Your name is Ritsuka Fujimaru, a Freshly graduated high school student looking for his purpose in life. Things get real weird real fast after a chance blood drive happened and pulled you into a world you never could've prepared yourself for.

Faced with the ever mounting stress that comes with being the Last master, Equipped with nothing but your wits and skills, and saddled with a Mind liable to fracture from the sheer stress of it all, It's up to you to somehow make it to the end of this job with your life intact and your sanity not too far gone. Good Luck.

When you first opened your eyes the first thing You noticed was that you were on the ground of an Elevator your most recent memory being of a simulated battle that was interrupted by one of the bouts of Narcolepsy that plague you. At least it didn't lead into a very strange dream....again.

Beyond that....You remember being pressured into joining this organization called Chaldea, after you did a blood drive for them something about 100 percent Rayshifting compatibility? Honestly the words went over your head, but the guy just wouldn't stop asking and you had to give in eventually. Which well you did. It was a controversial move taking a Job without going to college first but in the end your parents came around. Your sister on the other hand gave you shit about it in her own loving way.

And even more beyond that you remember the past years of your life, the years that changed and shaped you as a person, from a kid into the Young Man you are today. They also determine what you bring to Chaldea, and considering you think you can hear someone coming to check up on you, you should probably gather yourself together, maybe literally pick yourself up, and put your best foot forward despite the wooziness still around you.

Choose your Path:
[] The Jock: You were a part of the High School Sport's team, which one? eh..that's not important, but what is important is that this has made you a physical powerhouse, quite dexterous and you seem to have a decent understanding of yourself, although intellectually you know only enough to get by...maybe not even that. (Int 2, Psych 3, Phys 5, Tech 4 Favored Skill is Physical instrument)

[] The Socialite: You knew pretty much everyone in the neighborhood, and got along with everyone in school. You may or may not have unwittingly had a lot of admirers giving you the look every now and then. Skills wise You know yourself and others quite well and have grown smart after being asked to tutor others. Physically you are quite healthy but technically you are a bit slow on the uptake (Int 4, Psych 5, Phys 3, Tech 2, Favored skill: Suggestion)

[] The D&D Player: You had a small tight nit group of friends and one of your favorite passtimes are D&D and other tabletop RPGs and the like. As such you are skilled at number crunching and the technical skills needed to bring the game to life to the point where your internal calculator has become...something else , you have an alright understanding of yourself and others but Physically you are quite weak. (Int 5, Psych 3, Phys 2, Tech 4 Favored skill Visual Calculus)

[] Mecha Fanatic: like the DnD nerd you are smart but this manifests more as a love for technology and Mechas in general. Your technical skills and intellect are given the most priority, and you are surprisingly fit, but your distance away from humanity tends to do bad things to your understandings. (Int 4, Psych 2, Phys 3, Tech 5, Favored Skill Interfacing)

[] The Average Joe: You didn't have a niche in the past and that's perfectly fine, not everyone has to do that and there's something to be said about just letting yourself be yourself without being pushed to one extreme or another. (Int 3, Psych 3, Phys 3, Tech 3, Favored skill Volition)

[] Build your own path: No...none of these seem right. You walked a different path back then and it goes like this. (See character creation rules)

So first things first, hi welcome to this quest about Ritsuka Fujimaru and the voices in his head, they're being quiet for now but trust me they'll be speaking up soon. Now as for character creation to determine how much they speak up or how successful they can be the Stats are like this.

This character creation follows Disco Elysium rules with the exception of an extra point to be invested in whatever Stat you wish, I justify this by making Ritsuka not a alcoholic (not yet at least) and so he hasn't irreparably damaged his mind and body beyond the point of no return, that and because of an Extra, Hidden Stat that the Average joe path inadvertently invested in. One that would be unlocked in the story after the tutorial Singulairty.

I'm talking about Magecraft, or Mag, for now it's a hidden stat with Skills that will be revealed when prompted...Or you could choose the Build a Path option and make what I'll call a Moonlit path.

Moonlit path: A Moonlit path is a backstory where Ritsuka isn't the first generation magus, instead his Mother is a Mage who wanted out of Mage society and wanted to raise her kids as ordinary people. or as Ordinary as the children of a military dad and a Magus mom can get. This has the effect of making Ritsuka just slightly less shit at Magecraft with a special thought that influences how magecraft skills are implemented for the better, however to use this path is to give up that extra point and to have untapped potential in one of five skills.
1.Internal Circuitry (Physical skill, presides over how well you can use Mana Cricuits within you to do stuff)
2.Artifice (Tech skill, how well you work with Mystic codes and technomagecraft in general.)
3.Army of Shadows (Psych Skill, how well you can use chaldea's shadow servants and how accurate you can make them to the real thing)
4.Astral Self (Int Skill, how well you can navigate the dreams you are pulled into, helps with out of body experiences, makes being whisked away mentally in your sleep a much less dangerous thing.)

You can only ever start with a 1 in it regardless of which path you take considering Ritsuka has been raised as a Normal human and not a magus.

Thoughts: Considering Ritsuka isn't an Amnesiac (yet) I feel like it would be a profound thing to start him off with three already internalized thoughts, one he has no matter what, the other two would be decided by the path you choose or make for him. and his thought cabinet stacks, Thoughts can also be aquired by going through the story, or good enough omakes.

And that should be it for character creation, you can go ahead and get to voting now.

Character and stats
Ritsuka Fujimaru:

Endurance: 2/3

Morale: 4/4

Path: The D&D nerd (Int 5, Tech 4, Psych 3 Phys 2 Favored Skill: Visual calculus)

Background: Ritsuka Fujimaru is a teenager fresh out of High School and pressured into taking a Job at Chaldea, he comes from a fairly normal family with a loving mom and dad, and a twin sister, of the fraternal verity. In the past most people who knew him would describe him as a smart kid with a bright future ahead of him but would admit (either to themselves or out loud) that Ritsuka is kinda wimpy.

