The others might not want to meet with them anyway, but I think that they should make the decision instead of Sora deciding for them.

[X] Raise the idea after finding Kari's partner
[X] On second thought... maybe you should keep going.

Okay, going to ask first, that's fine...

Sadly, this almost guarantees fewer antics from the insane Digimon, but that can still work.

Return to Camp Kindness
"Let's ask the others about it," You decide. Because while it would be fun to see their reactions, Prairiemon was right about the other three being high energy.

You turn to the others. "You know, we ended up here before, right when we came back."

"Oh, you did?" Mimi asks, adjusting her hat. "So, you know where things are?"

"...Sort of. But I was going to say that we actually met a group of Digimon. There were four of them, and they know what the area's like a lot better than we do." By virtue of actually spending time in the area, but still... "Also, one of them is an unrepentant fangirl."

"Wait, we have fans?" Patamon blinks in surprise. "I didn't know that."

"Given what the last group of DigiDestined did, it only makes sense," Agumon points out. "But is she really a fan of us or just DigiDestined in general?"

"It's the second one." Which is probably a good thing, if you don't want various evil Digimon to try using you as an example, but it makes you wonder just how long it will take for them to start recognizing your group on sight. "Still, she and her friends are the ones who told us about the castle to begin with. So if anyone found something out..." They'd be the ones to know it. "Do you think we should stop by and talk to them?"

"It'd be more interesting than just staring at this lake all the time," Matt ventures.

Tai nods. "Yeah, but... what do you think, Kari?"

"...It's fine." She still sounds rather quiet, but you're not going to question her right now. "We can go. It- it might help, right?"

"Honestly, I'm not so sure about that," Joe sighs. "But they're the only Digimon around that we actually know, so..."

"Then we should go. Just to meet them, at least." You aren't entirely sure of Kari's reasoning, but you'll take it.

"Right." You nod, before glancing into the brush for a specific path. "Okay, so they'd be about this way..."

"You came back!" Opossummon, of course, is the first one to register your presence. You aren't quite to the small group of houses yet, but apparently you were close enough for her to notice.

You can also see that she's gotten her balloons back, and it's made her a lot more able to jump over bushes and things. Not that you were surprised by how overgrown the path was before, but now you've just seen another reason for it.

"Yeah, we're back. We found the others, and thought you might want to meet them. See, here's Tai, Kari, Matt, TK, and Mimi." You gesture at them as you say their names, and Opossummon nods with each one, presumably committing them to memory.

"I see! Well, it's good to meet all of you!" She hops back a little, just as a gust of wind picks up and blows her into the branches of a tree.

"Are you all right?" TK asks.

"I'm fine!" She calls back down, rapidly untangling her balloons and floating back down. "This happens all the time. I'm used to it."

You never paused to consider it before, but... maybe carrying around a large number of balloons in a forest isn't the best idea in the world.

"So, do you think it would be alright if we talked to the others for a bit?" You question her. "Just to see if anything's been happening recently?"

"Oh, sure! Come on!" She quickly scampers off, leading you the rest of the way to the camp. "Chameleonmon, Prairiemon! The DigiDestined came back!"

Chameleonmon puts down his toolbox and wanders over, while Prairiemon cracks open an eyelid, not moving one inch from the sunbeam he's found. Still, there's something missing...

"Where's Koemon?" You find yourself asking, wondering where the little monkey Digimon would have gotten off to.

Immediately, you get the sense that you've said the wrong thing. "She- she decided to go look at the castle..." Opossommon answers, suddenly subdued. "That was over a week ago, and... she hasn't come back yet."

[ ] Change the subject. Change it now.
-[ ] So, has anything else interesting happened recently?
-[ ] And how have the rest of them been?
-[ ] Distract them with tales of what you've been doing.

[ ] Well, you were actually planning to head to the castle yourselves...
-[ ] Promise to look out for Koemon.
-[ ] Invite the others along.
-[ ] Don't say anything more than that.

[ ] Promise you'll keep an eye out for her, but say nothing of actually going into the castle.

[X] Promise you'll keep an eye out for her, but say nothing of actually going into the castle.

