Ebon of Another World - Black Kingdom Spin-Off Quest [Worm/Original]

can we outright drains souls of those we kill? really want to start killing people in worm setting for once.

I feel like Heart of Ebon is our most important skill to rank for more power. Then The soul taker skill.

Also, I'll probably come off as a heretic for saying this, but Worm isn't really a setting I'm too familiar with. Aside from the fact that it's a web original superhero book with an archive depth I really don't have time to dive into, can a kind soul explain the basics to me?

its a world full of giant sized worms who drive into the brains of trauma victims to give them a brain tumour and puppet around their bodies to explore the world usually through violence. ?

A golden man called scion appeared over the sea and it heralded the beginning of the age of parahumans and the golden age of heroes. This was brought to an end by the first of the Endbringers, city killing things that appear on a three monthly rotation. Powers come from scion and it dead mate, worm like things that exist across multiple planes of existence and seed worlds with powers, sue them as a test bed, blow everything up and drain all the energy, spawning new entities, and leaving. One of the pair crashed, and accidentally gave out a power that was used to kill it, called path to victory, before crippling the power in its final moments so it cant be used on scion. The person who got this power and and a number of other people made an orignsation dedicated to stopping the other entity, using parts form the dead one to give people powers. Normally powers go to people who will use them for conflict and appear after a mind breaking horrible situation called a trigger event.

o_o Oh dear. Not a happy setting, I see.

Well, let's see how the Jacob clone does here.

Better draining could also allow us actual interaction with parahuman's powers, and that's something I am really curious about.

OK i took a look at the character sheet and abilities and tried to do a breakdown for what would be useful. If anybody disagrees with what i have please tell me so.

Why have we not had our shadows drain someone quietly anyway?

Combat Mastery - Rank 4 0/3200
-Makes us better at combat, upgrades martial? Kind of expensive right now, but useful a bit later on.

Heart of Ebon - Rank 2 0/800 EP
-Upgrades our natural EP generation rate. Slow resource generation, but we don't get any attention from said resource generation. Very important to get for the long term.

Soul Taker - Rank 2 0/800 EP
-Resource harvesting, currently primary source. Will need to upgrade to drain things other than life force. Will likely need more than one or two upgrades to even try to drain a parahuman's shard. Upgrades also seem to improve minion's draining abilities. Likely to gain attention if overused considering we seem to kill anybody we drain right now.

Ebon Champion - Rank 1 0/800 EP
-Upgrades our brute rating. Considering we can toss a couple of tons around unless we try to fight Glory Girl, Lung, etc in a fist fight this seems to be a lower priority at the moment.

Ebon Conversion - Rank 1 0/800 EP
-Do bullshit with ebon power. Needs upgrades to make ebon steel. Can make simple mundane substances. Upgrades could allow us to duplicate complex, exotic, or Tinker materials? Doesn't seem to be too pressing at the moment.

Black Arsenal - Rank 2 0/1600 EP
-Gets us our guns. " At this rank, you are able to create any weapon with little cost. They will function just like their mundane counterparts"-shibosho. Upgrades could get us to copy Tinkertech weapons? Governs ability to copy items in conjunction with Ebon conversion? Needs upgrades to make guns explode when we are done with them like Jacob Prime does? Doesn't seem to be too pressing at the moment.

The Life maker (Locked) (0/800 EP To Unlock)
-Makes minions? Gateway to making shadows, golems, invisible seekers, and possibly ebon infused creatures. Creatures draining abilities subject to our own Soul Taker ability. While not an immediate dire need, we are suffering from a definite manpower shortage.

Dark Flyer (Locked) (0/400 EP To Unlock)
-Lets us fly. Probably not to high of a fly speed to start out. Could be nice, but not an immediate concern.

Ebon Spellcrafting (Locked) (0/400 EP To Unlock)
-Tree needed for Healing, Glamour, and Mind magics. We should probably start on this fairly soon.

Hidden Ebon Ninja (Locked) (0/400 EP To Unlock)
-At the very least we can have bunshin and the replacement technique. Those are actually pretty useful in a fight. Brockton Bay will one day know The Log protects us.

for me the ideal plan would be to locate all the nearby prisons within a days drive of BB and go sneak in the dead of night knock out the guards, disable the security and then proceed to kill off every prisoner, while draining everything from them, inside that is guilty before removing the memories from the innocent.

That... would bring way too much attention down on us. Sneak in to a prison and do some draining, sure. But to leave a kill count like that? Bad Idea.

how would they know it was us hmmm?

Given enough resources they will find us. We may be a blank spot for some Thinkers (unconfirmed), but good old deduction can get them on our case. Or someone like Tattletale could link things up pretty fast, given we are new to the scene we will be a person of interest.

Also as Chocolate 12 said leaving them alive is more sustainable in the long run. More power in the long run anyway, especially if we keep it pretty low key. Though if we go after prisons we can get energy from people who are forced to be in the same place, who we don't have a problem with draining, and who other people won't care about so long as we keep it from being obvious. The prisoners are a little more tired than normal? The guards ain't gonna question it unless they have to.

I also get the feeling this setting is a bit more paranoid about supernatural incidents, and Noir still doesn't have his bearings just yet. Might be best to get the lay of the land first before we consider options.

[X] Plan Ebon
[X] Ebon Noir
-[X] Troubleshooter
[X] Bank EP points for now
[X] Go find a local prison(to get the location), then head to a pawn shop and sell a gold necklace to buy some food for today, then head to the library and keep studying up on this world

We were told that we could but they would beg Scion for help and he would come and kill us.
What about Eden/Cauldron shards, they seem to be mostly brain-dead, and give out powers strong enough to fully drain themselves of their energy if overused (e.g. Doormaker ) and don't passively recharge that energy.
