"You have provided what I asked, I would be rude indeed to complain about it," you reply at once, speaking quickly. "If it was not quite what I expected that is more to my inexperience than any failing on your part Kitsu-san." You bow low in your seat. "Thank you."
"There is no need for thanks, Hiruma-san," Himawari says back, bowing to you. "It was my pleasure to provide you what aid I could."
For a time you both sit in silence, the gaze of the Thunders looking on. You shift yourself back toward the statues, observing them. They simply look like stone now, the strange sensations from earlier having vanished entirely. Out of the corner of your eye, you observe Himawari looking back up at them, bowing her head in respect.
Out of the corner of your other eye, you see Shirou is still praying. He's kept it up for several minutes by this point, though compared to the monks in the alcove that isn't an impressive feat. Almost you would believe that he has been deep in his meditations this entire time, completely engrossed in showing his deference to the Thunders.
Except his lips have quirked up slightly in the barest hint of a smile… He's been listening on to your entire conversation with Himawari, and apparently finds something amusing? You've no idea what that could possibly be, but Shirou is a strange fellow so it's likely something you wouldn't understand regardless if he told you.
In any event, it seems to you that you've taken up a great deal of Himawari's time. She has graciously allowed you this, but it would still be impolite to presume you have it without recompense of some nature. All scales must be kept in balance, lest harmony falter.
"I have monopolized your attention with my own thoughts," you say. "Please Kitsu-san, if there are question you wish to ask or things you wish to do, please do not hesitate on my account."
"How very generous of you, Hiruma-san," Himawari replies. "And please, do not trouble yourself. I was not bothered in the least. But s for something to do…" She pauses a moment, thinking. "It has been almost two hours since lunch, and I suppose some tea would not be remiss."
"Then let us get some tea," you say, standing. Your legs are stiff from sitting for so long, but you pay the sensation little heed. Himawari politely declines your hand to help her rise and instead stands on her own, brushing off her kimono.
"I think that sounds like a fine idea," Shirou says from behind you, already on his feet. He grins at you, "There's hardly ever a time not to drink tea."
"Ah, good monk! I did not realize you were with Hiruma-san," Himawari says, bowing to him. "I am Kitsu Himawari."
"My greeting, Kitsu-sama," Shirou replies as he bows back. "I am Shirou, monk of the Order of Osano-wo."
"It is my pleasure to meet you, Shirou-san," Himawari says as you all walk toward the entrance. "Have you been acquainted with Hiruma-san long?"
"Several months," he answers as you all pass by the monks in their alcoves, unmoved since you last saw them. "We have traveled quite a ways together."
You pass through the door and into the mid afternoon light. The air is clean outside of the smoky, incense filled confines of the temple, and you take a deep breath of it. The crisp gust of wind that blows past you is almost intoxicating in its freshness, sweet in a way you would not have imagined for simple air. You take a moment to revel in it, and then you continue on.
Instead of going further down the street, you make your way back toward the castle. The best teahouses would be near there to cater to the Samurai, both native and foreign, as they relax away from the confines of Shiro Kitsuki proper. This also has the added benefit of bringing you back closer to your Lord should he require your presence. It's been a few hours since you were granted leave, and it would be best if you were near when you must take up your duty again.
A small part of you hopes that you'll not be called forth to more courtly matters any time soon today, however. You would never shirk your obligations, of course, but that lunch had been intense beyond most anything you've experienced outside of pitched battle. It would be good if you could relax the rest of the day, take a chance to center yourself and get your bearings…
"Hiruma-san!" a cheery voice calls out from further up the street, taking you from your thoughts. You blink, and suddenly notice Mirumoto Hanabi running toward you. She's still clad in her armor, her step positively bouncing as she heads in your direction. "Hiruma-san, over here!"
"Greetings, Mirumoto-san," you say, making your way over to Hanabi. "It is a pleasure to see you again."
"I feel the same way, Hiruma-san!" Hanabi says cheerfully, gracing you with a wide smile. That expression falters when she sees Himawari, but she presses on ignoring the other woman. "Most of the official discussions between the diplomats are complete for the day, so I've been granted some leave." She moves closer. "Is there anything you wish to see in Shiro Kitsuki? I know all the best places to visit in the city!"
