Earth Glowing Green: A Tiberium Wars - XCOM Crossover

[X]Region: Siberia

Psionics are always interesting to me, the Templars are neat. I wouldn't mind if Iberia wins, but Siberia has my vote.

Omake Policy
Glad voting has been active and welcome to everyone voting!

First Order of business: Omake policy. In short, I shall be stealing the policy from Mouli that was used in SWG. I will list some prompts for things I want to see yall write omakes about and dole out a reward based on quality and canonicity.

Example: Prompt would be "I want to see the reality of some ADVENT human scientists eating dinner together and how much they do or do not love ADVENT burgers plus conversation." Reward: You might get intel on a Scientist VIP mission to extract/kill, a resistance cell will find a shipment of food that they intercept, or something else I come up with.

To me, it feels much better than the simple giving omake for roll bonuses. Anyway, here are the current prompts I have as of now

1. Collaboration. You are one of the lucky few who lives in the core of an ADVENT city. Far from Tiberium, poverty, or the violence outside the city. You work for ADVENT in some small capacity, nothing major, but it puts food on the table for you and your family. You have time for leisure, and money to spend frivolously. You live a happy, stable life. (The intended focus of this prompt is to detail why at least one person on the planet would earnestly collaborate and work for ADVENT.)

2. Propoganda. There is a massive market for media in this day and age. With the global information network constructed by ADVENT, even the poorest human on the fringes of society has access shows, movies, music, podcasts and more. And with the 10th Anniversary of the formation of ADVENT and the beginning of human-alien cooperation, opportunities abound! (This option would focus on a short elevator pitch or proposal for a piece of audio-visual media detailing everything ADVENT has accomplished over the decade or how it came to be. Can be as honest or as deceitful in coverage as is desired. For either side.)

3. ADVENT. This one is much more casual. Put simply, why is ADVENT capitalized? Come up with some acronym or explanation as to why. Or link me some part of the wiki I missed.

quick questions
are we using an EVA unit?

and when Kane inevitably returns is he going to bring CABAL?

The X-files : How The War Was Lost.

A controversial television and online series, this series of documentaries has been criticized for it's factual accuracy, willingness to consider conspiracies and general fearmongering. It carries a Class 2 content warning on Advent Information control systems, the highest rating for series still available for general consumptions. Despite, or perhaps, due to it's controversy, it has spread widely among secundary and informal circuits in the boundary and outlying areas of most ADVENT cities.

Episode 1 : The Beginning

This episode starts at the beginning. A mysterious green crystal has landed in the river Tiber, about to change human civilization forever. Leaving behind that familiar story, the episode asks one question? Where was XCOM? Though many people assume that XCOM was created to fight the Ethereal threat, XCOM was actually founded as a top secret think tank decades before the first evidence of alien live came crashing down in Rome. Using classified documents and eye-witness testimony, the episode tells us how XCOM was sidelined from the Tiberium investigation by financial interest, and then deliberately defunded to make a stronger case for the more interventionist, global defense initiative.

Episode 2 : The Spread
The second episode covers the prelude to the First Tiberium War, and how a think tank like XCOM turned into the military organization it was during the Ethereal invasion. We follow GDI's and Nod's burgeoning commando programs, a set of stories containing far more myth and legend than hard facts. As the influence of elite forces within both organizations grows, the episode looks at them in their darkest moments. It shows how GDI commandos were essential in overthrowing Nods sympathetic governments in Eastern Europe, and how Nod organisations engaged in a number of targeted strikes against civilians in order to further their goals. Most controversially, the episode suggests that rather than GDI being an essential factor in stopping TIberium's spread, it was a cause of it, revealing evidence that the spread of Tiberium from Europe to other countries was the result of mining corporations trying to use the substance to further, with both tacit and open support of GDI.

Episode 3: The War
With the first Tiberium war in full sway, XCOM is further stripped of assets and parts. What little orbital authority the organisations once possessed is usurped by GDI's orbital defense systems, and their control stations are repurposed to support the Ion Cannon network. Budget and pay are cut relentlessly, and by the end of the year, XCOM is little more than an empty box. Diving further into conspiracies, the documentary now focuses on a number of alleged clandestine operations, such as secret GDI strikes to target Nod human augmentation facilities far beyond what the brotherhood ever achieved.

