Girl has a point. Shipping is important.

"Scry. You'd need something of his, but the prototype should be capable of handling to spellweaving and providing you a location."
And thus Earth-Bet is introduced to Scry and Die.

That's not the only version of the story that exists. Remember that nearly all of the old legends and myths that we know about were filtered through hundreds to thousands of years of societies that tended to villainize both magic-using characters and strong female characters. Strong female magic users, such as Morgana, Medea, and Circe, were doubly screwed.

Yeah. They're not the only ones. Just some of the most famous and easily extrapolated into negativity due to those self same tropes.. Baggage yo, it's there and Glen would veto it to sidestep lacking a major PR are drive behind it. .

The funny thing is that she's not at all a villain in the earlier versions of the story. That was a later addition.

It's a good thing Glenn has zero influence on Lisa's suggestion then, isn't it. Neither she nor Taylor have any idea who he is.

Taylor may even know about the pre-villainization versions of Morgana on her own. Her mom was both a feminist and an English professor, after all, and while I don't know if Taylor was a literature geek in canon - not that it allowed her any time for hobbies between the bullying, villaining, warlording, and anti-apocalypsing - this would be far from the first fanon version of her to make her one.

Tentative vote

[]Attempt to steal something from Coil that could be used to Scry his location
[]Attempt to tap into the Empire's surveillance network
[]Patrol (Each additional slot costs an additional action.)
-[]One Patrol
Targeting:
-[]E88
[]Write-In

-[]Do some consulting work for the PRT. Who knows, you might stumble onto some moles thanks to your empathy powers (which is information you'll hold onto for now).

=> So basic idea here is to keep that XP gravy train chugging along. Getting some efficiency by (hopefully successfully) tapping into the E88 surveillance network and patrolling their territory. Gotta keep tabs on them since they've got a bunch of natural triggers so we need to be kept abreast of their capabilities.

Our other two actions indirectly work on our Coil problem. We need something of his to scry him, so gotta work on that. The write-in serves a couple purposes: moar goodwill with the PRT, moar $$ which we will then use to buy Dain all that expensive stuff (with a side of maybe ingratiating ourselves with the PRT so we can get that expensive stuff on the cheap), and getting more information.

UPDATED BELOW. Need more focus on Coil.

You currently have 25 XP. What would you like to spend it on?
[]Bank XP for later
=>Gotta save up for those 40s.

You have 10 SP to spend. Please select a skill plan:
[]Plan I C U
Computers 3 [4/8 SP to next level] + 4 SP => Computers 4 [8/16 SP]
Investigation 4 [8/16 SP to next level] + 6 SP => Investigation 4 [14/16 SP]

Get higher computers to help with the surveillance action, work up investigation since that's our bread n butter.

Through long hours training, you have acquired Peak Human. What would you like to train next?(reduce XP cost by 5)
[]Diamonds are forever (10 XP)
=> Survival first. Powerlevel the tree so we can snag the synergy perk, then rush Psionic Aegis.

Also Arthur's half-sister (Morgase?) and Morgana were originally two different characters that got mixed together like how Lancelot (and Guinevere?) was an entirely separate legend that got mixed together with the Arthurian mythos

I don't think you're getting my point. Glenn being glenn is irrelevant. Glenn being a good pr consultant is relevant. Morgana having negative connotations is relevant.

yeah there are previllinization version. In fact those are likely the true original version. This is utterly irrelevant to the fact that the version of Circe, Medea, and Morgana le Fey as villains is what is currently the predominant mainstream versions, and thus the names have a severe degree of negative affect and baggage attached to them that is kinda terrible for a budding hero. Especially so when attached to a magic theme.

I mean if we were talking about this from the position of having the protectorate massive pr machine going spintastic on this it would be a different story. We're not though. I mean this is like picking any sort of norse or german name whatsoever, even if you're black on the eastern seaboard. Ya know like that Jotun boy.

Taylor is easily stubborn enough that I can picture her ignoring all of this, even lecturing anyone who tries to 'remind' her that her namesake was a villain. "Actually, if you read the oldest versions..."

Combine this with the New Wave affiliation that I want to push on her - making Taylor an unambiguous hero - I see this as an opportunity and plot point, not a drawback.

Here is the perfect cape name for Taylor.....
Andraste: Andraste is a Ancient pagan warrior goddess, the goddess of victory, of ravens and of battles and protector of woodland animals from hunters, similar in many ways to the Irish war goddess Morrigan. Her name is thought to mean "the invincible one" or "she who has not fallen". It is told that her presence was evoked on the eve of battle to curry favour. As a Goddess of divination, she was probably called upon to divine the outcome of battles and war.

But we're not Taylor. We're lisa and we're making friendly intelligent and Ic suggestions as to what her name should be from a position of actually knowing something about parahuman dynamic and public relations.

And no she's not that stubborn. Not yet. Also making Ic decisions on narrative concerns like that is bad.

This is a really nice one.

Hmm. On second thought, need more focus on Coil if we want to be successful in getting something to scry with. Working with Taylor on it would be a wasted action though as right now we don't have anything for her to search with.

Updated plan.

The reason that Lisa would suggest Morgana(or some variant thereof) is so that Taylor can show up Myrddin with real magic. Petty? Perhaps, but it gives her something to work towards. It's also a great way to get useful attention, and also ensure that she's not just seen as some frilly magical girl.

OTOH, being seen as being nothing more than a silly magical girl is pretty awesome in terms of getting people to underestimate you. Scrying, in particular, makes her much more dangerous.

[X] Andraste

[X]Taylor's only expecting one. Best Victoria stay away for now.
-[X]Promise to let Taylor know that Glory Girl wants to meet her. Positively

[X]Help Victoria with her Matchmaking project. What could possibly go wrong?

[X]Acquire materials for Dain (Costs $$$)
[X]Attempt to tap into the Empire's surveillance network
[X]Attempt to contact Purity
-[X]Use whatever we already know about her, use whatever we can find out online, use whatever we find out from the Empire's surveillance network, and combine it all while keeping an observant and empathic eye out

--[X]Use knowledge of civilian identity, if we figure it out, to help meet her. In costume if possible

[X]Bank XP for later

I think that if we are going to try to tap into the E88 surveillance network we should definitely raise our computer level.

Yes. Lisa will suggest to the nice girl she just met a name with severe negative connotations for the purpose of showing up an a rated heroic cape totally ignoring any and all problems asociated with it on top of an already interdimensional scale snafu.

Could I get some comments/suggestions on my plan? I like to think that I've steered things pretty well thus far and that relies on good feedback because I Am Just One Man and might screw it up from time to time :V

Have we discarded 'Madoka' as a name for Taylor?

Anyway, what is considered 'normal' levels of skill at things? Is 4 average at a skill?

Hm. Well, I don't see anything overtly wrong with the week's activities in your plan. A little curious about your skill point allocation. Not saying Investigation isn't important (because it is), but a little towards Public Relations might be warranted.

That's true. We could boost PR to lvl 4 for 4 SP, which'd leave 2 for Investigation which won't be leveling this turn anyway. Which means we'll have a 4/6 SP split next turn so we can level that and either Law or Pistols.

Hmm.

Revised SP plan:

[]Plan Smooth Criminal
Computers 3 [4/8 SP to next level] + 4 SP => Computers 4 [8/16 SP]
Investigation 4 [8/16 SP to next level] + 2 SP => Investigation 4 [10/16 SP]
Public Relations 3 [4/8 SP to next level] + 4 SP => Public Relations 4 [8/16 SP]
