Hello! I decided to start another quest.
In this quest, you are a student at Claremont Academy in the Earth Prime setting, the primary setting for Mutants and Masterminds, the RPG. Claremont is a private school that's basically Xavier's school for the gifted if it was run by a retired Bruce Wayne, not that anyone knows the heroic past of the headmaster. You can find information about Mutants and Masterminds here:

d20HeroSRD

The starting character will be PL 8, and using some of the optional starting rules from the Hero High book. Once you pick your power source, and highest starting attribute, I'll make a set of characters for you to choose from.

Issue 2: Who are you?
[x] Intelligence
[x] Technology / [x] Training

[x] Aaron York
-You were always a cut above the rest of your classmates. Even at a young age, your genius was evident, but it also scared people. While your peers were reading Harry Potter, you were reading War and Peace. While they were watching cartoons, you were watching news reports from across the world. Your parents did the best they could, but they just didn't have the resources to help you excel. You were a kid from Lincoln, the worst neighborhood in all of Freedom City. If you were born someone else, you probably would be graduating from college at this point, but instead, for your middle school graduation, you got a super-villain attack, which you managed to thwart with a well aimed throw to knock down the basketball hoop. A simple matter of physics, but one that got attention from Duncan Summers, the headmaster of Claremont Academy. You were special, and now you could be in an environment to foster that.

[x] Hannah Davis
-Ever since you were a child, you've been obsessed with mystery novels. Your peers always thought you were a weirdo, but you were content with that. Sherlock Holmes, Nancy Drew, those were your friends. So when there was a kidnapping at your school, one of the popular girls, you sprang into action. It was the right thing to do to help her, even if she had bullied you, it was what Nancy Drew would do at least. So you tracked her down, following leads that the police couldn't discover, and reported her location, saving her life. Then, you received an offer from Duncan Summers. Your investigative abilities were of a caliber not seen in most professional detectives, and they were enough to get you into Claremont Academy, should you so choose. Will you do better in this school, surrounded by people with powers? Will you finally be able to make some friends, and help people?

[x] Eli Goldberg
-You were always obsessed with learning how things work. Your father was a clock-maker, and a high end one, he was the guy they called when they needed to adjust the big clock at the City Hall. That, unfortunately, is what led him to his death, as he happened to be there during and attack by the Crime League, who were hoping to take the mayor hostage. When the insides of the clock fell, he was crushed, and so were your spirits. You decided, then and there, that you would make sure nobody had to go through what you did. And so, you turned your talent for figuring how things work to machines and engineering. When you graduated from Middle School, you had finished your prototype, the X-47 Battle Armor. Capable of enhancing your muscles, and repelling bullets. Combined with your trained skill with weapons, you were ready to be a modern-day knight in shining armor, you only needed further training. You then went to Duncan Summers to demonstrate your creation, and with his go-ahead, you have been accepted in Claremont Academy, one step closer to your dream of becoming a super-hero.

[x] Rebecca Richardson
-People always saw you as a little odd, but you never understood why. People always said that you could be anything you put your mind to, so you just put all of your mind to being an inventor! Your beautiful babies would wow everyone who saw them, maybe you could even be a Superhero, or maybe their tech person! So what if you had issues with social situations? or with things that didn't interest you? So what if people whispered behind your back? It all came to a head when you lost your arm. Your parents wanted to move out of Freedom City, to somewhere safer, like New York, away from their jobs at ASTRO labs. But you couldn't let that happen! So you built yourself a new arm. One with a few... well maybe a lot, of self defense capabilities. With your newest baby strapped on, and working just like a normal arm would, your parents agreed to stay in Freedom City, so long as you attended Claremont Academy once you graduated from Middle School. As far as you were concerned, that was a win-win.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Seeing how the voting went, I decided to make some tech heroes, and some training heroes.

for the TLDR,

Aaron is a poor black kid from Lincoln, who is a super-genius. He has such a high understanding of mathematics that combined with his athleticism, it allows him to perform feats of parkour, as well as giving him enhanced martial skill, and accuracy. His weakness is that he isn't very tough, a good hit can take him down, so long as it connects

Hannah is a nerd who loves mystery novels to the degree where she can make inferences about the world. Her powers include Super Cold-Reading, which is statted out as surface though mind-reading, Incredible deductions, statted out as postcognition with some limitations, and an inspiration power, basically trading a victoy/hero point for a hint. Her big weakness is that while she can read people incredibly well, she really is not very good in social situations.

