You didn't forget
[] Lie through your teeth.

"A miracle," you replied as you met her gaze, "To witness a miracle, that's why I've been hiding them."

Miyu stared at you from the side.

"There's someone I want to meet but i could only do so using the power of the Grails. So I wish to study them as any Magus would," you said as you met the Edelfelt's gaze, "You know what I'm talking about, Miss heiress."

"I never took you to be that sort of man," Luvia said with a narrowed look.

"The Grails are important to my research. I have no wish to ask it save for extracting it's functions for my purposes. And especially since using the Grail as it is will kill Miyu, I won't be doing that of course," you said with an equally steely look.

You didn't need to research the Grails. You already have an end purpose to them. That was to create a Holy Grail War that would truly grant you the blueprints of your sister's soul.

It was another War to be fought, certainly something the Edelfelt and Matou would want to stop.

"Interesting. Even when you could just skip your research altogether with the Child of God's power? Their Wishcraft capabilities rival that of the Fuyuki Grail," Luvia challenged you.

"Like I said, I won't harm Miyu. I simply want her capabilities. That's what I want, not her life," you argued with a shake of your head.

Luvia judged you before closing her eyes, "I see. You would fight Seven Wars for your Wish?"

"I would seven more if that's what it'll take. I have nothing malicious planned for the Grail so can we end this farce?" You scoffed as you squeezed the arm of your chair.

Luvia smirked and leaned forward, "Eager, aren't we? But then I would take this as you willing to join hands with us?"

"Your purpose is to make sure the grail doesn't fall to the wrong hands. I agree with that sentiment and I'll help you win... So long as I get to take it in the end. You monitors have no wishes after all," you figured as you leaned back on your seat.

"That would depend on the Grail's decision... Isn't it, Miss Sakatsuki?" Luvia said as she crossed her arms.

"You shouldn't count your eggs before they hatch, Hans," Miyu warned you as she met your gaze.

You smiled at her and nodded, "Apologies."

"In any case, we cannot leave her unattended for tonight. Do we have your aid for tonight's defense?" Luvia asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Assassin will help you. But I can't come in account of my injuries," you said as you looked down your arm, "You'll have to keep her safe. Because if you don't..."

"Sakura won't let you down. You've fought well these past two weeks, Mr. Derrinsmith. Leave this battle to us," Luvia assured you with a nod.

"Right," you said as you got up, "Guess I should return to my room then."

"Um!" A voice cut between through the room.

You turned your gaze upon the girl beside Miyu. The older girl winced and clung to the younger one in fear as she met your gaze.

"I-I'm... I'm sorry," Kirishima Ayumi said as she lowered her head. She looked up and withered almost immediately underneath your gaze.

You held the spot where Beowulf hit you with a spear because of her. It ached slightly...

You Didn't Forget

[] You gave her the most pleasantly bone chilling smile you could muster and said, "It's fine."
[] "Apology not accepted, girl."
[] You're not equipped for this. Just ignore her and head back to your room.
[] "Good to have you back. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better," you said with a nod. You should just take it as water under the bridge.

[] "Good to have you back. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better," you said with a nod. You should just take it as water under the bridge.

Your wound ached, that much you knew. But while you had some words meant for her, this wasn't exactly the right time. You needed rest too.

You met her gaze and spoke to her.

"Good to have you back. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better," you said with a nod. You'll let this slide... Everyone had bigger issues to resolve.

The girl retained the fearful look she had on her face

You turned away and made your way to your room. You held your side before Assassin moved in to support you.

"I'm here to help. Don't tough it out," she said in a quiet voice.

"I just can't hide anything from you, huh?" You chuckled as the two of you went in and shut the door. Chiyome helped you to your bed where you sat down.

She turned to you and asked, "Was it all right to leave it at that?"

"What would you have done, hm?" You returned the question with a raised eyebrow.

Chiyome crossed her arms and said, "She's a child... But were I some savage, that wouldn't excuse her from my vengeance."

"Well, it's a good thing you're that weak willed of a woman, huh?" You said with a low chuckle.

Assassin stared at you before frowning, "You need to stop that."

"Stop what?" You asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Unknowingly flirting, making nice comments, making hearts flutter," Chiyome said as she shook her head.

You choked and blinked, "Unknowingly fli- I'm not some gigolo! And-, Wait, is your heart fluttering?"

Chiyome kept silent and crossed her arms, her face flushed red as she didn't meet your gaze, "A little."

Ah... That was a problem.

.....
....
...

You stayed in your bed as you waited. You were reading a book you were given by Miyu to pass the time before she left. The defense was going to take a few hours and you were stuck recovering. Things just had to end up this way, huh?

You closed the book as you looked at the time.

It was starting. You felt your Command Seals burn as you lurched forward and felt pain go through your body. You endured and saw where Miyu was. You had a view of the city bathed in light before zooming straight down.

You were greeted by the sight of the docks and within one of the warehouses, Miyu was standing beside Chiyome.

The vision ended as you were left sweating and grabbing a towel on your bedside and wiping your brow. The docks... Chiyome should be able to handle it.

You believed in her.

Your arm was numb from your Command Seals reacting to Miyu's broadcast. You laid down on your bed and stared at the ceiling. Your wounds ached and your bruises stung, you turned to your side and closed your eyes.

You slowly sunk into a deep slumber, your aching body pulling you downwards. Worry filled your mind but this wasn't the first time you were in this situation...

That's right... Sending a Servant to fight all by themselves while you were too injured to do anything.

It happened before with another Servant. You slept..

[] An arrogant Captain and his band of Heroes took on the might of a roaring Army. He was a smug bastard but he was your best friend in the end.

You dreamed of the past.

You fell down your knees at the brink of defeat as you held your shoulder. You looked ahead to see a familiar professor adjust his glasses with his hand in his pocket. His long hair swayed with the hot wind while he glanced at his clock.

"It's about time, Mr. Derrinsmith," the Professor noted as he looked at you with his perpetual frown, "You did well considering your pawns. Manipulating Berserker and Archer to fight this battle for you was commendable but that doesn't get you full points."

"You wound my pride, London Big Star," you chuckled as you tried to stop the bleeding of your shoulder.

How many times do I tell you not to call me that," The man said with a growl.

"BWAHAHAHA! You underestimate the whelp, Waver boy! I'd say give him a few years and he might just surpass you! This boy has promise, just look at his eyes," Rider said as he clapped the Professor's back, "You're not giving him credit... To push me into unleashing my Reality Marble is no small feat!"

"I'm honoured, Lord Iskander," you said as you endured the pain of your broken leg and grabbed the spear lodged into your thigh, "It's high praise."

"Such spirit. You are worthy of being trampled by my grand Army!" Rider said with a respectful look in his eyes.

"This War, Hans, it's not something you can do forever. I've seen your grit and your courage but there's only so much you could do. With a problematic Servant as your Saber, no wonder he abandoned you," the Professor said.

"I have to try. No matter the odds, I have to try. Because if... There's one thing that I know..." You grit your teeth and pulled the bloody spear from your leg and stabbed it into the ground, "Is that I have a wish I'm willing to bet my life on. You want the Grail? You'll have to go through me first, Lord El-Melloi II."

"Not bad an ambition for someone like you," a voice said behind you as you turned.

A man walked by. He was a man that wasn't as glorious as Rider. He was average and carried with him an air of arrogance and false bravado. He held his blade in hand and you noticed that it was shaking.

He was a cowardly man, one of great frustration to you as you fought through this war. He was demanding, prideful and most of all just an asshole. But that was only on the surface, a facade he carried himself with. He was afraid and among all the Heroic Spirits you fought alongside with, he was the most human of them all.

A terrible Hero for sure... But regardless, still a Hero.

"Look at you, forcing someone like me to draw his sword," Saber said as he glanced at you.

You gave him a bloody smile and said, "I knew you'd come... Buddy."

