Comic book publisher: Make a splash!

@Pokemon0406 hey what country, city, or area do you prefer Will feral to be from? I was thinking somewhere cold like Alaska, but I might as well ask you.

I'm going to put in a write in option for which country, but I might as well ask.

Fortune, magic, and werewolf’s!
Fortuna
Mr. Wizard
Will feral

Each character needs an individual plan. So Fortuna gets her own plan, Mr. Wizard gets his own plan, and will feral gets his own plan.
Once these are done, I roll for civilian design(If possible), background, and hero design. Then I will judge the heroes design and what bonuses or negatives the heroes give to the story they are in, all based on these rolls.

Even if there's not an option for a change for a certain thing, you can go ahead and write in what change you want!

Fortuna:

Fortuna was an interesting character, a character whose power was simple in design but made her an outsider from others. Being lucky sounded lame, until you realized that guns can jam if someones lucky enough, that piece of furniture can collapse if you're unlucky enough to not see the rot, that lightning could strike down on a foe if your that lucky.

Although I'm not really planning on having lightning strike an enemy if she's in a tough spot, that's a little too much and will not give the tension that I want.

Fortuna backstory/Civilian design:

Penny was simply born lucky and became luckier the older she got. As a 16 year old girl in L.A. she dreams of making it in Hollywood and so she joined her schools drama club and while out on a club field trip to popular tv show set an attempted murder occurs which Penny prevents.

Also being an outsider due to her good luck, her parents often neglected her in favor of her younger brother who they felt needed to be cared for more. Also due to her luck her peers are jealous of her so she has no close friends with the exception of her drama teacher.

That's what you had written down, but you could always do more. There's a lot to improve on and expand.

What does she wear when not in hero costume?(Civilian clothes).

[]Write in?

What was her school called? I never decided on that, probably important for future reference.

[]Write in?(Make one up or find a real one.)

I should describe the drama teacher. If he or she is pennys one close friend, I should give them more details than a background character.

[]An older woman in her 40s, she's Caucasian, 6 feet tall, and is slender in figure. She has an outgoing personality, very observant of her surroundings, and overall a good teacher.

[]Write in?

Should I add anything else? Change anything?(Current background has a -10 in rolls related to it, due to bland background and lack of depth. Recommend: Show feats of luck, describe family, show how much penny is neglected, etc.)

[]Write in?

Fortuna The hero:

What does her hero persona look like? Is she equipped with anything?

[]She has a simple fusion of a ballerina and martial arts suit. This suit is dark blue with gold streaks on the legs, the shoes are designed for quick movements and ballet dances. She has a side pocket with marbles that she can throw, which she will often use to cause unlucky or lucky accidents.

[]Write in?

What is her personality when in costume? How does she act?

[]Very loud, attention-seeking, and proud. She abuses her luck and is almost carefree while fighting, this is due to guns almost always jamming when pointed at her.

[]Write in?

Change her power a bit?(Not too big of changes, can't rewrite the entire power.)

[]She has the ability to imbue objects with luck or make them unlucky for a while!

[]Write in?

[]No change.

Add anything to her hero persona?(Currently hero persona gives +0 to rolls.)

[]Write in?

Mr. Wizard:

A magic character, it's always welcomed and dare I say a generalist of the occult arts sounds like a good idea! Although I could have him specialize more into banishment and capture as that is his job.

Mr. Wizard backstory:

A wizard he is, a graduate of Isle of Skye Academy for Magical Arts and Crafts, specializing to become a Banisher - one whose job is to track down dangerous and/or disruptive extra-and-intra planar entities, abjure them out of the plane of existence he inhabits, and close, seal or destroy their means of ingress into the said reality plane.
This is the kind of Work McFee family has been engaged in for centuries, and the reason he came to the States and Tennessee was to investigate the suspicious disappearance of his Niece Barbara-Ann.

Pretty in-depth, if I do say so myself! Although I should probably say what the general power level of entities he is capable of banishing.

[]Some street level entities that can range anywhere from goblins and bookies to at his best a single troll.

[]Write in?

His niece Barbara-Ann has gone missing, considering he is in the occult arts and so is his family it wouldn't be too far off to say she is capable of learning magic as well. So I could say his niece is a magic user in training?