Episode 4: The New XCOM

With the conclusion of the first Tiberium War, and the Ethereal invasion not long thereafter, GDI and Nod put their quarrel to rest and gain a common enemy. XCOM is reactivated as a military organization, the core of it's forces build from elite Nod and GDI insurgents. Many of them participated in the war, at least 5, included the head of research, are accused of war crimes and other questionable behavior. This is the usurpation of XCOM, the same name, but an entirely new organization behind the cover. With characteristic subtility, XCOM fights a fierce war against the Ethereal invaders, heedless of collateral damage. In the first year alone, XCOM is responsible for 4 Tiberium containment failures when stray fire hits storage tanks or harvesting equipment.

Episode 5 : The Highest bidder

Presenting a new perspective upon XCOM, the episode neither portrays them as a brutal remnant of the past, or heroic heroes of Earth, as pro and anti-advent propaganda often do. Instead, archive documentation paints a picture of a beleaguered organisation constantly short on funding and resources as major backers prefer to put their resources more to their own defense. XCOM becomes increasingly entwined in that corruption, prioritizing defenses missions by financial return rather than tactical necessities, and selling of alien equipment on the open market to the highest bidder. One such sale is Omicron Green, an alien drug captured from a supply barge, which is released to civilians with little to no testing. By the end of the year, the addiction epidemic has taken 50 000 lives.

Episode 6 : The End

With XCOM both increasingly desperate for funding and increasingly unreliable as corruption threads it's way through the organization, public and government support craters. Individual organizations start leaving, negotiating separate peace with the Alien invaders. While later news source would describe XCOM as being betrayed and left behind by Nod and GDI, contemporary sources show a far more mixed view on the issue. With XCOM frequently selling salvaged alien technology on the open market, both Nod and GDI moved to take control over the alien salvage for their own purposes. This conflict over resourcing escalated as XCOM refused to accept oversight or give up control over such an essential income source, until not 3 months later both GDI and Nod decide to go their own ways.

This isn't quite what you asked for but it's related.

If anyone could point out any mistakes I've made or improvements that could be done I would be rather thankful.

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (23:10)] Alright Scholar I'm here what's so important?

[NODdist_Scholar (23:11)] I need the help of Scanner, Flash and Nos.

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (23:13)] Why?

[NODdist_Scholar(23:14)] Well since it's coming up to the 10th anniversary I and the netrunners decided to use our backdoor into the local PubIn office to see what they're going to do this year.

[S\/\/0pingE4gle(23:16)] Wait since when do you have any backdoors into Public Information?

[NODdist_Scholar(23:17)] My secret 😉

[NODdist_Scholar(23:17)] But that's not the important part the important part is this lovely "educational game" that their going to release for the anniversary.

[NODdist_Scholar(23:18)] We went over it with a fine-tooth comb and well… it's what you would expect from PubIns finest propaganda pieces focusing, of course, on the Western European front.

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (23:19)] And you want to wreck it?

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (23:19)] How is that going to require the help of my best news hounds?

[NODdist_Scholar(23:21)] Because the plan isn't to wreck it, it's to subvert it!

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (23:22)] I think I see where you're going with this, give me 15 BRB.

[NODdist_Scholar(23:23)] I'll call in Net and Bandit.

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (23:39)] Alright we're here what's the plan?

[NODdist_Scholar(23:40)] Well first I'm going to need some of your best footage for the Spanish/Portugal theatre stuff like the gas bombing of Porto, the Madrid terror attacks, the last stand at Valladolid, the flattening of Gibraltar, the slaughter of the Lisbon evacuation, etc.

[News-Flash(23:41)] Hmmm got some archived news footage from Madrid and Valladolid but as far as I know the Porto gasing was so early it got covered up, Nos you have anything from there?

[InTheNos(23:41)] Sorry I've only got some shaky phone cam vids from that but I think I've got some fog pod footage from bit further south a few months later, let me check.

[ScannerMannnn(23:41)] I've got hours of audio and guncam footage from recovered blackboxes from all over that theatre I'll send you some of the choicer ones.

[ScannerMannnn(23:42)] Oh and I've got coverage of all six hours of Valladolid.

