Character Sheet
Character Sheet

THE VAMPIRE (CAULDRON = 6 BATS)
CHARM: +2
COOL: +1
SMART: -1
TOUGH: -1
WEIRD: +3

HARM: 2/13

STRENGTHS
The Cauldron: The Vampire is not limited to one body, and is connected to a swarm of Vampire Bats, granting additional actions.
Vampire's Feast: Harm dealt by The Vampire's fangs or The Cauldron is automatically used to either Heal Harm to the Vampire or generate a new Bat inside the Cauldron. Player's choice.
Vampire's Kiss: To drink someone's blood without Attacking or Defending, Roll +CHARM. On a Miss, you fail and they realize that you're a Vampire. On a 7-9, deal 1 Harm but you also must aid the target later. On a 10+, deal 1 Harm. On a 13+, the target becomes a temporary ally.
Vampire's Venom: To turn someone else into a Vampire, Roll +WEIRD. On a Miss, the target suffers terrible side effects and becomes your enemy. On a 7-9, the target starts out with 7 Harm. On a 10-12, the target starts with 3 Harm. On a 13+, the target starts with no Harm. May only be done to allies, and makes them a permanent ally if successful.
Vampire's Transformations: Add two additional abilities to Spellcast: Turn into a Bat and Turn into a Wolf. Treat roll results as in any other case of Spellcast. The Wolf form both deals and takes an additional +1 Harm when Attacking. The Bat form takes an additional +1 Harm from any source and provides +1 forward on Investigate and Perceive.
Daywalker (Starter): The Vampire, and only The Vampire, may act during the day, granting additional Turns. Negates Daylight weakness for The Vampire. Requires taking Insomniac weakness.
Holy Mark (Starter): Gain +3 WEIRD. Take +1 forward for each successful use of Spellcast. There's an odd marking on The Vampire's tongue...
Youngblood (Starter): Gain +2 CHARM, +1 COOL, and +1 WEIRD. Lose +1 TOUGH and SMART. Take +1 forward for each successful use of Manipulate.

Perhaps there will be more?

WEAKNESSES
Daylight: May not act during the day.
Prohibited: May not enter private spaces without permission.
Silver: You do not show up in silver-backed mirrors or photographs. Harm dealt to The Vampire or The Cauldron by silver weapons is tripled. May not wield silver weapons.
Unholy: May not roll +WEIRD or +CHARM while on sacred ground. Additionally, Vampire's Feast is deactivated.
Insomniac: If The Vampire does not Rest this turn, take Harm equal the number of turns since The Vampire took a Rest Action. Harm is taken at the end of the Turn.
Allergic: Exposure to strong spices and/or herbs deals 1 Harm to the Vampire and/or any Bats present and renders +COOL and +TOUGH unavailable.
No Reflection: The Vampire does not cast a reflection on any surface and cannot be seen by a camera.
Blood-bonded Weapon: The Vampire starts with a 4-harm weapon of the player's choice, to be determined later. Each use of the weapon hurts The Vampire, causing 1 Harm to it. If the Weapon is ever broken, deal 4 Harm immediately to The Vampire and 1 Harm each subsequent turn. If the Weapon is ever lost, The Vampire becomes fixated on getting it back.

the glitch does not occur!
the harm rose would take is negated thanks to the vampire's spell!

edit: oh, and rose also tries to interrogate the captured knight..., with a SMART of +0, that's one question to be answered

First Night (Results, Part 3)

In the West, two Bats fly aimlessly while one goes on a Hunt and draws blood.

In the East, one Bat finds hidden tunnels and magical insects coming out of the enchanted forest.

And in the North, the Vampire is being attacked by a white knight!

The knight is swiftly charging at them, pole-axe brought to bear.

In the space of those moments between the knight's arrival and the knight impaling one of them, two things happen.

One – Rose bites down on her thumbs, smears the blood over her earrings, and is suddenly surrounded by bright light.

Two – the Vampire channels magic through its body once more, and freezes the knight in place, trapping it using its own blood.

"Gah!?"

The knight promptly falls off its wheeled mount, and the silver poleaxe goes flying. Said mount curls away and crashes into a wall harmlessly. The light vanishes from around Rose, revealing that she's now in shiny silver and orange armor. She blinks, taking in the scene, and then turns to The Vampire with a smirk on her face. "Well done!" she says, patting The Vampire on the shoulder. "Now, then, how about some fresh blood?" she asks, pointing at the trapped knight.

As the two walk over to the knight, who is futilely struggling to escape, The Vampire demands the right to hunt in Twilight Town as well, as a reward for a job well done.

Rose laughs. "Of course! I'll be sure to spread the word about you, kid."

She then raises her right hand and a long silver staff suddenly appears and falls into her grasp. With a mighty swing, she utterly shatters the knight's armor...

"ARGH!!"

...also hurting him in the process. The two vampires then peel the armor off, revealing a man with pale white skin and deep black eyes, who demands to be released and swears that he'll be avenged if he isn't.