[]His niece is a magic user in training.

[]His niece is mundane and so is the rest of his family. Only a few each generation can learn magic, despite its history of magic users.

[]Write in?

Got anything else to add?(Current bonus is +5 due to backstory being a good idea. Recommendation: None(Got nothing to recommend so good luck!))

[]Write in?

Mr. Wizard the hero/Civilian:

He appears clean shaven, his blond hair cut militarily short, 6'8 tall and 5'10 at the shoulder, this bonny lad is most definitely not what people would associate when they think of a wizard.

His powers consist of a wide array of magical spells, rituals, and tools, and when all else fails, fists that can knock out trolls in a single blow.

His custom-tailored clothes might mark him out as a fancy dandy, but his walking stick is a Banishing Rod, the pockets on his vest are vast and hold more than small warehouses, and his fetching boater hat can morph into a tiny hut with full amenities inside.

All very detailed, which is good, however I should describe some of the spells, rituals, and tools he can use. Should he be a pure generalist of all kinds of magic or should he specialize in certain areas, like capture and banishment magic?

[]He is a pure generalist! He has no one area he specializes in so he has a ton of small spells from each area!
-[]Describe some?(Need something to work with.)

[]He specializes in capture and banishment magic. He has a few big spells in this field he can use!
-[]Describe some?(Need something to work with.)

[]Write in?

Add anything else?(Current hero and civilian description gives +10 to rolls related to it, due to descriptive details. Recommendation: none(Got nothing!))

[]Write in?

Will feral:

In all honesty Will Feral was one of my favorites. It was a lightning werewolf for crying out loud! I'm thinking I can do a lot with the show not tell, whenever he's shown with the surrounding characters, I'm also wondering if I should make him near a town or city.

Will feral backstory:

Abandoned by his mother, he was raised by wolves; he spent his childhood learning how to stalk his prey and hunt them; eventually he became one with the Great wolf spirit.
He wishes to protect his home from anyone seeking to harm it or his family.

It was short, really short, It's simple but I can probably turn this into something good or even great.

I need to decide if there was any reason or depth to being abandoned.

My first idea is to make him be born with teeth, claws, and sharp ears, something that could be a reason for abandoning this child, which I could go multiple ways with.

For instance I could make it that the mother wanted to protect the child from others who wanted to kill the 'devil spawn' or make it that the mother agreed but was unwilling to kill the child. Either way that sounds like a good idea.

[]He was born with sharp teeth, claws, and weird sharp ears. His mother, fearing that she gave birth to a devil spawn, but unwilling to kill her own child, left him in the wild.

[]Write in?(Don't wanna go in depth? Write that in. Want another reason? Write that in.)

I never did decide on where he lives besides a forest with wolves. I might as well decide right now where he is and if he's next to a city. A spirit forest somewhere in Alaska where all those Inuits live or something, probably near one of those big rivers?

[]The spirit forest. The forest entrance appears somewhere within a 300 mile radius smack dab in the center of Kobuk valley national park(It's not a national park then, but roll with it.). This forest is often hidden and poachers often try to find it to hunt the spirits within.

[]Write in?

Got anything else to add?(Current background has a +10 in rolls related to it due to unique background. Recommended: Has he interacted with humans if any, how does he deal with hunters that hunt in his home, How old is he exactly, etc.)

[]Write in?

Will Feral 'Wolfen' the hero:

Honestly just looking kind of like razor from genshin impact

A smaller white haired boy/man that is about 5 feet tall, has lean strong muscles that are compacted into his form, and constantly has a flat look on his face.

I forgot to say what his werewolf form looks like! I need to do that right now, I'm thinking of a pure white werewolf with bulging muscles or a black werewolf that has white lightning bolt patterns in his fur. Both of them will be about 8 feet tall.

[]In his werewolf form he is 8 feet tall, white in color, strong durable muscles that are steel-like in hardness, practically bulging beneath his fur, teeth and claws that practically radiate how sharp they are.

[]In his werewolf form he is 8 feet tall, is black in color with white lightning bolt patterns in its fur, strong durable muscles that are steel-like in hardness, slender in figure that somehow hides said muscles, teeth and claws that practically radiate how sharp they are.