Skill Breakdown:

Intelligence: 5
  • Logic (Solve the puzzle, put together the details, wield raw intellectual power. At high levels you'll be able to solve puzzles with ease but will be prone to intellectual flattery, causing you to play into others hands even when you know better. Too low and well, even if you have all the peices of a picture you'll struggle to put it together.): 5/10
  • Encyclopedia (Take information you know and apply it to the current situation, use the trivia to connect the details, retain the information given to you. At high levels it will say both the important thing and a whole lot of unimportant informations which while nice to know will slow you down. But if it's too low you'll be forced to learn things in the moment in order to proceed having an incomplete picture.): 5/10
  • Rhetoric (Debate people, spot fallacies in wordings, dissect and pick part statements to get what you can from it. Raise it too high and have your beliefs become as a mighty tree, slow to change and hard to chop down, but keep it too low and you'll be pushed around by those better at you in wordplay): 5/10
  • Drama (Play your parts, see what parts other play, lie and suss out the lies of others. Roleplay with the best of them. At High levels wearing masks and saying lies is second nature to you to the point where you struggle with the truth. Too low however and you struggle to act or see past the acts of others ): 5/10
  • Conceptualization (Be creative, be it making stories or items, drag out ideas and refine them into something better. At High levels you'll be pressured to go big or go home with every action forgoing simplicity with grand plans with many moving parts. But with this too low you couldn't create your way out of a paper bag.): 5/10
  • Visual Calculus (Use math to recreate scenes from the past, or use it to visualize what could happen in the future, there's no consequence for raising this too high, but too low and you'll barely be able to reconstruct what happens around you accurately): 6/10
Psychological: 3
  • Volition (Keep yourself together, find the will to keep going, resist temptations. The Mental/Spiritual half of your Moral compass always pushing you to do the right thing. When raised too high you become boring, and prone to bouts of nostalgia for better days before you ended up in Chaldea but if it's low you become profoundly unstable liable to freak out at the drop of a hat.): 3/6
  • Inland Empire (Give voice to the voiceless, gain insight into what you can't naturally learn, Unnatural Intuition, Inland Empire is the power of your raw imagination applied to the world around you, altered by your unique circumstances. At high levels you'll be talking to the equipment, to the clothes and weaponry of others gaining information from them but definitely having others look at you funny, too low however and you'll struggle to apply your imagination to the world around you.): 3/8
  • Empathy (Relate to others and understand how they feel, how they REALLY feel. At high levels this becomes utterly invasive as you get hit with the full force of their emotions and are compelled to act out on the whims of others, but with it being low you'll struggle to figure out how anyone feels and act on it without people telling you.): 3/6
  • Authority (Assert yourself, figure out the hierarchies of others, figure out how far to push others so they lose control. At high levels you become a control freak needing to have a hand in everything so they don't go wrong, Spartacus WILL smell the seed of Oppression in you, at low levels however you'll never be able to assert yourself.): 3/6
  • Fellowship (Connect to others in high stress situations, relate to other Masters. Though Chaldea's master population is...in the single digits there has to be others like you..somewhere. This skill allows you to tune into what they might be feeling. At high levels your loyalty to them will be so strong you'd take a bullet for them, but at low levels you'll stumble through your career and situation without much connection to those who can share their experience): 3/6
  • Suggestion (Charm the people, Play them like a fiddle. At high levels Suggestion makes you an expert at wielding the soft power of words making you affable to everyone and more resistant to the charms of others at the cost of the every increasing desire to abuse said charm. But at low levels you'll struggle to get people to like you.): 3/6
Physical: 2
  • Endurance (Take the blows, resist the stress. At high levels Endurance makes you able to walk off a lot, and I do mean a lot, but makes you so accustomed to it that you are genuinely surprised when the others can't keep up with everything. But when it's low you struggle to handle injuries, and could very easily die.): 2/4
  • Pain Threshold (How much damage you have to take before it becomes noticeable. At High levels all types of pain struggle to make you feel much but risks enabling a self destructive spiral. Too little of this and you fold easily to all types of pain): 2/4
  • Physical Instrument (The body is an instrument, refine it and use it. With High levels you gain...a bit of an obsession with always getting stronger, thinking it could be the answer to all of your problems. At low levels your muscles will be weak and frail and you'll struggle to do much physical actions.): 2/4
  • Electro Chemistry (Let yourself lose, Chase worldly pleasures, enjoy life. The Physical Part of the Moral compass as doing good feels good, as well as the embodiment of your pleasure seeking tendencies. At high levels you become an unapologetic hedonist urged to indulge in everything regardless of circumstances, at low levels however you'll have trouble looking at ways to mitigate the stress of the job and that stress piles on fast.): 2/4
  • Vibes (The little brother/downgraded form of shivers tap into the vibrations of the room or building you are in to get a read on the situation and the people in it. Upgrading it into shivers could take time and effort. Also pain.): 2/6
  • Half Light (Your Danger senses, the knowledge to run to live another day. At High levels you become paranoid and jumpy, both correctly sensing the danger around you and are always ready to start running, but at low levels your survival instinct is similarly weak and you'll have no idea about the dangers around you until it's too late.): 2/4
Technical: 4
  • Hand Eye coordination (Ready? Aim and Fire. At high levels your aim is impeccable and you'll want to show it off and use it whenever you can. At low levels however your aim is terrible and could easily hurt your allies): 4/8
  • Perception (the Five senses, pretty self explanatory, at high levels your senses will reveal everything about an area and depending where you are it could easily overwhelm you. But at low levels you won't be able to use your senses to discern much of anything.): 4/8
  • Reaction Speed (Think fast, Move faster. At High levels you'll be high strung and may be liable to react before getting all the details but at slow levels you could let important information slip through your hands because you were too slow on the uptake): 4/8
  • Finesse (Finesse is how well you maneuver through situations and how cool you look doing it, the Savoir Faire replacement and as such at high levels you'll be the coolest Master on the planet managing to get into and out of places like some sort of Super-spy, it also makes you prone to developing an ego because of it. When it's low however you'll struggle to catch some keys tossed to you by your friends.): 4/8
  • Interfacing (Interfacing allows you to connect with machines and exploit human weakness in tandem. At high levels you are compelled to sneakily take what you want by picking locks and stealing stuff unnoticed, as well as making you more used to talking with machines than people. But at low levels you'll have trouble understanding technology and will be generally less dexterous with your hands): 4/8
  • Composure (Keep the pain inside, see how others composure cracks. Composure is what allows you to reassure others that your fine even when you are most emphatically not. At high levels that façade of "Everything is fine" is so strong you keep it on everywhere you go, but at low levels you'll struggle to keep it together physically): 4/8
Magecraft: 2
  • Internal Circuitry (Cast spells without specializing in them or a Mystic Code, act as the conduit between Chaldea's mana generators and your servants, draw mana into yourself or send it out into your contracts. Internal Circuitry is a measure of how well you can use your singular mana circuit and how much power you can channel through it without suffering side effects. There is no consequence for keeping this high but at low levels you won't be able to do much with the mana you have access to) 2/4
  • Artifice (The magecraft equivalent of Interfacing, this is a measure of how well you can comprehend Mystic Codes and how much benefits you can wring out of them. At low levels you'll struggle with mystical items and artifacts, incapable of using all but the simplest Mystic Codes to your advantage but at High levels you get a bit of a mad scientist bent, thinking that for every situation there's a perfect item of Artifice to tackle it, ignoring the simple solutions. For example using Golems to solve every problem.) 2/4
  • Army of Shadows (A form of Spiritual Evocation thought up by Chaldea, capable of summoning Shadow Servant copies of anyone and Everyone you've ever made a contract with. Provided their spirit origin details are secured. At low levels the shadow copies you summon are shoddy replicas nowhere even close of making a passing resemblance of the original, but at High enough levels the replicas become...disturbingly self aware and very much like their Servant selves) 2/4
  • Astral Self (Navigate, make sense of, and control the way your mind is tossed around like a ragdoll during your dreams, rayshifting, and any sort of travel that makes you have any sort of out of body experience, yes even actual astral projection. It won't be enough to stop it but it can be enough to ground you for a while so that you don't go in fully blind. At low levels your mind will still be tossed around as is, but at high levels you begin to attract...attention.) 2/6

