Fate/Barren Lie: A Fate/Zero Quest

[X] Send Saber. She is your Servant, and she shall stand in your stead. You have faith in her abilities.

Given this madhouse like our only chance against some of these guys is to Assassinate their masters. Keeping Assassin in reserve is best

[X] Go with Saber. Prove that you are a Master worthy of standing by your Servant.

Showing up with Saber when all the other masters are in hiding should definitely put us in a good light in front of king Ozy and having him liking us is pretty good. Although Saber should put her basket back on, and we should put on a hood or something if possible so not everyone can immediately identify us again on seeing us somewhere else.
Assassin can stay in the shadows and scout out the enemy masters if any of them are near since there is no way for them to sense her if she doesn't attack.

Jack has Information Erasure, we have nothing to fear.
It only activates after the conclusion of an engagement so im not sure if showing up to get talked at by Ozy counts for that.

Berserker Spartacus, Archer Billy, Caster Anastasia, and I think Lancer Enkidu?

With Jack, Yamato, and Ozymandias here, that's every servant
I agree with this and its an interesting servant lineup, Jackie and Billy are honestly the weird ones here because they are comparatively young legends when in this setup.

Also since we summoned Yamato in Japan and she is one of the rather well known figures of legend here, how big is the fame boost she got from that?

[X] Go with Saber. Prove that you are a Master worthy of standing by your Servant.

Show up the other masters.

Plus, if Ozzy likes us then maybe he'll kill someone else first.

actually, C4d and Rune_Fireheart (as well as anyone else who mentioned this) made pretty good points into getting in Ozzy's good books, so I'm voting for this instead

Yeah sure lets impress Ozy I guess. I expect there will be a certain amount of showmanship involved yes?

I might be convinced to go with Saber and keep Assassin a secret, except that I think Rider can sense her somehow (since he did look at us despite being hidden). Was it ever stated in canon that Servants can detect each other? If so there's not much point hiding Jack.

Also from the current setup of servants only Ozy and Enkidu are a serious threat to us, the others can either be evaded or outfought.
Ozy has his temple and all his other stuff up and running which basically means he is an extremely tough nut to crack and should not be antagonized.
Enkidu is one of the strongest defensive servants since ha can basically endlessly heal himself if not destroyed in a single strike as long as he has enough energy. Also he has the best chances of taking down Ozy if it comes to a direct fight.
Billy might be a good Archer but i doubt he could stand against Saber in a direct fight. I actually kind of pity him here because the matchups for a direct fight are not very favorable.
Spartacus is a giant wall of muscle and power that is extremely hard to kill, im actually not sure anyone but Ozy currently has the needed firepower to kill him fast enough so that his NP cant kick in and heal him. But other than that he is not particularly fast or subtle and can be easily evaded.
Anastasia, if she has no territory set up, would be realatively easy to defeat since Saber is extremely resistant against magic and together with assassin there is little she would be able to do. But if she has her territory set up she becomes nearly unassailable while inside.

Servants can sense each other but Assassin has a very low presence to begin with and her presence concealment skill, which makes her undetectable as long as she is not attacking or planning to attack, on top of that. So while it is safe to assume that Ozy knows Saber is here, Assassin should still be hidden.

[X] Go with Saber. Prove that you are a Master worthy of standing by your Servant.

Even if Ozy does know about Assassin I dont think he'd be begrude hiding such a trump card or not displaying oneself as a huge threat / target for other teams to gang up on.

[X] Go with Saber. Prove that you are a Master worthy of standing by your Servant.

Given that Assassin is, you know, an assassin, if anyone would be able to avoid being detected, it would be her. There's a pretty good chance Ozy hasn't noticed her. Also, most masters likely won't know your identity, so showing yourself will throw the others into confusion. Besides, you don't have to worry about being assassinated, since Ozy clearly won't like that and more than likely prevent it. The only one who could pull it off is on your side, so there's that.