"Your faith is stupid, thinking that I can do anything about that muscle head's army by myself," Saber growled as he faced you.

"But you're not exactly alone, aren't you?" You said as you fell forward. Saber moved and caught you with his arm. Your leg finally gave out, huh?

"Medea, I'll leave him to you," Saber said as he stepped forward.

A pair of gentle hands grabbed on to your shoulders as you noticed a beautiful girl with lavender colored hair smile at you. You raised your head to see that Heroes began to manifest behind Saber while you watched their numbers grow.

Saber looked at Rider in the eye as their armies matched. For Saber, behind him were the Heroes he met and followed his charisma through the seas while Rider, behind him were his mighty Army clutching on to his Dream
.

"Jason!" You barked as you were being healed.

Saber held up his hand and gave you a thumbs up, "I'll show you the power of the Argo. COME! FOLLOW MY VOICE!"

Heroes of Legend matching the King of Conqueror's Army appeared. A Huntress stepped forth with her bow in hand while a hooded Mage appeared nearby too. A man donning black armor stepped forth and cracked his fists while a towering giant appeared dragging his stone sword behind him.

"ARGONAUTS! ASSEMBLE!" Saber roared as he held his sword up, "The dazzling ship that Splits the Heavens(Astrapte Argo)."

"A worthy Army! We will answer in turn!" Rider laughed as he raised his own sword, "Charge these Shining Souls! Grant them the highest Honour! Charge and fight till he end! Army of the King!(Ionioi Hetaroi)".

The two sides charged, Rider leading his Army with his gargantuan steed while Saber rode on the back of the Giant. You got up and held Medea's shoulder
.

"He's an idiot. Help him," you told her with a nod.

Medea bowed towards you and took the skies, magic circles lighting up around her as she rained hell upon he approaching armies. Noble Phantasms were let loose as the Argonauts clashed with their foes.

Rider smashed aside several Heroes with his horse right until his steed was stopped by the Giant Jason rode.

"Such strength!" Rider laughed.

"Don't you know?! Heracles is the strongest in the world! He won't lose to a fucking horse!" Saber roared as he clashed with the enemy Servant.

What a miracle. A coward like him... Crossing blades with Alexander the Great.

"What a Hero," you said as you held up your hand, "I hope you can tough this out, Buddy! By my Command Seal, Saber, break Rider's weapon!"

Saber roared and did just that, shattering the King's blade.

"Let's go, Heracles!" Jason yelled as he and Heracles fought the King of Conquerors together.

The Reality Marble's sun burned hot above you as Jason pulled his sword out of Iskander. The great King seemed satisfied before closing his eyes and fading away.

Lord El-Melloi II watched the battle and closed his eyes in understanding. You passed by your professor to see your Servant standing there as his companions vanished one by one.

"Thanks," he said.

"For what?" You asked.

"For trusting me," Jason chuckled as he gave you a smirk, "You reminder me of myself. It's because of that trust that I got my crew back. If you're gonna keep fighting, Hans, don't lose faith on your Servants. Same as you did with me."

You opened your eyes and looked at your Command Seals. You clenched your fist and slowly got up. You blinked and saw the window open. Assassin stepped in and turned to meet your gaze.

A soft smile filled her lips as she asked, "Did I worry you, Hans?"

[] "Nope. I knew you'd be back. Welcome back, Chiyome."

You gave her a smile and replied, "Nope. I knew you'd be back. Welcome back, Chiyome."

"You had that much faith in me, hm?" Chiyome said as she crossed her arms where she stood.

"Well, for one, I would be a bad Master," you frankly said with a shrug, "Besides, you're not made of glass."

"That is true. Shinobi are hardened by the training they undergo to complete missions and come back with favourable news," Chiyome said as she walked towards you before sitting beside you on your bedside, "But there are times when we would like to indulge ourselves too."

"I... I see..." You replied as you scratched your cheek with an awkward laugh.

"You're not really perceptive, aren't you?" Assassin said as she met your gaze.

You winced and looked to the side, "Sorry. Though, did the others make it out okay?"

"Indeed. Miyu is safe outside your door. We told her that you needed your rest and that she can talk to you in the morning. It went okay, there were no casualties on our side," Chiyome said as she looked out the window.

"And who came in to take her?" You asked. Thinking back, you and Minerva tried to kill one another as best you could. She wouldn't be making big moves at the moment but Archer was still a wild card...

If anything, Ophelia would want to hunt you down after you escaped.

"No one. Not one of the Masters or Servants fought us... At least not the one we expected," Assassin explained as she looked down on the ground.

"And that is?" You frowned.

"A Blackened Servant. One of Manaka's," Chiyome replied as she met your gaze.

You blinked before you recalled that Berserker had perished... Which meant that there was energy to be siphoned to call that Blackened. But Manaka wasn't here and Ayumi should be in her room. You didn't detect the presence of magecraft or movement from the mirrors.

Manaka wasn't going to let you dawdle, wasn't she? When a Servant dies, a Blackened will take its place. So even if you beat all the Servants present in the war, so long that the Blackened remained you're going to end up fighting for longer.

Beowulf took down two of them already. It would be bad news if this one went on a rampage.

"What was it like? Can you discern the Servant type?" You asked with a curious look.

"Another Assassin. She had presence concealment at the time and nearly killed Lady Matou. The Servant was strong enough to hold both me and Lancer back..." Chiyome continued as she shook her head, "Though the problem is only exacerbated by Lancer's grudge against me."

"I'm surprised she didn't jump you," you said as you gave her a strange look.

"She tried but Miyu was there. She would not want to look bad before the girl. In any case, the Assassin seemed to be adept with poison. She's more aggressive than our current style of play," Chiyome said as she looked at her hands, "Because of her poison, we weren't able to fight her properly. You need to be careful from now on."

"As long as you and Miyu are fine, that's enough for me," you said as you smiled her way.

"I'm serious, Hans. This is an unprecedented Enemy to be added to the ones we already have. You should be careful," Assassin said as she crossed her arms.

You chuckled lightly and said, "Well now, do I worry you that much?"

"Yes," Chiyome replied as she clenched her fists.

"Okay then. I understand," you said as you raised your hand, "No need for that."

"You're sometimes difficult to read. But I realize that you're simple minded most of the time," Assassin said as she shook her head.

She then leaned to the right and rested on your shoulder.

"Um, are you okay?" You asked her with a confused tone.

"Yes. I'm merely indulging myself," Chiyome said as she leaned against you. She opened her eyes and glanced up at you, "A good General takes care of the morale of their soldiers."

"I-I see," you choked as you looked to the side.

"Mhmm, because when they don't... A revolt in the ranks could occur," Assassin said before she vanished from your side.

You blinked and found her standing before you. She pressed a finger on your forehead and smiled.

"Good night, My Lord," Assassin said as she turned away and jumped out the window.

You were left to rub your forehead as you watched her go. She's becoming more cheeky with you. You couldn't help but smile. It's an improvement from the day you met her.

...

Morning came and you woke up at what seemed to be at the crack of dawn. Your body just woke you for some reason and you couldn't go back to sleep. You rose out of your bed and felt for your wounds. They weren't as bad as before, you could even numb the pain with a rune now.

You went to the bathroom to freshen yourself up. You then grabbed your coat and wore it as you stepped into your shoes. Stepping out of your room, you were greeted by the quiet suite devoid of light and activity.

You could distinctly sense people nearby in the other rooms. Luvia seemed to be awake already while Miyu was asleep with Ayumi in a separate room. You decided to walk through the suite and exit to the hall outside.

Looking down the hall, you find that it was empty before going down it. You needed some air... You decided to take the elevator and ascend to the top floor.

You stepped out to a quaint rooftop with a few benches and a vending machine. Walking by the vending machine, you noted that you didn't have any money for it so you just went to the rails and looked down the city. The wind was cool as the snow covered cityscape greeted your eyes.

The sun was just rising on the east now.