Thoughts/Mystic Codes and their effects
Thought Name:Problem:Solution:
Magical NarcolepsySo this narcolepsy that has followed you around since the day you were born is weird, a pain in the ass, and has a tendency to send you into these weird dream comas where you only awaken after a certain objective in that dream is completed. With what you know about yourself now there is a chance that it might be a Magus affliction. Is there something that can be done about it?You've put in a lot of thought about it and you've come to the conclusion that you can't do much about it. You have no idea how Magic and mages work, it might just be for the best that you cope with it and work on dealing with it on the inside.
Effects:
"Forced Familiarity"+2 rolls to those about dreams.
"Let's get Lucid" Increases Astral self's learning cap by 2.
An ordinary LifeA first generation Mage, that's what the Pamphlet you received during the plane ride to Chaldea said, filling you in on the bare basics of what Chaldea is a part of.
So it looks like your a bit behind, well a Lot behind on the world Chaldea belongs to. No matter, surely there's surely something from your past upbringing you can use to bridge the gap?
.....Yeah. that's just wishful thinking right there. The world Chaldea belongs to and your own world are very different beasts. Being able to find your way in one doesn't guarantee a way to navigate well in the other. But that doesn't mean you're completely helpless. You just need to stick to what your good at and you'll thrive.
Effects:
"Work with what you've got"-Whenever you succeed a roll with your best stat, regain 1 Morale. Regain 2 if you succeed with your favored Skill.
"Insurmountable gap"-lose 1 Morale whenever you fail a Mag Skill check
Number CruncherSo you're a reserve master? So what? That doesn't mean that you can't find other ways to make yourself useful. You're good with numbers yeah so you can definitely find some way to help out when not on the field.According to your calculations the best way to help while off the field with your skillset would be to aid the logistics section of the area, surely actually managing the resources that come into this place and are used by the employees there can't be easy. Right? ...Well even if it is it's gotta be better than waiting.
Effects:
"Numerical Minded" Unlocks new dialogue about resource management, and options.

Mystic CodeAffectSpells
Chaldea Mystic Code+1 Fellowship (Chaldean newb)
+2 Logic (Simple spells for Simple problems)
+1 Inland Empire (Your first steps into the moonlit world)
First Aid (restores health to a servant and Endurance to either yourself or another Master.)
Instant Enhancement (Increases attack power on Servant, increases Physical Instrument on Master)
Emergency Evade (Automatically succeed the next Finesse or Half Light roll to dodge)

Weaponry/Offensive Mystic CodeSkill and DamageSecondary AffectExperience
Magus Hunter Pistol (Unidentified Gun)Uses Hand Eye Coordination, Deals one Wound. Can be loaded with Strange Ammo. When this Bullet of unknown origin is loaded it will deal extra damage to Casters or anyone with Mana Circuits or anyone with an internal system that regulates supernatural energies0/100 (Level one and DC reduction in 100 XP.)

Servants, Co-workers and Relationships
Welcome to the relationship tracker, while actual relationships may be anything but simple, the tracker makes it easy to well keep track of the three generalities, well 4 really. Who they are (their name along with a short blurb of what Ritsuka knows about them) How they fare (basically their status, whether or not they can join you or aid you in their current state) and the effects they have on you/the story/ your rolls.

For Heroic Spirits however, since there are so many of them We'll only be keeping track of those whose prominence rises during the story. There are three Heroic Spirits who are the exception to this rule and will be treated like Humans in terms of relationship tracking. if you know, you know. If you can guess, please keep it to yourself until I make the three reveals.

If you raise your Vibes, Inland Empire, or Interfacing High enough, I'll even start to track your relationships to things you wouldn't expect to track.
Mash Kyrielight: The girl who found you when you first passed out, she seems like the quiet introverted type but also kinda spacey from what little time you've spent around her which admittedly isn't much. Fou's caretaker.
  • Status: Changed into something...superhuman.
  • Relationship: Senpai and Kouhai...or so she says.
  • Effects:
    • Protective: Mash seems to be good with a shield, and very willing to take the blows for you if she can. At least if her protecting you against a Skeleton is any indication. Whenever you fail to dodge an attack and Mash is nearby, she Will use her shield to halve the damage, or take it if she can't halve it for you. Any damage halved below 1 deals no damage. Still hurts though.
    • ???
    • ???
    • ???

Ophelia Phamrsolone: An eyepatch wearing brown haired girl with a penchant for elegant if a bit outdated clothing. At least you assume that's the style she's going for. A fellow Master and seemingly has experience in...you'll assume summoning shadowy people to fight alongside. You don't know how to pronounce her last name, yet.
  • Status: A little banged up physically but fine enough to function. Probably.
  • Relationship: Two co-workers thrust into hell.
  • Effects:
    • Experienced Summoner: Ophelia seems to know what she's doing, and maybe by getting advice from her, you can also do what she does, Adds a +1 modifier to all summoning based rolls while she's in the party.
    • A second Mystic Code: A perk of there being two masters? Twice the Mystic Codes and that means double the buff potency and double the buffs that can be applied. As soon as you figure out how to get yours working I mean. Until then she's the only one who can use the Mystic Code.
    • ???:

Doctor Romani Archaman: A nice, if a bit- no scratch that, he's more than a bit lonely, doctor. Your third friend here and possibly his first new one.
  • Status: Alive. But currently acting as the director until Chaldea recovers Olga marie.
  • Relationship: New Friends, possibly his only one.
  • Effects:
    • Doctors Orders: all healing (whether it be Physical or Morale) is boosted by one while he provides his support.

