I'm not entirely certain if the thing I tried worked or not.

Leaning toward not, seeing as that all looked pre-planned.

Buuuut......

Anna is amazing at suppressing the horror of Shade ripping an ascendent being to pieces.
Then again, I suppose Disney doesn't have PTSD.

I don't understand?

Also, I don't think Anna could see them.
"I promise I'll never take you out on an adventure ever again. I won't sing again. I promise. I promise, I swear I won't, but please, please don't eat me. Or kill me. Or break me into thousands of tiny gory pieces like you did with that guy that came from thin air and that you brutally murdered in front of my eyes, please, please, please."
I blinked.
What...guy was she talking of?

I think she got a glimpse before it was destroyed.

If it's possible in Disney, it should be repeatable in a Shounen World too. Sure they can be darker and have a higher cost but the Good Guys Win there too.

Murphy confirmed as God! Misterious Voices from above, you can now let Shade go. Or he will kill all of you, Painfully.

.... He will probably kill you anyway, but less painfully. Maybe he will simply make you [X]Genuflect and *Splat*

Huh that picture reminds me of Torroars Red lantern.

Random idea: in their efforts to find god, they created one.

Remember who the writer is, please.
Do you really think we're on the Uprising bell curve?
Really?

well, no, but there are jumps towards the sky to give an illusion of hope. Because staying always at the bottom is too dreary.

I'm sort of wishing that Shade would connect with either the God-Emperor of Mankind, or one of his sons.

We've seen him deal with Disney, now let's go in another direction!

You can be God without being uplifting: Azathoth is God too!

I recall in his earlier conversation with Shepherd he hypothesized that it was him that could be running the entire scenario subconsciously.
He made had a line about if that was the case then the protagonist will get a happy ending because he cant stand unhappy endings.

Also are we going to get a index with links?

Wish I had some way to view invis text easily on a iPad - I seem to be missing a lot of what is going on.

You aren't missing much if you read the comments. At least for the last several chapters, most of the invisitext has been copied and made visible by other readers.

Chapter Sixty-Six

The Ice Dome was covered in sooth for the most part, but already pieces of it were being broken off, as the volcano's threat was over. As Anna and I neared the now opened road, the first thing that came into view was a frantic Elsa.
Mostly, she was yelling at the top of her lungs that she'd be going herself to find us and then she'd break both of Anna's legs for trying something like getting a wounded man out of the infirmary.
Anna nervously chuckled as we wobbled our way to the center of the village.
"And I want all the sleds available-"
"Elsa," Anna said.
"Not now, Anna," Elsa rebuked her, "I'm trying to mount a rescue for you and Sh-"
She turned, sharply, and her eyes widened.
"Anna! Shade!"
And then she slapped Anna so hard it made the girl wobble and fall -since she was carrying most of my weight- and we both fell on the ground.
"Ouch! What was that for?!" Anna yelled.
"Because you're a prat! An insensitive sister! Do you have any idea how worried I was?! And you even took Shade along! He can't even walk properly, but no, you had to go on a grand adventure! And he can't even talk right now, so I'm sure you just pulled him along without even asking him! What am I ever going to do with you?!"

I tried to speak, but of course, my voice wasn't back yet.
"You're not our mother!" Anna yelled back at her, "You can't tell me what to do! I'm no longer a child!"
"I'm the Q-"
They began to bicker, drawing nearer to one another as they raised their voices.
I sighed, and gestured at a random villager to come help me up.
Forgud gladly stepped out of the crowd to hoist me, and as he did, I gestured for him to bring me closer to the two bickering princesses.
"And-"
"No, you-"
And then, firmly, I gripped both of them by the back and threw them one against the other, hard.
Their heads went 'gonk' and as they both ouched and winced, rubbing their foreheads, I glared at both of them with the chain holding me in position after the event.
"She started it!" Anna and Elsa said at the same time.
My chain rattled, and I snapped it on the ground, leaving behind a clearly visible imprint as well as a crackling sound.
They both bristled.
"Hug."
I croaked out.
They both blinked. "Uh?"
"HUG." I snarled, coughing out another metallic chip -what the hell was wrong with my throat?!
"I said..." I croaked, my throat feeling as if something had ground its way through it. "Hug."
"No way," Anna said, crossing her arms over her chest. "She has to say she's sorry!"
"No, you have to say you're sorry," Elsa replied firmly. "You never think before acting, do you have any idea how worried-"
"Blah, blah, blah, a princess doesn't do this and that," Anna replied. "You're such a bother! Can't you loosen up once in a while?!"
"You're the one who should be more demure! You can't always act like some sort of wild beast-"

