*submits a profile and doesn't check back*

if you submitted a version of that century old merc I'd at least keep it on hand for NPC you know.

Plus it was cool.

Edit: if this a jab/joke at something I did in anouther RP it's going over my head btw.

Have an ever-so-slightly updated version of last time.

Name: Elise Harmon
Nickname: "Lis"
Age:
22
Position: Apprentice Engineer
Birthplace: Lycaon, Callisto
  • A lithe, yet frail body that looks like it's blooming a little later than most women her age
  • Smooth dark hair that's barely a shade removed from black. Usually cut once it goes past the neck; sometimes tied into a low ponytail when working on hardware
  • Near-omnipresent glasses on her face; occasionally treats them as a security item
  • Plain, non-attention-getting wardrobe; usually wears clothing that doesn't restrict her when tinkering
  • For reference, think a slightly younger version of Hange Zoe with hints of Hiyori Tamura in her complexion.
Aspects:
  • High Aspect: Intelligence in a Small Package
  • Trouble: Escaped From Her Employers (Louran Solar)
    • To put it simply, 'Lis' learned some... interesting information and asked the wrong kind of questions at the wrong time about the company that provided basically everything to her, her family, and her colony. She escaped from her 'punishment', but the company aims to return her to the colony before she blabs about what she noticed. Or failing that, silence her...
  • Frail Like Paper: Due to a few... incidents in her childhood, 'Lis' tends to be physically weaker than average. She also cows somewhat easily to peer pressure in some situations.
  • It's Just Like in the Books... Right?: 'Lis' has read a lot of books during her adolescence. Unfortunately, she can find it a little hard if things don't match with what she's read.
  • Slips Through The Cracks: It can be easy to overlook the mousy bookworm, even when she's intentionally trying to get people's attention.

  • In public, 'Lis' keeps to herself; she occasionally worries about leaving any kind of trail for her former employers to catch her on.
    • She will speak up if there's something she truly needs from another person.
  • Naturally inquisitive; when she encounters any new hardware, she tends to download it to her PDA for later perusal.
    • She has recently looked into some fantasy and sci-fi-ish novels for leisure time.
  • Always looks to stay busy and/or helpful in one way or another.
    • If there really is nothing for her to do, she daydreams. And her daydreams can be really strange...
  • She will occasionally offer the absolute strangest and most random insights with some odd timing. Her mind makes some tenuous connections at times.
  • Eats most everything as long as it's edible; pickle spears are her guilty pleasure, albeit a rare one.

Elise was born to Rian Harmon and Laetia Kellor in the later part of 2395. While young, she acted timid, yet slightly precocious, finding anything technical to be a curiosity of sorts.

Elise especially marveled at the strange panels above, marveling at how they managed to bring sunlight and energy down to the many crops and residents across the colony of Lycaon. She always wanted to get up close and personal with those panels to see how they worked, much like her father did on regular maintenance rounds. She unexpectedly had the chance when Rian, unable to procure any sort of care-taking service for her daughter at that time, had no choice but to take her along on a quick job to one of the panels.

It was meant to be something routine. But "something" happened.

Rian was not punished, according to the public record. No one was willing to talk about what happened. 'Lis' took a long time to recover, time she took to foster an interest in reading; first with typical pre-teen fare, then some technical manuals she managed to get from Rian...

After recovery, something unexpected happened. Instead of being repelled by the panels, 'Lis' suddenly took a much greater interest in their workings, even submitting a couple of ideas and diagrams for improvements to the surprise of Louran Solar. She dove head-first into her studies, adding to her expertise when it came to mechanical and technological items. However, the incident and the ensuing recovery had taken their toll on her; being basically bedridden for so long left her lagging behind her peers when it came to more physical endeavors.

Around the time of her high school graduation, Lis won a school-wide competition and got the chance to meet one of Louran's executives; she took the advantage to explain some more advanced improvements she thought up... then asked a few innocuous-sounding questions.