Lev Laniur: One of your first friends here in Chaldea and apparently the head Technician of Chaldea, as he's apparently behind Sheba, the Near-Future Observation lens.
  • Status: ....It's Doubtful, but there's still a chance right?
  • Relationship: He's a cool dude and you want to take notes about his work.
  • Effects:
    • Father of Sheba: As the creator of the Near-Future Observation lens he has to be your superior on Visual Calculus AND Interfacing, so by working with him maybe some of that genius will rub off on you? You gain a plus 2 modifier to all rolls concerning Visual Calculus and plus one to Interfacing.
Olga Marie Animusphere: the Director of Chaldea which makes her your Boss. and you fell asleep in front of her on day 1. pair that with her temperamental personality and you REALLY aren't on good terms with her. Still there's always time to turn that first impression around. if she let's you.
  • Status: Alive and Rattled.
  • Relationship: Begrudgingly tolerating you as one of the last two active masters around.
  • Effects:
    • Get it Done: With her as your Boss it's clear that, for now, she only cares if you can do well at your job or not. Gain a plus one to all checks pertaining to your Job.
    • Canary in the coal mine: Unlike you Olga seems to be more attuned to the dangers of the world, you gain a bonus success modifier to Passive Half Light checks.
    • Speak with Authority: Speaking with Authority, something she's trying to do, and is mostly succeeding at. But if you pay close attention you'll find cracks in it, cracks that other people in leadership might have. While she is in the party gain a + 2 bonus to all Authority checks.

???: You haven't met this staff member yet
  • Status: You don't know
  • Relationship: Strangers
  • Effects:
    • Placeholder:

In the interest of making this as game accurate as possible, and yet not as frustrating, all heroic Spirits, summoned will start out at 0 Strength.

Strength is the measure of well how strong a heroic spirit can be, basically it's to keep track of their Ascension and Skill level put together. You can Increase Servant Strength by spending materials, something to gather during the weeks where you aren't in a Singularity or an Event,

Next up we have bond levels, Bond will be measured with Relationship here. the Former to show the compatibility increasing between Master and Servant meaning not only will the Heroic Spirit want to do more, techniques relying upon the power of friendship are stronger. Relationships will just show where you and the Servant are currently at.

Finally in terms of Effects, for now these will just be generic Stat boosting ones for now. At least until I can hammer out the real game changing stuff I want Servant Effects to be.

Charlemagne: Your ancestor if the looks are to be believed and and the leader of an order of paladins, he's someone who's got a strong sense of morality and Empathy. a Stalwart ally for these though times.
  • Strength: 0
  • Bond: 0
  • Effects:
    • Soul of unity: While Charlemagne seeks coolness, what he really wants is for others to think of him as cool and as such he'll encourage people to be more mindful of others. All Empathy checks gain a plus 2 Modifier.
Archer (Real name unknown): An old British man who is clearly the professor type considering you and he have high Visual Calculus. For some reason he's keeping his real name a secret, but maybe you can figure it out before he deigns to reveal it.
  • Strength: 0
  • Bond: 0
  • Effects:
    • Professor's studies: Archer is very clearly someone who is smart, otherwise you wouldn't have summoned him with mental math, and with him around he'll be improving it. Gain a plus 2 to all Visual Calculus checks.
Scathatch: Not your servant, her contract is with Ophelia. however you still benefit from her presence and experience for as long as she's in your party. As for what you know about her, she is the teacher of Cu Chulainn, the queen of the Land of Shadows, and an all around badass.
  • Strength: 0
  • Bond: 0
  • Effects:
    • Teacher of Shadows: Scathatch in the legends is the combat instructor of many, her training meant to bring you to the peak of what you could do, and should she find your peak below her standards, have you push past it. You gain a plus two modifier to Physical Instrument and all checks concerning it.

Prologue: Welcome to Chaldea!
Gained Pre-Internalized Thought: Magical Narcolepsy?
Gained pre-Internalized Thought: an ordinary life
Gained pre-Internalized Thought: Numbers Cruncher.

Right, that feels about right...You think. That is, you getting up off of the ground and standing up on your own two feet that is.

Letting out a Yawn you step out of the Elevator and try to act casual, as if you weren't sleeping on the ground of the elevator a few moments ago when you would see a girl with pink hair and glasses approach.

....Huh. You must be more tired than you thought, or less stressed than you expected, because even when not in emergency mode those two always pipe up when your around a girl you'd consider cute. Regardless you should probably greet her. So you go to wave at her and approach and-

Reaction Speed (Medium: Success!): You just barely catch yourself before you hit the floor...You're starting to wonder if this is more jet lag than your own disorder, because that shouldn't be happening. Or maybe it was whatever they did to hide the location of Chaldea from you. Regardless it's clear you'll be fighting off sleep for the rest of the day.

The girl seems worried about this and approaches you, looking more concerned.

???: "Senpai....are you okay?"

Reaction Speed (Medium: Success!): You notice that before she asked you for your name, she defaulted directly to Senpai.

Encyclopedia (Easy: Success): ...You remember that word, both from your visits to your mother's Family back in Japan and from your one anime loving friend insisting you watch what he was watching. Regardless, the word means Upperclassmen which means you are probably a year or two older than her judging from looks alone.

Ritsuka: "Yeah...I'm..I'm fine. Just tired."

Composure (Hard: Failure): You couldn't stop the yawn that came out after that, no matter how much you wanted to.

Ritsuka: "So uh, just so we're not on titles all the time. Hi, my name is Ritsuka Fujimaru. What's your name?"

???: "that's a hard question to answer Senpai. Maybe I'm not important enough for you to know my name?"

She was quiet for a couple of seconds before continuing.

???: "No, I have a name, a proper name. But I've never really...had the chance to use it. I'm afraid i don't make a good first impression....Anyways uh...Senpai I have a question."

Ritsuka: "Ask ahead then."

???: "So...Earlier while I spotted you, you looked like you were going to pass out right there on the floor. And I was wondering uhm...is it because the floor reminds you of a hard bed?"

Composure (Medium: Success): This time you do keep the unwanted action...or reaction I guess, off of your face. You certainly weren't expecting that.

Ritsuka: "Oh uh...no. No, I don't sleep on a hard bed. Rather I have...this condition that comes and goes, makes me tired as all heck, and combined with the, well I assume it's jetlag...I think my body just needs a bit of rest."

It was at this point you noticed a small furry...cat squirrel creature...maybe a cryptid? they might be real, circle around your legs, giving them a sniff before sitting beside The Girl.

???: "Fou! Kyuu! Kyao!"

???: "I completely forgot. I still haven't introduced you yet. have I Fou?"

She gestures to the creature known as Fou.

???: "This Squirrel-Like creature is Fou, he's a privileged life form allowed to freely walk around Chaldea. Fou led me here and that's how I ran into you Senpai."

Fou: "Fou, Mmkyu Fou."

Fou runs off, to some other part of Chaldea no doubt.

???: "He ran off again, he does that sometimes. Just walks around."

Ritsuka: "I've never seen anything like him before."