I don't really want to risk them trying to come along, but I do want to try comforting them.

[X] Promise you'll keep an eye out for her, but say nothing of actually going into the castle.

I, personally, would also give them a hug to try and comfort them about it, but I don't know if I want to add that to my vote.

[X] Promise you'll keep an eye out for her, but say nothing of actually going into the castle.

Okay, don't tell random Digimon that you're going into a place that causes all who go in to vanish... probably good for their peace of mind, at least.

You know, aside from the fact that they still have no clue where their friend is, and they might still guess your destination just from context.

A Dire Warning
"We'll keep a look out for her," You say without thinking. "I mean, we'll probably be in the general area for a while, so if she shows up..." Do not mention going to the castle to them. That just seems like a terrible idea right now.

"I'm sure it'll be fine," Prairiemon waves you off. "She probably just got lost in the woods. It happens." Somehow, you don't think even he believes that.

"Yeah, there's not a lot Koemon can't trick her way out of," Chameleonmon adds, sounding just as much like he's trying to reassure himself. "Really, I'm more worried about if she's found another Digimon in those woods."

Izzy seems to realize something, if the way he quickly turns to his computer is any indication. "Hey, what are you doing?" Tentomon asks, fluttering above his partner's shoulder. "There can't be anything that important."

"It's not. Probably. But I need to get this down so I won't forget it."

"Forget what?"

"Most of the rumors around think that there's something off about the castle itself, but what if that's not true? What if there's a Digimon causing all this?"

"What sort of Digimon would that be?" You ask. "I don't think I've heard of one that could just make others disappear... at least, not as their main focus." And, really, wouldn't a Digimon that powerful have better things to do than hang around to spread rumors of a haunted castle?

Gabumon glances up at you. "Do they need to be that powerful? I'm sure I've heard of a Champion that could do that kind of thing once..."

"Yeah, Clockmon," Palmon agrees. Like this world wasn't already terrifying enough.... "But I don't think those really live around castles."

Joe sighs. "I'd ask what you mean, but I don't think I actually want to know."

"You probably don't," Gomamon confirms.

"Are... are you going to the castle?" Opossummon asks, looking around at all of you.

Izzy shrugs. "Potentially. We DigiDestined are supposed to protect this world from threats, and whether it's the castle or a Digimon, it's definitely threatening."

"We think my partner could be there," Kari adds. "If they aren't, then I guess we don't have to go, but... Something keeps pulling me in that direction."

"But you can't!" She insists. "It's too dangerous!"

"What do you mean?" Tai doesn't seem to take her worries very seriously. "We're the DigiDestined. If we can't do it, no one can."
(Tai's Diplomacy roll: 85)
"Tai. Tai, that's not how it works..." Matt groans. Whether or not it is, though, Opossummon seems a bit less upset than she was earlier, so you guess you can't really complain.

"He's right, though," She says. "You're DigiDestined, and DigiDestined can do anything. So... you should be able to find Koemon, right?"

"That's the plan!" Biyomon chirps. "We're going to go up to the castle, deal with whatever's there, and come back with Koemon! Easy!"

"That's if we go to the castle," You remind her. Though, at this point, you're pretty sure you will. Kari's partner, Maki Himekawa, Koemon... there's a lot of things that could potentially be tied to this castle, and letting something like that be would be failing in all of your duties as a DigiDestined. Such as they are, anyway, when a good portion of this world doesn't entirely realize that you exist.

You spend some time talking to the three remaining Digimon at the camp about less important things, and then you all decide to get back on your way.

Your next message from the Analog World comes a few days later, once you've reached the dark forest that is apparently where the castle is located.

Apparently. Digimon don't really go near it anymore, and the flock of Swanmon that you passed walking along the lake told you to stay as far away from it as possible. But Kari's still feeling the pull into the forest, so... you guess you're going to the castle.

But that doesn't matter right now. The email is more important.

We're glad to know that your group has started to build itself up again. Traveling while separated was always the most nerve-wracking part of our adventures in the Digital World, and we're sure that the reunion has given all of you some renewed peace of mind.

