Alright than! With the closing of my last quest(Coughs) I've decided to try a comic book publisher quest! I've enjoyed the ones I've read so might as well throw in my hat.

This quest will rely on Superheroes, vigilantes, villains, etc. That you submit! Just throw around ideas and we can vote on them if we want them!

I do want to say that being a woman is hard mode, because this is the 60s... Do I need to say more? So if you want a harder quest go for that!

Besides that have fun! Use plans! Also we roll 1d100s for everything!

"You're crazy as shit you know that?" My good friend Bob said that to me as soon as I began telling him my plan. Didn't even get to the specifics of the hiring part.

"I mean really this is something I want to do, I've loved comic books since I was 5. It's the only thing that I'm interested in doing!"

"I'll do it on one condition. I get a 30 minute lunch break."

"Deal! Damn that's your only condition? I didn't even get to tell you about the pay." He simply grinned at me.

"I'll do it for any pay, I hate my job at the mill and I can't take much more. Besides I get to help you out, so why not?"

I grimaced at the mention of that dreadful paper mill. That place was full of fumes from all the chemicals, it'd kill you slowly. 8 hour shifts, no breaks, managers when they were there would treat everyone like shit, literal hell, yet people still worked there despite it all. Being poor with little food did wonders to motivate people.

He seemed to just relax his body "You want me to work the machines right? I can do that no problem. I could also get some others who want out of the mill, but I gotta ask, what's the plan?"

"I've thought about it and I'm going to give myself a month to do my first issue."

"That little time? You're one person you know that right? I mean have you even come up with the characters yet-you already have haven't you?" He saw my face and just sighed.

"Ok I get it I should give myself more time, but I've been waiting and wanting this for all my life… so yes I have already made some character concepts." It was my turn to sigh.
"I'm only doing 50-60 pages as I don't want to kill myself trying to do a 100 pages or something alone. I was thinking-

How many protagonists do you want for issue 1?(Each protagonist means one storyline dedicated to them.):

[]one: Yes I believe I can do one character. It might seem stupid but I'm confident that I can do it.(60 pages for one character)

[]Two: It gives me plenty of space while also allowing me to not put all my eggs in one basket.(30 pages for 2 characters)

[]Three: Gives me room for doing whatever I want and I can flesh out some character ideas.(20 pages for 3 characters)

[]Four: Pushing it just a bit, but I can get out that many with enough room for all of them to have equal time.(15 pages for 4 characters)

-about that many." He just nods while sitting back.

"I'll get some more people for the press, I'm sure that I can grab a couple willing to take a plunge."

Gain 3 printing laborers and 1 rotary printing press.
For every 3 laborers they cost 1 wealth per printing session. Paper costs 1 wealth.
Every month costs 1 wealth in bills.
Rotary printing press allows up to 10 wealth being generated a turn.

Back at the renovated warehouse…

Angelica Simmons was planning out some protagonists for the first issue.

Brainstorm some ideas. Don't vote on them yet, we do that next. I'll list the available choices(Ones you suggested) and have everyone vote on the ones they like.

For now however.
Choose 1:

[]Settings are important:
The background of both the character and the place they are in are very important.

[]Characters are important: The characters design, dialogue, direction, how they carry themselves etc. are very important.

Use a plan even with only 2 options!

I've decided to allow 1 reroll for our first issue, in the future it will rely entirely on your suggestions, details, ideas, etc. to make the rolls higher.

Got a question? Ask!

Make some protagonists!
+5 to character related rolls for this issue.

Three gives me enough room to do whatever I want and I can flesh out some ideas… So why can't I think of any?!

I look around the warehouse that was renovated enough for me to do basically everything I need. It's actually really nice.

What is required for making a character.

Absolutely required:
Name, Personality, Backstory/Origin, Powers and Abilities, Appearance (preferably not just a picture, but a written description)

Would make me feel better: Personal goals and motivations, Relationships, Likes/Dislikes, Location Notes

Not necessary but go ahead if you'd like to include them: Character archetypes, Design Notes/Reasoning, Where you'd like to take the character, Potential places/time-frame to introduce

Absolutely do not: Plagiarize, NSFW, Creepy gross stuff (of the genuine or unironic kind), etc. Use your common sense.