???: "Yes. He normally doesn't approach anyone aside from me. But he seems to like you Senpai. Congratulations, now you shall be the second caretaker of Fou in Chaldea"

Empathy (Hard: Failure): You can't tell if she's being sincere about this or not, no matter how much you try.

Then, another person walks into view. a man in all green, with a purple tie, and a green top hat. It takes all you have not to stare at him.

Composure (Heroic: Failure): It's not enough, you end up staring at him regardless. Luckily he doesn't seem to notice. For now."

???: "Ah there you are, Mash. That won't do at all. Wandering around without permission...Oh."

The man notices your presence, as in he just registered you standing there.

???: "You are...Oh I see. You must be one of the last of the rookies who just got assigned here my name is Lev Laniur. I'm one of the technicians who work here."

Ritsuka: "Ritsuka Fujimaru. Nice to meet you."

Lev: "Hmm..Ritsuka, so you must be the last of the 48 candidates. Welcome to Chaldea, I'm glad you're here."

Ritsuka: "Thanks I appreciate that."

Lev: "I heard you were selected out of many Public Applicants. How long was your training? A year? Six Months? 3 Months?"

...And there it is. You can feel the gears in your head turning, bringing you into what you call your Emergency Mode. Whenever you're placed into a situation where you don't want to mess up, or under a whole lot of stress, like making a good impression on someone, or utilizing a skill to its fullest, or acting under a time limit Your skills develop voices to help you through to the best result.

Drama: Well, clearly if we want to make a good impression we should probably Lie sire. Something that'll instill confidence into him while if we underperform we cannot be blamed. I'm thinking one to two months M'lord.

Composure: Or, alternatively we can just stonewall him. There's something to be said about stonewalling him and letting his imagination do the work.

Volition: Look do we really need to do all of that. Let's just be honest. He seems like an okay guy, surely he's got to understand.

Unfortunately when not focusing on bringing the most out of one skill, each one has their own interpretation on how the best way to proceed is. Luckily Emergency mode is a temporary thing so this is only a short term problem.

Choose one:
[] Lie about your Training (medium difficulty DC: 10)
[] Stonewall him (Medium Difficulty DC: 10)
[] Admit the truth (Default action)

Prologue: Unoriented, Disoriented, and Gone.
You think about lying to make yourself look better in the eyes of this man but in the end, you decide not to.

Volition: Thank you. trust me you'll see that this is for the better.

Drama: Not what I would've done, but I trust you know what your doing.

Decision made, you can feel the skill voices receding back into your subconscious, as you try to remember what little information you have.

Ritsuka: "Well...Not a lot really. Just a quick, debriefing Pamphlet and the Simulation. They just flew me in today you see."

Lev: "Oh? So you're a complete amateur?"

He would look confused before realization crosses his face.

Lev: "Right....come to think of it we did call for applicants just to fill numbers. So you're one of them?"

Number Cruncher Dialogue:
(Throughout the Quest, there will be new bits of Dialogue options that pop up due to any number of variables, in this case it's having the Number Cruncher Thought. This allows you to flesh out Fujimaru more, make headway into new thoughts and open up new options. Mechanically this only serves as Actual FGO like textbox choices, it doesn't really impact the story beyond Fujimarus headspace. EDIT: When these choices are made, the unchosen choice is deleted, and the Dialogue, outside of these line breaks are changed.)

[X] Claim to be more of a Number Cruncher than a Filler (Enables more bad joke/trying to be comedic Dialogue option choices in the future)

Ritsuka: "Well, personally i feel like I'm more of a Number cruncher than a Number filler. But hey familiarity with Numbers is always a good thing, right?"

Lev: "..."

Mash: "Uhm....what was that?"

Ritsuka: "An...Attempt to convey my past and my okayness with the situation through a Humorous statement."

Empathy (Trivial: Success): You get the feeling that your attempt at brushing off the comment didn't go down well.

Conceptualization (Medium: Success!): You have been artistically distant ever since you've stopped roleplaying with your group, you get the feeling that if you want to fix that you'll have to find a way to re-stimulate your brain.

Lev: "Well I'm sorry I made you feel like you had to do that, it was insensitive of me. But please don't be discouraged because you are a public applicant, we need all of you for this mission."

He would say quickly moving on from what was no doubt a strange reaction

Lev: "38 Elite mages plus 10 talented Public Applicants..Somehow, we were able to gather all possible candidates. That includes you, and it's something to rejoice over. and now this year, 2017 we were able to gather everyone who could Spiritron Dives, I believe you know it as Rayshifting, all here with minimal problems."

You...can't tell if he's trying to tell you about the others or not. or...maybe this is more of a talking to himself thing? Regardless he ten seems to remember that he is in fact, surrounded by two people.

Lev: "Oh, excuse me. Went on a bit of a tangent there. Anyways, if there is anything you don't understand feel free to ask Mash or myself anytime."

he then pauses as if just noticing something off.

Lev: "Come to think of it, why were you and him Talking? That's not like you. Did the two of you know each other before?"

You take it that means Mash is a bit of an Introvert, or...maybe more than a bit of one.

Mash: "Ah no i've never met Senpai before. But he looked like he was about to fall asleep right there so..."

Lev: "Sleeping? Ritsuka was asleep here?"

He didn't quite get the circumstance of how you met, but it was close enough to what happened. So you nodded in confirmation.

Lev: "Ahh..you went through the Simulation when you entered right? Spiritron Dives can get to you when your not used to them. After the Simulation ended and the gates opened, you must've unconsciously walked out before waking up. Like a type of sleep walking. When you fell Ritsuka, Mash must've seen and approached you."

...Was...Was that really all there was to it, not Jet Lag, not a byproduct of the strange dreams that suck you in at any time, but just a side effect of the simulation?

Ritsuka: "Is that really all there is to it? because, It's a bit of a struggle to uh convince my body to be fully awake."

Lev: "Well it should be fine, but we should probably get you to the infirmary just in case."

As he reaches into his pocket, presumably to give you a map so he can show you towards the Infirmary, but his eye catches something on his watch.

Lev: "Sorry, Hold on a Little longer. The Directors Orientation is about to start. You should probably head over."

Ritsuka: "The Director?"

Lev: "The Director is the well, Director. The person in charge of Chaldea and commands us during our Special missions. Since you've only read the pamphlet I assume this is news to you?"

Mash: "Well the pamphlet doesn't disclose the Director's profile, it hasn't been distrubuted...to well any public resources of Chaldea."

Ritsuka: "Well Yeah uh, I wasn't informed of any director. Up until now i suppose."

Mash: "That makes sense, only Mages from families over 100 years old would show respect to the Animusphere family name."

Lev: "Ah, well whether you know the director or not, it doesn't affect your work as a Master so it's all good. But it's also good to stay on her good side to ensure a peaceful working environment, so let's get you to that orientation. It's for you and the other newly flown in people as well."