Time wasn't going to wait for you. You need to take out Archer if you were ever going to get a Seal from Caren. That would put you one Seal above everyone else again. Looking down your hand, you grimaced before you clenched your fist.

The elevator doors opened and you turned to see a purple haired woman in a lavender blouse and long skirt.

"Well, I didn't expect someone to be up here," you said as you faced her.

Sakura Matou blinked before instinctively holding her neck.

You raised your hand and stepped back, "Don't worry, I'm not gonna try anything. Lancer will chop my head off before I do."

"Forgive me, just a bad habit," Sakura said as she lowered her hands.

"No harm done. I should be the one apologizing... But you did attack first," you said before holding out your hand to stop her, "Now, now... It's water under the bridge. At least for now."

"Thank you... For cooperating with us," she said with a polite bow.

You shook your head, "Oh please, none of that. If I didn't cooperate I would be dead."

"But we wouldn't come out unscathed," Sakura pointed out as she gave you a sharp look.

You blinked before smiling coldly at her, "You're right. You definitely wouldn't have."

The woman gathered her courage and walked towards you. She eventually stopped to look down the city beside you, leading you to glance down as well.

Silence filled the air between you two before Sakura broke it.

"I have many questions to ask you, Hans Derrinsmith," Sakura said as she spoke in a measured tone.

"Well, this is surprising to say the least," you replied with a raised eyebrow.

"Last year, there was also a Holy Grail War waged in Canada, wasn't there?" Sakura asked as she turned to you, "You were a part of it."

You blinked. No one should know that.

From what you gathered, Brie made a wish that caused the entire world to forget the events of that war. You felt the phantom pain of your missing arm just at the thought of it.

"Oh? Who knows. Was I truly?" You asked as you met her gaze.

"Does the name Shirou Emiya mean anything to you?" Sakura said as she frowned.

Now that caught you off guard. You vaguely remembered getting beaten up and down the subway by that man. A man with red hair and an annoying reputation to booth.

You didn't talk but Sakura noticed recognition in your eyes. She stepped towards you and held on to the rail, "Please, you have to tell me anything you know. I... Do you know where he is?"

The man was missing? That man?

You didn't know much but...

"It's true that there was a war and that man was there. But we only fought as enemies. I don't know much beyond his bad reputation of getting involved with people," you replied as you shook your head, "Did something happen?"

"Senpai... Emiya-san, returned last year from a trip no one remembers him going. Well, except one of our friends that was with him, but he vanished one day three months after his daughter was born. I'm trying to look for him now... And all I have was his journal. A war that never happened... Your name was there too among other participants," Sakura said with a pained look.

"So that's how you knew who I was. I see. Sorry, I don't have anything on him. Do you have any other leads?" You asked her with a frown.

"Well... He mentioned that he was called to meet someone. A girl in black and white," Sakura explained to you, "Aside from that... Nothing."

"If you're looking for the man, why are you in this War?" You questioned her with a sharp tone.

"If... If we can convince Lady Miyu, then maybe she can help us find him," Sakura said as she met your gaze.

[] "A noble cause. One that you're willing to fight for, I expect?"

You regarded the woman here before you. Luvia said that they didn't have a wish during the negotiations but Matou seemed to have her own plans. It seemed things weren't all well in the Lancer camp if this goes on. But for that man to cause this much distress, you felt that it would be better for him to stay missing.

You didn't have a fond experience with him after all.

Still...

"A noble cause," you said with a cold smile, "One that you're willing to fight for, I expect?"

Sakura didn't look away and nodded, "Yes."

"Well then... Considering our alliance, you'll have to wait. Because I'm not giving up on my wish," you said as you turned away from her, "When the time comes, let's have a good fight, Matou."

"You... What is your wish?" Sakura asked behind you.

You paused before facing her. Unlike Luvia, you won't lie to her, "To meet with the Dead."

"But unless you use the Sakatsuki's power, you won't be able to perform such a miracle. Even then..." Sakura said with a frown.

"It's what I have been fighting for this past 10 years. So if you're truly committed to using the Grail... You'll have to go through me," you told her with a sharp tone. You turned away and began walking to the exit, "I have information on the foes you met last night. I'll meet with you later."

You left the woman there as you went back down. You had your work cut out for you.
.....
....
...

"So you mean to tell me you know of this new foe?" Luvia asked as she had her cup of tea.

"Well, you might have caught sight of them during our fight in the amusement park," you pointed out with a raised eyebrow.

"I may have..." Luvia said as she glanced at Sakura.

"It was when Miss Kirishima was possessed. She was accompanied by a blackened Lancer," Sakura pointed out with a nod.

"The thing is, from what I know, these Servants only emerge when a normal Servant dies. The magical energy they release upon death is siphoned and split between the blackened and Miyu," you explained as you looked their way while Chiyome set down your coffee, "A handy cheat but now it needs to be reined in."

"If that's the case, then why can't Miss Kirishima control them?" Sakura asked you with a frown.

"Because they do not recognize her as their Master," Luvia said as she held up a finger, "It's just that simple."

"She wasn't the one who brought about their existence here. A girl named Saijyou Manaka called them here upon possessing Kirishima's body," you replied as you took a sip while Assassin stood behind you, "Controlling them isn't on the cards, at least not anymore."

"Whatever is making it possible for these creatures to exist... It must be a powerful thing in itself to go as far as to make a mockery of the Servant System," Luvia said as she crossed her arms.

You blinked. She didn't know the half of it. Just remembering the Beast and its scarlet form was enough to give you nightmares for the years to come.

"If such a thing were to be true, then we might need some extra help," Luvia said as she glanced at Sakura. The purple haired woman's eyes widened in alarm at that.

"Wait, no. I can still handle this," Sakura said as she got up.

"If it's a problem of this scale, having an allowance would be wise. I'm sure Rin wouldn't mind lending us that woman," Luvia said as she crossed her arms, "It's what Shirou would have wanted, Sakura."

"What is this about?" You asked with a raised eyebrow.

"We have an... Acquaintance that should be able to help," Luvia said as she rubbed her chin, "Given the War, we wouldn't be able to focus on resolving the issue so it would be wiser to enlist special assistance."

Someone who could take care of the Blackened? That would be really useful, you're not going to lie.

"Whatever your decision could be, so long as it doesn't get in the way of the war itself, I'm fine with it," you said as you gave Sakura a look, "We want a fair fight in the end after all."

Luvia blinked before glancing at Sakura whom simply looked down her feet. The blonde sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose before standing up.

"Will you excuse us, please?" Luvia said before turning to her companion, "Sakura, my office, now."

Sakura stood up and bowed your way as the two of them left. You were left at the dining table with your coffee as you took a sip. It was a good brew...

"It's delicious, Assassin," you said as you glanced her way.

"Thank you. But, was that really okay? Letting them go?" Chiyome asked you with a frown.

"It's their problem," you sighed as you shook your head.

You glanced at the living room to see Ayumi trying to make herself as inconspicuous as possible. She was really trying not to get your attention like you were going to eat her or something.

You took another sip of your coffee and found it empty. Yeah, that was a really good brew.

[] It was almost 8 am, you shouldn't let Miyu sleep in. Knock on her door and call her out.

Now that Luvia had dragged Sakura away, it would take a bit for them to return. Miss Kirishima was trying to stay inconspicuous so you decided not to bother her. You instead went to the room next to Luvia's and knock to wake Miyu up.

The door sounded and you heard movement from within. You and Assassin waited before Miyu opened the door in her pajamas, rubbing her eyes having been woken.

"Rise and shine, Miyu. Breakfast is ready," you said with a nod as you stepped aside.

"Mhm," Miyu yawned as she walked past you towards the table. Assassin moved quickly and was able to set down Miyu's meal from the counter.

"Good morning," Miyu finally greeted as she rubbed her eyes. She then turned to you, "Are you okay now?"