[]Write in?(Describe the werewolf form.)

I've never described how the spirit and Will Feral work in harmony… I should get on that.

[]Write in?

Anything else to add?(Current hero description gives a +15 to rolls related to it. Recommended: Describe how he acts in werewolf form compared to human form, describe some more weaknesses, what is his fighting style specifically, etc.)

[]Write in?

I'll do the rolls of these characters in the next post, which we will then work on the first story aka first issue! So if you have villain ideas go ahead and put them out there so I can put them in the vault! Make sure to list which hero you want them to fight or how their used.

Good luck! Have fun! Oh and remember use plans for each character not all at once. One plan for each.

Got questions? Ask!

Hey quick question, is this at all confusing for y'all? If it is, I can separate these 3 into separate posts.

I'm just wondering for future reference if I should separate multiple heroes or villains into separate posts.

It's a bit daunting to see all that in one post. So yea in the future(or now if you want) you might want to separate them.

Can you put them in order? And in a plan? Also specialist doesn't tell me anything, you don't have to include the spells he has(I'll do that at this point) but it'd be nice to tell me what kind of specialist. If you don't it might as well be random.

Can you put it like this so it is actually in plan format.

[] Plan Fortuna Dos
-[]Write in: T-shirts and Overalls
-[]Write in: Shining Stars Academy
-[]An older woman in her 40s, she's Caucasian, 6 feet tall, and is slender in figure. She has an outgoing personality, very observant of her surroundings, and overall a good teacher.

Also in the future I'll probably separate them so it's not so daunting.

I know this is old, but put it in a plan so I know which one your voting for. I know it's will feral but in the future your gonna need to put this many choices for specific characters in plan. Otherwise I won't know who your voting for, especially when you write in stuff.

[X] Mr Wizard
-[X] Street level entities that can range anywhere from a dozen goblins and bookies to a couple of trolls.
--[X] At his best, with a couple of days of preparation time, to craft the appropriate ritual and whatnot, he can safely deal with up to a lesser fae courtier or a hundred-year-old vampire.
---[X] anything beyond that, he needs outside support such as other magic-users, rival supernatural entities, or superplanar spirits such as gods (he primarily deals with Celtic ad nordic pantheons), angelic host or Djinn
---[X] He is notably ill-equipped to deal with enemy Human magic-users, and there must resort to guile, cunning and naked force.
-[X]His niece is a magic user in training.
--[X] Most of their other relatives are magic aware but incapable of using magic. Only a few each generation can learn magic, despite its history of magic users.
--[X] When angry, annoyed or enraged, both Bairre and Barbara (once she shows up) tend to swear by the name of great uncle Reggie (Reginald Euan).
-[X] He specializes in capture and banishment magic. He has a few big spells in this field he can use!
--[X] Describe some: Banishment by Oak and Ash - Speaks Dair ag Nion and points at the inhuman foe. A semi-homing ray extends from Mr. Wizards hand and strikes the foe throwing them for 5-6 feet and knocking them prone. Depending on the size of his foes, can hit multiple smaller opponents. Visibly strains and is left winded when hitting opponents bigger/more massive than him, or if the opponent has notable resistance and/or resiliance against magic. Does nothing against humans or terrestrial animals. If channeled through his banishing rod, the range becomes mele, but the power of the spell increases many times - e.g. human sized target gets thrown as much as 100 yards; Binding by Wine and Willow - Speaks Muin ag Sail and points at person or object. Spectral wines erupt from out of seemingly nowhere and tie up what has been pointed at bound objects or people are subjected to a limited form of telekinesis; Delving by Hawthorne and Blackthorne - speaks Uath ag Straif and gains sense of he direction and distance to the nearest planar gate/breach. By adding Rowan to the spell - Uath ag Sraif ag Luis, he also gains sense of the nature of the breach/gate and approximately when the last time anything/one passed through it.
--[X]Basically, use Ogham runes and invent spells as necessary, keeping in mind that spell 'threshold levels' are three and seven runes, and Bairre can only go up to four runes on his own (Barbara only one). The more runes used, the stronger the spell

--[X] When crafting rituals, runes are carved, inscribed, built, etc into and out of natural materials - plant and animal parts, unprocessed/uncut ores and crystals, natural beeswax, handmade clay and cement, that kind of thing, and time of day is important rather than astronomical/astrological influences (First light of day, high noon, twilight, second hour after midnight, etc...)