Ritsuka: "Alright then let's go."

Lev: "great, then let's hurry as it should start in five minutes."

The three of you began to walk towards the command room where the meeting is taking place when you see Lev slow down his pace to walk somewhat to your side.

Lev: "So while we make our day there, was there anything else you wanted to know? Something that uh, won't be covered by the orientation or the Pamphlet?"

Ritsuka: "Yeah uh....Why does Mash call me Senpai? I don't mind it, but it's strange she'd go for that before we were properly introduced."

Lev lets out a hearty chuckle.

Lev: "oh that? don't worry about it. To her every Human your age is her senpai."

Well looks like your hunch was right on the money.

Lev: "Although it is strange to actually hear her call someone that. This might be the first time. ever. I'm actually intruiged."

he would then speak up.

Lev: "Hey mash, why do you call Ritsuka, Senpai?"

After a bit of Silence, and Mash slowing down her gait to match yours and lev's walk.

Mash: "Well...if I had to say. The reason is that Ritsuka is the most Human-Like person I've ever met."

Ritsuka: "and uh...what does that mean?"

Mash: "I don't feel threatened. Therefore there's no reason to be hostile."

Lev: "I see. Well i can't blame you, the people at Chaldea are all pieces of work! I agree with you mash, I believe you and him will get along just fine."

Ritsuka: "....I uh...Thank you? I think?"

Empathy (Hard: Failure): You can't tell if that was a jab at your co-workers, a jab at you yourself for being so unassuming, or something else. regardless that does not instill you with much confidence when it comes to working here.

Mash: "....If you like senpai, Director will probably hate senpai."

Not much confidence at all.

Mash: "...what if we were to hide in the bathrooms to boycott the Orientation then?"

Composure (Hard: Failure): Your disbelief for the words she just said cannot be hidden. Luckily before you could come up with a whole list of reasons why that would be a bad idea Lev comes in with the save.

Lev: "I'm afraid that'll just make the Director more upset. We're going to have to leave it to fate. Shall we jump into the lions den Ritsuka? And hey once you get used to her you'll find that she can be a pretty sweet person."

Dialogue:
[X] Joke about "how bad can her pride be? It's only one person"

As Lev made the Lion's den comparison earlier, you are certain that this one will go over.

Ritsuka: "Well how bad can the pride be? It's only one person."

This one actually got a smile out of Lev, but Mash...she still doesn't look like she gets it. How Sheltered is She?

Lev: "Trust me, from the way she holds herself it'd be easy to mistake her for a pack of them."

Ritsuka: "Well I guess there's only one way to find out isn't there?"

And with that you and the others head inside. As you enter the Central Command Room, your eyes are first drawn to the globe within the center of the room, surrounded by various rings encasing it.

Inland Empire (Medium: Success): Even as a first generation magus, something, deep, deep in the back of your subconscious can tell, that globe, that globe is Important. when you get free time you should check it out.

The second thing you notice is that there are a bunch of folding chairs being set up , and, at a small set up stage was a girl with grey hair.

Mash: "...Senpai, your looking a bit pale."

You Jolt as you realized the Globe took your attention away from your two companions.

Ritsuka: "It's nothing. I was just uh, distracted by the Globe and I guess I must've started to space out again."

Mash: "It's an after effect of the Simulator. But, I wish i could send you to the infirmary."

The woman with gray hair seems to have noticed the presence of the three of you, and it's clear she does not like what she sees. well that or she hates people who are tardy.

Lev: "No more small talk, it looks like the orientation is just started. Fujimaru as one of the Masters you should have a seat for you in front."

At the front? Well....that certainly shoots a hole in your plans. Still you give him a nod and head towards the front of the crowd to take a seat, the Director speaks up as you do so.

Director: "Well that wasn't on time, but it looks like we're all here now."

As you sit down, a jolt of pure exhaustion blasts through your body. cementing that this was a terrible mistake.

Director: "Welcome to the Special Organization Chaldea. I am it's director, Olga Marie Animusphere. You have been selected or discovered from each nation for your rare-"

Endurance (Heroic: Failure!): You struggle to keep your eyes open as your body seems to be intent on surrendering to sleep. a familiar, feeling but this time there seems to be a different reason for it.

Ritsuka: "....crap. not again."

And after a brief but ultimately pointless struggle you black out.

You wake up in Chaldea's hallway. Mash leaning over you in concern.

Mash: "Senpai? Are you alright?"

Ritsuka: ".....I passed out didn't I?"

Mash: "yeah..but on the bright side it seems like the Directors slap woke you up completely."

Ritsuka: "her slap..."

Absentmindedly you bring your hand to your face, and you wince in shock as you feel a particularly sensitive part. that must've been where the slap hit.

Pain Threshold (Easy: Success): Considering just how sensitive to pain you can be, you imagine that it would hurt like hell had you woken up earlier. Small blessings you suppose.

Mash: "Anyways uh, You've been left out of the first mission Senpai. I'm here to take you to your room then report back to the Central Command Room."

It was at this point you noticed that mash was sort of, half dragging you towards your room, half dragging because it seemed like you were sleep walking in the direction she pulled you in. You decide to just...silently take note of that for later.

Ritsuka: "Yeah...I uh, I suppose I deserve that. Falling asleep during orientation and all."

Mash: "It wasn't your fault Senpai you just had a bad reaction to the-"

Fou: "Fou!"

Reaction Time (Hard: Success): You notice a Blur of white launch itself towards Mash's head.

Ritsuka: "Look out!"

Strangely enough, mash doesn't dodge she just, takes the hit as the creature settles on her shoulder.

Mash: "No, no. This is normal. No problem at all. Fou just likes to throw himself at my face slide around my back and ride on my shoulder."

Ritsuka: "....Huh. Are you the one responsible for Fou?"

You don't want to call this Pet-owner behavior to her face, not while Fou is around, but this is absolutely Pet-owner behavior.

Mash: "Well, i am his first caretaker, I even named him Fou. No real reason, just something about him."

You resist the urge to snark, well at the young innocent Mash, but internally you assume that's because Fou is one of the words Fou can say.

Fou: "Fou. Kuu, Fou Fou!"

Mash: "Huh. Apparently Fou has embraced you as one of his own Senpai. But can a Squirrel who sees Humans as rivals exist in this world?"

Inland Empire (Hard: Failure): Something about that resonated with your imagination..but it is not yet time for that. If you want to get anything more out of that idea you'll have to revisit it later.

Ritsuka: "He sees me as a Rival?"

Mash: "Well knowing Fou as i do I'm sure he'll forget about it the next day."

She stops walking as you face a door.

Mash: "Well here we are. your room. I should get going now."