[N37R][der(23:43)] Wait you can't be serious? I thought nothing got out of that shitshow

[ScannerMannnn(23:44)] Yep there was a news crew embedded with some troops who got cut off from the retreat and managed to make their way over there before the encirclement was closed where they filmed the whole thing then hid their camera in a basement that some scavengers found and traded to me last year.

[ScannerMannnn(23:45)] The camera was a write off but the footage was amazingly enough completely fine.

[The_Smiling_Bandit (Strikes Again! Ha ha ha!)] Whoa

[NODdist_Scholar(23:46)] huh

[N37R][der(23:46)] nice

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (23:47)] I think that's enough for now and if you need more Scholar you can shoot me a message later.

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (23:48)] But if you replace this game with your new improved version ADVENTs spiders will spot it in a heartbeat, how are you going to avoid that?

[NODdist_Scholar(23:49)] Through a trio of diversions and something Net cooked up, if you would please Net.

[N37R][der(23:50)] I planted a resident virus in the PubIn servers which contain the game and when we update it with our new version it'll active and create a shell program to make it look like it's still the same game.

[N37R][der(23:50)] Spiders won't notice a thing until it's too late.

[The_Smiling_Bandit (Strikes Again! Ha ha ha!)] Meanwhile we'll be causing some chaos in three different places to keep them looking elsewhere

[NODdist_Scholar(23:53)] For the first attack we will be using the personal server of this nice little quisling family to replace some of the days "live" news footage with some actual real uncensored footage, anyone want to offer up some for the cause?

[InTheNos(23:54)] I've got some nice footage of Isabella Lopez getting interrupted mid-sentence by some troopers executing unarmed civilians then her going off on them for doing so on camera.

[NODdist_Scholar(23:55)] Nice I'm always up for embarrassing miss "Voice of Truth" when I can.

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (23:55)] Bit cold to throw a family under the bus like this isn't it?

[NODdist_Scholar(23:56)] They've fingered three GDI agents, a NOD saboteur team, a Forgotten scout and two families with resistance sympathies.

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (23:57)] Ah well fuck em then.

[N37R][der(23:58)] meanwhile while our unknowing newest recruits are making the news a botnet will be making a DDOS attack on the local security centres servers, nothing to sophisticated but it will require an effort to stop.

[The_Smiling_Bandit (Strikes Again! Ha ha ha!)] And for the final move we're going to make a run at the Bright Smiles gene clinic with something a bit more serious then the other two to make it look like our primary target.

[NODdist_Scholar(24:00)] Which it actually is, but all together it still makes for a nice cover for this.

[InTheNos(00:02)] Are you going after Bright Smiles because it's seems to be linked to about a dozen disappearances in the last half-decade or because it's such a hard target?

[The_Smiling_Bandit (Strikes Again! Ha ha ha!)] A little from column A, a little from column B people have been entering clinics around the world and then leaving for parts unknown and I can't find a pattern to it.

[NODdist_Scholar(00:04)] We don't expect the whole story but we may get a lead or at least something useful.

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (00:5)] Alright I think we're set now let's go to bed don't you lot realise how late it is?

[N37R][der(00:06)] Sleep is for the weak!

[NODdist_Scholar(00:07)] And the tired and those who have a lot of work ahead of them like us.

[The_Smiling_Bandit (Strikes Again! Ha ha ha!)] Night all.

[ScannerMannnn(00:7)] See ya

[N37R][der has left the chat]

[NODdist_Scholar(00:11)] And yet I can still out do you with one hand tied behind my back.

[News-Flash(00:13)] I'll trawl my archives and see if I find any useful footage for you Scholar.

[News-Flash has left the chat]

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (00:14)] Gene clinics have some nasty IC are you lot sure you can do this?

[NODdist_Scholar(00:15)] Their up to something in those things and we're not going to find out by sitting around with our thumbs up our collective rears.

[S\/\/0pingE4gle (00:16)] Alright as long as you're sure.

The X-files : How The War Was Lost.

Im intrigued by this, but it misses out on cannon status as ADVENT does its best to hold absolute control of the narrative surrounding the Invasion, as well as focusing coverage on the post war and downplaying the invasion entirely. And XCOM, as a symbol of unified human resistance, is a no go on media treating it as anything less than a cabal of terrorists dedicated to dividing humanity and holding them back.

