And, with that, it seems we will be playing as a man named Sunon.

Your New Life
[X] Sunon

[X] He

You think you black out for a bit. But when you awaken, you feel much better – your dizziness is completely gone, and you feel…hale, you guess? The small aches of a day of travelling through harsh terrain are gone. You don't feel 'suffused with godly power' or anything like that. You just feel like you.

You find yourself sitting on a stone, under a tree, in a pleasant park. Flowering trees abound, filling the air with the scent of pollen, and the ground is dotted with yet more – tulips, hyacinths, heather, lily of the valley, and many kinds you don't recognize. A girl hands you a cup of tea. You think she's the same as the one you saw in the Holy Tomb. Perhaps ten or twelve, she makes up for her height by floating above the ground. Her oversized robes, trailing gold sash, and ribbon-braided hair all dangle beneath her.

You thank her, sip the tea – black and malty – and a thought comes to you. "Great God El?" you ask.

She cackles. "Your brain is still in working order, I see!"

Mehr pokes its head out of your cloak and peeps a question.

"Being dead doesn't hinder me that much, sweetie. Creating a world is no fun if you can't watch it afterwards!" She reaches out a hand and pets its head with two fingers. "Oh, you're so soft. You know, I created you folk to have lovely feathers, but I've never gotten to pet one of you before now. What fortune that you've come up here!" She shakes her head and re-arranges her skirts. "Well, this is the Flower Plaza. Central to the City of the Gods. We have meetings here sometimes. It's technically Bel's territory, so if you have a problem with the décor, take it up with him and he'll stoically ignore you." She chuckles at her own joke. "There's also the Wells here, if you want to spy on the mortal realm and gossip about it. Otherwise, well, each god makes arrangements—"

"My goodness! El, you almost never come hang out with us. What's the special occasion?" A shrill voice approaches – attached to a beautiful young woman with the brown skin and dark eyes of someone from Razish. Her pink hair is held in a thick braid wound through with golden ropes, and her skirts rustle like silk as she runs. "O ho ho, who's this? A new god?"

"Yes. This is Sunon, God of Light. And his phoenix, Mehr."

You try to stand up. "Pleased to meet—"

"I'm Shahnaz, Goddess of Beauty! You probably haven't heard of me, but that's okay. I only have two – no, one priestess, the older one just left. They were fighting, it was a mess. I'll tell you all about it later. Tell me more about yourself!" She grabs your hand, heedless of your embarrassment.

El pipes up, "Shahnaz, why don't you show him around? No one knows more about this place than you, I'm sure. Some call you 'Goddess of Gossip'."

Shahnaz smugly leads you off, El staying behind. The sun is setting, you note, the sky painted pink and gold where it was blue a few moments before. At the edge of the plaza is a ring of paving stones, black and white. Paths lead away from the plaza, evenly spaced around the perimeter – which you now see is a circle. "So each god here gets a demesne, which you reach by following the correct path. They're all labeled with symbols, see – ugh, the light is getting bad. Let's wait a minute."

"Didn't the sun just start setting?" you complain.

"Yes, but a day lasts about twenty minutes in the Flower Plaza. Bel has weird tastes." The two of you wait for the moon to rise, and by the gods it is rising, at a slow but visible pace. It takes less than a minute altogether. "Okay! So here's the way to Uche's library: he has almost everything there, but finding what you need is the tricky part. And next door Casimir has this training ground if you want to, like, do sparring. And – ugh, let's ignore that creep – Tidir has a restaurant! It's a great place to hang out. She's only there sometimes, but her apprentices are all really good too. And this is the way to my place! You're free to come by whenever you want, really, I mean it. And…huh."

You check the next symbol – a four-pointed starburst. "Whose is that?"

"…I think it's yours. Ooh, that makes us neighbors!" She gives you a hug. An actual, straight-up hug. When was the last time you had one of those? Mehr's warm, but it doesn't have arms.

"Who's my other neighbor?" you ask, trying not to get flustered.

"Mm, yeah, it's like I thought…" Her mood seems to fall, all of a sudden, as she scrapes the pavement with her beaded sandal. "It's the other newbie. Which is, in theory, good! You two can collaborate on, like, getting worshippers and setting up temples! You can help each other out!"

"What's wrong, Shahnaz?" you ask

"Well, you see, the thing about…"

[ ] Naganami, God of War, is that they got their position by killing the previous God of War. As a mortal! No, I don't know how that's possible! They seem to prefer being alone, which is fine by everyone else…we're kind of scared."

[ ] René, God of Crime, is that he's the God of Crime. He is beyond sketchy. I know he ran, and is still running, a big underground organization. The Goddess of Justice hates him, of course."

[ ] Laevateinn, Goddess of the Hunt, is that she's not…entirely…sane? She gets this gleam in her eye when talking about all of the things she's killed, but anything else bores her so quickly."

[X] Naganami, God of War

It's cool, Sunon isn't a people person either.

We gotta keep an eye for the god darkness/shadows, that'll be our opposite probably.

Have to teach her about fishing. Or treasure hunting. Should be fun!

Not every law is just, or worth following. To defy those are still a crime.

Crime doesn't necessarily equal bad guy is what I'm saying. Unionizing was illegal for decades!

I rolled a dice to decide.

I ain't going to choose a trope choice. I refuse to.