Repost because wrong threadmark/label

Woo! Close vote and all that jazz. There's some hidden stuff in the previous chapter - should be pretty easy to find if you search for it.
Next chapter should be in one or two days (most likely two, but I'll try to get it out asap).

There should be an edit threadmark button I think, but I'm no expect on SV so...

Is the stuff we missed the whole red numbers thing? I'm not sure what those are, maybe hexadecimals?

Yeah I figured those numbers were some sort of code, but I couldn't figure out which kind so I just gave up lol. Thanks for translating it though :D

Names have both meaning and power. To be someone, you must have a name - in a way, that name shapes you, crafts you. A rose, by any other name...?

"...Master?" Jack's voice breaks you out of your ruminations. That's fine; you came to a decision already.

"Sorry Jack, but I need to be there."
Unconsciously, you ruffle Assassin's hair as you step forward, away from Assassin and towards Saber. The butterflies are still there, but you force yourself to move - one step after another. Nothing will get done if you allow Ozymandias to hold a monopoly over the conversation; you need to challenge him, force him back, as intimidating as that might be. "Can you get to the sniper once we go out?" Jack nods, slinking back into the shadows with only the faintest of whispers.
You turn back to Saber, holding her gaze for a second. "Saber, I'm going with you. Anything you want to say?"

Saber simply smirks in response, completely relaxed as she stretches. "Nothing, just - we're making a cool entrance, right?" Her figure flickers, before shifting - the t-shirt and ripped jeans gone in favor of her previous garb, her face hidden under the mask. Battle-ready.
You stop for a moment. "Oy, Jack, can you bring up some fog? And..."
...
...
"Is that it?" Ozymandias scowls at the assorted Servants. "I expected more Servants to heed my call. Foolish!" His voice booms out, not rasping or loud but filled with the commanding weight of a pharaoh, of a leader. "I suppose that you are not used to being summoned by a pharaoh, so I shall grant you some leniency. But, this is-"
Pharaoh Ozymandias stopped, for the first time showing something like surprise on his face. Maybe a trace of... fear. Berserker smiled, his grin hungry and carnal. Even Archer and Caster took notice of what was happening, the latter scanning the area with more than a little bit of trepadation.

Fog. A deep, dark fog that crept in from seemingly nowhere.
Fog so dense and cold that the Servants could feel trapped, could feel like they were meeting something far beyond their power. Like a visceral reminder of how everything that you knew, everything that could be known - was but a speck to the power of the unknown. Darkness. Fear. Everything primal that could not be denied was pounding at the door, right on their doorsteps. The fog crackled with a hiss as it met Ozymandias's golden aura - shifting, darkening - a solid dividing line of light and dark. But even the golden light of Ozymandias was but a speck in the darkness, a sole beacon of light among what was to be the blackest night. The fog coiled and grew, like a monster of the night here to consume what insignificant beings lay before him.
A scream of wind rushes through the area, ripping through the metal, the fog contorting and whispering-
And you step out of the darkness, the biggest shit-eating grin on your face, Saber right behind you.
"Yo."

"...FUAHAHAHAHA!" It takes you a second to identify what was happening, and another second to fully process it. Ozymandias - Pharaoh Ozymandias - is laughing, his head tilted back in mirth as he cackles. Uproariously, yet somehow in-line with the behavior and demeanor of a pharaoh.
"YES! Yes, that is an entrance worth of a pharaoh, almost worthy of respect. To make one believe that they are the main character of this epic, not a passing footnote in the story of time- and a Master, no less!" He straightens up, wiping a tear away, staring you in the eyes with something almost like respect. "Tell me, what are your names."

You briefly consider denying his request - but, even then, there's really no need, considering how much of a mystery factor you are.
"Johanna Du Soliel, at your service, and Saber." You even do a curtsy, much to his surprise.

