Girls und Panzer (Enroll Now!)

If anyone needs me, I'll be at Sushi's Discord. Don't worry, I'll be Lurking at the OoC and posting at the IC.

@Sushi
Would Gabrielle be able to perform some type of emergency repairs using her Textbook Repairs skill? Or is the damage either too much or something more suited for Crafts?

The fuel tanks are ruptured and the bay is flooded, so a quick look says you probably can't put it out. It looks like the cat's got a little bit of give left to it, and you might be able to tweak that league-mandated electronic equipment to give the turret drive a bit more juice for an easier shot.

EDIT: This is out of date, go here.

@Yana @Theravis @AlphaD @ILurk
While you're deliberating on actions, this is probably a good time to figure out if you're going to give the tank a name for my records. Thank you! The Panther's profile has had a makeover as well.

You'll have a choice in upgrades once the battle is done also.

@Arvin_Larn @Kensai @Estro
The Glassheart automotive department has given your team an enticing offer for a second tank at a steep discount. Although it would require your savings so far and one Grant, which has to be given from either the captain or the student assigned to R&D. It is supposedly similar in role to your current vehicle, although significantly different in construction.

Venla, you've gotten an offer from the old man you saw BT-Chan's team interacting with; he could tune that rickety old main gun of yours for a price (2).

Also, please provide a name for the Su-76i when you can!

@Sideral @Spiffy @Unlucky Bibliophile
Stella, the ever-loyal automotive club noticed your plight last game. They have some spare parts and offer you a choice: Overhaul the cooling system to reduce the hazard of overheating. . . or an aviation-grade methanol injection system for instant power on demand. Tough call.

And for your hard work, Elena, the quartermaster people have offered you a limited supply of high-quality main gun ammunition, or an extra weapon that you can keep — both compliant with league regulations, you're assured.

@Dirtnap @CompassJimbo
You've received an exclusive offer from one of the local recruiting agents to test out a newly restored tank. It's free, but you'll only be able to use it for one game. All you need to do is provide an interview and likely some juicy gossip. Will you do it? The club head might not be happy with you...

Karin, the quartermaster has managed to find some extra gear for your performance last game. One option would be an improved ready rack so you can load rounds easier from your commander's seat, and other... would be a pair of forward-firing thirty caliber machine guns operated by the driver, an eccentric, if still historical feature.

Catherine, there is something awfully odd about the tank. If you have time for it, the automotive club would like you to swing by to examine the M3 more in detail.

@Tonaris @dryskim @Bahumat
You'll have some upgrades and that special package available to you after the battle is complete. Do your best!

I think that second tank is too good a deal to pass up, and I'm really curious as to what it might be.

And Venla's never going to sniff at a chance to tune up her main mode of interacting with the world at large.

IC: Venla takes a long slow sip of coffee and murmurs a single word, "Sotka".

I mean, the SU-76i is not the greatest of tank. If they'd give us an actual SU-76, I'd totally take it, but the reticence to actually say what the tank is makes me slightly suspicious.

That's a though call indeed and one I'll have to get back into my character's mindset for. Can I wait until I've written at least an IC post?

Apologies for the silence. Night Shift is a pain and a half.

Not bad for Archer Team's first scrimmage, I can't complain at all.

@Kensai @Estro

That the Tank in question is not named is sus as Hell, but I agree that the SU-76i is a stop-gap at best and we need to switch to a better chassis when we can.

And Venla deffo should try and tune up the SU-76i's Gun when she can. Ashley can help out if need be.

I'm leaning towards taking the Automotive Department's offer, personally.

@Sushi

I'll bite: how do we get a Grant from the Captain or the R&D Department?

Just to make sure, it's a weapon for the tank, right?

If so, what are her options?
Vickers Model K or a 2 Inch Bomb Thrower.

I'll express returned interest. Though I'll need to take a read through things cause it's been some time since I made that app.
Sure thing. @Dirtnap @CompassJimbo cool with it?

Just convince the captain or R&D student that it's worth it. We should have 5 when the first battle ends.

I've yet to discuss the name for the Panther with the other members. Maybe a reference to the reference.

Mash? Taiga? Hakuno?

Or something out of left field like Yi, as in Admiral Yi, the legendary Admiral that beat back the Japanese fleet from the Korean Lands with 20 ships against 300.

Oh! Oh oh! What about Edelweiss?

Well, it's a big kitty and it's on fire...

Hellcat— No, wait. Can't do that.

Oh! Oh oh! What about Edelweiss?

Fun fact, an alternative name for an edelweiss flower is Chatzen-Talpen meaning "Cat's Paws". I'm down for this name if only because discovering this second, hidden layer to it has made me stupidly attached for some odd reason.

Regarding our current predicament, I can definitely use my skill to give the turret a little bit of more speed and I suppose we could take advantage of the Panther's KwK Shooter stunt depending on the range as well. Either way, we're going to have to rely on the BT Tank luring the Panzer II into our sights.

Shouldn't be a problem if we play some Eurobeat for them!

What do they both do mechanics-wise?
The Vickers Model K is a twin machine gun with pan magazines, when you engage an enemy as part of your actions, you can help suppress enemies or destroy "soft" targets in the objective-driven modes (where we're not simply killing enemy tanks but have objectives to destroy.) Pretty useful all around; it allows you to pick and engage another target when the gunner is busy, but not so great for engaging enemy armor but you could try to make an enemy button up or a distract them in a pinch.

The Bomb Thrower is an internally mounted mortar that shoots standard-issue British 50mm mortar rounds, primarily WP smoke shells for screening things where the turret is pointing, or firing HE mortar shells useful for blowing up soft targets, particularly ones dug-into trenches or cover. Late-war British tanks had them mounted on the outside as smoke dischargers.

So if I understand the situation correctly:
  1. Only BT and the Panther are still in the fight on our side.
  2. The Panther is currently burning and will be incapacitated soon
  3. BT is being engaged by the Panzer II and the Panther isn't quite in range yet to give support
  4. The Panzer II has the edge over the BT in terms of firepower
I guess the best course of action would be to try and lure the Panzer II to the Panther, since it has far better chances to take out the enemy due to a combination higher shooting stats as well as higher damage.

@Tonaris

Do you think we should keep plinking away with our 45mm or try to suppress them with our machine guns?
HE shells would do a fair job as well.

So I guess the plan of luring the PzII to the Panther while shooting HE at it is a go. I'll start working on a IC post this evening to set the plan into motion.