I snapped the chain, making it rattle as it began to surround the two.
Forgud aptly stepped back into the crowd.
"Make peace," I said once more, as calmly as I could.
"Not until she says she's sorry for what she did!" they both yelled at the same time.
I clenched my right fist.
"Swallow your pride, both of you, and say you're sorry," I hissed out. "Because from where I'm standing, you're both at fault."
"What?! You can't be serious!" Elsa exclaimed.
"I knew you'd take her side, of course," Anna yelled back, and then blinked. "Wait, she's not right either?! Uh-"
"I'm-" Elsa began, but I continued, interrupting her.
"Being a Queen means nothing, Elsa," I said. "Being Queen isn't the most important thing in the world, just like going around like a wild beast isn't something a normal person does," I continued, looking at Anna next. "The right way is in the middle."
"What do you know about it anyway?!" Anna exclaimed, "I'm sure you don't even have someone telling you how to live your life each second of your existence!"

I laughed at that.
My shoulders trembled, and I laughed at that right in their faces.
I hugged myself as the chain rattled and grew large-looking barbed spikes, and when my eyes narrowed to thin slits, Anna took a step back.
The chain coiled like a snake, eager to pounce and prey.
And I growled softly. "You'd think that, uh," I snarled.
"Shade," Elsa said in a choked whimper, "You're...scaring me."
"Good," I replied firmly, and moved my right hand away.
As I did, the chain answered and shot out, slashing across the ground and opening a wide gouge and a crack on the road all the way to the palace itself.
The roof exploded. "You think you can hide behind your excuse of being the Queen, Elsa? Then don't worry, I'll take your excuse away. I'll tear asunder your palace, rip apart your people, and then, you'll no longer have to be Queen."
I chuckled. "Isn't that what you want? You don't want to be queen anymore, right?"
"No!" Elsa yelled, "That's not what I meant!"
"No? It's not?" I asked, and laughed. "You've been yelling it to high heaven! I'm the Queen! So I have to act like this! I'm the Queen! So Anna, you can't do that! But don't worry, Elsa, once I'm done killing all the villagers, destroying everything around you that makes you a Queen, you'll be free. Isn't that what you want, uh? To be free?"
I inclined my head to the side and laughed, as I began to float.

"Freedom! You just happen to want to be free~
Don't worry there my little girl, I see!
You wish to go about, parading and laughing too,
well if that's your wish, there's something I can do!
You think this is over?
Come on, we're not even closer!
One sister's annoying, the other's demeaning,
why not solve her problems too?
Let me see what I can do," I sang and as I did, the chain coiled around a tower of Elsa's castle.
"Do you think life's made of rights and wrongs? You'd think that, wouldn't you?
Well worry not, I'll sing you a song, because there's something I can do!"
The chain rattled back close to me, and as it did, I laughed harder.
"Shade, you've got to stop! I didn't mean it this way!" Elsa sang as loud as she could.
"Maybe I've gone over the top, but I don't want everything to away!"
"Please Shade you've got to understand, it's not that I hate my sister!" Anna sang, "But this senseless violence I cannot stand, so stop it now you mister!"
"I've got a girl who wants to be free of her weights, well then, watch my chain work!
I'll bring you to new heights, oh Elsa, watch as I go berserk!
I've got another who wishes to be free of the rules, well then, watch my chain work!
I'll make you queen of the fools, well then, watch as I go berserk!"
"Please Shade, you've got to calm down, we didn't mean it we swear!" Anna and Elsa sang at the same time. "We'll get along, all day and night, but please leave the town no worse for wear!"

I took a deep breath.
"Was it that difficult?" I asked, calmly, as I watched the two hold each other. "Do I really have to act like a menacing bastard to get you two to play along?"
I coughed a bit. "Uh, singing fixed my voice completely. Nice," I muttered.
Elsa blinked, as did Anna, and then they both hurriedly let go of one another.
"Never do that again," Elsa said firmly, "As Que-"
I raised an eyebrow.
"Uhm...Please?" she went with, and I nodded.
"Well, then, I think...this was all part of the show, gents!" Anna yelled to the scared villages which had, as I had sung, ended up hiding everywhere they could to avoid the chain's rattling.
The villagers peeked their heads out of their hiding spots, and after a brief murmur, began to clap loudly.