The Vampire is all set to simply ignore this, but Rose narrows her eyes and bids it to stop. "Hold on... he might not be lying. Let me search him real quick..."

Rose gets in close and grabs his untouched helmet. As she does, she coughs as she gets a good whiff of his blood. "His blood smells odd... but I'm more concerned about this." She then looks inside. Her eyes widen in shock after only a few seconds of searching. "Ah, a tracker and a communicator... guess we have to do this here!"

She then gently puts down the helmet, so as to not accidently activate anything.

The man's eyes go wide. "You wouldn't dare! My fellow knights will destroy you!"

Rose grins, showing her fangs. "That's a risk I'm quite willing to take~!"

Rose is all set to drain this man dry, and so asks if The Vampire is ready to split the treasure.

[][Knight] TIME FOR A FEAST! (The Vampire deals 4 Harm and Rose deals 2 Harm, which is enough to kill the knight based on the Harm he's already taken. Rose gets the silver pole-axe.)
-[][Knight] (if you would like to do something else too, like Spellcast or Investigate, indicate that here)
[][Knight] HOW ABOUT A KISS? (The Vampire suggests trying to turn the knight to their side. At least one of you must roll a 13+ for that to work, however. Rose's CHARM is +2.)
-[][Knight] (if you would like to do something else too, like Spellcast or Investigate, indicate that here)

(Afterwards, what do you want to do? This will end the First Night.)

I'd say you currently have three options.

One - wander aimlessly and I'll give you something small you can poke at next turn.

Two - go one more Hunts in the city and wait for them to come to you. (not right now, but probably sometime the next day or night)

Three - you can write-in an Action to try and find another Knight. You would need to pass a Resolve check to avoid getting into a fight.
(You could also just do this after doing One or Two during the Day)

[X][Knight] TIME FOR A FEAST! (The Vampire deals 4 Harm and Rose deals 2 Harm, which is enough to kill the knight based on the Harm he's already taken. Rose gets the silver pole-axe.) (As the Vampire had taken no Harm up to this point, all 4 points are used to make new Bats!)

First Night (Results, Part 4) / First Day (Vote)

The Vampire is ready. It moves swiftly.

Fangs glistening, it rips out the knight's throat and begins to drink.

Ugh... the knight's blood tastes old and stale... and maybe even rancid... but it's still blood.

The Vampire drinks deeply. But it leaves some for Rose, who finishes him off.

She grimaces as well. "Ugh... Never had blood that tased so foul. If I ever run into one of these guys again, I'll just leave them for dead."

The Vampire suggests to her that she should let it know if she returns and does that. It'll be happy to drink all the blood in her stead, as it can use that to create new bats. In fact, The Vampire starts to do that using the blood it just consumed. There's an exposed patch of ground nearby, and The Vampire tears it up to get the earth it needs to combine with the knight's flesh and blood.

She raises an eyebrow at that. "Oh? That's a curious ability. How'd you learn that?"

...The Vampire didn't need to learn this ability? It just... always knew it could do this? Is this unusual?

Rose ruffles The Vampire's short hair, having already returned to her prior dress. "Yes, but that's not a bad thing." She then glances over at the knight's helmet. "We should go before his friends decide to try and call him. I need to go stash this back home. How about you?"

The Vampire wants to go on a Hunt for more blood, and so the two split up.

This late at night, even the parts of Edge City without the shadowy mist are mostly devoid of people. But after a while, The Vampire does manage to find a person. No, two people! They're stumbling around and leaning on each other for support, totally unaware of their surroundings.

It's the perfect opportunity!

Fangs bared, The Vampire lunges in and Attacks!

It tackles one of the two, who completely fails to defend themselves, and bites them on the arm, drawing blood and lapping it up. This person is screaming, in total panic.

The other person is also screaming, but they don't freeze up or run away.

Instead, they pull out a small cylinder and squeeze it! Suddenly, a harsh mist descends over The Vampire and it chokes! W-what is this stuff!?

The Vampire scampers away from the duo and into the darkness of Edge City...

(Allergic was activated, dealing 1 Harm and rendering further Attacking impossible. However, The Vampire dealt 2 Harm with its one Attack. Would you like to heal 1 Harm or gain an additional Bat?)
[][Blood] Use the blood to gain 2 Bats. Take the 1 Harm.
[][Blood] Use the blood to gain 1 Bat and lose the Harm.

...sulking, The Vampire lurks in the darkness for a while longer, recovering, waiting for the sun to rise.

One it's recovered fully from that harsh assault on its senses, it will strike again!

First Day (Results, Part 1)

Once the sun has risen, The Vampire gets moving. It knows thAT sunlight cannot harm it, and wonders if Rose is the same way. Then again, she seems to not be affected by silver, so maybe she remains vulnerable to the sun's rays?

As The Vampire idly ponders the nature of Vampires in general, it makes its way across Edge City. The shadowy mist is thinner in the day, but remains present. However, its not present throughout the whole of the city. As The Vampire goes further north, the mist gets thinner and thinner until its entirely absent.

