I had to write some big random generator files, but there's done now so turns can go full speed.
Since we last checked on our planet, it has made nearly a million passes around its star.
In this time, the planet has only gotten warmer. (
+temperature) The water near the equator rises in a huge belt of steam, and this added water vapour has lead to a minor greenhouse effect. The warm current has grown in intensity and deepened, doing the same for the cold return current, and the land is more inhospitable than ever.
It's been a tough time for our branch of
Cavatibia. They hang on in their small social groups in the shadow of cool water, but they have been displaced from the cliffsides by newer species. This drive out to deeper water has increased their swimming ability, so they now stalk above and around the seabed foilage. They have grown thinner and longer, with fins running from tip to tail.
Let's join one of these newly hatched creatures...
Generation 2, Phase 1
Cavatibia remus
You curl out of your egg and wiggle free, finding yourself in the shadow of a leaf, a cache of eggs caught against the stem.
After flexing your whip-like tail, finding it propelling you rapidly with an easy, rippling motion, you get moving. What does your instincts tell you?
[ ] Stay below the leaves and hunt for small prey or eggs.
[ ] Stay below the leaves, and chew on them a bit to survive.
[ ] Move above the leaves and go hunting.