Fortune, magic, and werewolves! 3 hours.
We have a plan for each character, so I'll give this 3 more hours for last minute additions or changes.

If anyone wants more time please tell me. I'm willing to extend the time.

Also next one we are picking a villain for each storyline and 3 basic storylines before we go more in-depth on said storyline the post after that.

So start making villains if you will. Remember organizations are allowed for villains.

For example: The 'Ausk' is an organization dedicated to hunting lesser wild spirits. They have recently learned of a 'Spirit forest' in Alaska, that they wish to investigate and possibly start hunting in.
They have weapons ranging from revolvers, hunting rifles, or even shotguns, all enhanced with anti spirit ammunition.
Almost all members of Ausk are non-powered individuals-

You get my point. Also yes that is my idea for will feral villain, didn't want to give you an entire idea so there's the basics.

The specifics!
Plan Mr Wizard wins of the 2, due to being in plan format and the fact that it's a great plan.

Anyway I'll be writing the next post up, probably not today but possibly today, with a write in option for each hero for both their villain and basic story to go with said villain. For once I'll suggest some villains but I won't make up the basic concept of the storyline.

Oh and I'm probably separating them into two posts. 3 posts seem to much but I think two will do.

Edit: Oh and the rolls will be going up the first post with 1 villain and storyline, the second post will be just the villains and storylines.
Scheduled vote count started by Blackangel on Oct 17, 2022 at 6:29 PM, finished with 10 posts and 4 votes.

General Bionic M3cha
Alias: Donald Mechan Smithson
Species: Human/Cyborg
Backstory: For as long as Donald remembered logic and facts that were true were all that mattered in the world. After all a cousin of his was a minor worker that was working on the Manhattan Project. Then the fact that the Atomic Bomb was enhanced with MAGIC of all things was something in his mind was unforgivable. The power of the atom and the ability to properly handle it with pure science should have heralded a new age of technology for the world. But because of the use of the thrice damned MAGIC has created a mockery of the state of the world, everyone is so enamored with the so called Magi-tech that seems to make ludicrous shortcuts in all fields of technology be it computing or biological. His hatred for this false science finally erupted when he was fired from the research institute for not jumping on the Magi-tech bandwagon. After a explosive surge of anger, he was hit with a moment of artic cold realization of how he can change this. He will show the world that this worthless Magi-tech is pathetic when compared to the sheer power of SCIENCE! Armed with a variety of either regular science, future tech science and MAD SCIENCE he seeks to reestablish the what in his slightly fractured mind the proper state of the world. With science guiding mankind to the stars, with magic left behind in history as a simple fad.

Appearance: A white guy with dark black hair that is always messy. He is usually in either his custom mad scientist outfit or his power armor. He looks to be about mid 50's with a slightly wrinkled face. Has a habit of wearing a monocle on his right eye due to a childhood injury weakening it, later replaced with a cybernetic eye. Blue eye(left) Gold( right).

Personality: A mentally damaged scientist/tinker with a massive hatred for anything to do with true magic, slieght of hand and stage craft is acceptable in his mind because they rely on tricking the human mind and misdirection.

Powers

Ever changing and ever modding: Donald does not believe that perfection can ever be truly reached. Everything he designs and builds is always for a intial foe or problem, when faced with unknown challenges he adapts and makes changes to his gear and forces.

Arise, MY ROBO ARMY: Has a large and varied numbers and types of robots, from salvage and ♻️ resource bots, to his state of the art combat platforms.

Power Armor for everyone in my Army including me: Has unique power armor designs for his organic henchmen and minions. Anything less than anti tank rifles have no effect on the actual armor plating.

TECHNOLOGY OF THE FUTURE: lasers, mecha`s, power armor the standard gear set of any sci-fi organization.

MAD SCIENCE FOR THE SCIENCE GODS!: weird tech, mutants, and just general mad science.

