The Rev-Mil council once again meets in the riverside town of White Flower to discuss the progress of the revolution. As before, the King and his slaves have yet to finally realize the futility of their struggle, as usual. And so the discussions instead mostly focuses on domestic matters, specifically the rampant literacy among the revolutionaries, the specter of monarchism hanging menacingly above us even in the liberated territories, and the still ongoing famine. The talk of an another military offensive is drowned by the previous topics, however some delegates are able to slips in some discussion of the military into the congress.
Diplomacy:
- On the issue of education. All who can prove themselves to be formally educated shall be exempted from the military and labor, and immediately assigned as teachers. Funds are to be diverted into funding schools and repairing existing ones, at the moment only childrens are to be educated.
- On the issue of internal security. In the interest of protecting the revolution from reactionaries, the People's Committee of Internal Safety is to be formed. They shall provide law enforcement, as as counter intelligence, and hunting down royalist elements in our territory. The Rev-Mil shall organize the bureaucratic process and vets it core members from the militia and the laborers.
- On the issue of food. Following the Stalliongrad example, collectivization efforts are to be undertaken. At the moment it shall be limited in scope as to not disrupt the current food supply chain. Failing farms are to be joined together into communes where they can share resource and labor together, while in the urban area the unemployed are to be encouraged and ferried in to the countryside to provide labor for these new farming communes. To focus on the effort of eradicating the famine, the People's Committee of Provisions shall be formed to help organize the collectivization.
- On the issue of military. Over the year we have accumulated plenty of monarchist prisoners, either captured in battle, or caught from among the populace. At the moment most of them are mostly sent away into camps and sentenced into hard labor. However, the Rev-Mil seeks to rehabilitates them in a different way. Penal units are to be formed from the prisoners under the supervision of commissars from the PCIS. The commissars are to filters out troublemakers still possessing reactionary thoughts in a more permanent way while encouraging all who shows dedication and loyalty to the revolution. Once deemed rehabilitated by the commissars they shall be released back into the public.
Prywhen declares support for Longsword revolutionaries in their gallant effort to destroy reactionaries. The brutality of the Count's government in his genocide of the innocent is highlighted in our propaganda.
Prywhen condemns the rise of Beakolini and the rotten Wingbardian monarchy for their failure to prevent this. All Wingbardian revolutionaries are wholeheartedly welcomed into Prywhen, and promised that one day we shall liberates their homeland once and for all.
Artist of all arts are gathered together to form the People's Committee of Griffonities to provide a focused effort in enriching our emerging socialist culture. They shall produce arts, musics, and books supporting the revolution while countering old reactionary influences.
In secret the PCIS makes contact with the underground black market to look for arms dealers who are willing to provide us with modern weapons.
1. Many of the new teachers are grateful for their new positions and exemptions from fighting, especially as a number of them were found on the frontlines over the summer. Now safe within liberated areas, the first unified lesson plans have been created, while schools, new and old, open their doors. While there is a shortage of building materials both for new construction and repairs to existing buildings, for now the people of Prywhen make do. Children and their parents flock in droves to the new institutions, eager to learn.
2. While there are those that question the need for such an organization in a socialist paradise, the reality of the situation is that there are still those within the republic that do not fully believe in it's cause. The PCIS is quickly established and it's echelons filled with the most experienced griffons that the republic has, and soon enough their members patrol liberated territories as a provision police force, stopping crimes and putting the public at ease with their presence. Their counter-intelligence arm is also equally effective, rooting out a number of hidden royalists within the republic.
3. Collectivization has merely been a concept before the revolutions in Equestria and in Prywhen. While the comrades of Stalliongrad may have failed in their efforts your own officials are not easily discouraged. Under the guidance of the PCP farms that have suffered repeated harvest failures are gathered together under government supervision to share their meager resources together. While the project is just beginning, many are hopeful that this will improve the food yields in the future, especially combined with the amount of potatoes being imported to be planted throughout Prywhen. Some however are critical still, thinking it would have been a wiser decision to begin these efforts during the planting season instead.