Eli is a driven individual, who wants to become a hero with a burning passion. He has assembled a power-suit, and trained himself to use weapons. His main weakness is that while he is a decent fighter, he is not an expert one, and he relies a lot of the protection his armor provides. Without it, or if someone breaks it, he's in trouble

Rebecca is a classic inventor, with a small twist. Her main ability, aside from a few minor inventions, is her cybernetic arm, which contains a variety of weapons for self defense, and a force-field generator. Her major weakness is that she's incredibly specialized, she's basically good at inventing things, using her inventions, and nothing else.

Issue 3: The Big Debut
[x] Hannah Davis

Today is the day.
You get out of bed that morning, your heart ponding in your chest. You open your closet and marvel for a moment. The Claremont Academy school uniform, hanging in your mostly empty closet, everything else packed up in various bins to bring them to your new dorm room. A smile threatens to split your face, this would be just like Nancy Drew # 158, The Curse of the Black Cat, when Nancy and George went undercover at a fancy private school! Of course, you'd be a student, not a teaching assistant, and you were going there, well, not to investigate, but it was similar!

You quickly got dressed and head downstairs. You greet your mother, while eating a bit of toast, and then make your way into the car, a plain grey sedan that looks a little beat up. Considering the traffic in midtown, getting from Hannover in the north of the city, to Bayview Heights in the south would be much faster going through Kingston, down State Route 9, and across the Centery Bridge.
As you glance out over the water, you can see your reflection in the mirror.

What do you look like?

Rebecca Richardson
Age 14

Rebecca is a classmate of yours. Obsessed with her mechanical creations, and generally not understanding of social cues of any kind, you have formed a tentative bond

Current Relationship: 1/10

Jordan of Europe
Age 14
A... European? Student. Possesses enhanced strength, flight, and what he terms "cosmic energy control." Which seems quite vague. Is definitely not from Europe. Is devastatingly attractive.

Jordan claims to be from a society which is quite stagnant, and somewhat cold. He mentioned being the only person born in the last hundred years as well.

Current Relationship: 2/10

Jade Kishida
Age 14
Japanese-American classmate of yours. Seems interested in music, and believes that she is the wielder of a cursed sword. Which is absurd of course, magic isn't real.

Current Relationship: 1/10

Sam Blaskowitz
Age 17

The Resident Advisor of your dorm floor. Pretty chill in general, uses they/them pronouns. You do not currently know their powers

Current Relationship: 1/10

Clarence Smith

Issue 4: Arrival
[x] Image 2

You arrive outside of the Claremont Academy grounds, at the base of a hill, surrounded by forests, next to a bus stop. You see that there is an old stone gate with a banner hanging above it that says "WELCOME NEW STUDENTS!" In bold lettering. Various other cars have pulled up, with students milling about. Already, you can see the sheer breadth of students milling about

"Will you be all right honey?" You mother says, as your father gets out of the car to begin unloading your luggage.

"Yeah." You say, steeling yourself, nervousness filling your belly as you stare out at the crows of students. "I, I think I'll be OK."

You already got some information about the way that Claremont is run from the materials you were sent by the headmaster. Freshmen and Sophomores will have to share rooms with assigned roommates, while upperclassmen get rooms to themselves. You're a bit nervous about having to share space with someone like that, but you hope that, maybe, you can become friends.

"Well all right. If you have any troubles whatsoever, be sure to tell one of the teachers." She says, with a small smile. A lifetime in academia had caused your mom to be perhaps a bit to charitable about teachers, but you'd see.

"Yeah, and remember to call!" Your dad says, grunting slightly from exertion as he pulls a plastic bin out of the trunk.

You take a step out of the car, into the crowd. You see across the mass of classmates that there are some students with badges on, Orientation Helpers, they say. You adjust your glasses and take in the looks of the upperclassmen.

Interested in helping new students. Thinks of Claremont as a home. Looking at new students reminds her that she is going to graduate soon. Sad that she will graduate soon.

Oh. Well, that's somewhat helpful at least.

Bored out of his mind. Here for the extra credit.

That's more in line with what you expected honestly.

Well, as you wait for everyone to arrive, and while your dad begins to move your stuff onto a set of pallets, you have a choice to make. Do you want to be social, maybe make some friends? Or do you just awkwardly stand off to the side.

[x] Awkwardly hide behind a nearby lamppost
-It won't hide you, but, well... No, it just won't hide you.

[x] Stand there frozen
-Has the benefit of simplicity, no effort needed!

[x] Follow your dad like a baby duck
-He's familiar, he's safe, you'll just follow! and uh, not help.