Cyborg: enhanced strength and agility

Weaknesses

From rough draft to finished design: Everything he makes starts out as bare bones designs and abilities, sometimes prone to malfunctions. Weak initially but can escalate to be stronger.

Achilles heel in the power armor: there are joints and exposed gears in the power armors can be damaged to impair usability.

Quality and Quantity is expensive and time consuming: there is somewhat realistic expenses to building and maintaining his gear and troops.

Standard human now, later cyborg: initially starts out with the standard human weakness, later when a cyborg he develops a weakness to electrical attacks if not properly grounded.

Direction: A escalating villian that starts out somewhat weak initially, but can easily grow into a major threat later on. Ever changing power levels, that can be explained by either winning something or suffering a brutal loss in combat.

Suggestions for bot designs and minions.

Going to copy paste characters from a previous comic quest that got discontinued. Prepare for info dump.

Fortuna Villain: Clyde Hardin aka Corpse Bandit

Backstory: Clyde, a known ruffian with a penchant for petty crime, mugged a young and seemingly weak Romani teen. However a fight broke out between the two and he ended up stabbing the teen who later died. The Romani family wanting revenge cursed Clyde to immortality until he lives what would have been the deceased teens natural life span. He can't be killed although he feels pain and can be wounded. Every physical wound won't heal at the surface level making him look ghastlier with every cut and gash.

Appearance: White 20 year old male, 6'2, blond Pompadour hair and blue eyes. Wearing a popped collar denim vest over a black t-shirt, jeans, and boots. He wears a bandana over his face when committing crime.

Personality: He's on the dumber side of things, arrogant, selfish, and careless. After the curse he's even more arrogant and even vain due to thinking he's unkillable. He becomes more deranged the worse he looks.

Powers: Limited Immortality upto the dead teens natural life, super strength due suppressing the bodies mental inhibitor that controls strength. Healing though not surface level.

Weakness: Can be bound, trapped, and knocked unconscious.

Group: United Anti United States Task Force

Name: Doctor Eugene Koala

Summary: No knows how an ordinary koala managed to obtain super intelligence, nor why that he is as evil as he is adorable. Knowing that the United States offer the biggest challenge for his plans of greater criminal enterprises he has loosely aligned himself and his forces with the Soviet Union in order to fight the USA and their allies. Has been known to brutally mutilate anyone who calls him cute, ( how the heck did he managed to fit that monkey wrench up that man's...)

Appearance: look up Professor Koala by Overmind in Men of Tomorrow comic quest for appearance.

Role in group: leader, strategist and primary tech support

Powers: decent shot with both a laser pistol and rifle, super intelligence, magi tech expert, disorienting roar.

Weaknesses: small in stature, prideful, arrogant, low defenses without any armor or shields in use.

Additional gear: all members of this task force are equipped with two key items that allow them the ability to be a reoccurring and dangerous threat to our dear heroes. They are the holographic bio body golem and body swap teleporter. The holographic bio body golem will be our version of the Life Model Decoys in use by Marvel. When captured and in prison during the night the member of the task force is swapped with a HBBG and return to their nefarious plans, the HBBG can remain stable for any amount of time but when discovered as a fake, it rapidly decays into boring sludge.

Primary cannon fodder minions

The newly reborn grand EMU ARMY

Essentially a massive army of cybernetic emus with a variety of weapons. Originally my idea back on Ambit's Men of Tomorrow Comic quest, but the credit went to Overmind with his Emu Legion, even though I pitched the idea 2 weeks before hand in that quest but I digress.

Armed with a set of secondary tri claw manipulators under their wings the emus are generally equipped with a wide assortment of gear and weaponry, from non lethal neural disruption beam weapons that knock out the target to a standard AK 47.

When defeated they use their augmented abilities to evade capture.

