[X] Call me Katie. Katie Lightcap.
[X] Stories say the military was useless against the monsters! I'll engage it in one-on-one combat!
While the men down there are certainly brave, you know they won't be able to accomplish anything more than a distraction. To really kill this monster, you'll need the help of the Hunter. As you run, glasses flashing in the sunlight, you recall the stories.
More than twenty years ago, humans defended themselves using giant machines, known as Hunters. These hunters were artificial, but had a life of their own, working together with their pilots to save lives and defeat evil. It's idealistic and a little silly-- but it's all you've got.
You round a bend, and come face to face with the gaping maw of a cave. Hopefully, this is it.
Making your way through the cave is difficult work; it's dark, cold, and the terrain's unfamiliar. The tiny flashlight you brought isn't very useful, but it keeps you from being totally blind down here. You sweep it around, trying to find something, anything unusual.
You do.
The cavern opens up in front of you, rock being replaced with tiles of metal, eventually reaching a massive pit in the ground. Inside it, standing at chest-height to the ground, crowded with walkways and ladders, is a massive, humanoid figure. The Hunter.
What does the Hunter look like?
[ ] The Hunter is a slender being, with three V-shaped bands on its stomach, and a pair of massive fins on its shoulders. Though its armour is discolored and crusted with dirt, you can make out a mask-like face that bares a vague resemblance to a bird's skull. The air around it is warm and wet, as if brought on by the breath of some massive giant.
[ ] The Hunter is the picture of a staunch defender, broad-shouldered and tall. You can make out a spiraling cavity in its chest, and a visored head framed by a massive cowl. A faint hum permeates the air, regular and oddly comforting.
[ ] The Hunter is a raw powerhouse in shape, all harsh angles and thick limbs. Each of its arms is nearly the size of its torso, if not larger, and you think you can see an actual face-- a human face-- staring back at you. Looking at it, you can feel a prickle in the back of your head, as if something was passing through your mind.
Each Hunter offers different specialties, combat abilities, and story options from the others-- it's not just cosmetic. However, all are around 80 meters tall, and will gladly serve you-- you think. (Obviously, each one also matches a particular franchise)