Make your protagonists!:

If you have more questions ask! Very short post, as I'm unwilling to suggest suggestions of my own. So it's up to you all to do that.

Anyway, have fun!

Also if you want you can make a story for said protagonists or at least an overview of one. Making an overview of one will let me make that an option ahead of time.

Fortune, magic, and werewolf’s!
Fortuna
Mr. Wizard
Will feral

Each character needs an individual plan. So Fortuna gets her own plan, Mr. Wizard gets his own plan, and will feral gets his own plan.
Once these are done, I roll for civilian design(If possible), background, and hero design. Then I will judge the heroes design and what bonuses or negatives the heroes give to the story they are in, all based on these rolls.

Even if there's not an option for a change for a certain thing, you can go ahead and write in what change you want!

Fortuna:

Fortuna was an interesting character, a character whose power was simple in design but made her an outsider from others. Being lucky sounded lame, until you realized that guns can jam if someones lucky enough, that piece of furniture can collapse if you're unlucky enough to not see the rot, that lightning could strike down on a foe if your that lucky.

Although I'm not really planning on having lightning strike an enemy if she's in a tough spot, that's a little too much and will not give the tension that I want.

Fortuna backstory/Civilian design:

Penny was simply born lucky and became luckier the older she got. As a 16 year old girl in L.A. she dreams of making it in Hollywood and so she joined her schools drama club and while out on a club field trip to popular tv show set an attempted murder occurs which Penny prevents.

Also being an outsider due to her good luck, her parents often neglected her in favor of her younger brother who they felt needed to be cared for more. Also due to her luck her peers are jealous of her so she has no close friends with the exception of her drama teacher.

That's what you had written down, but you could always do more. There's a lot to improve on and expand.

What does she wear when not in hero costume?(Civilian clothes).

[]Write in?

What was her school called? I never decided on that, probably important for future reference.

[]Write in?(Make one up or find a real one.)

I should describe the drama teacher. If he or she is pennys one close friend, I should give them more details than a background character.

[]An older woman in her 40s, she's Caucasian, 6 feet tall, and is slender in figure. She has an outgoing personality, very observant of her surroundings, and overall a good teacher.

[]Write in?

Should I add anything else? Change anything?(Current background has a -10 in rolls related to it, due to bland background and lack of depth. Recommend: Show feats of luck, describe family, show how much penny is neglected, etc.)

[]Write in?

Fortuna The hero:

What does her hero persona look like? Is she equipped with anything?

[]She has a simple fusion of a ballerina and martial arts suit. This suit is dark blue with gold streaks on the legs, the shoes are designed for quick movements and ballet dances. She has a side pocket with marbles that she can throw, which she will often use to cause unlucky or lucky accidents.

[]Write in?

What is her personality when in costume? How does she act?

[]Very loud, attention-seeking, and proud. She abuses her luck and is almost carefree while fighting, this is due to guns almost always jamming when pointed at her.

[]Write in?

Change her power a bit?(Not too big of changes, can't rewrite the entire power.)

[]She has the ability to imbue objects with luck or make them unlucky for a while!

[]Write in?

[]No change.

Add anything to her hero persona?(Currently hero persona gives +0 to rolls.)

[]Write in?

Mr. Wizard:

A magic character, it's always welcomed and dare I say a generalist of the occult arts sounds like a good idea! Although I could have him specialize more into banishment and capture as that is his job.

Mr. Wizard backstory:

A wizard he is, a graduate of Isle of Skye Academy for Magical Arts and Crafts, specializing to become a Banisher - one whose job is to track down dangerous and/or disruptive extra-and-intra planar entities, abjure them out of the plane of existence he inhabits, and close, seal or destroy their means of ingress into the said reality plane.
This is the kind of Work McFee family has been engaged in for centuries, and the reason he came to the States and Tennessee was to investigate the suspicious disappearance of his Niece Barbara-Ann.

Pretty in-depth, if I do say so myself! Although I should probably say what the general power level of entities he is capable of banishing.

[]Some street level entities that can range anywhere from goblins and bookies to at his best a single troll.

[]Write in?

His niece Barbara-Ann has gone missing, considering he is in the occult arts and so is his family it wouldn't be too far off to say she is capable of learning magic as well. So I could say his niece is a magic user in training?

[]His niece is a magic user in training.