[Private Chat Group [Neutral Zone] June 3rd 2029 23:10]

Cannon! Appreciate the making of edits discussed via discord, and while it isnt exactly what I was expecting, I like the vibe quite a bit. Information shared around outside of ADVENTs view is never perfect, but this does a good job of showing how efforts to spread a counter narrative to ADVENTs propaganda would go. As to the rewards, the Iberian Peninsula as you arrive is experiencing an upswing in awareness and attention on the activities ADVENT does not like you to know about. The population will be more sympathetic to XCOM and other resistance organizations. Additionally, those on ADNet with resistance sympathies will be heard from again, in one way or another.

My laptop is breaking and out of commission rn, so writing has been delayed, might be workable tomorrow, might not. If not, likely writing pause till end of the month.

Turn 1 - January 2029
Winning Vote: Iberia.

Waking up in your quarters aboard the Ant Queen, you were thankful that she was finally deployed. Beyond seeing the pleasant rolling hills of Andalucia, it meant you and the rest of your crew had access to showers and just more space. Between the stress of infiltrating into the region receding and the uptick in amenities, you expected the animosity from yesterday was not going to be repeated any time soon.

The most immediate and simple benefit though was having more than enough space to roll out your prayer rug. A simple red background with white and black imagery of the Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, it has been with you since the last year of the Invasion after its predecessor was vaporized.

Finishing up washing and taking down the rug from the wall above your bed, you settled into prayer. After finishing the first chapter's recitation, you started those verses that had always felt right or reminded you of what you had learned. The first was always close to your thoughts in these times.

"Remember when you had been vastly outnumbered and oppressed in the land, constantly in fear of attacks by your enemy, then He sheltered you, strengthened you with His help, and provided you with good things so perhaps you would be thankful."

Today it conjured the image of the hills of Northern Mexico as you and your forces abandoned that base. But what you focused on was the second half. You were sheltered. You were strengthened. You were thankful for the good things delivered by Him. And these things would not be wasted. This shelter and strength would be brought to those of Iberia who still feared ADVENT. In the name of God, Mohammed, and Kane.

The rest of your day was made up of handling the neverending onslaught of paperwork and basic planning, punctuated by meetings with each of your staff. First was Chief Engineer Shen who seemed to be continually unable to form a salute or follow a schedule. Though she arrived early this time, which was something of an improvement.

"Commander, here are some options for tasking engineering. Nothing revolutionary, setting up the equipment for tactical networks for all our forces or sending out a team to pick over the ruins in the region to see if there is anything we or ADVENT missed. That one will take some manpower to make sure my engineers make it in and out. "

"What are you expecting to find Shen?"

"Not entirely sure. Most likely is just a bit of old supplies that we could repurpose, or left behind alien scrap to work with. There could be abandoned equipment from either side, or if we are very lucky functioning facilities in some of the old bases. GDI or Brotherhood make."

"Understood."

Engineering (2 Points):
[]Engineering (x EP): Basic Tac-Net
XCOM has inherited a diverse selection of weapons, armor, and importantly, communications equipment. GDI, Nod, and Forgotten equipment can interface on a basic level with one another but cannot do much more than ensure radio communications. By building dedicated coms systems that can provide a more complete tactical picture for our field commanders we can improve our capabilities. The new system will also ensure improved compatibility with the existing standards. (Cost: 4 EP, 10 supplies on completion. Affects all forces.)

[]Engineering (x EP): Scavenge Invasion-era ruins
Provided by GDI and Nod with the location of old bases in the region, we may be able to find some useful materials or supplies. (Cost: 1 EP, 1 Infantry Squad for 1 turn)

"Commander, my team and I are ready to begin work. We currently lack any ADVENT technical or biological specimens to learn from but there are two projects at present that may be of use. The first is to work on a greater ability to decipher ADVENT encryption used in their communication networks. Our equipment is capable of the task but lacks more sophisticated approaches and software. The second project concerns itself with a data package on the aliens from the former XCOM. It contains an analysis a decade out of date, but it does cover a variety of the basics that current ADVENT. My team will need time to go over and familiarize themselves with it, however."

