Well, that went as well as could be expected.

[] Accomplish Caren's orders of gathering information regarding the pyramid. Its layout, defenses and combat strength are core intel Assassin needed to gather.

Assassin felt that figuring out the layout of the pyramid would be worth her time. It was why she was here after all. She wouldn't focus solely on finding Miyu but if she did find the girl, she would weigh the options of getting her out of here. Rider was still in the air trying to force the Phantasmal Beasts to chase him. Jumping off the electrical tower, she made her way towards the Pyramid.

Dashing through the dense woodlands, she ascended up the mountain and moved past numerous trees. Assassin thought back to Hans and wondered if he would be all right without her by his side. He was a good man but if left on his own, there's no telling what he would do. He was capable but sometimes he just made her worry for him.

She ran and closed in on her target. The Pyramid was huge, easily settling itself upon the mountainside on the outskirts of the city. The Pyramid was noted to have some complicated curses which hid its presence from the naked eye. However to Servants and any competent Magus, it was easy to see, almost as if declaring boldly that it didn't fear any outward attacks from foes and in fact welcomed them.

Assassin had already seen her fair share of impenetrable fortresses. She smiled as she got close and sent out her black snakes, using her curse to smash through the outer barrier and slipping in. Dashing through more woodland, she vaulted over logs and hopped over tree branches before she looked up to see Sphinxes come down to investigate the disturbance her entrance had made.

Landing behind a bush, she pressed her body to the ground as the monsters descended nearby. She kept low and darted through the opening she had seen.

Soon enough, she found herself at the foot of the Pyramid, pillars of gold rising up from the ground as Sphinxes guarded the entrance. Assassin muted her presence as she blended with the shadows.

"The architecture may seem simplistic from the outside perspective but it's quite robust up close. Not even a mouse could scurry out without lifting an alarm. The Sphinxes also have heightened senses, making them the perfect sentries for this place," Assassin breathed as she narrowed her gaze, "Engaging would blow my cover. I need another way inside."

Looking up, she could see numerous monsters circle near the top of the Pyramid. She could hazard a guess that those could be considered this Blackened's foot soldiers. While Servants could take them down easily enough, normal humans wouldn't stand a chance.

Assassin took out the Mystic Code she was given and inspected it. It was a Lapiz Lazuli taken from Luvia's collection, it emitted a faint blue glow in her hand before she spoke into it, "Can you hear me, Rider? I need your assistance. There's two sentries that refuse to budge at the entrance, can you divert their attention?"

"I can hear you, Miss Shinobi. It will take a moment. Try not to get blown away," Rider chuckled as he directed his Pegasus to glide downwards. The Pyramid reacted to his approach and suddenly lit up, sending many more of the monsters reserved drifting above it.

However Rider was faster as he saw exactly where he should be going, causing the sentries at the entrance to spread their wings in response. Assassin kept low as Rider passed by and forced the sentries to follow him. Assassin watched them take flight and in the cloud of dust and sand, she shot forward and entered the pyramid.

"I won't be able to do it again. You're on your own for the time being. I will be retreating for now. Tell me when they've calmed down," Rider responded as he shot up straight to the Heavens. Assassin moved on and entered what seemed to be a great hall.

It resembled more of the reception hall of a palace than the final resting place of Pharaohs. Towering statues lined the entrance and there were passages leading upwards. From what Chiyome had studied regarding the architecture of known Pyramids, most of the space was located underneath the whole structure, with the upper portion being nothing but stone spectacles. The chamber of the Pharaohs were located deep within such grand buildings but here it was completely different.

It was a blend of two designs entirely which made it all suspicious.

"Must be Magecraft," Chiyome murmured as she looked around.

The interior was pulsing with magical energy and it was all coming from underground. Assassin decided to go ahead and make her descent downn to a passage leading beneath the Pyramid. She took some long winding path downwards and noted how the walls were inscribed with numerous Egyptian hieroglyphics.

She also found that there several traps which led to pitfalls, poisoned arrows coming out the walls and once a ball of stone set to emerge and crush her. She disabled a lot of them to make it safer for her to retreat. Pyramids were notorious for traps after all given that the threat of grave robbers were such a huge problem.

Assassin followed the glowing murals and came upon a chamber leading to three passages. Through the middle passage, she could see a dim glow coming from up ahead. Looking down a grand staircase, Assassin's eyes widened.

The room was filled with churning black mud, swirling and crashing against the edge of stone platforms. At the center of the chamber was a golden tree root pulsing with power, wrapped around by a tainted black and red light coming from the mud. A pedestal stood before the root which held what looked like a necklace.

Despite the churning mud of corruption which spread through the chamber, only the necklace remained untouched.

Assassin hopped over the edge of the stairs and jumped down. She then leaped over the mud, taking care not to fall in and stop before the necklace.

"Now that's strange..." Assassin murmured as she stared at the necklace.

She reached out to touch it-

"My Pharaoh. My King..."
Assassin jerked her hand back and clenched her fist. This was... Something important.

[] Take the necklace. Assassin can bring it back to Hans to inspect.
[] Leave the necklace. Assassin can sabotage the connection with the Leyline instead.
[] Exit the chamber and go somewhere else. Assassin didn't want to alert the Pyramid of her presence yet.

[X] Leave the necklace. Assassin can sabotage the connection with the Leyline instead.

Sounds important enough for the Blackened Servant to know immediately when it's taken IMO. I rather not risk it personally.

Ooooh. Nefertari and Moses storyline get!

[X] Leave the necklace. Assassin can sabotage the connection with the Leyline instead.

Never steal conspicuously positioned stuff from a pyramid.

Do not fuck with suspicious jewelery

We don't really need info from ozy to know stealing from pyramids is bad and won't help with the sphinx problem.