Reaction Speed (Hard: Success): A question flashes across your mind as she turns to leave.

Ritsuka: "Wait! uh, before you go, which team are you on? Who knows once the Director let's me partake in missions maybe we'll be working together."

Mash: "Team A, the First one. Speaking of which, I've really got to head back now."

Shit....that's...how many layers of separation between you and her? A lot, so, So much for working with her on the job.

Fou: "Fou!"

Huh. it looks like fou's decided to stick with you.

Stepping into your room the first thing you notice is a man in a labcoat .

Ritsuka: "Uh...H-"

You are quickly interrupted by a very defensive and aggravated.

???: "You have some nerve coming into an empty room unauthorized! Don't you know that Until the occupant of the room arrives only certain Chaldea staff are allowed free access into unclaimed rooms! Not to mention I've pretty much unofficially claimed this room as a personal break room so you really shouldn't be here!"

Ritsuka: "Uh....About that. I think I'm the occupant of this room. Ritsuka Fujimaru."

upon hearing that he freezes in his tracks, his head looking behind him and towards the...indoor bathroom and shower where your luggage is before looking back at you apologetically.

???: "Oh. I see, so they finally got you here huh? Well uh, It's nice to meet you Ritsuka. I didn't think we'd be meeting like this."

Ritsuka: "Yeah this is...kinda awkward."

Dr. Roman: "Well let me try to fix that. My name is Doctor Romani Archaman. For some reason though, people just call me Doctor Roman. I'm not sure why but people tend to have an easier time pronouncing that. So feel free to call me Roman if you'd like. Honestly it sounds even better than Romani, it sounds cool and vaguely sweet."

Finesse (Easy: Success): You can certainly relate to wanting to come across as smooth and cool.

Ritsuka: "Well it's nice to meet you Doctor."

Roman: "Nice to meet you as well. I look forward to getting to know you."

On your shoulder Fou seems to be looking over Doctor Roman.

Roman: "Woah! is that the mysterious being only rumored to be in chaldea? Mash told me all sorts of stories about him, but I never thought they'd be true."

Roman would approach you, or more accurately Fou.

Roman: "Hey do you know any tricks? let's try, shake hand. if you do really well I'll give you a treat."

Fou doesn't even bother with a response as he looks away, and you see Romani step back with a disappointed look on his face.

Roman: "He just gave me the most pitying look i've ever seen and ignored me."

Ritsuka: "I gather he tends to do that to a lot of people. Me and Mash excluded. Not sure why though."

Roman: "Right...Well...Anyways i think I know what happened. You're the rookie who just got here and then ended up on the directors bad side right?"

Ritsuka: "Yeah, I uh, fell asleep during orientation."

Romani winces in sympathy.

Romani: "Oh she Hates that. Well i suppose that's why you're here and not with the rayshifting experiment. Everyone's supposed to be there. Well excluding me myself as I'm just here to look after people's health. Which most commonly happens before or after Rayshifting. Not much i could do in the middle other than monitor vitals and the machines are better at keeping track of the many mages rayshifting in their coffins."

Ritsuka: "Sounds rough."

Roman: "Yeah, and to add insult to injury the director said; "when your here Romani, everyone Slacks off!" and through me out. So I came here to sulk."

You don't doubt there was some truth to the directors worlds, Romani seems really chill...yet ironically prone to becoming over defensive.

Romani: "But that's when you showed up, this is what they call a blessing in disguise right? Since we both have nowhere to go, why don't we take this opportunity to deepen our friendship."

Ritsuka: "Sure, I could use some friends here."

Romani: "Really? Well I'm glad to be one of your first! Yes! I made a new friend!"

....He reminds you of an old friend...is friend the right word? Acquaintance back in high school, smart kid, wasn't that good with people, but treasured his friends dearly.

The two of you talk about Chaldea while you unpack your things, it wasn't much, just some spare clothes, which considering the lack of a dresser or a cabinet here are probably staying in the travel bags until you can get one assigned, your laptop, phone and chargers for both, which can go on the desk Romani is using near the door, other than that it's just a couple of pictures taken from home as to not forget where you come from, one of your family, on of your old DnD team..a copy of your high school graduation photo. Stuff you can be proud of.

Romani: "So that's chaldea, it's a workshop built on a snowy mountain 6000 meters above ocean level."

suddenly the comms turned on.

Lev: "Romani, could you come to the command room incase there's an emergency? A team is in perfect condition but B Team on down are inexperienced and are displaying some slight abnormalities. It probably comes from the anxiety of being in a coffin, it's like a cockpit and the name...probably doesn't help either."

Romani: "I could give them some anesthesia, I feel bad for them."

Romani would say, speaking into his comms device.

Lev: "Yeah, it shouldn't take too long. if your in the infirmary then it'll be about...2 minutes."

With that the communications device shut off and you stare at Romani.

Ritsuka: "You probably want to book it, because I don't think this place is near the Infirmary."

Romani: "Yeah...it's about a five minute distance from here to there. Ah well, I don't think they'll mind me being a little late, since A team is still good to go. Oh, and that guy's name is Lev Lainur, He's the Mage who created the Near-Future Observation Lens, Sheba. A Telescope used to observe that psuedo-Planet Chaldeas. Sheba not only observes Chaldeas but also this facility as well, serving as our Security system."

Visual Calculus (Hard: Success): A Near-Future observation lens? implying that using the data it has, and the possibilities programmed into it, making that observation of the near future an impressive thing. For a machine.

Interfacing (Medium: Success): You should ask Lev about that later, pick his brain to see how that works.

Ritsuka: "Wow. Is he also behind the Rayshifting technology?"

Romani: "Ah no, that would be the old Director, he made the summoning and unsummoning system which is the foundation of Rayshift Technology. In order to Actualize that though the Psuedo-Spiritron Calculation Engine, it's basically a supercomputer, was provided by the Atlus Academy. All of these different talents have been brought here to help carry out this mission"

He would then sigh.

Romani: "if you ask me, with all of that by their side it's a bit pointless for an ordinary doctor like myself to be there, but if they call, I must answer."

Ritsuka: "I know how you feel."

Romani: "yeah, I suppose you would, being one of the public applicants and all."

Ritsuka: "Yeah. it's all so...intimidating really."

Romani: "Don't worry Ritsuka, you'll adjust. I know I did. Anyways, thanks for talking to me Ritsuka. Drop by the infirmary later and i'll share some cake I have, You'll love it."

As he get's up to leave, everything goes dark.

Ritsuka: "...A Blackout? on day one? That's not a good sign."

Romani: "D-Don't be ridiculous. There's no way This is a Blackout."

Half light (Trivial: Success): You can hear the the fear in his voice as the possibility crossed his mind.