"Thank you, Doctor. And what is the state of the Tiberium fields nearby?"

"We are able to expand harvesting operations without drawing ADVENT's attention due to the number and size of the fields. Otherwise, nothing to report Commander."

Science (4 Points):
[]Science (x SP): ADVENT Decryption Methods
Current methods available to XCOM to decrypt ADVENT communications are functional yet take time, in addition to more heavily encrypted systems likely to be much more resistant to current methods. By developing the tools to access our enemy's communications better, opportunities and dangers will be more easily identified to be acted upon. (Cost: 4 SP.)

[]Science (x SP): Invasion-era Familiarization
The science team of XCOM has come from GDI, Nod, and the Forgotten and as such does not have a uniform base of experience, especially with alien technology. Using the Data package obtained from the former iteration of XCOM, the team will undergo a crash course to familiarize themselves and prepare for the analysis of capture ADVENT technology in the future. (Cost: 2 SP)

"Most immediately, what forces can we raise or bring into the region, Bradford?"

"Infantry predominantly, which we can augment with light 4x4s or Nod designs for Attack Bikes and Buggies. To expand options we are going to have to develop it in-house or prove to the council that we are a winning bet and not a waste of their time." Shaking his head as he finished.

"With those forces, we can prove that. It's going to have to be light work for now, but we have the tools we need." Sharing a look with the ex-commando you noted "But we do need to replace the tools from the last two wars."

Bradford raised an eyebrow "Which kind of tools are you considering, Commander."

"More than just what I'm used to, Bradford. You and yours won't be left by the wayside, I promise you that."

"That's good to hear Commander."

Recruitment:
Available Resources: 100 Supplies, 25 Tiberium

Light Infantry Squads (Cost: 5 Supplies | Maintenance: 1 Per 2 Squads)
-Equipped with the venerable M16 MK2, fragmentation grenades, and light body armor, Light infantry have been integral parts of all human factions' infantry. While not a standout and lacking in heavy weapons, they are cost-effective.

Missile Infantry Squads (Cost: 7 Supplies | Maintenance: 1)
-Equipped to a similar standard as light infantry but augmented with shoulder-fired, fire and forget missiles effective against vehicles, aircraft, and structures. Slower than pure Light Infantry and less effective against other infantry units.

Attack Bike (Cost: 8 Supplies | Maintenance: 1)
-The venerable Nod attack bike. Mounting a twin missile launcher designed for engaging vehicles and having minimal armor, it is a fast scout and raider that has seen widespread use across the world for approaching 3 decades.

Attack Buggy (Cost: 9 Supplies | Maintenance: 1)
-The twin to the Attack Bike, the Attack Buggy instead mounts a turret with twin HMGs. More armored and slightly slower than the Attack Bike, it also has a slightly longer range and cross-country performance. With a crew of two, it excels in the same situations (scouting and raiding) as the Attack Bike.

With you and your forces now in Iberia, it was time to commit yourself to XCOM's first month of action.

General Mission Information: Most missions must be targeted at a specific Zone (multiple zones can be selected at a time as distinct missions however). This affects both the mechanics and narrative of the mission results.

Blue Zones (BZ) are where Tiberium has been beaten back and where ADVENT is generally strongest. They are predominantly Urban in makeup, either the shining white of model ADVENT cities or the slums surrounding it. Missions here may take longer due to difficulty in infiltrating/exfiltrating or face stiffer opposition, due to high ADVENT presence. There is also a greater chance for civilian casualties. There are characteristics that make activity here desirable to XCOM though. Firstly, any event here is a major public event that will be spread by word of mouth and digital distribution. Furthermore, an urban environment is a strong position to begin an ambush from. Finally, there is no shortage of valuable ADVENT targets in the cities.

Yellow Zones (YZ) are the most common zone type on planet Earth. Tiberium contamination is a possibility, but with environmental protection equipment, it is not a major threat during operations. It is where those unwilling to live under the boot of ADVENT reside and is a mixture of small towns and individual settlements or compounds. Missions here have reduced risk relative to Blue or Red Zones. It is also easier to lose ADVENT attention in this area while still containing worthwhile targets.