[]His niece is mundane and so is the rest of his family. Only a few each generation can learn magic, despite its history of magic users.

[]Write in?

Got anything else to add?(Current bonus is +5 due to backstory being a good idea. Recommendation: None(Got nothing to recommend so good luck!))

[]Write in?

Mr. Wizard the hero/Civilian:

He appears clean shaven, his blond hair cut militarily short, 6'8 tall and 5'10 at the shoulder, this bonny lad is most definitely not what people would associate when they think of a wizard.

His powers consist of a wide array of magical spells, rituals, and tools, and when all else fails, fists that can knock out trolls in a single blow.

His custom-tailored clothes might mark him out as a fancy dandy, but his walking stick is a Banishing Rod, the pockets on his vest are vast and hold more than small warehouses, and his fetching boater hat can morph into a tiny hut with full amenities inside.

All very detailed, which is good, however I should describe some of the spells, rituals, and tools he can use. Should he be a pure generalist of all kinds of magic or should he specialize in certain areas, like capture and banishment magic?

[]He is a pure generalist! He has no one area he specializes in so he has a ton of small spells from each area!
-[]Describe some?(Need something to work with.)

[]He specializes in capture and banishment magic. He has a few big spells in this field he can use!
-[]Describe some?(Need something to work with.)

[]Write in?

Add anything else?(Current hero and civilian description gives +10 to rolls related to it, due to descriptive details. Recommendation: none(Got nothing!))

[]Write in?

Will feral:

In all honesty Will Feral was one of my favorites. It was a lightning werewolf for crying out loud! I'm thinking I can do a lot with the show not tell, whenever he's shown with the surrounding characters, I'm also wondering if I should make him near a town or city.

Will feral backstory:

Abandoned by his mother, he was raised by wolves; he spent his childhood learning how to stalk his prey and hunt them; eventually he became one with the Great wolf spirit.
He wishes to protect his home from anyone seeking to harm it or his family.

It was short, really short, It's simple but I can probably turn this into something good or even great.

I need to decide if there was any reason or depth to being abandoned.

My first idea is to make him be born with teeth, claws, and sharp ears, something that could be a reason for abandoning this child, which I could go multiple ways with.

For instance I could make it that the mother wanted to protect the child from others who wanted to kill the 'devil spawn' or make it that the mother agreed but was unwilling to kill the child. Either way that sounds like a good idea.

[]He was born with sharp teeth, claws, and weird sharp ears. His mother, fearing that she gave birth to a devil spawn, but unwilling to kill her own child, left him in the wild.

[]Write in?(Don't wanna go in depth? Write that in. Want another reason? Write that in.)

I never did decide on where he lives besides a forest with wolves. I might as well decide right now where he is and if he's next to a city. A spirit forest somewhere in Alaska where all those Inuits live or something, probably near one of those big rivers?

[]The spirit forest. The forest entrance appears somewhere within a 300 mile radius smack dab in the center of Kobuk valley national park(It's not a national park then, but roll with it.). This forest is often hidden and poachers often try to find it to hunt the spirits within.

[]Write in?

Got anything else to add?(Current background has a +10 in rolls related to it due to unique background. Recommended: Has he interacted with humans if any, how does he deal with hunters that hunt in his home, How old is he exactly, etc.)

[]Write in?

Will Feral 'Wolfen' the hero:

Honestly just looking kind of like razor from genshin impact

A smaller white haired boy/man that is about 5 feet tall, has lean strong muscles that are compacted into his form, and constantly has a flat look on his face.

I forgot to say what his werewolf form looks like! I need to do that right now, I'm thinking of a pure white werewolf with bulging muscles or a black werewolf that has white lightning bolt patterns in his fur. Both of them will be about 8 feet tall.

[]In his werewolf form he is 8 feet tall, white in color, strong durable muscles that are steel-like in hardness, practically bulging beneath his fur, teeth and claws that practically radiate how sharp they are.

[]In his werewolf form he is 8 feet tall, is black in color with white lightning bolt patterns in its fur, strong durable muscles that are steel-like in hardness, slender in figure that somehow hides said muscles, teeth and claws that practically radiate how sharp they are.

[]Write in?(Describe the werewolf form.)

I've never described how the spirit and Will Feral work in harmony… I should get on that.

[]Write in?