Less than six months later, Louran announced that Elise would be moved off-colony to assist in some 'remote offerings' the company had trouble getting off the ground.

It wasn't what Lis had in mind at all. The arduous environment and unforgiving superiors helped build up a sense of quiet resolve in her that would surface a couple of times since then. She was also forced to build up her stamina to keep up with the others trapped in a similar situation.

Looking back, it was a prison in all but name.

Only by chance did Lis manage to get out of that situation. She managed to get in contact with a freelance hacker who had been investigating the remote site while looking into some of the seedier companies around the Jovian system. She had to leave a few of her favored belongings, due to the sudden nature of the escape.

Since then, Lis has been... well, not in poverty, but she is worse off now than she was in Lycaon. Even in these circumstances, she keeps up with her reading: magazines, studies, a few manuals, even several kinds of adventure stories.

Like many similar companies, Louran bases most of its operations over a concentrated area; in this case, Lycaon and a couple of neighboring areas. Its main business is concentrating solar energy from massive panels high above the colony, both for the colonies themselves and for outside merchants that pass business across the Jovian system.

Louran acts the main, and only, liaison when it comes to selling batteries or other related manners. Because of this, the only things people know about Lycaon and similar colonies are what they're told by Louran representatives.

The connection works the other way as well; almost anything that leaves the colonies has to be vetted, and in some cases modified, by Louran before it leaves or enters the colony. The company handles all affairs it needs to provide for workers and their families, including food, shelter, security, education, jobs...

Few outside documents exist about Louran's internal processes, or even its beginnings. A few smatterings of info suggest it started operations around the year 2390.

Skills:
Great (+4): Engineering
Good (+3): Academics, Stealth
Fair (+2): Electronics, Rapport, Investigate
Average (+1): Empathy, Notice, Will, Craft

Stunts:
One of the Crowd: +2 to Stealth rolls when trying to lose someone in a crowd.
Field Modifications: If you succeed on an Engineering roll on a piece of machinery, you may upgrade a boost to an aspect to reflect your repairs or modifications. A success with style grants a free invoke on the new aspect.
Forced Disassembly: Use Engineering to attack machinery in Melee instead of Fight.

also hay look more people running for corporate states! fun!

I AM THE CORPORATE STATE

(I'm actually not though)

Name:
Choe Eun-Sung (崔銀性)
Appearance:
Eun-Sung is a formerly hulking brute of a man, tempered and beaten by the ravages of age and experience. Only minimally enhanced by modern medicine, sharp and hawkish angles are present throughout his appearance, from prominent noise, angular brow, short-trimmed beard and thin, permanent scowl.

Age: 51
Position: Load Master/Logistics Officer
Birthplace: Vancouver, Earth

Aspects:
High Concept: "Businessman" With "Standards"
Trouble: Trail of Widows, Ex-Wives and Tax Breaks
Trust Only Your Fists
Janitor to Crime Lord, and Back Again
Nothing Beats Uncle Choe's Tteok (except Uncle Choe)

Refresh: 3
Fate Points: 3/3
Physical: [ ]1 [ ]2 [ ]3 [ ]4
Mental: [ ]1 [ ]2 [ ]3 [ ]4
Wealth: [ ]1 [ ]2
Consequences:
Severe (6): [ ]
Moderate (4): [ ]
Minor (2): [ ]

Personality & Bio:
Choe Eun-Sung is another shining example in the solar system of proof that you don't even have to be intelligent to be successful - only incredibly persistent past the point of reason. An entrepreneur above all else, particularly in the freight, entertainment and catering industries, 'Uncle Choe' evokes the image of a bygone era where men of both blunt and subtle violence openly walked civilized streets and made themselves untouchable.
Eun-Sung genuinely believes in strength (whether physical or mental) as the sole indicator of ownership above all things, and trusts very little else. Failure is weakness, and all weaknesses deserve failure in the end - even his own...