[x] ...Try to be social?
-Oh god. Oh god. Please no.
-Who do you go and try to talk to?
- [x] There's a handsome blonde boy standing off to the side, awkwardly looking at his phone. He doesn't seem to be with anyone. That's good!
- [x] There's a crowd of kids awkwardly introducing themselves, it's not like you could make it more awkward yes you totally could
- [x] There's a boy who looks willowy and tall, who is conspicuously dressed in what look like very obviously foreign clothing, you could talk to them!
- [x] There's a girl who is showing off her prosthetic arm- Is that a laser canon!?
- [x] There's a redheaded girl that everyone seems to be giving a bit of a wide berth, you think you recognize her form somewhere...?

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Hopefully the formatting I tried to do carries over. You also now get your first taste of Hannah's cold-reading, and her crippling social anxiety! Hooray!

Issue 5: Hello!
[x] ...Try to be social?
- [x] There's a girl who is showing off her prosthetic arm- Is that a laser canon!?

You square you shoulders and take a deep breath in, and begin to walk towards the girl with the super cool robot arm. You can do this!

"Hello!"

Oh no, you can't do this!

You freeze for a moment, and just stare at the girl. She's currently wearing a tank-top and the school uniform pants, with the shirt tied around her waist like a belt, and the tie hanging loose. Her hair is a bright red, and is in a rough looking bob that falls roughly to her shoulders. One of her arms is normal, but the other one looks sleek, and high tech, with various panels and seems. Rather than the normal school shoes, she seems to be wearing some sort of thick metal boots, and a pair of goggles rests on her head.

Curious as to who you are. Wonders if you would like to hear about her inventions. Is likely somewhere on the spectrum.

"Uh, hello." You respond, looking down towards your feet.

"Who are you?" She asks, her head tilting slightly. "Would you like to hear about my babies?"

Babies!? Her what!?

Refers to her inventions as babies.

Oh, that makes more sense. Wait, oh god, she's actually talking with you! What do you say!?

"Uh, sure." You say. Yes! Conversation achieved.

"OK!" She says, and she quickly begins talking at a rapid speed, explaining the functions of her various devices. Apparently her goggles possess a constant internet connection, as well as enhanced zoom functionality for working on small projects, and the metal boots she's wearing have rockets, literal rockets in them, that allow her to fly.

"D-do you have a parachute or anything, in case you fall?" You ask her, concerned somewhat.

"Nope!" She exclaims, her slightly nasal voice cheerful in it's inflection. "Haven't had the time? Why?"

"Well, you could fly up really high with your rocket boots, and then they could fail?"

She taps her chin for a moment, her face scrunching up in thought.

"That's true! Good idea random stranger!"

That's right, you didn't actually introduce yourself, conversation un-achieved?

"I-I'm Hannah." You say, looking at the ground again as a blush of embarrassment covers your face. She probably thinks you're an idiot now!

Mostly still thinking about her inventions. Thinks you had a good idea. Wants to talk more with you.

Huh!?

"I'm Rebecca! Please do not give me any nicknames, not even ones based on my name!" She says, smiling broadly.

"It's a pleasure to m-meet you..." you say

Before the conversation has a chance to get into that awkward position where you aren't able to muster up the courage to utter a word, you all are interrupted by a sharp whistle from one of the four Orientation Helpers.

"Hello there New Kids!" The girls says, waving cheerily at the crowd, which has now quieted down "At this time, I'd like to inform you that orientation will be starting! Please say goodbye to your parents, and get ready to get walked around campus!

You take a moment to look at the other two orientation helpers, who've walked up during your "conversation".

The first is a Japanese girl with neatly cut hair who stands a bit off to the side, helping load luggage onto the large pallets.

Japanese exchange student. Someone is speaking to her mentally, she is trying to ignore them. Secondary voice likely trying to get her to cause harm.

Well, that's somewhat concerning. Your gaze swivels to the final person, a plain looking, slightly chubby boy, who is just barely growing his first hints of a mustache.

Happy to help. Wants new students to do well. Thinks poorly of other male Orientation Helper.

Well, nothing you can do about that you suppose.

"Sweetie." You turn around to face your mom, a small, watery smile on her face. She embraces you, in front of the entire freshman class no less! You do you best to wiggle out before she completely torpedos your chances of being thought of as slightly cool, but you fail, damn her motherly strength!

"We're just on the other side of the city, only a call away if you ever have any trouble. If you ever just want to visit, or go out to eat or anything-" She cuts herself off with a chuckle. "I'm rambling. I love you sweetie, and I know you're going to do amazingly, OK?"

