Gamer's Destiny - New Game Plus

Nobody she knew.

But one of the patrons seemed to have seen her and was now making 'come-here' eyes at her. Rather badly, seeing as he seemed to be badly drunk.

And this was exactly why I liked less crowded bars.

I could only hope that I finished my drink before he worked up all that liquid courage he had tanked and started heading my way.

Wait, I had magic now, right? What good was having it if I couldn't use it to escape awkward and uncomfortable situations?

Come on delusion. Do something! Vanish! Disappear! Go invisible! Poof! Just... something!

While she ran, she heard again the howling. This time far more close than before. Glancing to her left, she could see the wolf.

Now, though, had assumed the shape of a wolf-man, taller than her by a wide margin, fur covering rippling muscles and fangs longer than before. His eyes were fixed on her, both in lust and in hunger.

To make matters worse, the circle of light around her started to slowly shrink. By centimeters.

On the plus side, she could see the end of the forest in the distance: A point where leaves and trees left space to concrete and houses.
I threw the Water Ball in the wolf's direction even as I ran, aiming for center mass. As the attack stuck, I prepared a DarkWater Ball to launch at the creature next.

It would not reach me before I reached the exit, and if I was lucky maybe I'd defeat it before that as well.

The mana simply turned into a ball of energy that splashed against the ooze, sending several droplets all around, already flaking into dust. It didn't work much more than that.

Also, its range was smaller than she thought. Only a couple of steps and its shots couldn't reach her anymore.

I growled. I hurled forth another mana arrow, stepping back as I tried to think up a way to kill this thing.

If something comes around the corner and comes at me, I simply throw a arc at it, channeling it through the staff, on the presumption that 'chaos' and 'orderly system of living tissue' do not care to mix.

After he had called, the sound of claws ticking on the cement and the squeaking intensified.

But nothing came.

Come on delusion. Do something! Vanish! Disappear! Go invisible! Poof! Just... something!

A thin sheen of mana started to cover her form, unformed and unseen... for now.

If she kept on exuding magic, soon it would be visible.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It would not reach me before I reached the exit, and if I was lucky maybe I'd defeat it before that as well.

The wolf-man was clearly surprised that the morsel he was trying to snag had teeth, because he received the attack in his chest, full on. That sent him back a bit, stopping his chase, before he shook his head and recovered, returning to a more animalistic form and starting to run again.

She was almost at the end, just a couple hundred of meters or so. The circle of light kept shrinking, now only three meters all around her.

It would be close.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I growled. I hurled forth another mana arrow, stepping back as I tried to think up a way to kill this thing.

The ooze got hit, several globs of its body flaking off. It retaliated with an high shot, that impacted against the roof and rained down. More diluted, but still dangerous.

-13 HP, -5 HP, -15 HP!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So....

Not actively hostile, but easily agitated?

I advance around the corner carefully, ready for a cornered-animal type response. Just in case.

I screamed, summoned a mana arrow, and pumped 100 mana into it, making the arrow more powerful as I WANTED THIS DAMN SLIME TO DIE!

I didn't dive for the exit, or leap towards the finish line. I just ran, and readied another attack. I wouldn't get overconfident and fail at the last second.

Once he turned the corner, he easily found what was doing the sounds: a single brown rat, trapped into a giant web.

The arrow slammed into the ooze like lightning, making the body splatter around and killing it.

200 meters to the end... 180. 160. 140. 120. 100.

The circle of light kept on shrinking, until it was only large enough for her to stay inside and, soon, it would vanish entirely. The predator was lurking near, ready to attack once she was out of the light's protection.

90... 80... 70... 60... The light only shined over her upper body and just above the knees.

50... 40... 30... Only the head.

Once she reached the last twenty meters stretch, she would be defenseless. The predators was ready.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

...Damn, that's a big web.

"Listen, if you can understand me, just calm down. I'll cut you loose."

In stories about the Fae, kindness towards animals who aren't actively trying to MURDER you is usually rewarded, right?

I wait for the rat to calm down a little before pulling the kitchen knife and slowly, carefully slicing through strands one at a time, aiming to cut the rat loose.

Thanks to the map, navigating the tunnels was pretty easy. Every time he came near a door - that represented a manhole covering up in the streets - the map would update automatically with the information, including where they would appear.

Then, suddenly, a red dot started to walk... no, run towards him.

Fast.

That was not a good sign.

Kyle stepped up against the nearest wall, then went to one knee and held his hand out in front of him with two fingers extended. Using his other hand to support the aiming hand like it was a gun, Kyle waited and prepared to use his mana beam when whatever was approaching came within view and range.

Once she reached the last twenty meters stretch, she would be defenseless. The predators was ready.
And I would not let it. As I approached the end of the path, I formed another Water Ball and threw it at the beast's feet. If it missed, I'd try again until I ran out of mana or hit.

The rat squirmed with renewed energy once he saw him, but he calmed down a bit when he saw that he was trying to free him.

The web was hard to cut: stringy and resistant, his knife got covered in glue halfway the work and he had to stop to clean it.

It was in that moment that the rat started to squeak and struggle far harder than before.

Using his other hand to support the aiming hand like it was a gun, Kyle waited and prepared to use his mana beam when whatever was approaching came within view and range.

