Verge was having… difficulties.
He had as of recently taken up the challenge of learning how to general electrical energy of his own, a challenge that he ironically had found less difficult than the process of creating fire for the first time. Likely because of his prior experience with redirecting lightning.
However it became far more difficult for him to stockpile the energy needed to actually attack with it. A technique such as Lightning Slash required a substantial amount of electricity after all, and the amount Verge could generate on hand was… disappointing compared to the attack he could manage in combination with Sparks.
The main hurdle was generating enough lightning to attack, while keeping it stable and from shocking his own body. He was not an electrical digimon by nature, so this problem was not entirely unforeseen. However the difficulty was sti;; vexing and irritating all the same.
Still, nothing worth it in Verge's life ever had truly come easy to him.
He had tried to make use of what little energy he'd managed to pull out of these failed attempts to imitate the students variation on meant muscle charge. He knew that the increased speed would undoubtedly be a great improvement on the base technique…. But that fell into another issue.
Namely that bones made of metal made for a good conductor, too good of a conductor in fact. And without any kind of inherent control mechanism, it was flat out impossible to keep the electricity from disbursing and shocking himself.
This unique feature of his anatomy was a very annoying factor that he had been on the receiving end of many, many, many, many times throughout his career as both a soldier for the Host, and his position as a Chevalier of the Bulwark. Not that he would complain about having that feature, it was proving painful in this instance but many more times it had saved his life as well as generally made the lives of his enemies more difficult
Still the lack of any sort of progress on this front was annoying especially when failure led to him shocking himself.
Verge had considered his patience a hard won, and very valuable trait especially when dealing with his brother, spirits know that cyber could get on his nerves when he wanted….. However if there was one thing that could wear on it in short order beyond maybe Drops presence, it was repeated electrocution over a series of hours. It reminded him of the long, painful, seemingly pointless fights against the massive hog back in his champion days.
And now his turbines were spinning, it was a good thing no one was around to see this or he would find himself more than a little embarrassed at the fact.
Great annoyance however was not a reason to give up his attempts… but ultimately practically would have to win out.
Hold a moment Verge.
His turbines produced energy, produced power. They naturally worked to produce a sort of denser, swirling air (which worked as fuel for his combustion attacks) so why couldn't he try something different? To use that power to bolster the lightning he'd already created instead of just trying to feed more energy from his own body into it? The latter was clearly not working on any scale worth using, and that was without the risk of hurting himself with his own attack being factored in.
It would not hurt to at least give it a few attempts with this new method, or at least it would not cause him more issues than repeated irritation.
So Verge tried once again to manifest the lightning claw attack, this time however instead of attempting to generate yet more lightning after the first spark of lightning he instead redirected some of the power from his still spinning turbines into the attack. In mere moments, the flickering light had transformed into a crackling shining of lightning. Now confident in the amount of power in the attack itself he unleashed upon some nearby training dummies all but reducing them to metal slag in a display of electrical power. An action that he had up until moments before been unable to do on his own, and that he normally relied upon either the environment or his own allies to accomplish at all.
This… this was something Verge could make good use of.
He smiled to himself in satisfaction, then proceeded to start practicing with his new capabilities. This was a new element to work with, which in turn meant a whole new world of techniques and skills he could learn. And that was something he was very much looking forward to.
"Sensei!" He turned around to see Deimos and Warren in the door to the training yard, a look of concern on both of their faces. "I smelt burnt GrappLeomon... well more than is normal for your training is there er, somethin' up down here?"
"I believe the state of something being up while 'down here' is impossible." It seemed that Demios, as used to Verge's habits as he had become, Deimos occasionally forgot his masters occasional inability to understand metaphors. "Unless you mean to ask whether something is up relative to my current position?"
"Right." Deimos let out a long-suffering sigh. "Hrmph, forgot you had issues with metaphors. What I meant to ask is, did anythin' go wrong? I know ya like to run your own body into the ground while training, but ya usually don't electrocute yourself this bad! Spirits above I can smell you from another part of the scholum!"
"Ah." Now that was a question that made sense to Verge. "My apologies for worrying the two of you. I was practicing my lightning manipulation and… I've made a breakthrough."
Verge then utilized Lightning Slash, once again channeling the power from his turbines to supercharge the attack up to *acceptable levels of power*. The resulting attack melted down another set of training dummies.
It was a good thing he could construct these training dummies on his own, destroying actually expensive equipment would be... Not a considerate thing to do to say the least.
And he was certainly not Thresh in that regard.
"What!?" Demios let out a mix between a choke and a sob "You've got to be kidding me sensei! Lightning's my thing ya know? With how fast your learnin' things I'm never going to catch up!"
Warren on the other hand looked more confused than anything else. He was not used to a GrappLeomon of all things somehow learning to manipulate lightning to this degree. But that was short-lived before the feeling of pride of all things overtook him. His inspiration was nothing if not resourceful and he had to admit it was kind of cool that Verge found lightning interesting enough an element to try and put so much effort into learning. "That's amazing!"
"My thanks." Verge of a small smile graces features. "And I am happy to see the two of you are impressed with the results."
"Yeah, yeah I get it." Demios crossed his arms letting a small amount of mirth creep into his own voice. "Hey, sensei. How does that King of Firsts actually work anyways? I've had some time to see your technique in action but I've never actually gotten an in-depth look at it."

OOC: I left that last line as a little silly sequel hook, if someone else wants to take it up at some point go ahead otherwise I dunno maybe I'll do it at some point.