Your dad stands off to the side, giving you a thumbs up. Classic Dad.

"Thanks Mom..." you mutter. She might be embarrassing her, but you do love her to bits. Most of the time at least. The two of you seperate, and you begin to walk towards the Orientation Helper.

"All right everyone!" The peppy girl from before says, her blonde ponytail bouncing slightly as she bobs her head. "We're going to split into four groups, one for each of us Orientation Helpers, who will then lead you around campus to help you learn all about Claremont!"

Well, at least you'll be in a slightly smaller crowd of people, that should help at least.

With that, the girl begins to read names off of a list, while the slightly chubby boy flicks his hand, and everyone gasps. The pallets containing all of your luggage begins to float into the air!

Which of the four groups do you find yourself in?

[x] Peppy Girl
-She seems the most interested in actually making sure everyone knows what they need to know about campus, but she's also bound to try and get you to, horror of horrors, actually talk.

[x] Standoffish Boy
-He seems to not really care about this outside of getting extra credit for it, so is bound to put in little work. On the other hand, it means he wont try and loop you into icebreakers, or anything like that

[x] Japanese Girl
-The voice talking in her head concerns you, you might as well follow her to make sure nothing bad happens.

[x] Chubby Boy
-Why does he dislike the standoffish boy? Is it just because he's less invested in the new students? Or is it something deeper?

Issue 6: Buddy System
[x] Peppy Girl

"Hannah Davis!"

The peppy girl calls out your name. Oh god, you can see it now. Icebreakers, telling everyone your name, having to interact with all these people, who're probably gonna make fun of you as that weird nerd girl, you hunch into yourself a little bit.

"All right everyone! Now, we're going to be using the buddy system while we explore campus, to make sure nobody gets lost, and that everyone can have a friend! Now lets all find a buddy!"

Your head immediately swivels around looking for Rebecca, that girl that you already had... something of a conversation with. You curse silently as you see that she's in the group with the Japanese girl. This is bad. You're going to have to walk around with some stranger, who's probably gonna think you're annoying, and-

"Hey there, you want to be my buddy?"

You turn to look at the person who just...

Oh, wow.

It's the handsome blonde boy from before.

His hair was the color of gold, falling in a wave down to his shoulders, framing his face, with its perfect chiseled jaw and bright blue eyes that you could stare into for hours. He was smiling slightly, his teeth a perfect white, almost shiny in a way. He was wearing the normal school uniform, but it seemed to almost be a bit too small, the way that his rock hard muscles strained against the fabric. You could feel your face begin to heat up as you stared at him, slack jawed.

"Hello?" He says, a look of concern coming onto his face.

"Y-yes!" you squeak out.

"Great!" He says, smiling. I'm Jordan of Uuuuurope. Europe! Yes."

Well... that's a bit suspicious. He doesn't even have an accent.

Is not from Europe.

Yeah, you got that.

Is-

He smiles at you, rubbing the back of his head.

-PERFECT, GLORIOUS, BEAUTIFUL

You might be somewhat compromised here.

"All right, it seems like everyone's got a buddy, so lets get going to campus!" The peppy girl starts walking up the small road that winds up the hill that the campus is built upon.

"My name is Claire by the way." The girl says, expertly walking backwards towards the campus, while keeping an eye on the rest of the group. "I'm a senior, and I hope to go to college for Psychology! My power is Minor Hydrokinesis!" With that, she pulls out a water bottle, a heavy thing made of metal that seems to be somewhat reinforced. She unscrews the cap, and gestures with her hand, causing some of the water to flow out into the air, and begin to form into various patterns. First, a massive latticework of crystals, then into a perfect sphere. Then, into a serpent swimming through the air. The crowd of kids ooh and ah at the display of superpowers.

Enjoys using her powers, happy to be able to do so in front of people.

"How about we break the ice a little?" She says, still walking backwards. "Lets all introduce ourselves, giving our names, where we're from, a fun fact about us, and what our powers are!"

Oh god, it's coming true, your worst nightmare... speaking in front of a group of people!

As you worry over talking in front of everyone, you miss the first couple of people introducing themselves, until suddenly, you hear the cute boy next to you speak.

"Hi everyone! I'm Jordan." He says, flashing that perfect smile of his. "I'm from Europe, I enjoy learning about superheroes, and my powers well..."

He scratches the back of his head again, seemingly oblivious to how everyone is staring at him, or the large number of blushes that flash across the faces of most of the people in the small crowd you're in.

"I'm pretty normal for where I'm from. You know, super strong, control of cosmic energy, Immortality..."

