Fire Emblem General

I know, them Staves are a pain.

I suppose my main gripe with the Mages in this game is that the Avatar unit is just so damn good. Miriel felt like a third wheel on my team composition and Ricken came too late for me to bother with leveling him. Add to that that they just didn't strike me as the most interesting characters ever and they got the bench. :(

Laurent had his recruitment map going for him, which I liked. But considering that character wise he is Miriel 2... he got the bench too.

A lot of promotions got access to Grimoires too which has put me off from leveling those low level mages. I'll probably train them eventually along with Henry (he got Tharja'd) for supports if nothing else.
Everyone has units they struggle with or just don't like. Me? I'm not fond of flying units. Comes from playing the GBA games first where despite their potency, they were amongst the hardest units for me to keep alive, especially in late game due to the preponderance of Archers capable of one-shotting them.

Edit:
So I've been grinding Reeking Boxes and noticed that I only have Chrom having supports with the Avatar (Male, named Hyne) and Lissa. This has got me thinking - has anyone ever done a "gay" playthrough where Chrom only gets supports with males and female relatives?

Edit 2:
Anybody know if Dread Fighters can use Dark magic or are they limited to Anima?

...
I grinded Priscilla in FE7 to level 20 before promoting her.
I did the same with Moulder in FE8.
And L'Arachel in FE8.

And with Lissa in Awakening.
And with my MU, who was reclassed into Cleric immediately upon me acquiring a second seal. Miracle on +LUK avatar! NOTHING COULD GO WRONG.

Staves are the biggest pain!

But the XP formula in FE:A is relaxed compared to other games, so it is easier at least somewhat.

If it wasn't actually impossible, somebody would have done it.

Since Chrom marries at the end of a chapter, and his child from the future past shows up in a story mission, his wife is determined at that point; which prevents you from making him not have any romantic pairings.
You can let him pair with the villager, though, which may count since said villager never joins your army.

Dread Fighters can only access normal Tomes without Shadowgift; but I assume that you found this out already. :x

elaborate please. not sure what you're talking about
Staff XP in Awakening is higher than in GBAFE/Path of Radiance, which averages to the same as it is in FE4/5, which is a huge step up from the 0 XP staff use of FE1~3.

Or was that increase done in Radiant Dawn? I haven't played it...

All I know is that Heal always gives 11 base XP instead of the 10 it did before and the other staffs also give more XP (Rescue gives 20 in GBA, for example, and I know it gives at least 25 in Awakening).

Staves give twice the EXP.

Nope. I was surprised at the growths.

???
I remember healing with Lissa in the prologue, getting 20 EXP, and going 'This is AMAZING!'

The good old days, FE7-6 were great.

It wasn't as bad when training Serra since I would use up the time to get Erk's support too. Getting those two supported took forever.

Also, didn't the special staves give extra XP in the old games too? Everything Mend/Restore and onwards, I mean. I seem to remember that they did, but I could be wrong, it's been years since I last played the GBA games.

Yeah, the higher level staves gave more experience. Especially stuff like Rescue. Barrier was also pretty good, since you could use it literally every turn regardless of whether someone was actually hurt or not.

I don't know the formula, but there is a level based adjustment given to experience gains. I think base XP is the point at which XP gains stop going down or "the absolute least amount of XP you can get from this action, ever."

I mean I've had healers get up 33 xp for healing before, but that was usually a low level healer in a base class healing a character in a promoted class.

Been playing FE4 recently. Currently on Chapter 1. I have Adean, Quan, Ethlin, Noish, Dew, Azel, and Midir parked outside Marpha castle just grinding XP off Gandolf. Lex and Fin are set to lead Ayra away from Genoa, while Alec and Sigurd are set to take the Castle. Arden is slowly making his way to Marpha to get in on the grinding.

Saved and going to sleep soon.

Had a few crap level ups, mainly from Midir.

BTW Berserker or Warrior, which is better?

Leaning towards Berserker, Counter's kinda ehhh I prefer Wrath+Axefaire. Might have my friend grab Warrior later down the road.

...The minimum XP rate for an unpromoted unit.

In FE7, Heal always gave 10 if healing an unpromoted unit of similar level.

In FE:A, Heal has a minimum XP gain of 11, unless the healer is promoted, in which case it goes down to 6.

...I think. I lost my things, though, so I can't well and go check.

I just know that it was a lot easier to level up a cleric to 20 in Awakening than it was in 7/8.

Berserker except in FE4/5/Awakening.
[I mean, there aren't any in 1/2/3; so...]

4/5, Warrior just has better everything relevant, since Sea tiles are rare and crossing mountains is pointless anyway.
Awakening depends on how you play, I skip them both because axehateisreal.

>_<'

Dart is a Pirate. Screw whatever his advanced class says it is, PIRATE!
Dart is a Pirate, his boss, a Pirate Captain, is a Berserker.

I mean, it seems logical that he'd become a Berserker to follow in his boss's footsteps.

He could meet up with Wil and Rebecca, forget that he's Dart and then remember that he's Dan, and start using a bow, becoming a Warrior!

Because WHIRLYTOP.

Even promoted Dart and his captain are Pirates because Pirates. I'll hear none of this Berserker talk :p

Berserkers have +Crit and promote from both Brigands and Pirates.

Also Hawkeye.

Berserkers are glorious, despite their frame count being awful.

Was checking in Barracks for Robin's birthday.
Unfortunately, noone seems to have a full list of birthday quotes.

Unlike every other birthday, the Avatars has characters in your army wishing you a happy birthday on the bottom screen.
Most are essentially "Happy Birthday, [Avatar]!", but there's some variations.
For example, Gaius's is essentially "Happy birthday! ...Can I have some cake?", Gangrel is "So it's your birthday. Big deal.", and Henry's is "Happy birthday! Good thing you lived to see it!"

Do the wiki and Serenes not have them all?

*checks*
Seems so.
Unfortunately, they're all on seperate pages, so I have to go hunt them down.
