I can see why since the story does not appear to have any problems from a reader's perspective. However, on my end, new ideas arose which I found to be better than the original ideas, but it also presented new challenges. I mentioned this in the Updates and Plans threadmark, but I think it requires more explanation. Normally, when I get an idea, I go right into writing it and make plans as I go which was not optimal whatsoever. I did, at least, have a general outline of major story beats, but not the moment-to-moment stuff.
This finally came to ahead during chapter five when I struggled balancing between Theresa keeping an eye on Kiana, Kiana keeping an eye on Bronya, and Mei being suspicious of something going on with Kiana as I rewrote my notes and outlines to accommodate . I found my motivation being drained because of that and because unfortunately my brain doesn't like the fact that no progress is being made so it starts wandering to other ideas. The same thing has happened a few times, such as my last fan-fic Gate: Frontline, and it's only recently that I realized this approach was not good. Add to this me not properly knowing important lore bits, such as Kiana somehow losing her memories before enrolling to St. Freya High, and I believe this story needs a rewrite, if only to create a more engaging story for readers and for my own self-confidence. I hope my reasoning is satisfactory and any additional comments or feedback is appreciated.
I mean... it was a while before then, but yes? She would have known who was attacking her in her head if she did remember.
Err... or that probably wouldn't have happened in the first place because that manifested from her repressing everything. Or it didn't manifest immediately in early K423 so she formed before it woke up.
Or something.

I'm not quite sure of the point you're trying to get through? It looks like the point is informing me of why Kiana lost her memories, but the post kinda gets muddled from my point of view.
Welcome to my thought process.
But yes, I was just kind of meaning to point out her memories were already lost way back when Sieg recovered her. Or she was starting to repress them. Partially its muddled because we don't know exactly when or how that happened, just that something to that effect did.

Ah, yes, thoughts are lovely things aren't they? Anyways, thanks for clearing that up. I'll take it into consideration while looking through that section of the lore to come to a better conclusion.

From my reading manga on official website, k423 is sirin that somehow repress her memories, then retrived by sigurd with AE help. Somehow berserk and lost memories of that event, wake up alone and travel to search sigurd. Somehow enrolled at Chiba academy and the rest is history.
If you think about it she have shonen protagonist background and personality.

Happy new year, folks. We survived 2020 and no additional days, weeks, or months were added after the 31st just to keep us in 2020. Hopefully 2021 is where things get better. But anyways, I said I would have something ready for January and while it isn't anything new story-wise, I do have a few behind-the-scene updates to go through.
First is that I found a new outline method that works for me which is a flowchart program. It helps me visualize how each plot point connects and keep better track of subplots and I'm currently in the beginning stages of reworking the general outline using this new method. It'll still be a while before the general outline is completed and I move on to the moment to moment stuff, especially since there's some real life stuff going on.
Second is that I found that chapters one, two, and four don't need as serious as a rewrite as I originally thought. Only a handful of scenes could be improved or expanded and I'll be adding additional interludes to help better connect things such as the SI's whole power thing since I feel it kinda came out of nowhere when Kiana needed it the most. Chapter three and five will undergo a more serious rewrite, however, as that's where I believe the issues come more into play. Granted, this is subject to change as I'm still playing with some ideas that I think will add a little bit more believable tension or keep characters more inline with their in-game counterparts.
Finally is a life update. I've recently snagged a interview for a job I'm hoping to get and college is going to start back up within a couple of weeks so I'm not sure when I'll have the first chapter ready for uploading. So I'll be dropping the non-serious story I was planning in favor of dedicating the time allocated for that story to 'Ending this Wretched Story' which will hopefully speed things up.
And that's all. I'll post any updates incase something happens, however, but hopefully things will be stable and I can get the story out before this year comes to an end. Anyways, hope y'all are safe and healthy.

Are you perhaps continuing this story? I'm just wondering since I know your not using your fanfiction account and I don't see this story on your AO3 or archive of our own account. This story seems interesting and I'm wondering since I have not seen a lot of Honkai Impact self insert stories.