4. The new penal units of the Revolutionary Army are made up of both former royalists and criminals caught by the new People's Committee of Internal Safety. While morale is at an all-time low as is expected from conscripts, it seems that in most situations the penal soldiers fear their political commissar more than they do the enemy. Sadly, their first real engagements were not a normal situation. Stationed along the western reaches of Prywhen to train and prepare, far away from the frontlines of the fighting, multiple units suddenly found themselves under attack from multiple directions. While a number of units managed to withdraw in short order to avoid more surprise attacks, those units that were unfortunate enough to lose their commissars quickly broke apart, likely to form bandit groups in the wilderness.
The identity of the attackers along the west are none other than the bandit clans led by the hated Blackrock. It seems that the royalists have promised much to the battle-hardened mountain warriors, as the bandit clans are not merely raiding, pillaging and burning, but they are actually occupying Prywhen lands in many places along the border. While for now, this has not impacted the situation much on the royalist front, but the new western front will desperately need more experienced forces directed to it, lest the liberated territories be ripe for the bandits to pick.
In lighter news however, refugees from Wingbardy have arrived over the summer, either across the southern seas or through the northern trade routes. While they are not exactly soldiers yet, they will be soon, and so long as the famine does not worsen, the revolution in Prywhen will have plenty of griffonpower to spare in coming battles.
Kingdom of Wittenland
Capital: Wittenburgh
Ruler: Queen White Star
Ideology: Non-Aligned
Race: Pony
Faction: River Coalition
Population: 4.79 Million
Army: 2/2
Navy: 0/0
Actions
1) PARTIES: Sometimes, there are no notable parties or events in this legendary party-country. This is one of them. They are still extravagant, luxurious, and expensive as hell, but they are not noteworthy. Except for maybe what occurs behind the scenes.....
2)Recently, a new group of artificers have gained the attention of White Star in her quest for a newer, more modern army. These are advanced practitioners, who instead of focusing on mass production of magic for simple small weaponry, have decided to instead use their knowledge to perform intricate enchantments for a few powerful enchantments. White Star has considered her country's specific needs, and as such has placed her faith in this form of advanced enchanting.
3)This is not the only military-related thing occurring. Right now, the military forces along the Barad border are performing magical exercises near this breakaway state. Perhaps this could be a prelude to war....
4) Arden Hoofler has not been idle after the release of his book. In fact, he has been organizing a new faction in Wittenland. With the support of the newly rising "middle class", putting together the new Organization, called the NNWMM or The New National Wittenland Meritocratic Movement. Taking inspiration from various influence, it's ideology calls for the betterment of Wittenland so that it can once more be strong and mighty. A return to form influenced by new ideas. It has already begun pooling resources into speeches and assisting "worthy peasants held back by the degenerates", though of course, it has taken care to not truly offend the powerful nobility. In fact, there have been mummers of support within certain noble circles...
1. Parties, parties, parties. It seems all that the Wittenland nobility can think of these days. While as mentioned before there are no major events, there are still many privately hosted parties, where wine flows like water and other debauchery and decadence is frightfully common.
2. The art of enchanting is both time consuming and energy intensive on the mage or mages casting the spell. While most ponies would instead use a personal shield spell, the recent advancements in technology have made a number of engineers and artificers have come together to create a prototype of what they have dubbed the "Magic Tank". Using heavy reinforcement enchantments it is believed that with enough time and magic a vehicle could be made basically impervious to damage. While the prototype isn't that great, it is a fantastic testbed for future advancements. The Wittenland Army has also officially contracted the designers to conduct further research on the matter, as part of the newly established Wittenburgh Armor Artificer Group.
3. The exercises along the Barrad border go ahead as planned, and much to the surprise of the organizing officers there were offers from the River Republic Military and a number of bordering Ponaidhean tribes to join the exercises. Seeing little reason not to do so, the offers were accepted and the wargames that followed were lively to say the least. While the River Republic forces clearly held a technological edge in terms of weapons, they had little experienced compared to the others, nor any particularly great officers or mages. Ponaidhean tribal bands proved generally ineffective against both forces in the open, blasted apart most of the time by artillery before they could close to melee range, although compared to the others they particularly excelled in ambush tactics, netting them a few victories aswell. A great sense of friendship has been established between the three militaries, which is sure to be useful in the future.