Mage of Chaos
"In the name of chaos, let's have some fun."
Civilian name: Iribeus Avaar
Species: Human???
Gender: Presumed male
Age: &÷?#%=?
Appearance: a tall ambiguous figure in a dark purple and black variant of the FF8 Dark mage with silver highlights. Wields a twisted staff with a multicolored flame atop it.
Status: Opposing villain with adjustable power scaling
Personality: Whimsical, slight sociopath, eccentric
Background: A mysterious and extremely powerful magic user that has a mostly unknown background. Loves to create or at the very least aid in any act that will cause chaos in other people's lives. His magic and powers are usually represented by the multicolored flames at the top of his wizard hat and staff( note the flames change color often and can take different abnormal forms). With the recent rise in a new generation of heros and do gooders, along with the fact that the secret magic has been revealed to the world he needs to show these newcomers that they have barely scratched the surface of what magic can do. Has a tendency to limit his powers and strength relatively to his opponents.

[]Hero look

Well then, this was a very below average character. I'm almost embarrassed to show this as my first concept.

The civilian and hero looks nice actually, if average, for the clothes I made sure to get the school's insignia on there, to show she's wanting to go that route, also to add flavor. The thing is that I probably haven't put enough details to make her stand out too much. Which I can fix with the focus of the panel to show her at the forefront, but that's still bad.

For the hero looks, the costume looks great in design, but again it seemingly doesn't mesh too well, probably need to add a few more details to help it come together seamlessly, to give that graceful look I want, but besides that it seems fine for now.

Then we have the backstory, it's normal in design, which would be fine as long as I can put my own spin on it, but whenever I write down the basics it looks like no effort was put in, like I just didn't care. I definitely need to put in some more details or possibly change up some things I'm having trouble explaining. Otherwise this will definitely be a obvious weak point.

Than we have the power design, it's honestly the worst part of this, luck has so many things that it can do, but when it comes to showing cause and effect or what kind of effects this could have in fights, I'm drawing a blank. That's all it is, I'm drawing a blank on what makes this character a superhero.

Final time to add details to fortuna(You can change or add anything, except the core principles of this character):

[]Write in?

Have a villain for the storyline?(Optional but recommended, if used make sure to incorporate into storyline.):

[]Clyde Hardin aka Corpse Bandit

Fortuna Basic storyline
(Make a basic overview of your storyline like the listed one, we go in-depth next turn. The storyline given has a +5 to storyline. Just telling you now.):

[]Two men with guns attempt to kill her drama teacher. She jumped in front of the gun, which through her luck caused the gun to jam on itself. One of the gunmen panicked, running away tripping on a loose floorboard which led to hitting the ground with a bang. The small shake led to a nearby shelf's leg collapsing from rot, landing on said gunman. The other gunman attempts to use his gun as a club as his gun jams as well, which through a few small lucky events, Penny will defeat him.

[]Write in?

Well I've decided to just do 3 parts, one for each protagonist. Doing this so we can focus on one at a time, while also not doing what happened last time, which was full of stuff that was daunting and no one wanted to do that.

Also yes, fortuna rolled that badly. My hopes for a better roll were bashed repeatedly-

"Oh this time it will be a good one… no this one! Or this one! Oh crap."

Also by core principles I mean the basis of the power(She's lucky), her goal(Famous), and that's it.

Alright than have fun! Use plans! Got questions? Ask!

this plan is good. the looks can be improved later we just starting and bland backstory can be made better with good powers.

I like to imagine he can check his luck at anytime, so when we are about to confront him or something and he checks his luck, it's like a 0 or a -1. I'd think that would be pretty funny…

Idea: How open would y'all be to making part of her power be the ability to passively gather luck from her surroundings? It won't be enough to change anybody's luck majorly, more so this is to give a reason why she has gotten luckier over the years. It also opens the possibility of her training it or discovering that in the future.

I honestly had this pop into my head and thought "That'd be a great idea! I could give some bonus points to both backstory and power design!"

Up to y'all however, it'd give a +5 to both backstory and power design, which I think we could use, with a chance in the future to increase the power design roll whenever we decide she trains enough to improve this into something useable. Might be a while on that last one to be honest, because it'd have to make sense in the story.

Also love the villain organization idea. Quick question on that front. You said "power sets" so does that mean that the leaders are all supers? Or just near human peak in that area?

If so could you tell me how powerful their powers are? Or do you want to give me the wheel on that front? Always nice to get these details for story bonuses in the future.

you can decide i'm not sure on how strong to make them. Silver is super strong though how strong is best decided by what is needed.