"I see!" He nods, as if that answer was exactly what he was expecting. "Du Soliel... the sun... interesting. The wheel of fate is fickle, but it is impossible to deny the fact we were fated to meet. I suppose I will have to reward you, for the generosity of the pharaoh knows no bounds." He raises a single finger. "A single boon. Ask one question, and I shall answer it truthfully."

A boon... a single question. You think for a second; this is important, regardless of how you spin it. You could get information - about his Master, his Noble Phantasm... or, something even more important? You pause, before replying:

[X] What is your most powerful Noble Phantasm?
[X] Who is your Master?
[X] Write-In.

After Ozymandias answers your question, you stand back, content to simply be there in the shadows. Unfortunately, another Servant seemed to have the same idea as you.
"Heyo, little lady." Archer gives you a little half-wave from the side, leaning back on one of the shipping containers. He's shorter than you thought, slightly shorter than you in fact, clad in what seems to be a full-on cowboy ensemble. Still, he keeps his confidant swagger about him as he stands back. "Pretty bold of you to do that."

You give him a haughty scoff, displaying confidence you didn't realize you had. "Is that a threat?"

"Maybe." He gives you a quick smile that never reaches his eyes. His gun spins - flips - drops back into the holster. Archer is utterly relaxed - and that's what scares you the most, you realize. He's not unprepared, just - ready. Like he has all the time in the world.
Class: Archer
Keywords: Cowboy, Quick Draw, Short?
Master: ?????????
True Name: ?????????

Strength: D
Endurance: E
Agility: B+ -> B
Mana: E
Luck: B+
Noble Phantasm: C -> C-

Independant Action: A : Known as an outlaw and a renegade in life, Archer was known for striking out on his own and traveling alone. After all, you can't get shot if there isn't anyone to shoot you...
Archer can survive for up to a week without a source of prana, and even then he can use his Noble Phantasm without assistance; however, without a contract, Archer is significantly weaker and cannot fully sustain his existence within this world.

Quick Draw: A+ : Archer's signature style of fighting involves a single blast of terrifyingly on-target shots from his pistol. More importantly, his skill has been honed to the point of subtle precognition; Archer will be able to draw, load, and fire long before his opponent can get their shot off.
You can draw your gun, y'know. I'll still shoot first...

(Further Skills are hidden).
There's a clack, as Saber's hand drops down to the sheath of her leaf-shaped sword. Archer hears it as well.
"You're trying to bring a sword to a gunfight?"
Saber smiles back, her lips pulled back in a hungry grin. "That's all I need. Want to see who's the faster draw?"
"Hah! That's good." He tips his cowboy hat forward, the shadow drawn over his face. "Looks like we have a good-old-fashioned Mexican Standoff here."

There's a few seconds of strained silence, before a blast of molten light and heat rips through the concrete between Archer and Saber. Ozymandias lowers his scepter once they turn to look at him with a frown. "I care not for your petty brawl. I summoned you here for a reason, after all."
"That being?" Saber takes the words right out of your mouth, but surprisingly it's Caster who responds. Her voice is quiet, almost solemn, the golden fabric of her dress shimmering as she moves. She appears deep in thought.

"You want an army. To conquer the world."

An army of Heroic Spirits... you suppress a shudder. The thought of a monster fighting in a big city like London or New York always seemed like something straight out of an American comic book, but after seeing Berserker and Lancer's fight you don't find the idea so appealing anymore. And with King Ozymandias at the stead - they might actually be able to pull off world conquest.

"Precisely." Ozymandias chuckles softly at Saber's incredulous look. "I care not for the Grail, the item steeped in sin, an afterthought in the name of my great conquests. But- I see now why I have been summoned onto this world. To rule over it with a Servant's body, to lead the world - heh. Even I thought that an immortal body was unobtainable, but if it is my fate to rule the world like this I suppose this will suffice."
He raises his hands briskly, saluting the empty night sky.
"So, will any of you join me?" His voice booms from the stern of the boat; his posture that of a modern-day Moses, ready to save his land from ruin. The charisma of a pharaoh-king compels you - but you stay silent.