"Feeling a little chipper," you said as you sat down and took a sip of your coffee, "Things have been more or less rolling about. What about you, how was last night?"

"I'm... Certain you already heard," Miyu said as she held her cup of hot chocolate.

"I guess it's a question of how you're feeling," you asked as you glanced her way.

"The War is proceeding in a strange direction than what I was told. The appearance of Manaka's Blackened without her around certainly makes things complicated. We may have to stop the war to deal with it," Miyu replied as she continued with her meal.

"That's certainly in the cards. If not handled well, things may blow up out of proportion. I've already reported the danger to Luvia so rest assured there's some semblance of cooperation going on," you said with a shrug.

"I'm more surprised... That you're okay with being with them," Miyu said as she met your gaze.

"I didn't win six wars by being an aggressive Master. I know when to fold especially given my state," you said with a small smile.

Miyu stared at you before frowning. "I suppose some things don't change with you."

You were a little confused by that, "What do you mean?"

"It's moments like this that we're reminded that your not as perfect as you make yourself out to be, Hans," Assassin said as she cleared her throat.

"Right, right," you sighed as you sipped your coffee. You turned towards Miyu as she had a listless expression on her face while she ate.

It seemed that she was fully awake now to start making that face. No one was saying it but it was clear from the tension hanging in the air. It was the calm before the storm.

Once it broke loose, things were going to get truly messy. You recognized it from last year, this suffocating tension. It was enough to make a person gag.

Setting down your mug, you decided to speak up, "Miyu. How about we go visit your Mother."

Miyu blinked in surprise before looking your way, "In this situation? Don't indulge my wishes. My mother knows my duties, we shouldn't-".

"It's a wish then?" You said with a chuckle as she pouted your way.

"If this is your way of currying favor then I want no part of it," Miyu said as she looked to the side.

"You can feel it too. We're reaching the height of the War. There may no time to meet her again. That and we can decide where to hide her in a safer location," you said as you leaned back, "What do you think?"

"D-Do what you want," Miyu said with a frown as she looked to the side.

The door to Luvia's room opened and Sakura had a displeased look on her face. Luvia looked stressed but otherwise kept her expression schooled. The two of them changed expressions when Miyu came into view.

You decided to speak up and greet them, "Welcome back. Everything in order?"

"To a degree," Luvia said before turning to Miyu, "Miss Sakatsuki, good morning."

"Good morning, Miss Luvia," Miyu nodded as she glanced at Sakura.

"I do hope that you had a good night's sleep," Luvia said as she sat down on her seat, "Were you comfortable?"

"As much as I could be," Miyu said with a patient tone, "Nonetheless, Miss Sakura and Lancer proved exceptional on the battle last night."

"Indeed. Mr. Derrinsmith and our group have been discussing ways to... Combat our new foe," Luvia said with a nod.

"Hopefully you had a solution ready?" You smiled her way.

Luvia gave you a sour look but Sakura spoke in turn, "Yes. We will... Have a friend coming to aid us. We simply need to make the call."

She didn't sound happy.

"I see. Well then, I'm glad that's handled. I will be taking Miyu out today," you declared to which both women blinked at you in surprise.

"We're in the middle of the war. It's not wise taking the Grail out for a walk. She can be safe here," Luvia said with a narrowed look.

"But the Grail is also a little girl. A particularly cheeky one with a sharp tongue but a child regardless," You said to which Miyu glared at you, "Which only makes it smart to not let her be cooped up in a single room."

Luvia stared at you before Sakura crossed her arms.

"I'll go with them. I think the risk is worth it to maintain our morale, Luvia," Sakura said as she glanced at her companion, "From a tactical standpoint it makes sense."

Luvia didn't bite back at that which was surprising in itself. She simply crossed her arms and said, "Very well... If Lancer and Sakura are going I suppose it's fine."

It seemed that it was decided what the agenda was for the day.

You didn't have a suit given to you as outdoor clothes and you couldn't exactly walk out in your shirt only. You had to wear a black parka to ward off the cold as the snow fell from the sky. December 13, almost two weeks since this war began. There were still several servants left and a lot more foes to deal with.

Things weren't going to get any easier, huh?

Moving down the street, you ended up walking alongside the Matou woman. She had her hands in her coat while she watched Miyu and Assassin up ahead.

You were certain that Lancer was nearby, you can feel her gaze at the back of your neck.

The moment you did something, your head would fly off. Assassin may have been watching over Miyu but she was also minding you but you simply waved at her as you all walked. You lowered your hand and glanced at the woman beside you.

"I would assume that not everything is at it seems in your camp?" You guessed with a raised eyebrow.

"You could tell? Of course you could," Sakura said as she met your gaze.

"Well, it's not my place to pry. But isn't it nice, having people to help you?" You asked with a raised eyebrow.

Sakura closed her eyes and shook her head, "Most of my life, I'm the one being helped. When I want to give back, I always end up in this situation. It is... Frustrating."

"But there's a thin line between bravery and being reckless. Perhaps your friends only want you to be wary in your pursuit to be of use to them," you offered as you shrugged your shoulders.

You recalled Jason's words to you and felt like you were just repeating his words.

"I'm being careful. Searching for Senpai, it's all I could do. Even if my big sister told me not to worry... But it just doesn't seem right," Sakura said as her breath smoked from the cold, "I know she's worried too so before things got too bad, I decided to look for Emiya Shirou."

"How noble of you," you noted as you moved forward.

"I disagree. I don't think it's about nobility. I feel like I'm just inserting myself in the lives of others... When I'm afraid of being left behind," Sakura said as she turned her gaze to the ground.

You kept quiet as she perked up on surprise.

"Sorry for rambling," the Matou said as she shook her head.

"If only Miyu was as selfish as you are. Still, that feeling you have isn't necessarily a bad thing. At least that's what I think," you admitted with a shake of your head, "Having fought in these petty fights, people have found and lost themselves through these battles. For good or worse, you'll see for yourself how you'll end up."

Sakura met your gaze and replied, "This isn't my first war either."

"Think you can keep up, Matou?" You taunted her with a smirk.

"No. You keep up with me," Sakura answered in a determined tone.

Having arrived at the safehouse, you were greeted by your employees standing guard at the perimeter. They looked relieved to see you while you waved them off to resume their tasks. Things have been okay so far... You were let inside alongside your group into a private apartment your Company bought supposedly for your use.

It seemed that your subordinates wasted no time securing and turning the entire place into a fortress. Minerva wouldn't be so merciful towards them if they found this place and took Hiyoko away. Climbing up the apartment, you reached the floor Hiyoko was staying at and you knocked on the door.

It opened and a weary young man greeted you.

"Sir. You're finally here," he said as he leaned on the door, "Please handle her."

"Okay, what happened," you asked as you steadied the man.

"Hobbies. Mother has numerous hobbies and I can only surmise she dragged your men into them," Miyu guessed in a dry tone as she stepped in.

Your group followed her to find Hiyoko Sakatsuki in the middle of making an origami crane. Your subordinates looked exhausted as numerous origami cranes littered the floor everywhere.

"Someone had free time," Assassin noted as Hiyoko got up.

"Hans! Miyu! It's so great to see you!" Hiyoko said as she walked past the exhausted men and women, moving towards her daughter to drag her into a hug, "Are you all okay? I didn't hear from you for a day."

"Things happened," you replied with a small nod.

Hiyoko glanced at you and gave you a once over, "My, my... What a refreshing style. You look fresh, Hans."

"T-Thank you," you nodded politely while Assassin gave you a sidelong glance.

"Mother please," Miyu coughed.

"Oh! And who are these two beautiful ladies? Hans, don't tell me you've been gathering these flowers to yourself," Hiyoko teased as she glanced at Sakura and Lancer, the latter having disabled her spirit form.

Sakura had an awkward smile while Lancer simply looked annoyed.

"Hello, my name is Sakura Matou. I'm the Master of Lancer. Mr. Derrinsmith is in an alliance with us," Sakura introduced herself.

