Um, you people wanting to drain thugs do know that most of the time spent will be walking around right? It is going to be the middle of the day, unless we practically walk into a drug den we probably won't get very many.

Yeah, making homeless people disappear is also likely to get connected with us unless we get a new costume. People at the very least will remember the rich idiot (us) and be suspicious. Daylight means lots of people around who can see us.

C'mon, the drain option doesn't go far enough. We're seriously overpowered for a lot of this setting.

... After realizing my mistake with EP per person in the previous post, I decided to check how many people do we need to get more than the boring plan would.
From observation, People have an average capacity of 500 LE (Life Energy), a 10 MP (Magic Power), and 200 combined PE and NE (positive and negative emotional energy).

Life Energy exact nature is difficult to describe. It seems to be something of a spiritual fuel that runs the body and mind. At a low level of draining, symptoms of exhaustion appear. At a medium level of draining, physical impairment and degradation start occurring. At a high level of draining, symptoms of extreme ageing appear on the body. Full draining causes the target to crumble to dust.

Magic Power is used for magic. You don't actually know much about it but it seems to react to belief and mental concentration. Possibly self-hypnosis as well. Not enough knowledge. No visible effects of draining on a normal person. A normal person normally has a small pool of magic power. Magic power regenerates very slowly in normal humans.

Emotional Energy exists in an emotional balance. Moods are dependent on whether there is more positive or negative energy. Draining a person completely of emotional energy results in an inability to feel emotions. Emotional energy regenerates at a steady pace. The normal amount of Positive and Negative Emotional energy is required to feel intense emotions.

10 Life Energy = 1 Ebon Power

1 Magic Power = 1 Ebon Power

2 Emotional Energy = 1 Ebon Power

Ebon Shadows can only hold about 50 points of any energy.
8 is the number of people we need. Thugs we can meet stalk in groups of (I am assuming) 2-3. We could run into a bigger group, but that runs into a problem of meeting a villain or law enforcement. Even so... 2 groups of 2 and 3, plus 3 homeless people, and we'll be set for now, leaving smaller but safer income from Shadows.

Messing with villains will draw a lot of attention. A thug or a hobo disappearing? Whatever. Bob the Smasher no longer showing up at robberies? Something's not right.

Despite all that I still vote for the flashier option- I want to see some action, and we are overpowered enough to fight off pretty much any single hero, and run from the rest.

... Also a question: how smart are Denizens? For example, can they differentiate armed gangsters from civilians or a homeless person?

Head's up on the matter conversion plan. While doable, it will leave Jacob extremely bored and twitchy afterwards, meaning as soon as he's done, he'll be liable to head out and do something stupid or exciting or both.

Oh and draining in the daytime is a mixed bag. There will be rewards and risks involved but Jacob isn't an idiot. He'll work something out.

[X] Have your shadows farm a merchant hideout, drain their free energy when their all passed out from drugs and then leave them to recover.
 
[X] Carry on looking at news about the powers of villains of major gangs in Brockton bay at the library. Also, look into the minor gangs, they may be small but that doesn't make them any less dangerous, after all, you yourself like being pretty unknown.

Which Is why you spend time looking for them. We have ninja training and minions made of shadows. It shouldn't be that difficult.
Our minions will be more inconspicuous at night, also, we have a template for dedicated spy minions, we just don't have the power to make them yet and I would prefer to wait until we do.
