Disney's Moana, time for fish hooks

Move over Merida, you're not the chronologically oldest princess story anymore :p

This is the guy who pulled half of New Zealand out of the Ocean, right?

Watching. Definitely. And I should brush up on the mythology sometime too.

Here's a promising sign:

"Featuring songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa'i"

So, the mind behind Hamilton and a polynesian songwriter.

Anyway, this trailer introduces us to Maui, but I look forward to the inevitable Moana trailer.

Looks interesting, it's nice to see Disney branching out, and they have been making pretty good films lately, with the exception of brave.

Aaargh, I didn't notice the typo in the title and now it bothers me immensely!

@Khaos, do something about it :p

Brave was Pixar for that matter, this is the Zootopia/Big Hero/Frozen crew.
And i can trust them over Pixar in recent memory, well, aside from Inside Out. That was a masterpiece.

But yeah, this is gonna be a ton of fun. And a small cast for character interaction too. Keeps it all self continued.

I am SO seeing this, but Maui's face sometimes looks weird to me. Mostly when it's a Dwayne expression.

Jesus I have been listening to some of this snippets of music they have released in trailers and such. They are fucking awesome. I rarely by soundtracks anymore, usually just get the 1 song I like out of it, but this movie seems like its going to be a huge hit.

The music does sound incredible already, and like the film itself just looks like a total winner. I am just blown away by the imagery of the ocean and the moving water.

So it's a beautifully animated Disney movie about a mystical ocean adventure based on a setting and culture usually ignored in western entertainment...

AND IT HAS THE FUCKING ROCK IN IT?! Sold.

I'm getting vibes of this movie being of the kind where even if it's called 'Moana', the show is really going to belong to Maui when it's all said and done, in a good way. Nothing against Moana herself, but Maui just looks like 'breakout character' material, the kind of character who ultimately steals the show and runs off with it when everything is said and done.

Also coconut people.

They are pretty dang adorable, savage though they may be.

Which version of maui is this?

he is the main character in the original stories, the character Moana is a creation of disney.

anyway the model makes me worried he'll be a bit brutish, he was always more of a trickster hero.