Faster and faster, the dot approached. Nearer, nearer....

Then it was on him. But he couldn't see anything.

And I would not let it. As I approached the end of the path, I formed another Water Ball and threw it at the beast's feet. If it missed, I'd try again until I ran out of mana or hit.

The water ball flew true, hitting the muzzle of the wolf while she kept running towards the light. Then another one and another, keeping him at bay, even if the damage done was pretty low.

And, finally, she stepped on the invisible line that separated the two worlds, her legs burning, her lungs aching for air and with the imperative that she stops, right now.

Her stamina was basically empty and she couldn't move another step, only five meters away from the creature.

I fell down onto my knees, before lying down as carefully as possible. I couldn't move another step, and I didn't want to just fall on my face.

Since I got my powers, I'd almost died twice, and it had only been one day. Still, I had also gotten access to magic powers, so in a way it was worth it. Honestly, even this was. I didn't know how much better I'd get from three levels in running, but I had a feeling it was a lot. I just needed a quick nap, then I'd be in top shape.

I felt my eyes closing, exhaustion taking over common sense as I fell asleep right where I was.

I smiled as the money came to me, and I did my stats. I already feel a touch more beautiful. What else was here? I started wandering, keeping a eye out for trouble.

Kyle stood up and immediately started walking backwards, looking around in every direction for any sign he could find to indicate where the signal was coming from - the ceiling, around the floor, even glancing behind him a moment as he tried to find the threat.

The moment he moved, a weight fell on him. It was a web, made of silky grey strands, that blocked him to the ground, without any way for him to escape without taking some time to carefully remove it.

In its wake, a spider, as big as a medium-sized dog, fell on the ground, landing on all of his eight legs, already scuttling towards him, fangs gleaming with poison, eight black eyes soullessly staring at him.

The only saving grace was the fact that the web didn't entangle your hands.

I felt my eyes closing, exhaustion taking over common sense as I fell asleep right where I was.

Only for a second, because soon two windows appeared in front of her.

She could feel her body reshape, the points allocated to CHA working through her body. The skin smoothed over, any blemishes or other defects vanishing into nothingness. And that was only from what she could see.

The tunnels were silent, devoid of life. At the moment.

I held back a curse. Level 5? I was still level one! Still, I would find a way to do it. I did not need that wolf chasing me around.

As soon as I could move again, I was going into the dungeon. And I was going to grind until I hit level five.

Yeah, just as soon as I could move again.

"Sith!" Kyle shouted out loud.

He immediately pointed his hand at the oversized spider and fired a full-strength mana beam at it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Immediately, I begin scanning the area for giant spiders. Or lots of little spiders. I don't discriminate.

If I don't see either, I resume cutting.

If I do, I immediately pull the staff and, assuming it's not on the web, focus on 'fire' before yanking on a arc and throwing it.

If it is on the web, I simply omit 'fire'.

Yeah, just as soon as I could move again.

It took her only a minute and, after that, she was suddenly in possess of her movements. And with a very problematic quest to solve.

Luckily, there was a manhole near her. Also,t he forest where the predator resided had vanished into nothingness... for now.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He immediately pointed his hand at the oversized spider and fired a full-strength mana beam at it.

It took a second for the beam to charge, but after that a lance of light hit the spider center mass, pushing him backwards and making the body smoke lightly by the damage.

It was still alive, though.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If it is on the web, I simply omit 'fire'.

He didn't see it immediately. He did see it, but it was already too late, seeing as a web had fell on him, entangling him and making him lose his grip to the staff.

After that, the spider moved downwards, its eight legs clicking on the bricks, its fang snapping open and close maliciously.

I immediately moved to enter the dungeon, hands clenched into fists. I might have to kill some things with my hands and feet, if only because I didn't trust my mana to last.

I try dumping the web in my inventory, and, at the same time, whether or not it works, fling a arc at the spider WITHOUT the staff.

Kyle fired again with another full-strength blast, this time aiming for the Spider's head and face. If it wasn't enough to kill the creature, hopefully it would be enough to at least cripple some of its most dangerous parts.

I smiled, already feeling so much more beautiful. A quick glance revealed my arms, hands, and fingers looked a bit more feminine then before. Smiling, I continued my journey into the dungeon, knife at the ready. Wonder if I can make a bladed whip by having a mana vine wrap around it?

Once she reached the manhole cover, the same message as before appeared.

Code:

I try dumping the web in my inventory, and, at the same time, whether or not it works, fling a arc at the spider WITHOUT the staff.

The web doesn't enter in the the inventory.

On the other hand, the magic came as easily as with the staff, arcing from him to the spider, stricking him straight into the center of mass.

The very air around the spider turned red with haze, the black eyes glinting in rage, before he started to run straight at him. One of his legs skewered the small rat in the side, before the spider simply collapsed right in front of him, his body eaten through by his blood, apparently having transformed into a powerful acid.

It was enough. The spider got literally perforated, the hole small enough that, if it was stronger, it could have survived it. But it wasn't. And it died.

Her steps were a bit lighter on the ground, the start of a slight waving of her hips while she walked. Soon, she reached a three way split again, but with one difference. At the end of the road to the left there was a treasure chest.
