I am honestly tempted to attempt to pursue Lyanna here. I mean who else are we gonna pursue, A Rowan? A Redwyne?Lyanna seems the most interesting option here and Rickard maybe okay with her marrying Aemon as he is a prince and all that. To make up for Elbert's Bethrotal Ned or Benjen could be Married to some Valemen.

Lyanna is interesting and the scene with her was great. But it simply isn't gonna work. Rickard is not gonna be okay with this marriage. A prince is a nice title but it means jack shit. Aemon is far from the throne and has no lands or great wealth of his own. Rickard ain't breaking the bethrotal with Elbert for Aemon. No chance at all.
Waiting for Aemon to get more power is teh best option. Our options open up.
A marriage with Aemon also opens up ties to the Westerlands for Rickard, which he definitely wants as they are the richest kingdom and would help the north a lot in the Trade Department. And as I said earlier Ned and Benjen are still up. Elbert could even be married to Lysa to tie it up nicely. Brandon and Cat, Elbert and Lysa and Lyanna and Aemon.

Aemon is the second son with no great power or land of his own at this moment. What Aemon brings does not compare to the the heir of an LP. Rickard's grandchild will be the heirs of the Vale if Lyanna marries Elbert. Aemon? Super closer to the heir of the Westerlands. Yes. But that is still not heir of an LP house level. The difference in power is huge. It makes no sense for Rickard.

I broadly agree, though I would note that, as things stand, Aemon is probably going to be the chairman of the Sunset Bank, under Jaime's ostensible employ but probably given plenty of freedom given Jaime's general disinterest in paperwork. That's still not the sort of alliance that Rickard's looking for but it's not nothing either.

Sure, Jaime probably will let Aemon do as he pleases with the bank. But does Rickard know that? Nope and even if he was led to believe that...friendships/bonds can and do break. Jaime and Aemon even had a small crack in their relationship for a bit due to Cersei. This is something that Rickard can't be sure about as being a strong benefit down the idea. Not with certainty.
Right, this is another issue with any idea of pursuing Lyanna. Rickard ain't going to break the betrothal with Elbert for a second son with no lands or forces of his own. Height of folly for Rickard who is ambitious. It'd hurt relationships with the Vale which is just downright silly to do if you don't have to.