Red Zones (RZ) are hell on Earth. Tiberium is omnipresent, and even with environmental protection gear, most are guaranteed to be heavily contaminated in a matter of hours. The terrain is rough and changing as Tiberium erupts from the Earth. Tibnados and Ion Storms are frequent and powerful, capable of destroying vehicles and killing those unprotected. ADVENT forces in these zones come predominantly in the form of small groups protecting harvesters. Furthermore, the borders of these regions are patrolled heavily. The population of a Red Zone is a majority Forgotten, with small numbers of those that are not. Missions here will almost guarantee some level of losses for units assigned unless they are specifically adapted to the conditions. Operations in the Red Zones are still necessary to disrupt ADVENT harvesting operations, as well as obtain Tiberium for your own purposes.

Hearts and Minds
[]Mission: Make contact with local resistance cells.
While we have some scattered resistance contacts, we lack anything resembling a real intelligence gathering network or a connection to the populace in Iberia. Starting on making those contacts will allow us to learn where ADVENT is vulnerable as well as gain a source of recruitment.
-[] in BZ [UNAVAILABLE] It is currently inadvisable to attempt to contact Resistance cells in the BZs, we simply lack the intel to do so without burning them.
-[] in YZ. Efforts here will improve intelligence available on activities in Yellow Zones. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type. Benefits scale with assigned units.]
-[] in RZ. Efforts here will improve intelligence available on activities in Red Zones. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type. Benefits scale with assigned units.]
[]Mission: Discreetly supply aid
To help the people living under ADVENT control and make contacts, we need to supply people with what they lack. Food, medicine, and amenities that you can't get unless the invaders favor you. By distributing these items we can help the people and establish our credentials.
-[] in BZ. Minor boost to reputation, possible intelligence gain. [Duration: 2 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type. Cost: Minimum of 5 Supplies]
-[] in YZ. Minor boost to reputation, possible intelligence gain. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type. Cost: Minimum of 5 Supplies]
-[] in RZ. Minor boost to reputation, possible intelligence gain. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type. Cost: Minimum of 5 Supplies]
[]Mission: Openly supply aid
To hell with discretion. Fly the flag of XCOM and give freely. Combat is not guaranteed, but it is possible that ADVENT will have forces on hand to attempt to put a stop to this.
-[] in BZ [UNAVAILABLE] ADVENT presence is simply too high at this time to accomplish this. To do so, we will need either a major distraction or a collapse of ADVENT patrols.
-[] in YZ. Boosts reputation, and possible intelligence gain. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type. Cost: Minimum of 5 Supplies]
-[] in RZ. Boosts reputation, and possible intelligence gain. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type. Cost: Minimum of 5 Supplies]

Intelligence
[]Mission: Locate ADVENT Tiberium Refineries
Tiberium harvesting efforts by ADVENT in the Yellow and Red zones supply the occupiers with a steady stream of resources. This stream of raw Tiberium is taken to refineries almost entirely in Yellow Zones before being transported across ADVENTs holding. By locating specific facilities in the region, we can prepare for targeting them directly or the shipments to and from them.
[Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]

[]Mission: Locate ADVENT Bases
Identifying the exact location of ADVENT Bases in the region is critical for two reasons. Firstly is the ability to estimate and anticipate responses to activities across the region. The second is to determine if any are vulnerable to an attack or other action against them. And with the Council's request to obtain ADVENT data on the spread of Tiberium, they are the most direct means to obtain it via the ADVENT network.
-[] in BZ [Duration: 2 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]
-[] in YZ [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]
-[] in RZ [UNAVAILABLE] Lack of sufficient protection.

[]Mission: Establish dedicated signals monitoring outposts
Setting up monitoring stations in the countryside and abandoned buildings will help us keep tabs on ADVENTs communications. Being able to better detect ADVENT patrols is the most immediate benefit but it may also reveal longer-term plans of our enemy.
-[] in BZ. Gains intelligence. [Duration: 2 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type Costs: 10 Supplies]
-[] in YZ. Gains intelligence. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type Costs: 10 Supplies]
-[] in RZ [UNAVAILABLE] Lack of sufficient protection.