A man of polar extremes, Eun-Sung converses with a quiet growl forged by whiskey and tobacco, or roars like he stole his voice from a bear. Besides his belief in 'the natural order of things', he is mostly devoid of morals, with a hedonistic streak spanning the length of his (former) bank accounts. However, Eun-Sung will swear by his successes, and that there was very little he achieved without input by his own two hands, whether illegal or not. He presents to the duty of Load Master with little more than the clothes on his back and the skills he developed as a teenager more than thirty years ago, hauling (and eventually managing) mercenary freight and toting guns for the sake of survival.

Skills:
Great (+4): Provoke
Good (+3): Will, Physique
Fair (+2): Drive, Shoot, Contacts
Average (+1): Fight, Empathy, Engineering, Rapport

Stunts:
Fearsome Inspiration: Use Provoke in place of Rapport when associating with a member or when in an environment of organized crime.
Alternative Landscaping: Spend a fate point during a Shoot Attack with heavy weapons or explosives to create an environmental situation aspect.
This Old, Familiar Feeling: Once per session, reduce the severity of a moderate consequence (or erase a mild consequence), at the cost of a fate point.

You do know you don't get to keep fate points from the last game right?

Danger Sense: You have an almost preternatural capacity for detecting danger. Your Notice skill works unimpeded by conditions like total concealment, darkness, or other sensory impairments in situations where someone or something intends to harm you.

OK kill you via zen Japanese archery - the target is an extension of ones self their is no hate, it is not harm it is merely bridging a distance akin to taking a single step... or whatever.

Well, here's the sheet. I'm fairly certain I screwed up the augs.

Those augs actually look alright, though perhaps add some specificity? So the Physique bonus is when your undergoing stress to the body like being crushed physically or by G forces.

Aspect – Augmented Body Pack for effectiveness in the field and much longer longevity.(Cost: 1 point of Refresh)

Ok so this should be an aspect for the augmentations then you spend a refresh to make a set of three minor augmentations to represent the 'Just the standard Augs' or something.

Ideas -
Artificial Reflex Arcs: When using athletics to defend from physical attacks, a tie counts as a a success
Carbon Reinforced Joints: +1 to Physique related to resisting physical forces as well as the aspect 'Reinforced Skeleton'
ATP Filtration: You may roll to overcome an obstacle to cross a zone or move across several zones as a free action rather then it taking your action for an exchange during a conflict.

Also your trouble could use some specificity - ok you have a lot of enemies, almost every merc does. Is their one specific enemy that troubles you though?

Why are all my medics for this setting traumatized combat surgeons?! Seriously similar to the doc from the last game.

Why can't I have a happy doctor? : (

Aspects:
High Concept: Pilot With A Kid To Feed.
Trouble: Former Lover Is A Yakuza Boss
WHOA! It's A Real Catgirl!
As Long As I Have Wings, I Will Never Get On My Knees
This Is My Daughter! Isn't She Cute?

It occured to me that despite the backstory you don't really have the whole lab thing in any of your aspects - As Long as I Have wings is the closest. Thats fine, just something I noticed. Despite it being in her backstory you don't want it to be brought up outside of your control which is fair.

Hange Zoe with hints of Hiyori Tamura

Did you just mix Attack on Titan and... Lucky Star?

I was going to say this seems more like a trouble but you could totally invoke it to look unassuming or all... idk moe and get a rapport bonus.

Age: 14
Position: Apprentice Engineer
Birthplace: Heliopolis, Earth L5

Aspects:
High Concept: Most Adorable Weapon of Mass Destruction
Trouble: Maintenance Heavy Proprietary War Machine
Member of a Synthetically Made Family
Doctor, I won't waste this life you gave me
Ghost in the Shell

You know the character doesn't NEED to be 14 to be cute. Even if she's actually 14 years old based on when she was made or not for a character like this I assume age is apparent age IE how old they look and nominally act. The issue is from the logic of the story... Mike is not going to hire on a 14 year old.