Anything else to add?(Current hero description gives a +15 to rolls related to it. Recommended: Describe how he acts in werewolf form compared to human form, describe some more weaknesses, what is his fighting style specifically, etc.)

[]Write in?

I'll do the rolls of these characters in the next post, which we will then work on the first story aka first issue! So if you have villain ideas go ahead and put them out there so I can put them in the vault! Make sure to list which hero you want them to fight or how their used.

Good luck! Have fun! Oh and remember use plans for each character not all at once. One plan for each.

Got questions? Ask!

-[X]Very loud, attention-seeking, and proud. She abuses her luck and is almost carefree while fighting, this is due to guns almost always jamming when pointed at her.
-[X]No change.

Fortuna rolls:

Civilian look: 42+5(Bonus to characters)= 47!

Hero look: 34+10(Good costume description)+5(Bonus to characters)= 49!

Backstory: 34+5(Bonus to characters)-10(Bland background)= 29!

Power design: 15+5(Bonus to characters)= 20!

1 reroll is allowed per character. Choose 1:

[]Civilian look

[]Hero look

[]Backstory

[]Power design

Well then, this was a very below average character. I'm almost embarrassed to show this as my first concept.

The civilian and hero looks nice actually, if average, for the clothes I made sure to get the school's insignia on there, to show she's wanting to go that route, also to add flavor. The thing is that I probably haven't put enough details to make her stand out too much. Which I can fix with the focus of the panel to show her at the forefront, but that's still bad.

For the hero looks, the costume looks great in design, but again it seemingly doesn't mesh too well, probably need to add a few more details to help it come together seamlessly, to give that graceful look I want, but besides that it seems fine for now.

Then we have the backstory, it's normal in design, which would be fine as long as I can put my own spin on it, but whenever I write down the basics it looks like no effort was put in, like I just didn't care. I definitely need to put in some more details or possibly change up some things I'm having trouble explaining. Otherwise this will definitely be a obvious weak point.

Than we have the power design, it's honestly the worst part of this, luck has so many things that it can do, but when it comes to showing cause and effect or what kind of effects this could have in fights, I'm drawing a blank. That's all it is, I'm drawing a blank on what makes this character a superhero.

Final time to add details to fortuna(You can change or add anything, except the core principles of this character):

[]Write in?

Have a villain for the storyline?(Optional but recommended, if used make sure to incorporate into storyline.):

[]Clyde Hardin aka Corpse Bandit
Backstory: Clyde, a known ruffian with a penchant for petty crime, mugged a young and seemingly weak Romani teen. However a fight broke out between the two and he ended up stabbing the teen who later died. The Romani family wanting revenge cursed Clyde to immortality until he lives what would have been the deceased teens natural life span. He can't be killed although he feels pain and can be wounded. Every physical wound won't heal at the surface level making him look ghastlier with every cut and gash.

Appearance: White 20 year old male, 6'2, blond Pompadour hair and blue eyes. Wearing a popped collar denim vest over a black t-shirt, jeans, and boots. He wears a bandana over his face when committing crime.

Personality: He's on the dumber side of things, arrogant, selfish, and careless. After the curse he's even more arrogant and even vain due to thinking he's unkillable. He becomes more deranged the worse he looks.

Powers: Limited Immortality upto the dead teens natural life, super strength due suppressing the bodies mental inhibitor that controls strength. Healing though not surface level.

Weakness: Can be bound, trapped, and knocked unconscious.

[]Write in?

Fortuna Basic storyline
(Make a basic overview of your storyline like the listed one, we go in-depth next turn. The storyline given has a +5 to storyline. Just telling you now.):

[]Two men with guns attempt to kill her drama teacher. She jumped in front of the gun, which through her luck caused the gun to jam on itself. One of the gunmen panicked, running away tripping on a loose floorboard which led to hitting the ground with a bang. The small shake led to a nearby shelf's leg collapsing from rot, landing on said gunman. The other gunman attempts to use his gun as a club as his gun jams as well, which through a few small lucky events, Penny will defeat him.

[]Write in?

Well I've decided to just do 3 parts, one for each protagonist. Doing this so we can focus on one at a time, while also not doing what happened last time, which was full of stuff that was daunting and no one wanted to do that.

