Might be useful to look around the landscape and see what's there. Also, plenty of dirt here to practice our new power and poking that tablet. I suppose sleep won't be a problem by virtue of being a skeleton.

Dirt-to-Stone Durability - At the cost of doubling your consumption of life essence, you can increase your durability by an order of magnitude similar to that of dirt to stone. You can also reinforce other objects, and the expense will be calculated for the specific object.
You are a skeleton with bones and weird forcefield-eyes making up your entire physical form. Swimming would be... well, I'm sure that you can figure it out.
You decide to head to the ocean. There'll probably be a lot of small life-forms around to hunt for their life essence, and, since you probably don't need to breathe, it'll provide a possible avenue of escape from any land creatures.
Well, that's still assuming that the oceans of this world are much like your home world's. For all you know, it might be highly acidic and populated solely by gargantuan sea leviathans that can use highly advanced magic instinctively.
You think that that scenario is not very likely, but it's something to keep in mind regardless.
But regardless of the possibilities, you still think that heading to the ocean is a good bet. You orient yourself in the correct direction, and begin your long march toward it. You notice that there are a couple small villages on the way and resolve to avoid them. Being a six-foot-tall undead abomination, you feel like your presence would frighten random villagers. And anyone who wouldn't be frightened would probably try to kill you. Best to just not take the risk.
You know that you'll have to face civilization eventually, but you'd rather put that off for now. You want to establish yourself before you risk getting killed.
On the way, you decide to jog it, seeing as how your stamina is apparently infinite.
Only a couple hours after you start your uneventful hike, you reach your destination.
The ocean is far from what you expected. There's the bluish-green water, sure, but everything else is different. It's unusually tumultuous, with waves as high as your head crashing relentlessly against the shore. The shore itself consists of a short bar of sand followed by a steep cliff, several meters high. The wind blows against you, providing a noticeable resistance to movement.
When you look around, there's no sign of civilization anywhere nearby. It's just endless fields of grass and flowers, with the occasional tree, all swaying violently in the wind.
After a short examination of the cliffs, you find a safe way down; a path as wide as two people, worn deep into the cliffside.
Of course, this means that someone, or something, has climbed up and down this specific path enough times to wear it into solid rock. Something big.
You start to wonder if visiting the ocean was a good idea.
Far off in the distance, you can see a stormfront floating above the ocean. Strangely enough, the rest of the sky is completely cloudless. You can easily guess that that's where the wind is coming from.
While you are watching the storm throwing the ocean below into a tumultuous chaos, you spot movement out of the corner of your eye. You turn your head to look, just in time to see a massive black shape sinking back underneath the waves. It moves too quickly for you to make out any details besides a series of fins, all huge.
You want to explore your immediate area before heading somewhere else, and the grassy area around you doesn't look like it'll be hiding much. You cautiously make your way down the path to the beach nearby, occasionally stumbling on loose rocks.
When you step foot in the sand, you notice something odd about it. First of all, it's completely bone white. Also, instead of just being sand, there also seems to be random chunks of white stone buried in it, in shards and fragments ranging in size from a small pebble to a fist-sized chunk. Well, fist-sized relative to your new body, meaning that it's probably about twice the size of a human fist. Across the beach, there also seems to be a few decaying fish corpses. You don't bother going closer to them.
Looking out across the ocean, you notice a few white spires protruding out of the water. They're oddly shaped, being taller than they are wide, and slightly curved. They're all different heights, and mostly smooth, though a few show signs of pieces breaking off recently.
As you watch, a wave crashes against the shore, crossing several meters up the beach, nearly touching your feet, despite you being quite a distance from the actual waterline. The waves' sizes are chaotic and inconsistent, with some as tall as you, and others with peaks lower than your kneecaps.
Recalling that black shape from earlier, you resign yourself to making sure that the immediate shallows are at least somewhat safe. You carefully wade into the water, awkwardly stumbling over any unseen stones along the floor. As natural as your new height feels now, you're still not completely used to it, and your finesse is suffering.
At first, it doesn't feel so bad. Water flows over your foot- and leg-bones, not really too different of a sensation from back when you were human. There are some extra holes and crevices, but they are easily ignored. However, once it hits your pelvis it's like a punch in the face. Cold saltwater flows into places that should have had organs and flesh. It only gets worse the deeper you get, and it really drives it home that you no longer have the necessary parts for life.
Once you reach the point where the water is above your waist, you crouch down, deciding to get it over with. You flinch as water fills your empty skull, the cold making your skull ache. It's not debilitating; you can still keep going. It's just a shock.
You're grateful that you no longer have eyelids, because you're not sure that you would have opened your eyes quickly enough to notice in time.
A wide, scaled head is tearing toward you through the water. You try to shift out of the way, but your movements are sluggish, the water's viscosity way higher than you expected. Because of this, the creature manages to nick your hip, tearing off a few chunks of bone.
It's head surges past you, dragging behind it a ribbon-like body far longer than you are tall. When it turns around, you get a good look at it.
The creature is wide and flat, looking like one of those fish that lay in the sand, waiting for prey, crossed with an eel. It's sand-colored scales would allow it to hide in the shallows. It has three asymmetrical eyes laid across the upper side of its head. It's body is completely smooth, with no fins, ridges, or anything like that, apparently relying entirely on its abdominal muscles for movement. It's gaping jaws have a few canines in the front, but the rest is just filled with molars of various sizes.
The thing is about to rush at you again, and it's between you and the shore. It can probably be trusted to keep rushing you, but it's also pretty big.
You might be able to take it, but there's also a good chance that it could bite you in half.
[X] Boost durability and grab on the next time it strikes. Try to drain it of life.
Snip Fifteen:
You're not sure running would be a good option. Instead, you decide to use your currently one-and-only ability on yourself.
Feeling a rush of energy through your entire body, you set yourself, bracing for the inevitable impact. Your bones shine, their surfaces becoming so smooth that they reflect light, and a feeling of tightness encompasses your entirety.
When the creature charges at you, you don't flinch away. If you were to do so, there's no question that the fish-like thing would be able to throw you.
It hits.
The sheer force at which it hits causes a cloud of bubbles to cascade from the two of you. It manages to push you back a few feet before you come to a complete stop. Your bones creak at the stress they're under.
Once you have it in your grip, you try to eat it. Its life essence veritably shines with power, activating your instincts. A visible steam of light flows from your enemy to you, and you quickly begin to feel powerful again. As the light flows, the creature begins to age, it's skin tightening, scales shedding, and eyes dulling. Before your eyes, the creature crumbles into so much dust.
It's not enough.
You don't want it to be enough.
That power. That life.
It's intoxicating.
With the life force of the creature inside of you, you feel like you are getting too big for your skin. There's a feeling of size, not physical, but something else. You feel like you should be massive, but here you are, eight foot nothing.