4. While technically still an absolute monarchy with no political representation, the NNWMM proves to be a highly successful organization, attracting a number of followers from both the peasants and emerging middle classes of the Kingdom's cities. This explosion in popularity has made the NNWMM the sixth largest of such political organizations in the entire Kingdom over just a period of a few months, showing the powerful charismatic abilities of Arden Hoofler. Now regularly invited to participate in political debates, it is expected that the NNWMM's meteoric rise continues in the next season.
Lake City-1007-Summer (12 AR)
Name: Lake City
Form of Government: Democracy
Capital: Jezeragrad
Ruler: Springtime Frost
Ideology: Non-Aligned
Religion: Secular
Race: Pony
Faction: River Coalition
Population: 6.51 Million
National Spirits: No
Armed forces: 3 Armies/3 Maximum : 0 Navies/0 Maximum
Major Actions:
Lifting the poor out of poverty is a goal that must be achieved to pave the way to a stronger and more efficient Lake City. As a start, the government will clean up ponies starving on the street, enabling them to work for food, a shack to live in with 20 other ponies, and a bit of change on the side. For many, this may be the only reliable way to end the day to a half-full stomach. Ponies that perform the best will receive extra money at the end of each week, and may even be promoted into the army if they're deemed to be a good fit.
With the cheap manual labor provided by these workers, the railways may be expanded upon and serve both civilian and military interests - albeit with a slight focus on enabling industrial capabilities. The trains will run.
One must know themselves first in order to operate efficiently. With that in mind, a wave of surveyors will be sent out to survey all of all territories under Lake City's control. Soil samples will be taken, water observed, maps made, and prospectors employed to look for minerals. All the information will then be taken into account, after which the land will be evaluated for suitability for farming, housing, or an assorted variety of industries.
With the example set by many other nations within the river lands alliance, Lake City has also agreed to gradually demilitarize their borders with Wittenland and Deponya. Lake City expects a complete a withdrawal of the military within 6 months, though border police will maintain their presence in the area. Units originally stationed on the border will now mostly go through military exercises, in an effort of locating weakness' and possible solutions.
After Leewald's coup was squashed, the importance of a cooperative military became increasingly obvious. Loyal generals will receive pay raises in the form of land and money, and retiring generals will be given cushy jobs in the government. More... problematic units will be mixed around so as to help in rebalancing portions of the army. (OOC: @Ankh gave me the idea)
Minor Actions:
With the conclusion of the coup, officers in the army who aided the monarchists, General Wild Tree in particular, will stand trial before the State Tribunal for treason.
The lack of education and the alarmingly low literacy rates for much of the population of Lake City is a very obvious problem. Though Lake City doesn't have the resources available to divert to education as of yet, preliminary testing of a new schooling system has begun, with a large focus placed on reading, writing, arithmetic, and copying successful pieces of education systems from as many other sources as possible.
1. The gathering of the unemployed to construct public works is a sensible idea for the government, as there isn't exactly a shortage of those willing to work for food. By the end of summer a number of new railway lines now dot the countryside, eagerly built by enthusiastic workers, thanks to the great incentives of food, shelter and money for the hardest working ponies. While the money in the long term isn't enough to support themselves completely, it is at the very least a step in the right direction for the government to take in it's efforts to combat poverty.
2. Being generally flat grasslands and floodplains, it isn't surprising to see that a lot of land is both good for agriculture but also industrial construction, especially along the rivers of the nation, thanks to a abundant supply of coal found in the southern reaches near the Gryphian border. Aside from that however prospectors have only been able to locate a few untapped iron ore veins and a large deposit of bauxite in the eastern regions, which could be used to create aluminum within the right foundries. While some may feel that the effort was a waste in the end, to many it is another way of bringing the people of the nation together.