Sabotage
[]Mission: Sabotage ADVENT Rail lines
ADVENT rail lines are a core component of the invader's supply network. Exactly what they transport at any given time is unknown to us at this time, but destroying or delaying the trains is still likely to hinder the enemy. Simply derailing them will not let us obtain their cargo, but it will also minimize the risk of actually engaging the enemy.
-[] in BZ.Minor reputation and Alert boost. [Duration: 2 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]
-[] in YZ. Minor reputation and Alert boost. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]

[]Mission: Sabotage bridges
The destruction of bridges is simple and unlikely to accomplish anything beyond minor disruptions to ADVENT patrols and supply convoys, but it will make the news. And spreading the word of XCOMs presence in the region could be beneficial.
-[] in BZ Minor reputation and Alert boost. [Duration: 2 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]
-[] in YZ Minor reputation and Alert boost. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]

Raid
[]Mission: Strike ADVENT Checkpoints
Hitting an ADVENT checkpoint is the simplest and most direct mission we can accomplish at this time. Entirely stationary and lightly defended, strikes against them are likely to be a low risk while freeing those entrapped by them. It will certainly make the news as well.
-[] in BZ. Boost reputation and alert. [Duration: 2 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]
-[] in YZ. Boost reputation and alert. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]

[]Mission: Ambush ADVENT Patrols
Randomly hitting ADVENT patrols where they can be found does not serve any of our immediate objectives, but it will help establish XCOM in the mind of humanity. It will also let us assess the strengths and weakness of our own forces versus ADVENTs, and possibly draw patrols into specific regions.
-[] in BZ. Boost reputation and alert. [Duration: 2 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]
-[] in YZ. Boost reputation and alert. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type]
-[] in RZ [UNAVAILABLE] Lack of sufficient protection.

[]Mission: Seize ADVENT Train
We lack the intel to pick out a target for maximum effect, but seizing a train will have at least some value regardless by seizing the cargo and denying it to ADVENT. It is a major risk, however, as it is entirely possible to strike a train carrying troops ready for combat. Committing to this action should only be done with a strong force and the knowledge that it is a risk.
-[] in BZ [UNAVAILABLE] ADVENT strength and presence are too high.
-[] in YZ. Variable gain of unknown resources. Boost reputation and alert. Possible major engagement. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 4 units of any type]

AN: Okay, now to the real meat and potatoes. But first, a series of rambling comments.

Firstly, id like to restate that I am always open to constructive critique or general writing tips. Also, please shout at me if the formating for all this is kind of bad, I think its passable but if yall have better ideas I am happy to consider them.

Secondly, I am probably not the most competent person when it comes to writing about someone who follows Islam, especially when it's syncretized with a fictional religion. So if I write something that just does not make sense or is just Yikes, please reach out in thread or in PM and ill do my utmost to address it.

Finally, Im running for councilwomanfox on SV, so if yall wanna vote for me id greatly appreciate it but its is not at all required.

Oh and also I actually be throwing up a status / unit roster in the reserved posts soonTM.

And that's all for now.

So a few questions @FantasticMsFox
1. can we spread the cost of engineering and science projects over multiple turns?
2. do the results of Invasion-era Familiarization scale with SP spent on it or do we only need to spend one or maybe zero SP on it?
3. can we send out units on the same turn as we recruit them or do we need to wait until the next turn for that?

So, status not having changed from last post (I presume), here is the status
Overall Status:
Alert: 1/20 (Alert is how much ADVENT and the Ethereals know you exist and what you are doing. It is a global stat. Right now, you don't exist to the Ethereals.)

GDI Support: 0/5 (Current Benefits: None)
Nod Support: 1/5 (Current Benefits: Attack Bike, Attack Buggy
Forgotten Support: 0/5 (Current Benefits: None)
Council Requests: Zone Data. Timeout: N/A Rewards: +65 Supplies
Faction Requests: None.
Support ranges from 0 to 5 for each faction individually. Increasing support unlocks the ability to produce faction specific units and structures as well abilities, supplies per turn, and other narrative effects. Increase support through completing council or faction missions and killing ADVENT. You lose support if you are not achieving in results, snubbing factions, and losing forces for no gain.

