have been much worse," he answers,
"At the very least She's not going to be braindead and comatose for an entire anime series. Especially because the endless dark void between life and
actual death is as boring as it is horrifying"
"What?"
"As a side note, Don't get high on Ghosts before Ramming your mobile suit into a powerful Newtype. Doctors orders."
"You are not. You just lost a family member in a brutal, violent manner. It has been mere days. I barely touched your mind and I already know that you are the furthest definition from 'fine'.
"Young Girl, I've
been the anger driven protagonist motivated by the deaths of their loved ones, the 'I'm Coping' card isn't going to work on me."
You aren't sure if you believe that… but you aren't sure whether it's because he's untrustworthy, or whether it's because you don't want to trust him. You don't want to think about it too much. He gets to talk to you about your feelings every so often, you get to keep flying. Everyone goes home happy. You refuse to think about it any deeper than that.
I almost forgot that Cy is a teenager.
On top of trauma, talking about feelings is going to be like pulling teeth.
You glance over at your friends, Eris and Theo, as they argue about comedy films near the relevant section of the store. You finish up your own browsing, grabbing a box set of "Watership Down" to buy. Looks like a cute cartoon about bunnies. Sicilia might like this. You didn't read the description on the back, but come on, it's a cartoon about bunny rabbits. There's no way this thing is inappropriate for kids.
Oh
no.
"Morbius 2: The Morbening." You read the title with no small amount of confusion, followed by the tag line, "The Time to Morb has Returned."
….
What the fuck?
The Morb things change, the Morb they stay the same.
"Come on, Cybele," Theo pops in, grinning, "They have the RX-78-2!"
"That can't be the real thing," you frown skeptically, "I thought that was lost at A Baou Qu?"
"Who cares if it's the real thing or not?" Eris pouts, "It's the original Gundam!"
"I dunno…" You mutter, closing the brochure. Yeah, you aren't going, you're just not interested.
You've heard of the ship, now get ready for the Gundam of Theseus!
"Big Sis! Big Sis!" She cheers, "I did it!"
"Did what?" You walk over to her, and just as you reach her the printer on the side of her simulator spits out a certificate. You pick it up and your eyes practically bulge out of your head.
Eris looks over your shoulder and has a similar reaction.
"You shot down Char?!" She gapes at the little girl, who giggles happily. There's no way, her GM was already pretty damaged!
SICILIA POWER SUPERIOR TO RED COMET
PURU-PURU MOTHERFUCKERS.
You wished you knew a bit more about this so you could help things go faster, but as Rhea starts ranting to herself with folders and laptop in hand, you decide to leave her to it. Although, you are a bit excited to see what she can do to your Woundwort now that she has all these extra parts. She did say that the TR-6 was one of the most customizable Mobile Suits ever designed. She better put her money where her mouth is!
You gape at the report that Rhea just handed to you, with Eris and Theo sharing your expression. Sicilia is straining to get a look at the pages.
"Well? Take your time deciding." She grins cockily, "These are just the loadouts I can get working with by end of week.
Damn I love the Woundwort line for this shit.
You'll never meet the man, since he's dead and gone, but you can get the closest thing to him.
His merch.
I cannot believe you actually all voted for this option.
I'm not against it mind, but I find it hilarious.
Sicilia pokes around the Clearance section of the gift shop, trying to get a good look at a Quattro Bajeena T-Shirt going for 90% off. You motion for her to get it if she wants it.
I imagine that Sicilia is just confused why she wants to destroy this shirt as hard as she did Sim Char, especially since the two
clearly have no connection whatsoever.
You wave off her concern with a laugh. Over the top? Impossible. Sure, the added Hrududus easily double the size of your Mobile Suit, but the added thrust can't be that much.
…
Right?
It's a lot of thrust.
I can now see why Hadou was thirsty as fuck for the Hrududus.
Seriously, that description for the acceleration sounds
sexy as hell.
"Isn't the Rick Dijeh an Ace Unit?" You muse as you leave radio range of the Bellerophon, switching to laser comms, "You don't see too many of those flying around."
"A Devil flew it."
...Alright, my UC lore isn't enough to figure this out, only devil I can think of is Amuro himself, and I don't know if he ever piloted a Rick Dijeh.
You mean the giant Mobile Armor on standby just outside of one of the docking ports. It's big, it's blue, and there's no mistaking what it is. Just from a glance, you're able to identify two giant weapon containers on the top, two sub-arms on the bottom, a huge engine block in the rear, and a giant Mega Particle Cannon slung under the front.
That sounds like a Dendrobium or something based on it. Even if not, that can't be good.
Might not vote on this... I'm torn between falling back or making an Alpha strike, but I can't determine whether or not the risk of the latter is worth it. And the fact that Cybele, who is normally at least mildly aggressive in combat, is seriously considering a retreat, feels like a sign, but that might just be me reading into it.