3. As the summer draws to a close about half of the troops stationed at internal Coalition checkpoints has been redeployed elsewhere, right on schedule, and by winter the relocation to fortifications along the borders with the Holy Orders to the west and the Gryphians to the south will be completed. Exercises and war games conducted by the Lake City Army shows that whole the army is expertly led and well equipped when compared to their neighbors, it is not trained at fighting outside terrain it is comfortable with, and to an extent the Cossack tactics of the Gryphian Host is hard for a non-motorized army to respond to. The raiders simply fly in, grab what they can and burn what they can't take, and then they leave again before any sort of military force can be mobilized to respond against them.
4. After such an unprecedented event such as the coup attempt, it is not a surprise to most that the government would seek to reign the army in somewhat. The exact deal forged between the military and the rest of the government is not known to the public, although one can speculate. Either way after extensive negotiations it seems that both sides had reached agreement, with the army moving to distance itself from political matters and the government in turn not further rocking the boat, so to speak. While not all were satisfied, as is often the case with a compromise, those that did disagree suddenly found their loyal units shifted to an entirely different posting for an undetermined amount of time.
In other news, after a short trial before the State Tribunal, the Lake City military court, former General Wild Tree, his high-ranking supporters and the commanding officers of the units involved with the coup were all sentenced to death by firing squad. The rest of their men will merely enjoy lifetime sentences for their heinous actions. When marched out into the courtyard for his sentencing, Wild Tree refused a blind fold, preferring it seems to meet death face to face. His attempts to interrupt the execution by spouting about his reasons for conducting the coup led to him being muzzled until the sentence was carried out. The body are to be buried in a secluded part of the Jezeragrad Military Cemetery at the request of Wild Tree's extended family.
As for the government's education preparations, good foundations have been laid that will be perfectly suitable for a new educational system, once the nation's resources are once again free to be spent. Analysts are optimistic about the improvements that can be made to the national literacy rates once the project begins in earnest.
Summer of 1007 ALB
Name: Diamond Mountain
Capital: Diamond Mountain
Ruler: King Rover Diamondshield
Ideology: Fascist
Race: Diamond Dog
Faction: River Coalition
Population: 3.82 Million
2 Armies/2 Maximum
King Rover had begun to patch the metaphorical holes in his country and was getting ready for sleep when his thoughts turned to his daughter, she who unbeknownst to him had help found and lead a an entire political faction from under his snout. He had to admit she had done well, but the things the movement wants to happen, they will undermine generations of work that the Diamond Dogs have done. Normally Rover would just destroy the movement and only take the things that might be of value from their philosophy, but this was what his daughter had made, and any good parent wants their child to succeed. Thoughts of what to do about the situation buzzed around in his mind, he could not get rid of his daughter for several reasons and the Diamond Dogs hold no magic to fix the issue like the Pony. And with that thought a idea came to mind, an idea that would require some time and planning but an idea that could spell greatness for Diamond Mountain
Four Actions:
1. focus on making industrialization more prominent in Diamond Mountain
2. ask Princess Molly to help oversee the continued efforts of creating a public education system ( But make sure she does not try to undermine the current Government with the subjects the pups will be taught)
3. Begin making plans to reclaim the lost treasures held by the contemptable Knightly Order of Hellquill
4. begin the process of making more guns and cannons for the military for the coming war
1. Workshops and craftsdogs have existed for as long as the Diamond Dogs have remembered, a true factory has not been seen until today. Constructing it deep underground both to provide easy access to it's workers and to protect it from outside attack, this first factory turns out to be a tremendous success for the Mountainhome, and is sure to only be the first of many. Using it to manufacture building supplies from the ores and materials mined deep within the earth beneath the Mountain, it is expected by many to see hundreds of smoke stacks sticking out of the rock of Diamond Mountain by this time next year if the kingdom's efforts continue to remain focused upon industrialization.
2. Molly promises to both be a dutiful daughter and capable administrator for the school system, it remains to be seen if she will try to undermine her father in the future. For now however the first school in the Mountainhome has opened it's doors for the first time, accepting the sons and daughters of the nobility to begin with, although Princess Molly hopes to eventually include all Diamond Dogs within her halls of learning. The school subjects are all as expected, made to prepare the young pups for their future as overseers, engineers, scientists and soldiers, all the needed ingredients for a successful nation state. Molly's current project seems to be an effort to make optional classes available for adult Diamond Dogs, to combat the illiteracy problem within the Mountainhome.