Supplies: 100 + 15 per turn (Tiberium Refining) - 5 per turn (Maintenance)

Supplies are an abstraction of spare parts, guns, bullets, food, medical supplies, fuel, etc. These are used in the raising of units, construction of structures and upgrades,

Tiberium: 25 + 15 per turn (Harvesting) - 15 per turn (Refining)
Tiberium Refining Capacity: 15 (15 in use)

Tiberium is the material that defined the earth before the Ethereals arrived. It can be converted 1:1 to resources, as well as used to recruit certain units, predominantly Forgotten and to a lesser extent Nod. There is no cap to Tiberium storage, and it does not decay.
Engineering Points: 2 per turn
Science Points: 4 per turn

Engineering and Science Points are an abstraction of expertise, equipment, and other factors that are used to develop new things through XCOM. Some projects will require resources or materials other than these points but will always require an investment of points. Some projects will show you at the start how long they will be, others will not. Next turn options will be posted.

Active Forces:
Ant Queen Modified MCV (Maintenance: 0)
-The Ant Queen is the brainchild of Lily Shen. An old model Mobile Construction Vehicle, it has undergone extensive refits and modifications ranging from the integration of a network of Lazarus shields, an integral Tiberium refinery, external weapon stations, and long-range uplink capability. What rounds out this impressive suite of capabilities is a fully integrated network of Enhanced Video Assistant that drastically cut down the necessary manpower to operate in the field. Combined, is the dream of any Battle Commander who wants to establish a base quickly and in near utter secrecy anywhere on the planet.

Black Hand Bodyguards (Maintenance: 0)
-A team of 6 highly trained and well-equipped Nod troops dedicated to the protection of you above all else. They cannot be sent out on missions but will protect you from attack by ADVENT or alien forces. A sign of faith from Anton Slavik.

3 Skyranger High-Speed Transports (Maintenance: 0)
-A joint project by Nod and GDI during the Invasion, the Skyranger is a high speed, high endurance combat transport fitted with a Lazarus Shield derived stealth device, allowing it to avoid detection while in transit. It also is propelled by two Liquid-Tiberium powered turbo jets and is capable of reaching mach 2.8 in level flight. Regrettably, their production lines were lost during the war, so no new production is possible at this time. Allows the transport of troops of most types anywhere in the world on short notice.

6 Light Infantry Squads (Maintenance: 3 Supplies per turn)
-Equipped with venerable M16 MK2, fragmentation grenades, and light body armor, Light infantry have been integral parts of all human faction's infantry. While not standout and lacking in heavy weapons, they are cost effective.

2 Missile Infantry Squads (Maintenance: 2 Supplies per turn)
-Equipped to a similar standard as light infantry but augmented with shoulder fired, fire and forget missiles effective against vehicles, aircraft, and structures. Slower than pure Light Infantry and less effective against other infantry units.
In short:
Supplies: 100+10/turn
Tiberium: 25
Engineering Points: 2 per turn
Science Points: 4 per turn
3 Skyranger High-Speed Transports (Maintenance: 0)
6 Light Infantry Squads (Maintenance: 3 Supplies per turn)
2 Missile Infantry Squads (Maintenance: 2 Supplies per turn)

I am looking at it and I think we should hit up the tac net and invasion era familiarization. As for the missions, we should probably not go raiding. Hearts and Minds in the YZs is a good idea imo.

Until Fox gets back and answers my questions here's what I'm thinking

[] Plan First Quiet Steps
-[] Engineering
--[] Engineering (1 EP): Basic Tac-Net
--[] Engineering (1 EP): Scavenge Invasion-era ruins
---[] 1 Light Infantry Squad
-[] Science
--[] Science (3 SP): ADVENT Decryption Methods
--[] Science (1 SP): Invasion-era Familiarization
-[] Recruitment
--[] 1 Attack Bike (Cost: 8 Supplies)
--[] 1 Attack Buggy (Cost: 9 Supplies)
--[] total cost 17 Supplies
-[] Missions
-[] Hearts and Minds
--[] MISSION: Make contact with local resistance cells.
---[] in YZ. Efforts here will improve intelligence available on activities in Yellow Zones. [Duration: 1 Turn. Assigned: Minimum of 1 unit of any type. Benefits scale with assigned units.]
---[] 5 Light Infantry Squads + 2 Missile Infantry Squads

thoughts people?