People are openly going out and about now, even in the mist-covered areas. The people who have to walk through the mist look apprehensive, frightened, tense. Some of them are masked, and those people seem a bit more at ease. People in vehicles are basically unaffected by it, as are the people walking around where the mist is not. The Vampire is also unfazed by the mist, but it credits that to its vampiric nature.

No, what makes the Vampire suddenly become apprehensive is the sound of a distorted horse's cry in the distance yet again!

The Vampire's gaze (as well as the gazes of the surrounding people) is drawn towards an approaching armored rider in pure white. This one has a battle-axe strapped to its back. The vehicles in the street make way for the rider who slows and stops... right in front of The Vampire.

Uh oh.

"Hey, you!" the knight shouts. "What you got there?"

...wait, is this about something else?

The Vampire gestures towards the sheathed Red Chain Sword, and the knight nods. "Yeah, that! Is that a real sword, kid? You know you can't go carrying stuff like that around, right? ...actually, why the hell aren't you in school? Not like I really care, but you'd better have a good excuse or I'm taking your sword and dropping you off. Fess up!"

Uhh... The Vampire has no idea what the knight is talking about, but feels like admitting it might be a bad idea. Instead, it does something else.

(What should The Vampire do here?)
[] ACTUALLY, I DO HAVE AN EXCUSE. (Manipulate +CHARM)

[x] REFUSE TO ELABORATE. LEAVE. (Resolve +COOL)
-[x] Spellcast: Distract her with a spell so she has worse problems. Take damage yourself to avert suspicion.
--[x] Effect: Deal 1 Harm
--[x] Glitch: Take 1 Harm

Does this work?

I dunno, cause a splitting headache and imitate being affected too so he goes away to look for the source.

that will work, although keep in mind that rolling a 10+ would lead to you not taking the Harm. granted, at that point, she (this knight's a girl) would be distracted and find it hard to give chase.

I'm a squire ser, my master had sent me to this place to check this out. He gave me this sword as well.

First Day (Results, Part 2)

The Vampire immediately comes up with an excuse. It's carrying around a sword and talking to a knight, so it claims to be working under a knight from another city. Said knight, who The Vampire simply refers to as the Red Knight, was the one who sent The Vampire here so check it out. The Vampire was also given a weapon to defend itself with, and The Vampire partially unsheathes the Red Chain Sword to show it off.

The mounted knight whistles as it appreciates the gleaming weapon. "Not a bad story, kid. You even have something that can back you up."

The Vampire smiles at the knight. What story? Obviously, this is the truth.

The knight laughs. "Obviously. And since you're obviously a real squire, that means you should be willing to do that kind of work for me, since I'm a real knight. It's part of your training, after all~!"

The knight removes her helmet, revealing herself to be a woman with short white hair and pink eyes. "My name's Helyblan, a Knight of White Omega! What's yours, kid?"

The Vampire simply refers to itself as the Red Squire, since it has no name to remember. The knight laughs again, and says that she appreciates the kid's commitment to this whole thing. She bids The Vampire to hop onto her vehicle, which she calls a motorcycle, for a short ride. "Hector would tell me to just take your fancy sword and kick you to the curb, but this way's more fun~! Ah, I'd better let the Dargents know though... hey, ki- Red Squire, how can I keep in touch with you? You a telepath or something?"

The Vampire knows it could use magic to communicate mentally to Helyblan, but that magic can be finicky sometimes. Best to use something mundane.

"Alright then, I'm getting you a phone."

As she drives around, the other vehicles – the cars, the buses, the bikes – all get out of her way. Up here in the northernmost areas of Edge City, most of the buildings are tall and most of the people are in suits. It reminds The Vampire that it only has this one suit to wear, and it should probably get more clothes...

After a quick hop inside one of the stores, The Vampire is now that owner of a small rectangle that Helyblan calls a smartphone. The Vampire can use it to call her, but more importantly she can use it to call The Vampire. The Vampire makes a note to get Rose's number when they next meet.

"Alright, so where am I dropping you off?" asks Helyblan as she rides around with The Vampire in tow. "I don't need you for anything right now, but I might tonight or tomorrow."

...in truth, The Vampire was still looking for a base inside Edge City, so...

"Ah, well I have some ideas then~!"

[][Base] "The easiest thing for me would be if you stayed at our tower. The other knights might complain, but if they do, just come talk to me. It's in the very north of the city, by the rivers."
[][Base] "Though if that's too close, you could go across the river to the east and perch atop Mount Grandview. There's plenty of space over there and it's still easy to get to us from there."
[][Base] "Of course, I also won't stop you if you want to make camp in the southern parts of the city, though I'll warn you that things aren't the best down there. Monsters are now roaming around."
-[][Base] "But if you stay by the universities, you should be fine. Not many issues there."
-[][Base] "And if you go to the very south, you'll be able to help out against the beasts."
