(Fate Accelerated) Centerpiece Fantasy: Divine Heroes

Deadlines comin' up, so I kinda.. Paraphrased the backstory for now. Having trouble with the Aspects and Stunts too, the Errant Aspect seems kinda weak. Any feedback..? Rushed near the end.

Name: Duine de Iarann
Race: Cognitive Brass Golem/Automata
Bio: Gaelica. An island near the edge of the Mundus Empire's borders at the peak of their expansion, Gaelica is a hub of lesser groups of non-humans of the supernatural and magical type. Redcaps, Goblins, Centaurs, Gnolls, Trolls, Imps.. Fae. All manner of beasts and creatures inhabit the hills, forests, villages, and cities of Gaelica, though less than there had been centuries ago. There's tension between humans and the non-humans, yes, though there haven't been any revolts or wars since the death of Oberon.

Hundreds of years ago, before Garland's expedition, a boy wanted a friend. He was a genius, a genius at maths, at sciences, and at magic. But even after years of study and experementation, he had made no further progress in his goal. Eventually another came to him, promising something that would give life to his life-long golem servant. The boy agreed, delving into his home's darkest dungeons and strongholds to retrieve it.

Gaelica's Artifact. The Heart of Bùidsear de na Sìthichean. Nae, the Fairy Butcher. The Primal Concept of the Rejection of Magic and the Supernatural. Just by directly touching the core at it's base form, the boy lost his prodigous magical powers. But it didn't matter to him, for once he combined it with the strongest of his Golems, he had succeeded. The Golem began to learn, to speak, to feel.

But the secret couldn't be held. Before long, the higher ups of the island learned just what had happened, and how the Heart of Nae had been used. King Oberon, de facto leader of the supernatural factions, denounces the Council of Mages, thinking this had been done in an effort to create a weapon to use against the Fae.

In response, the mages threaten to call in aid from Mundus knowing that the bonds and shackles of the Empire would be preferable to war with the thousands of magical non-humans in their backyard. The boy, guilty for his mistake and oblivious of the consequences creating his friend would incur, offered to engage in diplomacy with the King for the Council. Though his golem offered to assist, the boy knew that bringing the subject of their ire would only make things worse.

After weeks, he returned to the Council and his anxiously waiting iron friend. Or at least, his head did. Finally, the walls that had held back the madness and bloodlust of Nae snapped and crumbled. Nae offered Duine the power for vengence. Duine accpeted. The Council had only tolerated the golem for the services of his friend and creator. They wanted him as a weapon for the growing war between the two forces of Gaelica. He slaughtered them.

The Fae tried hunting the Artifact-Bound golem. The golem counter-hunted them, learned the ways of effienctally killing the magical from the voice in his head. Carving his way through the forces of Fae and the supernatural once more, the Nae posessed Duine stormed the Royal Forest, home of Titania and Oberon. It lasted for days and nights, neither side able to fully exterminate the other. Yet on the third sunrise, Oberon lay bleeding, Titania exhausted. The battle finally ended when a Mundus ship fired on the entire forest, thinking that the Fae had killed the Council.

And for centuries, Duine de Iarann slumbered through the sky.

I don't remember if I mentioned that before, but you can't use the names Titania and Oberon since those are the names of Primal Gods that already exist. Well, more like one Primal God

Dammit!

...

What about uh.. Mab?

Also, I was thinking of switching his Defender stunt for one that works well against multiple enemies, outnumbered, something like worse odds.

All Primal Gods share the same names as various mythological figures, but since I don't have any plans for Mab, you can go for it

Oh, well it' probably for the best that I didn' get in. Good luck to those that made it in and good luck to the GM.

Edit: just thought I'd clarify. This isn't sarcastic.

If you still want to participate, you can still join a bit later in the story. You just won't be one of the aforementioned divine heroes.

That sounds cool. And college is almost out for winter break so, I should be fine to actually join if you'll have me. But, in the end it's up to you.

Ah Christ--I didn't describe his race!

Cognitive Iron Golem/Automata

An Iron Golem is basically a mindless drone built for wars and drawn out battles, and they usually run on coal. Most act like any other golem, that is to say, without a personality, and built for battle instead of simple servile tasks, though that doesn't mean they can't. It's just.. Kind of like trying to use a tank to toast your bread instead of an oven. You can do it, it'd just be a bit more.. Difficult. Iron Golems aren't exactly mass produced because of the amount of material it takes to make one and the lack of industry, but the ones that are made are fairly powerful. They vary in appearance and size because they're, y'know, built individually, but Duine is a seven to eight foot droid, that sort of looks like a clockwork steampunk version of Rogue One's K2-SO. Or Critical Role's Doty, whichever one you know.

How should I handle the 'Anti Magic Always On' narratively and in combat? The stunts only work once per game session.

Also, @Nox, you going to post?

You can use as much Stunts as you can afford, actually. It all depends on how many Fate Points you have. In terms of game mechanics, I think I should simply do either a check or a compel. If the magic used on you is something that has a positive effect, you can either choose to not get affected by it, which will give you a Fate point, or the opposite, which will give you a bonus of some kind. If you get attacked by a magic-based attack, I'll simply give you an easier check.

@Sablonus @Nox, you up?

Mhm. I'll have a post up today. I was kinda waiting for @Nox :V

Unsure, positively affecting magic shouldn't really work on him at all if negatively affecting magic doesn't.

Sorry about the not posting--December Exams are here and they're kicking me in the nuts.

Have a post up soon, hopefully.
