Final Fantasy XV - The legend meets its match

There's a mace in Comrades that's also hilariously fun. It's a bit of a pain to unlock and I forget what I upgraded it from but it creates explosions of Light/Holy damage. Super useful in a lot of ways.

Article:
In an unexpected announcement today, Square Enix announced the cancellation of three of the four planned Final Fantasy XV episode expansion packs and also confirmed that game director Hajime Tabata has left the company. Tabata's last day at Square Enix was October 31.

The canceled Final Fantasy DLC episodes include Aranea, Lunafreye, and Noctis. The fourth one, Ardyn, remains in development, and is scheduled to launch in March 2019.

The expansion packs were being developed by Luminous, the new Square Enix internal studio. However, that team will now focus on making a new AAA game, though it hasn't been announced yet. In an earnings report, Square Enix announced a major change to Luminous that resulted in an "extraordinary loss" amounting to $33 million. Until now, it wasn't know what that loss was related to, but now it looks like it's connected to the DLC cancellation.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I'M SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!

Oh well. Had a good time with what we got, bit sad about the cancellations, but oh well. This game lasted longer and got more post-release stuff than I expected and enough to satisfy me.

Oh well, at least there's Ep Ardyn to do and that FFXIV collab thing with a Garuda fight.

Also that Episode Ardyn teaser from the stream just opens more questions.

Like, why were there already magitek troopers when they found Ardyn when Nifelheim didn't really go into Magitek until after Ardyn joined them?

Regis confronting Ardyn armiger to armiger is also weird since that means Regis also knew all along that Ardyn was a Lucis Caelum.

Fuck.

The way the last batch of DLCs went I was really looking forward to these ones!

I was really really looking forward to Aranea DLC and Luna DLC because I want play as the former and know more about the latter. But WELP those went down the drain unfortunately. Here hoping they'll put it into other format like short novels or something else.

The only one we'll be getting out of the four now

Well, we get a look at Somnus/The Mystic's human face now

A sad end to one of the most unique sagas in gaming. Love it or hate it, the level of support for FFXV following release was really unusual and produced some really interesting material. Moreover, while he'd always been a powerful creator I think Tabata really proved himself in FFXV and I'm really looking forward to seeing where he goes.

And while I really would have liked to have seen all four of the 'second season' DLCs, ending on Episode Ardyn isn't a bad send off. The teaser looks great.
