Familiar Quest (Magical Girl, Experimental Hybrid Quest/Roleplay)

On the subject of resentment, I would hope that everyone whose application is not selected doesn't react with bitterness and storm off or mock others for making a "wrong" choice. Let's all just be adults and enjoy this hybrid game thing instead of turning it into some kind of competition.

Also, in the interests of breaking the deadlock I will change my vote from Amelia to Samantha.

I would hope that no-one acts like that. For one thing this isn't the only round and behavior like that could well get you excluded from trying again. Besides this isn't the only thing that Sketch's run and I don't remember anyone getting to up tight over any of the Cherno votes. So we should be fine.

Hopefully. I can't see any of the people who've posted in the thread who I recognise getting upset over it, but I don't know everyone here.

There aren't too many people involved at the moment so we should be able to keep things reasonably civil and discuss things without it turning to an argument.

[X] Samantha Elaine Cromwell - Dedicated Mage

I was going for Elena, but Samantha's backstory seems like the kind of thing I want to interact with.
Little girl, you aren't crazy.
You were right all along.
I'm so sorry.

Awww. I wanted the first magical girl on our team to be a melee fighter. Well, at least I'm assuming flexible fighter is going to be mostly melee.

-shrug- Oh well.

Oh nice, we actually have a proper consensus now. That's quite a turn around. Now we just have to wait for O_S to wake up and update. I think we need a slightly better system next time because this dragged on longer than it really should have, and it's just stressful for everyone involved. At this point I'm just glad we can move on.

It looks like it will be about 4 in game weeks before we can recruit another character. Less if there are other ways of getting mana, more if we need to spend some. But I doubt we'll need to spend any so 4 weeks or less. Going by the stories Sketch has been writing in the setting it's possible to loot stuff from the High Court's energy drainer things to make Badges so if we do that soon then we should decrease the time required.

Edit:
Wait make that 3 weeks or less. We already have 25 mana...

Just a quick shout out to the people who've made characters. Sketch has done a pretty major overhaul of the rules and of costume parts along with some spell changes. So you'll probably need to check that your character still works and everything.

Not in this thread so I thought I might as well mention it here as well in case people hadn't noticed for whatever reason. *Shrugs* Yes it was probably a wasted post but even so.

Important update. Sketch has done this:
Yes.

Oh, that reminds me.

Super Important Note

From now on, build your characters with 8 points in Skills, 8 in Abilities, and 8 in State. This is ultimately more simple and well-rounded and will sync better with eventual advancement rules. Yes, characters will seem a bit weaker ability-wise; this is okay for now because advancement rules are coming very soon.

Thank you.
So people should probably take it into account.

Isn't that rather restrictive for State? Unless the rule for 'no more than 5 to a stat' has been repealed, it means you have to go either 4/4 or 5/3 on Spirit and Composure.

Initially perhaps, but he said it will ultimately work better with the upcoming character advancement rules.

Alright, I know it's been a while, I've been desperately running around putting out fires inside the system. I'm just contacting the player of our first character and the update will go up!

I probably should have asked this before, but should we be updating characters submitted for the quest to match the changes you've made?

Fair warning to everyone waiting. During the most recent test the system kind of caught fire and exploded into a charred ruin (totally my fault) and now Sketch needs to fix everything. So this is probably going to take a while before it's back to quest running levels of readiness.

Can we have some more details? This sounds really interesting. Was it a ridiculous exploit that gave you an invincible character or something?

A combination of Overdrive Core, Torn Jeans, Big old bow and going over my Eq in power let me throw far too many successes of damage per turn.

Turn 1 I threw 7 then 8 which WHAMMU survived though he took 6 damage (he had 10 Res)
We never go to turn 2 but I would have thrown 77 successes total from 7 attacks. With WHAMMU taking a minimum of 4 damage per attack if he got stupidly lucky.

The rules were stupidly broken and needed fixing. The main fix is that damage is now fixed based on the spell/ attack. The other is that the auto successes will be nerfed.
