As soon as the fragment is loose the Hand is going to bail, so we need to get moving ASAP. But losing our meatshields would be worse, at least we know where it is right now and have a hot trail to follow even if it moves. If we lose the regiment then we might not have the oomph to actually dig it out and then the initiative is back in the Hand's favor.