Also yes, fortuna rolled that badly. My hopes for a better roll were bashed repeatedly-

"Oh this time it will be a good one… no this one! Or this one! Oh crap."

Also by core principles I mean the basis of the power(She's lucky), her goal(Famous), and that's it.

Alright than have fun! Use plans! Got questions? Ask!

Fortuna's story! Issue #1
Fortuna current rolls:

Power design: 88+5(Bonus to characters)= 93!

Civilian look: 42+5(Bonus to characters)= 47!

Hero look: 34+10(Good costume description)+5(Bonus to characters)= 49!

Backstory: 34+5(Bonus to characters)-10(Bland background)= 29!

Fortuna currently gives +10 to dynamic scenes(Due to power design), -10 to dialogue(Due to mediocre backstory, actually -5 due to MC bonus.), and when storyline is above or at 80, remove negative disadvantages.

Fortuna storyline issue #1:

Two men with guns attempt to kill her drama teacher.

Overview of base storyline: 65+5(A decent storyline plan)+5(Good writing bonus)= 75!

Crooks/villains design: 55+5(Bonus to characters)= 60!

Current base storyline gives a +5 to dynamic scenes(Decent forethought into initial engagement), villains will get a +5 to character art roll(Will be the same roll but they just get a +5), and the bonuses only apply if coloring roll gets above or at 50.

Add anything to the villains?(How do they look, do they have symbols from a known gang, etc.):

[]Write in?

[]No change

Hey!!! Ok real quick, the basis of making a story as in panel to panel is this:

You describe what happens on each page, does not have to be very descriptive(Don't let that stop you however). In other words for the Fortuna story you will describe in 2-4 sentences minimum, either per page or set of 3+ pages of comic book. I'll do the rest.

Example:

Page 8, 9, 10, and 11.
In an act of desperation to save her only friend, her teacher, Fortuna jumps in front of the gun about to be fired. In doing so, her near unbeatable luck triggers, making the gun jam on itself. The gunman panics and runs past his fellow gunman, than trips on a loose floorboard hitting the ground with a bang.
This makes a shelf nearby with a rotten leg collapse forward, falling onto the gunman trapping him. The other gunman, surprised by this, fired his gun at Fortuna, but it jammed as well, surprising him, causing him to yell insults at the gun and Fortuna. He runs at fortuna wielding the gun like a club.

Fortuna attempts to dodge the first swing of the criminal, which leads her to stumbling forward instead of backwards. This let her dodge underneath the swing, getting behind the gunman. With her quick reaction she attempted to kick the gunman from behind, the gunman tried to turn around but seemingly slipped on the same loose floorboard that the previous gunman tripped on, so despite not falling from the slip, this let Fortuna land a solid kick to his gut.
The gunman was mostly unharmed, however he was now very wary of the woman in front of him, Fortuna. Surprisingly the teacher has not run away, instead she is at the door calling for help. Looking frantically back at her student, who she believes could be hurt or worse, die!

Fortuna storyline(20 pages, that's what you have. Both options can be chosen together.):

[]Write in?(List the page number.)

[]Devil's deal(I will write the story, BUT you take a -1d20 to the comic book writing rolls. All of them. Note: Can be taken with write in, write in all you want and I'll fill in the holes for you. This will reduce the negative roll depending on how many pages you do. Hint: There's 20 pages and a -1d20…)

Well then! That's much better rolls compared to last time, although the character that is fortuna has some disadvantages due to her bad/bland backstory. She avoids an advantage or disadvantage to looks due to how average she is in that aspect. Luckily(Heh) she got lucky with the reroll! Ironic I know.

I included the devil's deal option because I realized while 20 or fewer pages, which is 2-4 sentences each page, might not be too much, when we get up to a 100+ pages a comic where each character could have anywhere from 15-45 pages or more dedicated to them. I decided I should include an option that will help fill in holes in a story.

Good time to mention that I don't expect you to write all 20 pages(40-80 sentences) at once so you can write in sections if you want, and constantly edit your plan when you think you have an idea for a page, where we gradually get to that point of completion. Don't let this stop you from writing however much you want. You can just write in ideas for pages without voting on them.

So get them ideas going!

Got questions? Ask! Have fun! Oh and plans as always, although you can write the story separately from the other votes, but the final storyline should be written in plan form.
