Can I ask where did you get that map
Ah generalists not specialists. Not necessarily better in intrigue as... Well, they infiltrated the other brotherhoods, so their information base is much broader, but their advice on non-spywork aspects/issues is/can be lacking due to that specialization.
Ah, slight misconception there mate. No one has what one would consider an air force. Not since the braking of Magic in ancient history has anyone managed to field effective flying units. You'll learn more on that as the quest progresses.
General population lifespan is 60-70 years (human).
Your bloodline goes 80-90. As in RL Females tend to live longer.
But, and this is important. This is Dynasty quest.
Do not expect any character to rule for more than two or 3 setup turns. And you wouldn't want them to anyway. Younger generations mean purer blood, meaning more goodies out of The Spark.
Heh, well, not exactly how Spark works. To reap all of it's benefits you would have to be a god. And then there is the issue your ancestors ran into. It is functionally impossible to reach 100% blood purity because at a certain point you would hit a plateau, where every potential spouse has too small blood purity to contribute.Ahah. So the character we're starting right now wouldn't be around at the start of the turns proper, good to know. I hereby suggest that whichever plan ends up winning, we name all of our character with A starting names.
Also, it does comfort me in the idea of grabbing all of the Spark.
Made it with basic Inkarnate. Since I'm going premium, I can promise future maps will be better.
1. They will not start loyal to you is all I can say.Ah generalists not specialists.
@yannoshka
1. Will the brotherhoods we don't pick start gunning for our heads?
2. Why did the kingdom break down in the end? Run of bad kings, over expansion, aggression, inability to deal with local tensions?
3. Who specifically are the rebels?
4. How common are mages in this world?
5. What can magic do?
6. Is there a pantheon of Gods?
7. What are Gods and what can they do? (spark obviously, but others? More direct blessings?)
They do have wings, they are just not flight worthy, especially with riders.Oh sorry, thought that sable knight gave us drake with wings, i have misanderstood ?
So how many years does a turn have ?
4-5. True mages are gone and have been for a long time. In d'n'd terms, what is left cannot go beyond 2nd level/circle, and even those are once in a century kinda people. Most are stuck at cantrip levels. The Spark makes you the equivalent to mages of old. Get blood purity above 50% and you would be a match for Magelords of old, and they (in large groups pooling their powers) could throw down with gods.
They do have wings, they are just not flight worthy, especially with riders.
AHHHH JOFFREY!2. Mostly bad rulers. Your cousins' ancestors tried going the incest route to improving blood purity which introduced a streak of insanity a mile wide. That and they overspecialized their Spark into War and personal charisma, completely ignoring the big picture. Imagine a dynasty consisting in direct line of Ivan the Terrible, Caligula, Erzsebet Bathory, etc
mmm.3. Everyone with even a speck of importance in the empire - more or less. The previous generation in power left a REALY bad taste in everyone's mouths. The kind of hatred that is part of national identity centuries later. And, your first PC sealed the vaults holding a treasury of entire continents and generations worth of shiny. Do the maths.
There are ways to work around this, but the first priority will have to be to establish a kingdom that functions and then reassert the idea that our dynasty isn't ****ing mental.
Old blood is not something unique to your family. What it means for you is

I looked at the map, and picked Sheya because it looked the most distance from Gurni island. I am hoping that when we depart Sheya and travel south, the people left in Sheya will not realise we then traveled east and then north.Btw, just for my personal curiosity, have you blindly picked where to come from, or did any of you consult the map?
You can certainly tryI looked at the map, and picked Sheya because it looked the most distance from Gurni island. I am hoping that when we depart Sheya and travel south, the people left in Sheya will not realise we then traveled east and then north.
The plan Birds and Boats is aimed at minimising discovery and making a very defensive base.
Also with the Royal Aviary, I am hoping we can tame a large bird or birdlike creature that we encounter (and one that can fly) so we have flying archers. Is that possible?
That's really goodMade it with basic Inkarnate. Since I'm going premium, I can promise future maps will be better
Well spotted, was waiting for someone to notice them!So @yannoshka what does the Brotherhood of Talon give us? I mean they are the Royal Assassins and the only voting option written in invisible text so I'm curious what do they bring to the table.
Non-canon but good enough.Omake
A serment on blood.
Tears of rage and despair run down the cheeks of the empress as she see the palace of her family burn. This palace was build by her ancestor Turgud Tasakar, and expand by generations of their dynasty. This place saw the greats moments of the dynasty, mighty emperors and empress took place on his throne, treaties who forged the nation, serments made by knights to protect the empire.
Oh, the story of this palace wasn't always shiny and glorious. Terrible conspiracies, murders, horribles actes of cruelty and fights took place here. And from a certain perspective she understood the priests and the rebels who said that this palace was the symbol of the decadence of her family.
But how could she it like this ? This place where she was born? Where she played and hided when she was a little girl ? Where she had her first kiss and first love ? Where she had her family and her friends?
How could she ?
After a last look at her home and her stolen land she turned to her last peoples remaining loyal. She saw their despairs and their doubts. So she took her knife and cut the palm of her hand.
-I swear on the blood of my dynasty, in front of you, my land and the gods that one day we will return take what is ours ! One day ! The empire will be back in our right hands. I made this serment on m'y blood ! And all m'y descendants will swear the oath until we return!
@yannoshka it is good enough to have the bonus?
Non-canon but good enough.
Turgud was not the one who built the empire, that was Talasin. Well, not even him, but he started the process. The first Tasakar emperor was, in fact, an empress. One Aseryah Tasakar. Ole' Talasin's great-granddaughter. The generations preceding her up to Tal were more first amongst equals, leaders of alliances, kind of deal. Turgud did have a 'palace' though. Well, a big sturdy fortress. Gudi was not what one might call, much given to aesthetics.
And, your Starting character is more in the lines of 'poor country cousin'. A side branch of the family. That is why you start with low blood purity.
indeed so. I even updated the intro page.So... each plan get another choice on the "choose seven" section?
Yep. But @Kalrotix beat you to the punch.
