Garden of Eden (Worm AU)

My biggest concern is how the power will let us face the big-bads. The huge Brutes who just do not give a f***. The game breakers whose powers are not fair. OR you know Scion and Eden.

Plants looks ok. I can dig that. Depending on the amount of mutations/ growth we are allowed the power has some benefit.

Gravity powers are the same, with some refinement we could get on Pein's level.

Aion would have the most trouble until end-game where (s)he has to rely on others using his tech.

But all of those don't really seem like they could stand against big hitters. More than that each of those needs to be built up in Worm. The place where a person can go from average joe/jane to the scariest motherf***ers the world has ever seen. Where shit is constantly hitting the fan and painting the room in gritty realism and brown trauma.

Eloah we start off with a power that is less "how can I make it stronger" and more "how to I keep down collateral damage." The foresight needed to think of concepts to base the mini-endbringer intrigues me as well. For the most part I am also convinced we could just make a plant/time/gravity mini-endbringer. The power was also stated to grow, as in we could start controling more than one. Eloah seems like the only power that could hold them off the space whales for a limited time.

my animus in this is mostly aesthetic, i simply find ceres more interesting than the alternatives.

many of the arguments for eloha up to now presume a level of flexibility in unit creation that i honestly dont think mortifer intends.

I meant the Traveler's in general being quite possibly the single worst element of the story

And that's without going into Coil and his...disturbingly consistent misplays.

well you could partially handwave coil as him never really learning (or forgetting) how to make prudent choices thanks to his power.

That doesnt really work since critical thinking and it's advantages are the only reason his power would be worthwhile in the first place.

I'm not saying it's poorly written, but realistic it most certainly is not.

Merely having the ability to try two tactics at once is an immense bonus. So, while cricital thinking is definitely required to make the most of it, it isn't needed to make a dangerous foe.

Of course, this doesn't change your second point.

Alright, I was gonna update tonight, but my computer seems to have lost it's ad blocker, meaning that doing something as simple as going to SV is a challenge, and I refuse to post updates from my phone, because I know I'll miss an autocorrect somewhere, and given my track record with autocorrect...

So, yeah. Update further delayed. Sorry.

Eh, I want Eloah

You have checked your programs list for viruses and malware right? If there are ads showing up in odd places, that might be the problem.

Yeah, if your Add block disappeared that could be a sign for mal- and adware on your PC. Had the same problem a couple of weeks ago.
"Malwarebytes Anti-Malware" should help there I think and it is free.

Thanks for the advice. Problem solved.

Votes Locked.

It's been two pages minimum since the last count, so my laziness trait has kicked in. I'm fairly sure Eloah won, but will wait on confirmation before update begins.

Since @WanderingEye did the most recent vote count there's been 3 votes for Eloah, 1 for Aion, and one vote changed from Aion to Ceres, so I think we can all agree that Eloah has won quite conclusively.

Yes, Aion lost, Eloah won...Aion was ahead by 8 votes at one point and it still lost by a long shot because we waited so long to lock to vote, I get it...

...I'm totally not bitter, really. :p

Wait, Eloah Won!? Yeah we won, I totally thought we would have a massive vote change at the last moment.

That name...

Is it your name? Or that of something else. It sounds familiar, at the very least...

You slip the pendant over your neck, and move on.

The only thing other then the dead forest within sight is the mountain, so you decide to go that way. Who knows how long you'd be out here otherwise.

As you walk, you look at your surroundings.

As you drew closer to the mountain, the dead forest got worse. Where trees were once burnt, they became charred stumps. Plants were decaying more and more, more and more tree trunks were laying horizontal on the earth, ripped apart, huge craters littered the ground, dead animals were beginning to appear...

What happened here? This wasn't natural, so something must have happened here.

You briefly consider going in a different direction, preferably one that isn't so ominous and creepy, but given how most of the forest seemed dead, who was to say any other direction would be any better?

As you walk on, you try to remember who you are.

That name... Eloah... Was it your name? The name of someone you knew? Or something else entirely?

And what was with the pendant, anyway? It seemed to be in good condition, whilst everything in this forest wasn't. Was it left there after whatever had caused the forest to end up in it's condition? For what purpose?

Where you meant to find it? It would explain why the name on it seems so familiar, but it raises a lot of questions. Such as who left it, why they left it for you, and why they didn't leave something else. Like a map.

Or food. You really are getting hungry.

Also, the rain was getting heavier. So maybe an umbrella would have been nice. As it is, you doubt that you could get to the mountain in this weather. You could barely see it.

Time to seek shelter, then.

You continue onward, looking around for an intact tree, or a cave, or anything, to block the rain.

It takes you a while, and you are soaked through by the rain, but you do eventually find shelter in the form of a small hut.

It was somewhat damaged, and one of the walls was outright missing, but there was enough of the roof that you could stay under it and out of the rain.

Good enough. You walk to the door, and notice a mirror on the front as you do so.

[X] Write-in Appearance. Include gender and age

After looking at yourself in the mirror for some time, you enter the hut, and become suddenly aware that the inside walls are covered in blood.

There's a lot of it. There's even some dripping from the roof.

In the center of the blood-filled hut is a pile of corpses, surrounding a heavily wounded girl, only ten or eleven years old. She's covered in blood, and her arm seems to be rather limp/

She gives you a pained look. "You..." She trails off, groaning in pain, before continuing. "You aren't with The Order, are you?"

How do you react?

[X] She's hurt. Help her.
[X] Answer her question.
-[X] No, you aren't with The Order.
-[X] What's The Order?
-[X] Write-in.
[X] Ask what happened.
[X] Write-in.

You can vote for more then one option, but voting for too many may have consequences.

[X] Male
[X] 35
[X] Ask what happened.

Someone has to atone for their actions, and someone has to pay. Besides, Mini-Endbringers need a good Boss.