We would like to extend our congratulations to Sora on the newly Digivolved Digimon, and wish Kari luck in finding hers. You were right to make locating her partner a priority, as you simply don't yet have the
prestige needed to survive in the Digital World without one. Maybe once you gain notoriety, but in no way should that ever be your end goal.

As for the Crests... if they glow while a Digivolution is taking place, perhaps they act as amplifiers for your own power. Or, maybe, they are simply there to guide you along a path that will prevent something like the MadLeomon incident from happening again. We can still only speculate at this point, and hope you will tell us if anything else odd happens involving them.

And for castles... well, there are only two that we can think of. First, and less likely, is an old palace in the mountains that was being fought over by several factions of Gekomon and Otamamon before Machinedramon obliterated them all. Odds are that it has since been taken over by whatever factions have retained their memories since then, though there's no way to know for sure.

The second castle is much more important. It was built by a being called Homeostasis, and acts as a sort of link between the Digital World and all others. After our adventure ended, the door inside of it was how we managed to get home. It took us right back to the place that we had left from, and we have reason to believe that it would be able to connect to other places.

There are other important parts about that castle as well. It was where our Digivices were first created, as well as the most likely origin for yours. But if Digimon have started disappearing into it and never coming back... well, suffice to say, it's unlikely that it still fulfills those purposes.

If something has managed to take over that castle, it could have dire consequences for the rest of the Digital World. Act carefully, and if you're lucky, you could be able to find a way home out of that.

If you're not, though... it could easily mean the end for us all.

...Well. That was pleasant. Not that you were planning on treating this casually or anything, but still... Suffice to say, it'll be hard to come up with a proper response for this.

[ ] Write-in message

Also, now that you've reached the forest, you should probably think about how you're going to handle getting into the castle.

[ ] Just go up and knock on the front door.

[ ] Look for alternative entrances that are still doors.

[ ] You have Birdramon. Anything open to the sky is a perfectly valid access point.

[ ] If there are walls you can climb, you have a way to break in.

[ ] Just blow up a wall. No point in subtlety when half of you can't use it, right?

Idiots. Complete idiots. Why do we even TRY to be subtle?

[X] Just go up and knock on the front door.

Knowing Tai the complete dumbass would do this or blow down a wall if we try to go get a bird's eye view with Birdramon. So what's the point in even trying to do that?

Because Sora still has hope that one day they'll learn to keep their mouths shut. So far, it's not working.
Maybe we should use that fistfighting skill of ours and BEAT IT into their thick skulls.

On the other hand, considering said skulls are thicker than a brick wall we might just end up with broken hands instead.

Then we'll use those thick skulls to break down the walls of the castle.

Everybody wins!

[X] Just sum up what the local digimon told you and mention that you're heading to the castle now.

I mean the really subtle ways are out, but I think this group could manage something like using a side door.

Not really. Tai's an idiot.

I've been trying to think of a full message to write, but nothing comes to mind. I do believe, though, that we've heard of a castle related to the Gekomon and Otamamon before, so we'd know that the one we're looking at isn't that one.

I was about to rationalize a decision about the castle approach with meta-knowledge, which I shouldn't do, so I'll just pick the one I think Sora would.

[X] Just go up and knock on the front door.

No reason to not be polite.

EDIT:

Voting for TempestK's message.

[X] Message: Good news and a heads up!
-[X] Our group has been fully re-assembled. Matt has apparently achieved Ultimate as well as Mimi, so we've got a pretty solid fighting force if things get dangerous. Joe and Gomamon are getting along well. We also have a bit of a mystery. Kari is somehow aware of there being at least one other human in the Digital World, but she says they're 'not able to do anything'. We're not sure how she knows that, maybe it has something to do with her having the crest of Light? We've also heard of a castle that's occupied by a ShogunGeckomon, so it's highly likely that the castle that this 'Homeostasis' built is the one we're headed to. Kari is most definitively being pulled in that direction, and at this point it seems kind of inevitable. We're going to keep our eyes open and stay together though no matter what we do. We'll send you another message once we find out what's going on there and deal with the issue.