"What polite young lady you are," Hiyoko said as she giggled. She then moved to your side and her smile widened, "Nice one, Hans."

"Mother please, don't do this," Miyu murmured with a strained look. She looked like she was going to pop a vein.

Assassin was staring a hole through your head now but you ignored her. Maybe if you ignored it, it would go away...

"Miss Matou, Lancer, this is Miyu's mother. She's Hiyoko Sakatsuki," you introduced the cheerful woman as she winked.

"While it was worrying that you didn't call me, Hans, what's this visit about?" Hiyoko asked with a raised eyebrow.

"An introduction to our new allies... And a gesture of trust towards them for letting them be here. I can only hope that they can extend the same until the end of the war," You said as you glanced at Sakura.

Her eyes widened in realization that you managed to lure her in so easily. But what you did say was true. It was an extension of trust... And if she were the woman she seemed to be, she would do the same.

Not accounting on Lancer doing things on her own.

"Yes. It's as he says," Sakura sighed as she smiled towards Hiyoko.

"I see. Well, since Miyu brought her friends over, how about I make you all some snacks. Miyu, would you like to help?" Hiyoko asked her daughter.

"Yes, mother," Miyu nodded and they went to the kitchen.

It was better to get comfortable then...

.....
....
...

You left the others in Hiyoko's room to get some time by yourself. You stood at the rooftop taking in the view of the city as you glanced behind you at a couple of your men walking towards you and stopping.

"Sir, it's good to see that you're safe," the taller and more scarred of the two employees spoke. His fellow employee was the young man from before, both were a part of the group of Magus under your employ.

You smiled and raised your hand, "Sanders, Morrison. I apologize for making you babysit."

"It's nothing compared to what you're going through, sir," Sanders said as he scarred face turned into a grimace.

"Do you have new orders for us?" Morrison asked with a curious look.

"I'm thinking of transporting Hiyoko out of the city. It's only going to get worse from here. I don't want her to get in the way," you said as you glanced at the buildings before you, "Minerva's group will start moving. I want all personnel to evacuate in three days. Pull out the city and get ready to notify both the Association and the Church."

"That bad?" Sanders asked with a narrowed look.

"If I can't get the situation under control, yes. Hopefully it won't come to that. Sorry again for leaving you guys like this," you said with a small smile.

Your employees simply met your gaze. Sanders for his part replied, "We're used to it. Ten years you've taken care of us. We're in your debt, sir."

"Good. Get everything ready. I'm going to speak with the Edelfelt woman this evening and see if she can lend us a hand," you said as your subordinates walked away.

You were left alone once again as the sun traveled through the sky. You blinked and you noticed someone walking out the door your men went through.

Surprisingly, it was Miyu that stepped out.

"What happened?" You asked as you leaned against the railing behind you.

"I left them. Mother is entertaining the others," the girl said as she stopped by your side to peer over the edge of the building.

"Well, that's certainly a cruel fate," you chuckled as you looked up the sky.

Miyu turned towards you and spoke, "Hans, do you mean everything you told me?"

You raised an eyebrow before glancing at the young girl to your side. She was giving you a hard look. You decided to turn her way and crouch down to her level.

"Well, have I ever broken a promise I made to you?" You asked her right back. You saw her narrow her gaze so you raised your hand, "But yes, I do mean everything. Of my goals, of my wish... What's this about?"

"I... Just wanted to be sure," Miyu said as she turned to look down, "I am... A Child of God. I can grant anything you want. I have the potential to match Fuyuki's Grail. But you don't want that, right?"

"That would kill you. Not only that, but I think your mother wouldn't be happy if I did that. She'd be sad," you replied as you met her gaze.

"So far, you haven't let me slip away. Under your protection, I learned a lot of things. I judged you and your cause," Miyu said with a quiet voice, "You insist on me deciding if being the Grail was fine."

"It's our little game after all. Don't tell me you came to a decision," you said as you got up and held on to the railing.

"I wonder, Hans... I wonder if it's all right to decide things on my own. Someone like me... Can I do it?" Miyu asked you with an uncertain tone, "Seeing Mother and everyone else back there. It made me feel envious."

"What about that beautiful Wish you want to see?" You asked her with a raised eyebrow, "Are you giving up on it?"

Miyu shook her head, "If need be, I'll do it. But... This feeling is something that crept up inside me. So... It should be my own. I was born for this purpose but after seeing battle after battle these past few days, I don't know anymore. So I'm asking you."

"Well to me it sounds like you have your own thoughts now," you said with a smirk.

"So is it all right, Hans? For me to decide things on my own? In defiance for everything I was born to do and be?" Miyu asked as she looked up at you.

You stared at her golden eyes long and hard. You eventually shut your own and sighed. You reached out and rubbed her head.

"You're a kid. It's fine to be selfish. It's fine to throw a tantrum. If you do something bad, your mom or someone will scold you. That's just how things are, you know?" You told her with a gentle smile, "So... Do what you want. You're not bound by the expectations adults put upon you. They don't get to decide who or what you'll be. Only you can and that's only if you let them."

"Selfish..." Miyu whispered before meeting your gaze, "Then... I have a Wish."

"The Grail having a Wish... That's a first," you chuckled.

"It's something I don't think even the Grail could grant. But Hans... If anything happens to me, do you think you can erase her memory of my existence?" Miyu asked as she lowered her head, "I... Don't want her to be saddened."

"That's only if something happens to you? Why would you think that?" You asked her.

"This war is unpredictable... Not even you are guaranteed to win. But if you survive, I want you to take care of her," Miyu said as she clenched her fist.

[] "That won't do at all. You'll make it, Miyu. You, your mom, you'll both make it. I'll make sure of it."

You met her gaze and gave her a small smile. You reached out and ruffled her hair, "That won't do at all. You'll make it, Miyu. You, your mom, you'll both make it. I'll make sure of it."

Miyu held you by your wrist as her golden eyes met yours, "You... Should be careful promising things to strangers."

"Strangers... Is that still how you see us?" You asked her with a raised eyebrow, "If anything, I'd call you a friend."

"I... Why would you go this far for us? For me?" Miyu asked as she looked to the side with a worried expression.

"At first, it was because I hated the idea of you being used... Given I knew someone like that in the past. But now, I can see that it's what you want. You just can't say it out loud," you told her as you stepped back, "Leave it to me, okay?"

"I can't say it... It's not as simple as just saying it. It's difficult, with all the weight that's on my shoulders. To allow one man, a Magus at that, to bear it all would be too much. You've proven to be trustworthy, you've risked yourself and your Servant for me, you can promise me the moon and I would still hesitate," Miyu said as she shook her head, "I'm... Scared, Hans. I'm afraid."

"I see. Well, that's not an abnormal feeling to have. You can choose to believe me or not. But I've pretty much decided," you told her as you looked down at the city, "I'm not a Saint. I'm not doing this entirely out of the goodness of my heart. But if I have the chance to do good for others, I'll do it."

"Then does that mean that if it didn't align with your goals, you wouldn't do this?" Miyu asked you.

"Of course not. All you have to do is ask for my help. Whether it's to help your mom, save you from this position you're in, or to guide you somewhere," you replied with a patient tone.

"If only my family found you sooner," Miyu said as she lowered her head.

"What matters now is that we're here. I'll work something out," you assured her as she nodded.

"What an odd proposal," Luvia noted as she leaned on the arm of her chair.

You smiled her way and said, "I would like to have your help on this. If your goals are truly noble in simply stopping this war, you would extend this carrot at least."

"I see no problem in helping you with this. However it's simply odd that you would propose it like that. Taking Miyu out, exposing yourselves, and finally this... Is this simply how you fight your wars?" Luvia asked you with a raised eyebrow.

"It was to raise morale, gauge enemy reaction and holding you to your word. The Matou woman has her own plans but she still defers to you. You'd best align yourselves or risk coming apart," You warned her as you leaned back on your seat.