Romani: "su-Surely this is just a prank on those few of us who aren't-"

He would be cut off by the sound of distant explosions and the ground shaking, afterwards Emergency red lights would start flashing as a warning siren blares over the PA system.

PA System: Emergency. Emergency. A fire has broken out in both the central command room and central Power station Central Area's containment wall will go down in 90 seconds, All staff must evacuate from gate 2 at once."

Romani: "What happened in the central rooms?! Monitor, show us the Central Command Room! is everyone All Right?"

a Monitor would appear in your room, it's light breifly overpowering before your eyes adjust and what you saw was...terrible, the room itself is up in flaming ruins, and the Globe, Chaldeas...

Inland Empire (medium: Success): A very bad sign.

Romani: ".....Ritsuka. You need to go right now, I'll head over to the command room. The Containment Wall has very little time before it comes down, You need to evacuate before it does!"

Fou gives you a look. and understanding passes through the both of you.

Inland Empire (Easy: Success): he won't leave Mash behind, and neither will you.

Ritsuka: "I'm not going to run away now."

next thing you know, your rushing behind Romani Archaman. Hearing your footsetps he looks behind him and well doesn't like what he sees.

Romani: "What do you think your doing?! Gate 2 is back that way!"

Ritsuka: "I'm coming along to help whether you like it or not!"

Fou: "Fou!"

Romani: "You can't be- fine! there's no time to argue, just promise me you'll get out of there before the Wall goes down!"

As you approach your destination he tells you he's going for the power room and tosses you a fire extinguisher for the central command room. And the two of you head inside.

Romani: "...No survivors, the only thing left standing here is Chaldeas. There was no way something like this could've happened here on accident. No this had to be sabotage."

PA: "Generator operation stopped. Power level Critical. Backup Generator Switch....Error. Manual Switch needed. Containment Wall will close in 50 Seconds. Those in the Central Area Evacuate Immediately."

Romani levels a stern gaze at you.

Romani: "I'm going to to switch on the Backup Generator, i won't let Chaldea be in the dark, I want you to spend as little time up here as possible. Get out of here as soon as you can. and wait for help."

As soon as he said that Romani rushed off leaving you and Fou alone. The PA systems, no a different one turns on.

Rayshift PA: "System switching to final phase of Rayshift. Coordinates AD 2004 Fuyuki Japan. Laplace shifting protection established, Singularities Additional Factor Secured. Unsummon system set. Please start final adjustments."

Ritsuka: "Well I don't know about you, but I'm sure there has to be someone alive here."

Fou sniffs the air for a bit before jumping off of your shoulder.

Fou: "Kyu, Kou! Fou!"

Inland Empire (Medium: Success): You get the feeling he wants you to follow him. So you do.

As you do, the more of the destroyed room you see and experience...the more it sinks in that whoever did this wasn't just screwing around, this was supposed to be a killing blow to Chaldea. Romani was right about the severity of it. and with that realization came...well Emergency Mode.

Half Light: Fujimaru, what the hell are you getting us into?

Ritsuka: I'm helping.

Half Light: Helping who? You're surrounded by corpses and flames! the Doctor had the right of it, you should've left.

Volition: We can handle this. I know we can.

Half Light: Why do you never listen?

You end up reaching Mash and...She's not looking too good. Half of her is crushed by a Pillar and she would be...

Encyclopedia: She's going to die of blood loss if nothing is done, and will never be able to walk again if something is. We don't need to be medical professionals to assume that.

Volition: Well there has to be something we can do!

Ritsuka: "Mash!"

Mash: "Oh...Senpai."

Ritsuka: "Don't Worry, I'll...I'll.."

Your mind races, trying to think of something that could help but..

Conceptualization (Heroic: Success): I'm sorry, but there's nothing we can do. At least on our own.

Mash: "You...You can't help. Don't mind me please. Run."

Do You Listen?:
[[ Hell No, Move that Pillar off of her. She doesn't deserve to die like that. (Physical Instrument, Heroic: DC 15)
[] Hell No, Comb the area, according to what you saw of it before, there has to be someone in a coffin well enough to help. (Visual Calculus, Heroic: DC 15)
[] Hell No, But...if there's nothing you can do to help then at least you should make sure she doesn't die alone (Empathy, Easy DC 6)
[] Hell No, at the very least you should be able to shift the pillar so she can crawl out. (Interfacing, Heroic: DC 16)

Dice Mechanics
Okay so...I updated the post, updated and put the Dialogue mechanics, into a spoiler as to not clutter up the dialogue choices line breaks.

And before i roll the Dice I figure I should go about the mechanics so everyone is on the Same Page.

The Basics: So this goes with Basic Disco Elysium Dice Rolls, roll to hit the DC, if you hit it? Great! if you don't you'll fail the task, sometimes in painful ways (Durability Damage), sometimes in embarrassing ways (Morale damage), but if you fail generally speaking you don't get a second chance at the roll. There IS a way to re-roll but Ritsuka doesn't have that yet.

Doubles: Double Sixes are always successes, and Double Ones are always failure. However that only applies to Active checks. Passive Checks are exempt from the doubles rule.

Modifiers: Modifiers come in two ways, Invisible (You won't see what causes these until the Roll) and visible (Actions you have taken before hand that you know will add to the role) Modifiers can help or hinder rolls depending on past actions and current circumstances.

Failing Upwards: The first New mechanic I'll be introducing to this quest, did you fail a roll you had no business failing? Most likely from Nat 1's? Well don't worry, Failing upwards still provides a path towards a solution near, or close enough the one. The catch? well You'll suffer a setback, either immediately (AKA taking damage) or something more long term (AKA granting your enemy an edge over you.) To Decide if you fail upward, we add up the Base Stat, the level of the Skill, and then the rolled result. If They all add up to make the DC, you fail upwards. If you don't you just fail.

Failure: Sometimes you just out, and out fail, but don't worry. failed rolls may not get you closer to success, but they do provide experience, Experience may not be shown until after the prologue is complete and we start Singularity F (effectively the Singularity prologue/Tutorial) but for the most part experience functions just like it does in Disco, get 100 of it, and you gain a point. Experience gain is determined by adding up the two die then divide the number by two. Snake eyes don't get divided by two.

So what do you all think, is too forgiving? Should I change the failing upward mechanic to work only with Double 1's? if there are any changes you would make to this (without scrapping a mechanic), I'd like to hear it, and if you make a good enough point I'll change the mechanics. I'll let this sit here a bit to gather responses before rolling (either on this post or the next.)

Alright, there seems to be no problems with the rules. Time to Roll:

DC to Hit: 15

Minimum Roll to Fail Forward: 4

6 + 6 + 3 = 15 (SUCCESS!)
MedievalParadox threw 2 6-faced dice. Total: 9