This is schmuck bait.

Assassin hesitated from taking the necklace. She pulled back and tried to shake off the jitters she had in her body. It must be a trick of the mud, their presence must be messing with her mind. She held her hand up to her head and let out a breath. Staying focused here was gonna take a bit of work, wasn't it?

Drawing her sword, she fixed her gaze upon the golden root behind the necklace. She just had to ruin that thing, right? If it meant lowering the output of that damned Blackened then she'd gladly take the dive. Right now, she was the only one who can do anything!

Kicking off the ground, she dashed past the necklace and swung her katana straight into the root. Plunging the blade in, she felt it sink deep to strike the core of the root. The surge of magical energy flourished into her body, causing Assassin to yelp in surprise.

But she couldn't stop there.

The power she had coursing through was then used against the root. She cut through the root in one swing, tearing out a huge chunk of it alongside the corrupted tendrils that clung to it. Behind Assassin, the black mud churned before the Leyline blasted open.

"Now! Saburou!" Chiyome yelled as she called forth a black Serpent to lunge and sank its fangs into the Leyline, causing the room to burst with power.

The Serpent's poison severed the connection between the Pyramid and the Leyline, rendering it unusable. The golden root vanished as Chiyome was blown backwards first into the pedestal containing the necklace. The black mud churned in the chamber before it sought to chase the golden root which receded deep underground.

The room was emptied of the corruption, leaving it bare as she fell down her knees.

"That was a lot of noise," she breathed as she looked to see that the Pyramid had lost a bit of its glow. Still, it seemed to have worked out somehow, the entire place wasn't as vibrant as before.

She stood up as the sound of churning echoed behind her. Assassin rolled away from the pedestal and looked up to see black mud put itself together in the form of a man. Her eyes met with golden ones as a bare chested man with chiseled features stood at the entrance of the chamber holding his staff. His expression was cold and calculating, surveying the area before settling his gaze upon Assassin.

The Blackened was quick to swing his staff and shoot out rays of light, forcing Assassin to flip back and evade. Sliding back, she looked up to see the man already upon her. She swung her sword and the clashed, her legs buckling beneath his strength. Cold rage filled his gaze before his leg shot up and nearly hit her.

Assassin stepped forward to thrust but her blade was deflected to the side. Golden light filled the man's palm and blasted through the air, forcing her to duck low and jump away as light fell from the ceiling. The ground was filled with golden circles and she was forced to dash through them and evade while pulling back.

The air was filled with dust and debris so she took the gamble and threw an explosive kunai at her foe.

It was quickly broken apart by a beam of light as the Blackened crossed his arms and stomped his foot. Light swirled around Chiyome as she managed to dodge it by flipping forward. She locked eyes with her foe as she had her hand hover over her pouch where her Mystic Codes should be... But she hesitated.

She could feel her body growing heavy as the walls of the chamber darkened. Poison, huh? It was strong enough to even affect a conditioned body of a Shinobi. Her breath was shaky but she held on tight to her sword as she saw the Blackened standing before the pedestal where the necklace was contained. Maybe it was an important object after all...

Who knows... Regardless, this would be a good time to see what this thing was made of for herself.

Assassin held up her sword and was cautious enough to make not of the exit. She took stock on how long she can last under the Pyramid's poisoned curse and noted that she had around thirty minutes. Would that be enough to gather information about the Blackened and get out? Either way, she'll just have to break through the bastard.

The Blackened lowered his staff before an arrogant smirk filled his lips. He then raised his arms as if daring her to come and get him.

Assassin moved and light filled the chamber as the Blackened fired upon her with his golden boat's cannon. She was able to dodge to the side and dash straight under the next volley. The Blackened narrowed his gaze as more cannons appeared behind him and fired upon the Servant, forcing Assassin to focus as her body grew hot.

Dashing and weaving through the rain of shells and sunlight, Assassin got close enough before a beam of sunlight hammered down on her body. The Blackened's eyes widened as the body turned into that of a large serpent. He then looked up to see Assassin descend from the air and slash down, forcing him to turn and deflect her blow.

Assassin's body grew lighter as her teeth sharpened, both of her eyes now resembling that of a snake.

She swung her sword as the Blackened leaned back, only to have a cut appear upon his face. A burst of light expanded outwards and pushed Chiyome back, sending her sliding back.

Her body grew hot. She could feel it. The curse within her blood was slithering, wrapping itself around her soul as she fixed her gaze upon her foe. She can push her back.

Her vision blurred and in the Blackened's place stood Saber.

"I can beat him," Assassin breathed as she tightened her grip on her sword, "Do you think so too, Lord Orochi?"

It was like having the fangs of several dozen serpents bite into her flesh. The tattoos she bore glowed red before turning black. The curse was crawling all over her body as she faced the Blackened. She moved, dashing forward as sunlight shot through the air, forcing her to move side to side as she threw her kunai.

A wall of light appeared and blocked the explosions from her weapons.

The Blackened glanced to his left as a Serpent hissed and lunged at him, causing him to catch its head and crush it. Behind him, pellets were tossed on to his eye level before they burst. They robbed the Blackened of his sight before Assassin managed to break through his wall of light with a flaming sword swinging in an arc.

The Blackened then swung his staff and he clashed against Assassin's blade.

CLANG

Assassin was sent sliding back as the Blackened put himself between her and the necklace behind him.

[] Use the Curse. Assassin will feed her flesh to her curse and push back the Blackened. She had to test how much she could damage her foe and see his capabilities.
[] Use Tactics. Assassin will reduce her reliance on Orochi's Curse and target the necklace. The Blackened seemed fixed on protecting it.
[] Use an Escape Route. Assassin will break through the Blackened and escape out of the Pyramid. She's done enough and she should focus on running now.
