It was mathed out either upthread or in the discord, I don't remember which, that at our current army size hiring additional meroi would give a better return than restoring the auxilla.
Actually, it's one to one when you have eighteen meros Phoenix and I mapped it out and the more meros we have the more that ratio slides in favor of the auxiliary. And we currently have eighteen meros plus this shores up our weaknesses and gives us more troops to all our units instantly unlike with raising more meros.

This shit is why I'm always careful of quests that lean on dice. Christ alive.

We don't need stronger meros though, we need more meros. We're spread thin.

We need to be able to hold what we have and currently the best way to do that is by increasing the utility we get out of our fortifications plus we don't have the money to raise the two extra meros we'd get from the auxiliary income and we need more units now.

[X] Proto plan
- [X] To Jerusalem, the Prefect is outnumbered soundly and a loss their would mean the fall of Oriens. Again. Pelusium is a sturdy fortress manned by nearly two thirds the number of its besiegers, it will hold for enough time to allow you to fight the Caliph first.
- [X] Hadrian, one of the five good emperors, the mastermind behind Hadrian's wall -one of the largest limes in the Empire and a great administrator and orator managing to establish an era of peace and prosperity.
- [X] [Imperator Focus] (Cost 14,000 Upkeep 7,000) The Empire has recovered to an extent, new meros can be raised in certain regions once more but where do you raise the army?
-- [X] Aegyptus x2
- [X] [Imperator Focus] (Cost 18,000, Upkeep 18,000) Due to the economic and manpower crisis after the Arab invasion most auxiliaries were disbanded and contracts were ended with the Imperial coffers so heavily reduced, unfortunately it included most of our archers. Though the heavy infantry can double as archers in most situations and horse archers are present in decent numbers throughout the empire it would be wise to restore the vital auxilia to the meros of the Empire.
- [X] (Cost 4,000, -2,000 for one turn) Start the repairs in the province of Dalmatia, maybe we can restart the mining industry in the province.
- [X] (Cost 10,000, -5,000 for two turns) Start the repairs in the province of Asiana, a former hub of silk production and manufactories were turned to ruins due to occupation and looting.
- [X] Spend your time managing focusing on managing the Empire. (Gives a second Imperator Focus)

Jeez, Rome doesn't get a fucking break does it?
Rome is the world's bicycle in terms of invasions.

Where the fuck did the Arabs get these armies anyways? Didn't we fucking destroy them and burn Mecca?
Did they pull them out of their ass?

They rolled a third order crit on looting and burning Oriens the richest region in the world and then used that money to hire all of the former Sassanid soldiers and a bunch of mercenaries.

So basically they sacrificed everything that would make them Arab to win? I mean Those Sassanids and mercs are probably going to demand a lot more later. Surely anyways.

The Caliph has an army large enough to match the mercs at least so they shouldn't cause too many problems if he wins plus he has legendary stats and it's not like the Arabs didn't have the majority of their subjects as non-Arabs and non-Muslims IRL anyways.

I guess that true, i was just hoping that we caused them a future problem if their rolls keep fucking us to game over.

Hold! Fucking HOLD! Hmm, I swear we did this before... At least the West is quite and the Franks haven't pushed into Italy...Yet.

Is anyone else nervous about leaving an incompetent general even with a number, quality and fortification advantage to fight against one of the god like Muslim generals?
