You don't need much time to think about what you're going to do. "Joe, wait up!" You run after him into the depths of the castle, because Tai and Kari can take care of themselves and you think the others will be fine staying by the entrance.
Or, well, as fine as it
gets, anyway. What with being stuck in a spooky castle that contains at least one ghost, and all.
You catch up to him pretty quickly, Biyomon flying just behind you. He seems sort of surprised that you followed him. "Sora, why are you here? Shouldn't you be with the others?"
"They'll be fine," You shrug, and will yourself to believe it. "There's enough of them that they should be able to handle things. And I don't think any of us should be on our own right now."
"What am I?" Gomamon asks. "Fried tuna?"
You roll your eyes. "You don't count. There should be more than one Digimon, just in case there's some kind of fight."
"Not that the ceiling's all that high, or anything," Biyomon points out. "I don't think I'd be able to do as much as Birdramon as I'd like around here."
"That's because this is indoors..." Your friend tries to point out, as if anything
has to actually make sense here. Sometimes it does, and this just might be one of them, but it's not like there's an actual rule to that effect, or anything. Not even back home.
"Still... we should probably try to avoid fights," You decide. "Especially since we're guests here." No need to ruin what little hospitality you've received unless it turns out to be a trap of some kind.
"Also the fact that our Digimon won't do well here?"
"Yes, but don't
say that out loud!" You never know who could be listening in. And anyone who could come to own a place like this... they'd have to be pretty powerful. Even if the servants are Bakemon, that doesn't mean that whoever this castle belongs to is someone you should offend. You're supposed to be the Digital World's heroes, that doesn't entail annoying everybody around you.
"R-right, sorry..." The two of you walk in silence for a few moments, before Joe speaks up again. "Do you think we're going the right way?"
"Don't worry about it!" Gomamon waves his flippers as if it could be that easy to make Joe relax. You know for a fact that it's not. "I'm sure that it will all work out
just fine!"
Thankfully, you don't have to worry too much about going the wrong way, as another Bakemon floats the opposite way down the hall. "Um, excuse me," You wave him over, and he floats up to you.
"Yes? What is it?"
"My friend is supposed to meet with the lord of the castle, we were sort of wondering where we're supposed to go for that."
For a moment, the bedsheet ghost gains a look similar to shock, but it fades
just as quickly as it appears. You're not sure whether you imagined it or not.
"If you're looking for Lord Myotismon, you just need to take the first staircase, and then turn right. Or is it left...?" Well, at least you know you should take the stairs. "It's the same direction as this hand." So, probably right. Got it.
You think he could be a bit clearer than that, but he's already heading back the way he was going before, so you can't exactly ask him.
"Lord Myotismon..." Gomamon sounds out the name, before looking up at you and Biyomon. "Doesn't that sound sort of familiar to you?"
Your partner nods. "Wasn't he the one that was supposed to run the Overdell? He sent the Tags there, too." Well, that explains why the Bakemon here aren't really surprised to see humans. The Myotismon that left File Island was friends with Maki Himekawa.
"If this is the same one, it
could make things easier," You realize. "At least... that means we probably don't have to worry about being attacked or anything. He told the Bakemon on File Island to look out for the DigiDestined."
He also left a long time ago, and never contacted his old servants again after sending them the Tags. But you don't think bringing that up is going to help anybody.
As things are, though, you're still going to encounter an Ultimate Level Digimon, and possibly on your side or not... Since you know where to find him, and won't be taken by surprise or anything, that at least means that you can sort of prepare for... whatever comes next.
By which you mean you've got a lot of things that you'd like to ask, when the time comes.
[ ] Such as, if he was friends with Maki, if he knows where she's gotten to.
[ ] Such as why he hasn't contacted the Overdell recently.
[ ] Such as where he got the Tags.
[ ] ...But none of that's relevant, so you'll just focus on why he'd want to see Joe.