The augs and stunts look fine though given its 2 stunts, 2 major augs and a minor I count 5 fate points spent. meaning you need to be down to ... 1 fate point. On the plus side your aspects provide a wealth of compels ranging from minor to 'your the macguffin'

You could add 2 more minor mods for 'free' since you only have 1 minor currently.

Also I updated the introposts

Name: Xande Thibau

Age: 30
Position: Ship's Legal Counsel
Birthplace: Theseus Station, JSU

High Concept: Shark In A Nice Suit
Trouble: Genemod Horror Show
Up From The Gutter
Company Man (Levi & Aethan Law Firm)

Skills:
+4: Brokerage
+3: Academics, Provoke
+2: Investigate, Empathy, Contacts
+1: Athletics, Will, Physique, Stealth

Stunts
Menacing Presence
Gain +2 on all Provoke Rolls to inspire fear and intimidation as long as you are face to face with the target.

Benefits Of A Classical Education
May roll Academics in the place of Fight when unarmed or equipped with a rapier or similar weapon

Always Read The Fine Print
May use Brokerage in place of Empathy to defend against the Deceit Skill
(WIP)

This is one of those moments where someone sees what I have in a setting and runs with it to places I was not expecting. Though the idea of a rapier wielding lawyer ... shark man (for lack of a better term) is interesting.

Though you are missing fifth aspect, perhaps something related to how he ended up like... this. Since why he looks like does interest me.

For SERE? Yeah, I've thought about that too. Maybe something like letting Iraivan clear his stress track once per scene?

I mean you already get to clear all stress at the end of a scene... perhaps spend a fate point to do it? But thats why my initial suggestion was just a refinement of what it was now

'+2 Physique when resisting physical forces like being crushed or g-forces'

oh also I removed Navigation as a skill... making pilots need 2 skills while the others needed 1 seemed unfair.

Though given I'm likely to be carrying Hatsu with Sakura over from the last RP... *drums fingers* .... you initially asked about mecha, maybe have him be a pilot? could make a suit ala Helena did with the robot wolf or Hatsu with making Misa.

Though I'd hold off on making said suit untill after I choose whose coming in.

On that note - With Ryo posting before the deadline the only person from the last game that did not submit a profile within the deadline was the doctor from the last game. Now that does not mean I WILL choose a doctor to fill the slot, especially given we only have one submission for a doctor.

We essentially have 2 slots open since most of these character ideas are interesting enough to convince me to go with an extra player slot (plus 8 is a nice round number). I should make a choice this weekend before my vacation ends and I go back to work.

I will also be making a reserve list as experience from previous games shows that people drop out time to time.

Character Selection deadline

Oh, yeah. I can do both of that. Does seem more elegant to have him be mech/in atmo fighter first, space pilot second. I'll be editing his sheet soon.

I've actually thought about that. His parents were among several dirt poor couples in space station slums who signed up for gene therapy clinical trials that were intended to make certain their children could grow up in low gravity without skeletal development issues, actual results were considerably less benevolent.

The Levi & Aethan firm negotiated a settlement that lifted the victims out of soul crushing poverty and provided the means to care for their mutated offspring, which is why Xande never wanted to be anything except a lawyer for LA.

Mike: *manages to do will check on seeing him* ... *hears cultured British accent* ..... ok I need more bourbon.

@DB_Explorer I'm up for switching out an Aspect for something related to Sakura's origin. It's not a problem.

By the way, have you decided whether or not to get rid of the Navigate skill, yet?

No idea what to NAME it plus I like all your current aspects. They work well MAYBE change the catgirl one to provide cat-girl stuff plus origin.
Hmm...

Ideas:
  • Mad Science Baby
  • The Billion Dollar Catgirl
  • Double-Helix Damsel
  • The Best Bod Science Can Make
  • Custom-Made Baby
  • I Was Born This Way, Dammit!
  • Very Expensive Genes