"Still... Transporting Miss Miyu's mother. That will be easy. But what of her family? The Sakatsuki do not consist of only those two," Luvia said as she narrowed her gaze, "They're no doubt being held by the Architects of this War, which would be the Luctworth."

You gave her a hard look as you spoke, "Well... If I had the choice I would leave them to their fates."

Luvia frowned.

But you smiled and held up your hand, "That would be the best course of action. But just this once... I'd like to try my hand at being a Hero."

"And for what?" Luvia questioned as she crossed her arms, "What would it gain us?"

"An apology. I want the people who decided for this arrangement... To apologize to that girl. A child that young shouldn't witness the horrors of this war," you said as you gave her a cold smile, "You're a rare breed of Magus, Miss Edelfelt. Surely you agree. In exchange, feel free to make use of my resources following the War."

"You would this far?" Luvia asked.

"Yes. I would go further if permitted. I won't be able to handle this by myself," you admitted as you shook your head, "So how about it?"

"It's fine. Though tell me one thing in exchange, Derrinsmith," Luvia said as she leaned her head on her chin, "After this war, what are you truly after?"

You met her gaze and you could feel her magical energy tense up. You replied calmly even then...

"If I tell you, would you be my accomplice?" You asked as you gave her a serious look. You leaned forward and said, "There won't be going back if you agree."

Luvia scoffed at your words, "Please, don't take me for a fool."

"I know. You're an Edelfelt. You're smart," you said as you shrugged.

"So long as it doesn't involve compromising the moonlit world. Still, it must be something you're obsessed with to pursue for ten years," Luvia noted as she leaned back on her seat.

"Compared to the dream of Magi of reaching the Root? My pursuits are insignificant," you said with a nod, "Just keep being a Magus, Miss Edelfelt. You'll sleep better knowing that."

"I see. Then what about the plan that you have for the Sakatsuki?" Luvia asked you with a curious look.

"I have my employees. They're third rate Magi but they're dependable enough to weather Luctworth defenses to retrieve those people. I will require Lancer's strength however," you said as you held up your hand, "Assassin and I will take care of Saber and her Master."

"A two pronged strike... Then what of Archer?" Luvia asked with a raised eyebrow.

"That's where Lancer comes in. However, since I heard from Sakura that some help will be on the way, would you be amenable to waiting until then?" You offered her with a suggestion.

Luvia narrowed her gaze, "You just want extra muscle."

"But it would certainly guarantee the lives of innocents. Even I believe that with more hands on deck, we can have a higher chance of succeeding," you said as you met her eyes, "Besides, Assassin and I will bear the greatest risk if things go awry. Minerva won't let the chance to kill me slip by."

Luvia considered it for a moment while you sat quietly. The living room was silent given that the two of you were the only ones present. Well, that's not discounting Lancer and Assassin keeping themselves hidden nearby.

Finally, the woman sighed as she gave you a look, "Very well. Our help should be able to arrive in five days. That means we have to prepare for a defense before then."

"Yes. Well then, we have a day to prepare. I'll leave the planning to you for that," you said as you stood up, "I hope you have a good night."

"Likewise, Mr. Derrinsmith," Luvia said as you turned away from her to head to your room.

Well, that was dealt with. Things were going to get dicey from now on.

.....
....
...

"He certainly has things all neatly planned out. Just the right amount of risk and the right amount of benefit for all parties," Luvia said as she watched the door to the man's room.

Lancer revealed herself with a sour expression, "How long do you plan on dancing to his tune?"

"As long as we need to. I know you didn't have the best impression of him and Assassin... But stay your hand. If not for the mission then do it for Sakura," Luvia said as she glanced at the Servant.

Lancer looked to the side and vanished. Luvia felt like she needed a drink. Preferably a stiff one...

The next morning came and you were walking down the street. You had left early with a note that you'll be back by noon. Passerby's filled the sidewalk as the distant sound of Christmas songs drifted through the air.

Traffic was normal too and didn't have much trouble going through the slippery roads. Your breath smoked as you walked while you kept a vigilant eye at your surroundings.

"I don't understand. Why do I have to be like this," Chiyome asked as she looked down her purple coat and boots as she walked by your side, "I think it would be better if I went back to stealth."

"I'd be awkward walking on my lonesome. Plus I prefer it this way," you replied with a chuckle.

"You're doing your gigolo thing again," Chiyome pointed out as her one eye met yours.

"Don't call it that! Geez," you groaned as you scratched your head.

"Be careful what you wish for, My Lord," Assassin giggled as she held her hands behind her back, "So where are we going?"

[] "The Church. We do have info for the Hortensia woman and hopefully tip our chances on that command seal."

You glanced her way and said, "The Church. We do have info for the Hortensia woman and hopefully tip our chance on that command seal."

"I wasn't aware of this. What's it about?" Chiyome asked as she raised an eyebrow.

"If we find out what's been killing people and stop it, we might get a command seal out of it. The Administrator said as much over the phone last time we spoke," you recalled as you rubbed your chin, "We do know that Archer's Master utilizes the undead somehow in conjunction with the Servant's powers."

"I see. It would be be better if the Church was made aware," Chiyome said with a thoughtful look, "Is that why you were confident on giving Luvia the task of taking Miyu's clan?"

"She'll do a better job than us. You're not built for that kind of battle," you replied as you walked with your cane, "I just want a better battlefield where you can shine."

"That would run opposite of my mode of operation. I am Shinobi after all," Assassin reminded you with a small smile.

"So you are," you nodded.

You and Assassin continued your walk down the street.

"It's so peaceful... Totally different from my era," Chiyome said as she watched the streets and people pass by.

The sound of cars moved to and fro, lining up in their lanes and being as busy as ever. The Christmas jingles drifted through the air as snow began to fall from the gray skies. It was two weeks exactly to the day since the war began.

Every war felt like it went on for months on end when it was just days or even weeks since they began. This one was no different. For people undergoing the wars, each battle would mark themselves upon their bodies and minds.

The things they did would drag them down through their lives... Then what of you?

"I wonder, Hans. Would people like me have a place in a world as peaceful as this?" Chiyome asked as she stopped to look at the people.

You stared at her as she looked on with a bright twinkle in her eye. It was only for a short while but she's truly shown a lot of her sides to you. A smile, a look of worry, anger and even sadness, you've seen those sides of her.

But even then, you don't truly know anything about her, huh?

"People like you? I disagree. I think you have a place here, Assassin. The world's much bigger than just the regions in Japan you lived in. In world like this, surely there's a little place for you," you said as you walked past her.

Chiyome blinked and glanced your way, "And if I still can't find it?"

You stopped. You then said as you faced her, "Well, I guess you can always follow me."

She stared at you before giving you a beautiful smile, "I think I'd prefer that more, My Lord."

.....
....
...

The two of you arrived at the church a few minutes later. Walking in, Assassin had vanished from your side to survey the area and make sure that it wasn't compromised. Stepping in, it was pretty deserted save for a few people.

The person you were looking for however was just standing nearby the entrance speaking to some old ladies. Her eyes turned your way as you waved at her before she departed from those she spoke from.

Caren Hortensia stopped before you and spoke, "Welcome to the Lord's humble home. I pray that you came with good news. Courtesy calls are not welcome."

"Well I can't exactly say it's good considering its part of what you asked," you told her with a raised eyebrow.

"Wonderful. Seems like there's one Master in the city willing to do actual work. None of the others have been useful so I have been making investigations of my own," Caren said as she held her hands behind her back, "Come, let's speak somewhere private."

"Right," you replied as you followed her to the side of the church.

Caren glanced at you and said, "You certainly look different. I hope you're not doing anything that the Lord would find distasteful."

"Well, considering I'm a Magus, that's already a foregone conclusion, isn't it now?" You told her with a shake of your head.