Immortality???

"I speak a lot of languages too!" He says, giving another smile.

Being truthful regarding commonness of his powers. Doesn't see himself as especially powerful. Likely one of the stronger students at the academy, despite young age.

Then, everyone turns to you. Oh no.

How much do you tell people?

[x] Be vague
-You're super intelligent, and good at solving mysteries.

[x] Give slightly more detail
-You can read faster than most people, and make inferences that trained detectives couldn't.

[x] Word vomit!
-Explain all of your powers, in detail, too much detail.

[x] Panic!
-Say nothing at all!? Say everything!? In front of everyone!?

Issue 7: Introductions
[x] Give slightly more detail

"H-hi everyone..." You say, staring at the ground. "I'm Hannah."

You get some muttered hellos from the group, and a single "Hello Hannah!" From the boy beside you.

"I like to, uh, read mystery novels. I'm from here, in uh, Hannover. That's north of Midtown."

You take a shaky breath. Claire nods encouragingly. You don't know if it's just your imagination, but everyone seems to lean in a little bit, preparing for you to tell everyone your powers.

"I'm smart." You say, letting it all out. "I solved a missing persons case that the police thought was a cold case, a-and I can read super fast!"

You pant a little bit out of breath, and look at the ground, soon they were gonna start laughing. Solving mysteries!? What are you, Scooby Doo? These kids could breathe fire! O-or are super strong! In comparison, you've got nothing. You hunch in on yourself, looking nobody in the eye.

"That's pretty cool."

You look up. A girl is looking down at you. She's tall, that's the first thing you notice, she's probably got like half a foot on you. Her hair is long, with pink highlights that her makeup, which is done excellently, delicate eyeshadow brining out the pink hue of her eyes. She's thin, but it's a muscular thin, built like a runner, or a swimmer. On her back is a guitar case, and at her side is what looks like the sheathe to a katana, with the handle of the blade poking out.

"You solved a cold case that the police couldn't you said?" She looks down at you with a smile

Y-yeah, a girl at my school went missing. So I tracked h-her down to make sure she was OK." You mumble.

"That's badass, you're like Sherlock Holmes or something!" She exclaims, clapping you on the back.

The rest of the group slowly continues to introduce themselves as they continue to make their way up to the school.

"T-thanks." You say. "Though Sherlock Holmes was an actual Private Investigator, or 'Consulting Detective' as he called himself. I-I'm more like Nancy Drew, who in most stories she appears in is portrayed as simply a talented amateur detective rather than a professional."

The girl raises an eyebrow at you, and gives you another smile.

"You must really like mystery novels."

Oh god, you just exposited at her, she probably thinks you're a huge nerd now.

"Y-yeah. I like to read." You brush some of your hair out of your eyes. "I n-never had many friends, so I read books instead!"

The last part came out more like a squeak than anything else.

"That's cool. I'm-"

"Jade?"

The girl turns to Claire at the front, with a questioning look on her face.

"It's your turn to introduce yourself." Claire says with a smile.

"Oh, cool." Jade, apparently, says. Her tone is much less exciting than before.

"I'm Jade Kishida." She says, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "I'm from Fukuoka, and also New York. If you want to know how or why, my parents are assholes. I like playing music, and doing Kendo. My powers..."

She gives a grin that looks positively bloodthirsty.

"I've got this sword, it's super cursed and wants blood."

Believes everything she says. Sword appears to be sharp enough to cut through solid stone.

You shiver slightly. Magic clearly isn't real, but there is something... dangerous feeling about that sword.

"Thank you Jade!" Claire says, the same smile on her face. Jade seems to frown as her proclamation doesn't get the reaction she desired.

Was hoping to crack what she perceives as a façade of positivity. Disappointed.

Then, you see the building.

From the moment you see the main double gates, you feel engulfed by the massive portico-style gate tower. The building ranges from two to three floors, built in the style of an elegant French chateau. five buildings form the main academic building, surrounding what you'd guess to be the main quad, which is just visible between the large double gates. As you approach, you see that you are heading towards a side door next to a security station, sized for people, rather than for cars. A large plaque sits next to the main gate, with the words Scientia Potentia Est carved into it.

"And this is the main academic building!" Claire says, gesturing to the large structure before you. "It's made up of six primary buildings, which we will go over as we go through them!"

You groan internally, your feet are going to hurt so much by the end of this.

Would you all like to:

[x] Go over each area of the Academy
-A detailed tour

[x] Go over each major area of the Academy
-A less detailed tour

[x] Skip to getting to your dorm
-Meet your roommate!