3. The military leaders plot and plan over the summer months, the results are sadly not what King Rover expected. While the Diamond Dogs are excellent diggers and will be able to besiege Hellquill fortresses much easier than others, when out in the open they are all but defenseless to the flying might of the Imperial Knights, who may simply swoop down at will to cut down Diamond Dog soldiers. This will pose a serious problem for supply convoys, as it would be far too expensive and time-consuming to dig tunnels all the way to the cities of the hated Knightly Order. There have also been rumors of the Knights conducting research into other ways of neutralizing the greatest strength of the Diamond Dogs, that of digging, via some form of magic. It alone is a frightening thought.
4. While the military leaders discuss and debate their options, the workshops of the Mountainhome are hard at work making the needed tools for war. Cannon forges run day and night while rifle artisans employ three times as many apprentices as usual to meet all the demands of the various contracts handed out by the government. It is during this period of rearmament that the new Diamond Dog engineers make a particular discovery within the mountain. Magical crystals can be used as a power source, and one engineer had the idea of mounting that crystal to a suit of armor. With a exoskeleton installed, the armor can be made much thicker and heavier than what normally a Diamond Dog alone could carry. This new "Iron Dog" armor has been presented as a viable new weapon within the King's arsenal, although for it remains only a prototype, and much funding and resources must likely be spent to make a version that can strike a balance between power and production costs...

Republic unveils Twin Initiatives for the Coalition
Republic unveils Twin Initiatives for the Coalition
The River Republic has always been the greatest proponent of greater cooperation and integration between the member states of the River Coalition, feeling that together they can all be much stronger than any single state on Griffonia. While recent talks between the states have been stymied by the chaos of the Imperial Collapse in 979, the current President of the River Republic, River Swirl, announced the creation of the River Science Society, which would allow all member states within the Coalition to more easily share scientific knowledge, data and advancements with the others. In addition, the River Games were unveiled, patterned off the Equestrian Games in the far west, each member state is to send a team of athletes to represent their nations within a annual sporting competition. Received to much fanfare in many of the member states, it remains to be seen however if these two new initiatives will help bind the Coalition member states closer together, as no doubt River Swirl hopes.
Equestrian expeditions in the Riverlands
To the surprise of many both within and outside the Riverlands, a pair of fleets were sighted off the coast of Nimbusia by the end of the summer, one flying the flag of the Changeling Lands, and the other of the land of Equestria. Both it seems were this far east for trade and exploration's sake, and after a few hasty agreements were signed, the River Trading Company was established to facilitate further trading opportunities between the two giants to the west and the River Coalition. Of course, once both flotillas discovered the other was there, a tense stand-off occurred until cooler heads prevailed and both fleets withdrew in short order. The two fleets would not meet again until both arrived at the island of Greneclyf, seeking to meet with the Griffonian Changelings. While these "pacifist" Changelings were happy to sign treaties declaring friendship with both groups of diplomats, and to further deep trade between them, their current Queen, Gytha, adamantly refused to sign any formal alliances. The meetings otherwise went well, and both fleets left once more in good order.
Ship vanished in the Mysterious North

Picture of the CLN Z-43, taken shortly before it's disappearance
As is often the case, another vessel has been lost in the Sea of Corpses. This time however it was far more than a simple fishing trawler or icebreaker ship, but rather the Changeling Z-43, a destroyer serving with the Changeling Lands Navy under Admiral Lysander's expeditionary fleet. Likely sent to chart the coasts of the Dead Peninsula, the vessel was engulfed in a fog as it passed into the Sea of Corpses, and has not been seen again for a week, despite extensive searches conducted by the expedition. For now, it seems that Admiral Lysander has given up, as his fleet sets sail for home before the fall arrives. One can wonder as to the fate of the vessel or it's 323 crew members, but the most likely scenario is that the strong storm of the Sea of Corpses dashed the vessel onto the rocky shores of the Dead Peninsula, where the crew would then either starve to death or succumb to the elements. While there has been no official communique regarding the matter by the Changeling government, the family and friends of the crew are likely already mourning their loss.