The two of you stepped out of the church into the snowy gardens to its right. A circular path surrounded a frozen fountain before Caren finally stopped before it.

"So what do you have to share?" Caren asked turning your way.

"Well, the culprit to the disappearances is Archer. Two nights ago she was using undead made from the corpses of civilians to attack us. I think she would be your prime suspect given the circumstances," you explained as you leaned on your cane, "I think it's related to her immortal blood giving her the ability to imperfectly raise the dead."

"So it's not entirely the work of a dead apostle," Caren said as she rubbed her chin, "Then there's no need to call the executioners just yet and stop the war. Still, this is a grave situation."

"You believe me?" You blinked in surprise.

"I'm taking to account your words but I would have to investigate further by myself. Archer's Master hasn't shown himself since the start of the war... Still, any master that defeats Archer will be rewarded with a Command Seal. You will have to do your best," Caren said as she met your gaze.

"Well, I would like to have one," you said as you looked down your right hand.

Caren then walked up to you and jabbed her finger into your chest, "Then it would be best if you went and did something about it. For a man who loves these wars so much, your slothfulness is astounding."

"I'm still human, you know? I need breaks too," you replied with an awkward smile.

"That aside, Hans Derrinsmith... Is Kirishima Ayumi well?" Caren asked you as she stepped back.

You tensed internally but you managed to school your expression. Did she know about the Blackened Servants already?

"She's... Well. Why do you ask?" You replied with a calm tone.

"Masters without Servants are always welcome in the Church. I believe it would be better if she stayed here with me than be at risk within your presence," Caren said she stared at you hard, "Please consider this well..."

.....

...

Sakura Matou stepped out of her room and shut the door behind her. The living room was empty though the TV was on. Luvia was supposedly preparing for the defense's next location while Lancer was guarding Miyu in the other room.

The only other person that would be here would be Kirishima-san. Sakura had thought to make some hot chocolate to ease her nerves for what was to come in a few days.

The situation had gotten to this point already, she had to do better but it was also true that there's only so much she could do. The contenders for this war were strong. Even Derrinsmith, weakened as he was, would have left her and Lancer unscathed if he and Assassin fought to the death.

It was totally unlike the Fuyuki War...

Sakura felt a slight twinge of pain in her chest.

She ignored it. It was just phantom pain at this point. Walking to the kitchen, she heard the grunts of pain nearby. Sakura moved and found that the bathroom door was ajar, the blonde haired girl within it was hunched over the sink, her knuckles white from gripping the edge of it.

Sakura spoke up in concern, "Kirishima-san?"

She got close and reached out for the girl but Ayumi jerked her head to face her. Blue eyes.

A hand wrapped around Sakura's wrist and she felt her heart ache for some reason. Ayumi blinked before she let go and pulled back.

"Y-You surprised me," Ayumi replied as she seemed out of breath.

"I apologize... Are you okay?" Sakura asked in concern.

"Yes. I'm fine, Miss Matou," Ayumi said as she held her head, "It's just a migraine."

Sakura's eyes widened before saying, "I see. I'll make something for it then. Maybe just something warm to keep it off your mind."

"Yes. Thank you," Ayumi nodded as Sakura left. Ayumi was left alone in the bathroom again before she glanced at the mirror...

Where an a Scarlet Eye had taken much of its surface, hidden to all but her own vision. It called for her... And it was saying that she was its Mother.

You were left walking back down the street as the sun began to set. Dusk had began to descend while you were left wondering if you should have spoken about the Blackened to Caren. No, that would only make things worse with the Church coming down this War.

You needed those things but they were wildcards. They can do damage to you as much as they could wreak havoc against your foes. You felt a slight regret now, maybe you should turn back...

"Hans. We're being watched," Assassin warned you as you stopped.

Already? This was sure something.

"Do you know where they are?" you asked with a raised eyebrow as you kept moving.

"I'm not sure. I'm sorry," Chiyome said as you smiled.

[] Make a break for it. Run and put some distance.

"Guess we're running then. I'm making a break for it. See what's chasing then," you said as you tapped your cane on the ground and reinforced your legs.

This better be good. You kicked off the ground and broke into a sprint. You dashed through the sidewalk and made your way through the crowd, slipping past them as you ran.

Assassin moved above you while keeping herself hidden. Somehow you could feel a killing intent bear down on you as you ran. You crossed a street, causing one car to skid to a halt and forcing you to vault over it.

Landing in a roll, you recovered and kept running. You looked up to see something trailing you along the buildings. You moved to a building and dashed towards it however projectiles flew right at you.

Assassin intercepted them with her own kunai from the shadows before she narrowed her gaze.

"Hans, keep running," Chiyome told you as you did a she told you. You kept moving until you stopped before the entrance where people were crowding in.

"What about you?" you asked as you turned to where she should be.

"I can handle this. Just stay safe and run. This one won't give up all too easily," Assassin said as you stepped into the mall.

You got in and grimaced, "Stay safe. I'll be returning first."

"Of course. Master."

.....
....
...

Chiyome smiled as she kept herself hidden before focusing her eye towards where her enemy was. She jumped across traffic and over cars before kicking off a truck. Grabbing on to a lightpost, she swung herself upwards and revealed a Shinobi hook to throw at the edge of a building.

She used it to maneuver through the air and pull herself down... Straight at the hidden Servant. She pulled her sword and slashed, her blade clashing with her foe as she lost her Presence Concealment.

Chiyome stood up as the Blackened Servant straightened her back and stared at the Kunoichi through a skull mask. The Blackened and dull violet hair cut short and a form fitting outfit which matched her dark skin.

Golden eyes peered behind the mask as dirks lined between her fingers.

"You seem eager. But can you keep up?" Chiyome asked as she narrowed her gaze and bared her sword and kunai.

The Blackened didn't reply and simply dashed forward. Throwing her dirks, she closed in on Chiyome, forcing the other to swat them aside. The two exchanged blows on the rooftop they were fighting on.

The Blackened turned to swing a kick as Chiyome dodged. She slashed but her blows were parried and blocked, an opening refusing to reveal itself as she was pushed back.

The Blackened kicked off the ground and threw a cluster of knives. Chiyome slashed through the air to knock them aside as the Blackened dashed forward. She swung her knives and cut before sweeping the ground with her leg.

Chiyome brought down her sword but her blow was caught and she was pushed back.

"Guh!" Chiyome hissed as the Blackened came for her. A kick swing by as a knife nearly caught her. She blocked and parried a series of strikes before she turned and cut through her foe.

Her sword sliced across her enemy's body before she followed up. The Blackened blocked and redirected the strike aside, using that chance to shoot out a kick.

Assassin anticipated this and struck the leg down with the pommel of her sword. She then stepped past the Blackened and drove her blade into the enemy Servant's neck, ripping it out as blood spurted from the wound.

However the Servant's body vanished and Chiyome was assaulted by a feeling of lightning through her body. She gasped the air and felt her lungs burn. Blinking, she found that she was seeing double as the Blackened stepped out of the shadows.

The air... Poison?

This was bad, she had to get out of here. Chiyome retreated but just as she turned, the Blackened was there. She parried the strike before ducking low to avoid the kick aimed at her back.

Chiyome turned kept her foe at bay with her blade. She hissed and focused her inner strength before swinging her sword down. As a Shinobi, her body had been trained for these situations. To resist poison by subjecting her body through grueling training, Chiyome focused.

Her grip on her sword tightened as she stared down the illusions made by the poison.

"There could only be one Assassin. Don't waste my time. My Lord is waiting for me," Mochizuki Chiyome declared as she got into a stance.

The Blackened Servant stared at her before a smile curled behind that pale skull mask.

Chiyome would vanquish this creature right here.

Chiyome kicked off the ground and dashed forward. The Blackened was ready, bending her back to avoid the Shinobi's slash. She danced and weaved through Assassin's strikes before clashing, their blades bouncing off one another before they were caught in a flurry of blows.

