Familiar Quest (Magical Girl, Experimental Hybrid Quest/Roleplay)

You're underselling the flexibility of the other characters here, I think, and I think in this case flexibility probably means some points in support spells (which we don't really need right now as we're on our own), but I should stop harping on that.
I really don't get what flexible means in this context, because with only 40 points there really aren't that many options when it comes to generalizing.

Reasoning being that she seems like a reasonably traditional choice for a leader-ish type. Though it depends if we want this to go into cynical territory or a relatively more upbeat story.
I would like to see a construct caster, since those open up a lot of options and no one's really used them yet, but no one seems to be interested in either of those options
I want it to be an upbeat story, but we'll see how Sketch feels. I like the idea of a construct caster (one of the names really needs changing) but there wasn't enough backstory for me to want to pick her.
I like it how apparently no-one got it right.

The backstory should only really be there to give us an insight into the character's personality and motivation.

The players of the characters can further build on their character's history later on.

I think this is very important to consider; we aren't deciding which character we want Sketch to write as per a normal quest, but rather what sort of heroine protagonist someone will be playing in Sketch's (And our) game.

To be fair it's not us playing them though it's the writer RPing the character they wrote so a bigger backstory is useful to let us know what we're dealing with.
There's also the fact that open_sketchbook asked for a short summary, not a paragraph- different people can have veeeery different definitions of what 'short' means in this context.

Based on the last, I think I'll go for [x] Banhi Om. Also, tank is hopefully less likely to die in the first few missions.
You make a good point there she probably does need it the most. though on the other hand she doesn't sound like she is in any real danger and just needs time. To be honest getting a insta-heal might be a bad thing as it points to the fact that she's a MG and the High Court control everything.

To be honest I would say that Sarah Wilde or Anita Shaw need it the most while Samantha Elaine Cromwell and Lizzy Springfield will probably do the most good with it as they have strong motives to fight the High Court.

Eh, can't see their sheets, so I can't really decide who would be the best to vote for.

Dice, you are up.

EDIT;

[X]Lizzy Springfield

Is the decision.

Let's hope you don't end up like Molly did, Lizzy.
MysteriousOldGuy threw 1 8-faced dice. Reason: 1 Total: 2

The fact that two people have now voted according to dice rolls irritates me a great deal. It suggests that there wasn't enough detail put into each characters back story to convince people.

Given the descriptions of and how I image they fight

[x] Lizzy Springfield - Flexible Gunslinger

seems the most interesting to me.

"Suggests"? I mean no offense but some of those backstories are literally two sentences, that's hardly the voters' fault.

The word "summary" usually implies a summation of the topic, in this case being the background of each character in question. If everything important about your character can be stated in two sentences then frankly your character could use a little more meat on their bones.

Pretty much this. If you can sum up a character in less than three sentences without leaving out important details, ur doin it rong

I would suggest aiming for the Griffin demon. If it's healed, it might become an ally. Then we can hit the soldier demons
That only works if the initial girl is a healer. Essentially we have no idea what we'd need to do to help the Wild Demons whereas we can be sure that the Jewelry store will be a smash and grab attack thing.
You want a Refresh spell character to turn a demon, I think.
The update hints at a the existence of non-combat/investigative ways to win the wild-demon missions as well.
PS: There will be multiple ways to sort out Wild Demons. Refresh is kind of the brute force method of healing, but there will be narrative and skill-based approaches available.

Pretty much what Sketch said.

Wild Demons are as crucial a part of the world's magical infrastructure as anything that the Court controls. Magic wouldn't be able to function without them. Most are the magical equivalent of bacteria, algae, or plankton; as tiny as dust motes whilst being of massive, massive importance to the overall ecosystem. But the ones large enough to be noticeable as individuals have had a very rough time of it over the aeons. They've been hurt by the Court, either directly, or via the magical pollution and famine the Court creates everywhere it touches.

Restoring wildlings to their former selves is basically a process of trying to undo the spiritual injury and abuse they've suffered.

That could be a part of it, sure.

Like, maybe I'm reading too much into the half-sentence about "try[ing] to figure out how to heal them", but the descriptions of the wild demons are provocative. Someone declawed the griffin and sealed its beak. Who? Why? What was its purpose before that?

You were reading exactly the right amount into it :D. And yeah, the descriptions are wonderfully evocative- Sketch took my generator and ran with it better than I could have hoped. I think I might use these demons as examples in the rules.

Big thanks to Admiral Skippy for his help writing the Wild Demon rules.

Well I'm just glad I finally got it mostly-finished in time!

Salty was obviously going to vote for Banhi regardless of the die result, though.

Well, there's 3 other characters capable of gunslinging as well, you know.

Assuming I've tallied the votes correctly, the current totals are:

Amelia - 3
Lizzy - 3
Elena - 5
Sarah - 1
Samantha - 3
Anita - 0
Lyra - 0
Banhi - 1

Heh. I actually meant it the other way (i.e. 'short' meaning 'less than a page').

While I personally would prefer Lyra (construct casters seem very versatile, a very important capability for early on) there haven't been nearly any votes for her so I might as well choose someone who might win.
[X] Samantha Elaine Cromwell - Dedicated Mage
This one has a very interesting backstory and has lots of power to back up her magic. I'm not a huge fan of her being a "dedicated" mage, but even a dedicated mage is probably about as versatile as a flexible fighter- assuming there's a reasonable suite of magic that we have access to.
More importantly, her backstory makes her someone very unique and interesting IMHO.

Construct is an awesome spell now. It costs loads but the AP required is trivial and it gives you a lot of versatility. So I'd fully support having one construct based character in the team. It's just at the moment I'm voting on backstory.

Hmm, we should probably think of the general descriptions as a matter of style. Do people want to see a girl pulling out muskets from the air and blasting demons, do they want to see an MG brawling with a demon in close quarters, or a magical girl standing still and blasting away with beams of magical light.

Because OS is not going to kill us on our first few fights. Probably.
