Origins 1.1
Your name is Bruce Wayne, son of Thomas and Martha Wayne. The Crown Prince of Gotham, your lineage can be traced all the way back to the city's founding. But, only fools rely on old money...and Thomas Wayne was no fool. Your father and mother grew the prestige of the Wayne family by:

[] Medicine
Your father was a doctor and founder of numerous charities throughout Gotham. His love for the city was great and he was determined to rescue Gotham from poverty and disease.

[] Law
Your father was a lawyer. A District Attorney in fact. The criminal element of the city feared your father and he had earned the respect of many within Gotham.

[] Technology
Your father was a brilliant scientist, pushing the R&D department of WayneTech to new heights. While less involved in Gotham itself, your father believed technology could improve the lives of Gotham's citizens.

[] Business
Your father devoted himself to Wayne Industries. He grew the wealth of the company and wisely invested. While your family had always been millionaires, your father pushed that number into the billions and Wayne Stocks were firmly in your family's grasp.

[] Crime
Your father was one of the Crime Lords of Gotham. Carmine Falcone was a regular visitor to your home and you knew your father engaged in risky business.

You loved your parents, regardless of your father's occupation, and they loved you. No matter how busy your parents were, they always took the time to love you and impart wisdom to you. However, your closest companion was actually Alfred, the family butler. A british man with a wry sense of humor, you were never far from Alfred's watchful gaze.

Yours was a happy childhood, and you made many friends at Gotham Academy. One of your closest friends during this time was:

[] Harvey Dent
A young boy attending Gotham Academy on Scholarship, the two of you became fast friends.

[] Oswald Cobblepot
Born to old money, like yourself, Oswald was a troublemaker, but his jokes were amusing.

[] Kate Kane
Your cousin on your mother's side, Kate's mother had passed away during childbirth and her father was often away on military assignments. She became a constant companion at your home.

[] Thomas Elliot
Another child of old money, Tommy has always been a peculiar child, but you found his eccentricity fascinating.

Your happy childhood came to an end, however, one tragic night. You and your family had gone to see:

[] Excalibur
[] The Mark of Zorro
[] Footlight Frenzy

I want a Bruce Wayne that can be a great leader of men, who knows how to run an organisation. A Dark King of Gotham.

Game System and Character sheet info is up. It might seem a bit complicated if you're unfamiliar with DnD rulesets, but everything will be explained over time and more than happy to answer any questions that might be had.

[x] Crime
[x] Oswald Cobblepot
[x] The Mark of Zorro

Unlikely for these to win at this point, but I think that they would make an interesting character.

Coming from a crime family instead of a traditional rich Gotham family puts Bruce Wayne's character arc into a different light and I think it would mesh well with having Oswald Cobblepot as a childhood friend. There'd be a sort of symmetry between the Wayne and Cobblepot as two scions of Gotham crime families, one choosing a path of good to break away from the family legacy and the other choosing a path of evil to restore their family's legacy (depending on which incarnation of The Penguin we get, a number of them have their motivation for evil being to restore their family name).

I don't mind the Business-Batwoman-Big Ass Sword vote either though.

+1 Trinity Point for insightful discussion. Convo and thoughts are encouraged to drive engagement :)

I do see the advantage of the business choice, but in the narrative, that basically makes us the same as most portrayals of Batman. And I want to see something different, maybe not as drastic as crime, but different nonetheless.

I chose tech because of the reasoning above, as well as maybe becoming something akin to iron man as we continue to build bruce if it wins.

Also, I feel like the movies represent the type of batman we'll become, with excalibur being about chivalry, mark of zorro being classic, and I have no clue on the third movie, but I know it will be different from the original.

Another +1. I won't always be this generous, but it's the early stages and Trinity Points are highly useful to keep Bruce alive if you roll/decide poorly.

Footlight Frenzy is mentioned in Batman Beyond iirc. Excalibur is the movie seen in Batman's Batman v. Superman and Batman's The Joker origin (and I think other mediums as well). Not sure if the movies represent what type of Batman we'll become or if they're choices on setting details (I think representing what type of Batman we become is more likely, though).

Aw man, too bad I only found out about this quest now, since I would have voted for Clark (I know, the picture makes this obvious). Anyway, I think I can handle Bruce being picked and there are a lot we can do with him.

[X] Law
[X] Harvey Dent
[X] The Mark of Zorro

I don't really know what I want to vote, but this could be very interesting in and of itself. Thomas Wayne being one of the best DAs in Gotham's history and becomes an incredibly influential figure for Harvey Dent, the good friend of the son of said man, to become. Batman will still be the same in personality and would constantly try and save his best friend fro suffering a similar fate to his father, since Dent would walk on a similar path.

If Dent becomes Two-Face, then it would be even more tragic for Bruce.

I hope that this brings a lot of narrative points to make an interesting story between Harvey Dent and Bruce Wayne.

"Come on, Bruce! You're never going to catch me like that!"

You chased the flash of red hair through the woods behind Wayne Manor. Kate was faster than you, but you were smarter. She was running up on the hill, but the earth was easier to traverse along the riverbed. You ran, a brilliant smile filling your face even as flecks of water hit your face. It was refreshing.

Cool autumn air rushed past you and all you knew was laughter. Kate turned the bend and there you were, your hands reaching out to tag her.

"You're it!"

The girl scowled and moved to grab you, but you were already rushing off in the opposite direction. You had to move quickly, you were always a better hunter than being prey and you knew Kate's superior speed would grant her victory, but your pride demanded that you give it your all. You ran and you could fee her gaining. You found yourself along the old rail road, gravel crunching beneath your feet. And then you were falling. Pain.

"Bruce! Bruce! Are you alright?!?"

Kate's voice rang out, but you were too dazed to answer. You weren't certain how far you had fallen, but your mind recognized what had happened. Rotted wood must have given way and you had fallen into one of the old tunnels that had existed long before your family had made their wealth. Your brain hurt. Darkness.

Time passed, but no one yet came. You were sure Kate had run to find help, but you felt trapped, your body unable to move. You felt fear. Deep seated fear. Were you going to die down here? Something was coming. You turned your gaze to the left, a dark cave off in the distance and a large form grew closer. It wrapped it's arms around you, cold to the touch. And suddenly you were above ground and your father was with you, holding you close. You told them what had happened. About the dark figure and the cave, but no one believed you even though no one could explain how you made it to the top...but that figure never left your dreams. You dream of:

[] The Bat
[] The Owl
[] Write-in?

Though this creature haunts your dreams and the nightmare's never cease, still your time with your parents and family is joyful. For your Birthday, you request the opportunity to go see the new movie Excalibur. You watch with excitement the rise and fall of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. The quote that sticks out to you most is:

[] King Arthur: What is the greatest quality of knighthood? No poetry, just a simple answer.
Merlin: Alright then. Truth! That's it, truth. When a man lies he murders some part of world. You should know that.

[] Merlin: "Look into the eyes of the Dragon and despair."

[] Arthur: "What are you Merlin?"
Merlin: "A Dream to some. A Nightmare to others."

[] Arthur: "Now, once more, I must ride with my knights to defend what was, and the dream of what could be."

The movie ends on a somber note, as all good tragedies do and you follow your parents out of the theatre. You laugh and make merriment, unaware of the moment that will change you forever. Your family turns the corner of an alleyway and there he stands. You turn your gaze upon the one you will one day come to know as:

[] Joe Chill
[] Jack
[] Talon