Sparks flew past the two combatants as Chiyome's mind went overdrive. Her blood pumped as she parried and block, creating openings to slash her sword through just as the illusions joined in.

"Nice try," Chiyome breathed as black serpents appeared, opening their jaws to crush the illusions.

The Blackened was distracted before Chiyome managed to get close with an overhead strike. Kicking the enemy's knee, she smashed her sword's pommel across the Blackened's mask before dodging a thrust from the skull masked girl's dagger.

Chiyome moved and smashed her knee into her enemy's gut. A frown came across her limbs and hand as the Blackened slid back. Assassin looked down at herself and noticed the slight discoloration of her skin.

"Don't tell me... Your entire body is coated in poison?" Chiyome asked with a narrowed look.

The Blackened didn't reply as her mask split apart and fell to the ground, revealing s beautiful visage of a young woman. Her golden eyes were reminiscent of the other Blackened as an air of... Wrongness filled her presence.

Assassin threw her kunai as the Blackened parried it, not noticing the explosive tag on it.

BANG

She didn't wait for her foe to react and rushed in. Breaking through the fire, she slashed to find nothing as the Blackened had jumped up, spiraling down as Chiyome rolled. They moved and clashed, Assassin being faster of the two as she managed to deal cuts and slashes on her enemy's flesh.

An illusion came up behind Chiyome and forced her to sidestep, slicing its arm with a kunai before cutting its head off. She turned and blocked a strike at her neck, this left her open as she tensed up as hands appeared from behind her.

A voice whispered into her ear, a sickeningly sweet whisper at that, "Zabaniya..."

The Blackened pulled her close to embrace her but Assassin vanished. In her place was a large black serpent at the cusp of death from coming in contact with the Blackened's skin. However in its dying breath, it hissed and bared its fang, diving towards her neck and biting deep into her poisoned flesh.

It died, wasting away from her Noble Phantasm but it didn't let go, prompting her to pull it out of her neck. It was during this time she saw Chiyome reappear before her.

The Shinobi cut down with her katana and sliced the Blackened's eye.

"I have to return to him," Assassin declared as she stepped forward, "Your presence isn't needed!"

She thrust but the Blackened Servant raised her hand and caught the sword with her palm. Pulling the blade, the Blackened reached out to touch Chiyome but a snake replaced her once more.

A black ribbon was left alongside the serpent as Chiyome appeared behind the Blackened. The enemy Servant managed to turn and kick aside Chiyome's hand, numbing Assassin's grip as she leaned back to avoid the Blackened's attack.

Illusions appeared as the Blackened rushed her down. The katana clattered against the floor as the enemy Servant slashed with her Dirk. Chiyome blocked it with her own kunai before pushing her foe back.

She gasped for breath as her lungs burned. The smell of poison and the constant brushes against her foe was starting to numb her body. It was only through iron will and control that Chiyome was able to maintain control.

Her eyepatch was gone, revealing her serpent eye to her enemy. But she didn't care... She had to get back to Hans. Drawing upon her kunai and Shinobi tools, she lit a bomb on her hand.

Throwing it into the ground, the rooftop was filled with smoke, a curtain of gray which hung still for a moment. The Blackened saw the projectiles come through the sound of wind.

She dodged and weaved through them, breaking through the smoke where Assassin was waiting. Chiyome was waiting for her, smiling as thin iron wires were connected to her fingers.

The Blackened stopped and turned around to see that the blades Assassin had thrown were connected to the wires. With a single tug, the blades all came flying back coming straight for the Blackened.

However just as they were going to hit, black liquid seeped from the Blackened's flesh. It surged and engulfed the Shinobi tools, melting them down to nothingness. Black mud washed over the blades and wires until there was nothing left.

The Blackened glanced at Chiyome as corrupted mud leaked from her skin.

Blood dripped from the wound Assassin inflicted as she smiled. A sorrowful and self pitying smile...

"She's strong..." Assassin grit her teeth as her muscles began to freeze up. A purple haze hung over the rooftop as she grimaced.

She wanted to end this quickly but she severely underestimated her foe. She would have to endure... They moved, a flurry a of blades and blows slamming into one another as the Blackened was pushed back.

Bring down her hand, the black mud moved to grasp at her neck. Assassin focused and summoned a black serpent to rise up and meet it. The mud and serpent smashed into one another as she weaved and dodged through the torrent of corruption.

Her serpentine eye flashed as she splashed oil upon her katana. Striking it with her kunai, she ignited her sword as Chiyome danced through the torrent of blackened mud.

She cut through it with her flaming sword before the Blackened Servant unleashed more. The light of Chiyome's flames were snuffed just as the Blackened stop producing the mud.

Something hissed behind her and she turned to grab a black serpent out of the air from biting her. She held it by its neck and crushed it. Her eyes turned to her front just as Chiyome drove a kunai into her chest.

The Blackened choked on her own blood as Chiyome eyed her with a cold gaze, using her iron wire to pull her katana out of the ground and into her hand. Assassin caught her sword and slashed across her foe's stomach.

Blood danced in the air just as Chiyome kicked off the ground and jumped over her foe. Slashing once more, she severed the Blackened's arm before landing behind her.

She drove her blade through parallel of the first kunai through the Blackened's chest. Chiyome withdrew her sword as the Blackened's body fell on her knees. The enemy choked on her own blood, holding her neck before falling on her hand.

Chiyome walked by her side with her katana in hand, raised up in the air.

"Farewell," Chiyome declared as she cut but in that same moment, a needle shot out of the mud and grazed her cheek.

The sword fell and the Blackened's head was chopped off. Chiyome quickly pulled back as she held her cheek and felt it bleed before growing hot.

Her vision blurred as her strength weakened. It hurt... And everything was going numb. Assassin endured and moved on. She had to get back, he was waiting for her.

And so Assassin walked away from her kill without ever looking back.

.....
....
...

You were waiting for her.

You looked down the back of your hand as you stared at your Command Seal. You were hiding in an alleyway as snow fell from the sky, blanketing the ground and the nearby dumpsters. You waited... You already contacted Luvia and the Matou girl, they'll be here soon.

You clenched your fist and raised your head upon hearing something. Assassin was walking towards you with her sword hanging behind her waist.

"I'm back, Hans," Chiyome said as she walked towards you.

Her walk was a bit unsteady so you let go of your cane and moved towards her. You held her steady by the shoulder as you looked down on her in concern.

"Are you all right? Are you hurt?" You quickly asked her.

"I'm fine," Chiyome said as she met your gaze, "She had a few hits but I slew her in the end. It was Manaka's construct..."

You noticed the cut on her cheek and noticed that it was turning purple. She was also paler than normal.

"Chiyo-," you tried calling for her but she cut you off by resting on your chest.

"Forgive me. But please indulge me for a moment," Chiyome said as she hugged you.

You hesitated as you kept your hand aloft. You managed to get the courage of stroking the back of her head before you felt her grip loose on you. Your eyes widened.

"Chiyome? Chiyome!" You began to yell in a panic as you slowly went down supporting her.

Not good. She's poisoned...

"Dammit, stay with me! Hey! Don't fall asleep!" You yelled at her as you etched a refresh rune on her body before taking out a blood vial from your pocket.

It should replenish her mana but things were getting bad.

Footsteps came behind you and you turned, your circuits flaring as your cane began to float defensively. Sakura Matou had arrived alongside Lancer.

"What happened?" Sakura asked as she walked forward towards you.

"Ambushed. Assassin is in a bad way. I can't treat her here," You explained with a concerned look, "It was the Blackened... She managed to kill it but..."

"It's fine. I'll carry her," Sakura said as she nodded your way. She then turned, "Lancer, can you protect us?"

"Right..." Lancer replied as she eyed Assassin with no small amount of bloodlust in her eyes.

Sakura picked up Chiyome but your Servant hasn't let go of your arm.

"I'll... Be fine..." She assured you with a small smile.