Caster's the first one to react, bowing her head slightly. "My apologies, but I cannot condone such a thing. To make an army is to make war, and I would not wish that upon this world." She disappears seconds later, vanishing into particles like stardust.
Surprisingly, it's Berserker who says something next, his tone much more subdued than usual. His breath comes out as fog in the cold air as he speaks.
"I SHALL NEVER BOW. MY DEFENSE IS UNRELENTING; AS LONG AS I DRAW BREATH, OPPRESSORS SHALL NOT CONTROL ME."
He crouched, before leaping away back into the shipping containers and out of sight. You let a breath you didn't realize you were holding; rational or not, you can't forget his rampage, his bloodthirsty smile as he fought, and you're happy that he left.

Ozymandias doesn't seem too disappointed that half of his "army" has just disappeared, instead turning to you and Archer. "Will you join me in my crusade, Saber and Archer? Your Masters will be welcomed as well." He pauses. "I suppose I will have to extend that same curtesy to Lancer, as well."

Archer flips his gun back, tapping the barrel to his temple as he thinks it over. "Maybe. I'll need to talk to the Master 'bout that. Working for a pharaoh doesn't seem half bad, to be honest."
You can't see Saber's face from underneath the mask, but you can imagine her frown perfectly in your mind's eye. "I prefer to work on my own terms. Just my Master and I, y'know?" You catch her gaze with a frown, and she amends her statement slightly. "I'll keep it in mind, though."

"Very good. I shall grant you time; this excursion was only to spread the word. In the meantime, I have my own ruling matters to deal with."
With that dismissal, Ozymandias's boat starts floating - your eyes widen at the sight of the impossible movement, at how graceful such a seemingly unwieldy ship can be in the air - and Ozymandias sits down in a chair, servants already appearing with fans ready to fan him. You guess that traveling as a pharaoh has its perks. He's gone in seconds, simply a blip in the distance approaching his pyramid.

...You wonder how the Magus Association will cover that up.

"Man, this really has turned into crap. Summoned for an impromptu Grail War, and that guy's throwing everything off."
Archer sighs, breaking the silence that followed in Ozymandias's wake.
"All I really wanted was to have some fun while I was summoned. Hey, Saber, wanna throw down? I've been itching for a good fight, and I don't suppose you could give it to me." He grins cheerfully, like he hasn't just suggested a fight to the death.

"...Can't say I don't feel the same. Oy, Master, can I?" Saber turns to you, and you're about to answer when-
I found the bad guys. Mommy, what should I do? Jack's voice rings through your head, quietly cheerful.

Jack. You almost forgot about her - and the sniper, for that matter. Good job, Jack. You silently congratulate her as you think.
You keep your gaze forward, ignoring the glint of reflected light from the onlooker as you turn to Saber. Then pause.
As much as you'd like to eliminate another Master, the idea of seeing Saber's full power is also tempting. You haven't seen Saber fight for serious, against a powerful opponent - maybe this would be a good time to see her in action.
Plus, you might learn something about Archer while you're at it.
But this is also a good opportunity to make use of Assassin, and with Saber and Assassin's combined power, you doubt that the other Master will get away. At the very least, you might be able to figure out their identity.

What do you say?
[X] "Saber, use your full power against Archer. I want you to impress me. Show me what you can do." (Ignore the sniper, focus only on Archer.)
[X] "Saber, to me. We have some... pests, to deal with." Assassin, make sure they don't get away. (Focus on the sniper only, let Archer go.)
[X] "Saber, eliminate Archer. I have some other business to take care of." Assassin, eliminate the target on my mark. (Split your attention between the sniper and Archer.)

[X] Tell Jack to disable the sniper if he tries to take a shot at you. If he doesn't, then tell Jack to follow him and figure out as much as possible about him. Pull back with Saber. Though you may be able to win against Archer, Lancer is still there, and all the other servants and, by extension, masters know you're there. There's too much of a risk of interference.