I exhaled in relief.
This was over.
Everything was over.
Happy, Disney, Ending.
Wait.
Wait a moment.
Where was Hans?
And Kristoff?

And then a very familiar looking Moose arrived, completely covered in soot.
My heart dropped to the bottom of my stomach.
Disney.
Disney Laws.
If you do something good, of course, you're bound to get better stuff.
But if you do something bad, especially by mistake, everyone else WILL LEARN OF IT AT THE CLIMAX.
My eyes widened as I saw Hans descend from the Moose covered in soot, followed by Kristoff.
"Oh! Hans!" Anna said, "Right, I never presented you two," Anna said quickly, looking from me to Hanz and viceversa. "This here is Hanz, a prince from the Southern Kingdom, he's been at the castle for a few..."
"Get away from him, Anna!" Hans said, raising his right hand. "I've got proof he's not what he claims he is!"
I blinked.
Wait.
Oh, that would explain Kristoff.
He...
Wasn't he...
Of course, this is a Disney movie.
When I blew up the mountain, Kristoff was there, and saw it happen, and somehow survived thanks to his proverbial status as a Disney Character.
Probably, he escaped on his moose before the laws were annulled.
And now that they were all back in full-swinging motion...

"This was all in good fun, Prince Hans," Elsa said. "He hardly wished to attack the villagers. He just wanted my sister and I to open our-"
"No, your Highness, I'm not talking about this," Hans said. "I'm talking about the mountain, he blew it up!"
"Of course he did," Anna said. "It was our plan, well, more like his plan, to stop the deadly ash cloud!"
"NO!" Hans yelled, "Tell them, my dear friend Kristoff!"
Dear friend?
"Uh..." Kristoff blinked. "Well, your Highness...I was there getting the ice ready to bring it down here to the village, when I heard yelling. By the time I found the source, that guy over there was...well, I didn't really hear it well, but he moved his hand, and then the mountain blew up. Like, one moment it was there, the next it wasn't. My reindeer Sven saved me by the scruff of the neck, but then we got sidetracked and when I came to town to talk of it...there was no way I could speak with either of you."
He swallowed thickly. "But Prince Hans listened to me, and he said if we'd manage to speak with Princess Anna, then everything would be fine, but you were gone by then, so we mounted an expedition and followed you-"
"And all for naught, because we lost ourselves in the ash cloud and came out only now, to stop this despicable being from claiming undue rewards," Hans finished the tale, and pointed a finger at me, his other hand on the sword. "Vile fiend! I-"
I inclined my head to the side.
"So...you met my brother."

They both stopped.
Elsa and Anna froze too.
Inwardly, I smiled.
Take. That.
Disney Laws or not, 'Lying' couldn't be disproved.
They couldn't prove I had been the one to do it, and they couldn't prove I hadn't been.
But if I lied outright, there would be doubt about it. On the other hand, since I was a 'Spirit' I never claimed about being the only one.
And I did have a brother.
"He always enjoyed bringing chaos to the world," I continued calmly. "I thought I had heard him, and that was why I was yelling at him when you overheard us," I said to Kristoff. "Unfortunately, I couldn't stop him in time. That's why I came back to the village wounded. And that's why I aided Anna in solving the problem. I mean, why would I cause it only to later fix it? I don't need rewards, Prince Hans. I don't want any, and I most certainly am not a mere human, as to wish any possible favor I might obtain from either of the Princesses. So, Prince Hans...couldn't you, instead of accusing me, merely ask?"
Hans opened his mouth, and then closed it. "Y-You have a brother."
"I have one hundred and twenty-three brothers," I replied calmly. "All as powerful, or even more, than I am. I am Shade, there is Night, and Blood, and Gore, and Violence. I have Demise, and Destruction, and Devastation. My brothers are Death, and Famine, and Plague, and Pestilence, and Bloodthirst, and Hatred. I have Anger, Despise, Disgust...I could go on, the list is after all of one hundred and twenty-three names, but...you catch the drill," I smiled.
And Hans paled.
I hadn't chosen names like those for no reason after all.
I was spirit.
There was no refuting there might be others.
And by giving him the most bloodthirsty names I could, I subtly warned him off.
He couldn't threaten me, because my 'brothers' were all strong and powerful. More than me.
And I could blow up mountains.

And so I smiled as Hans took a step back.
"Good boy, maybe you might be smarter than your brothers and get a throne, eventually," I remarked calmly as I took a step forward.
"But do me a favor, and remember my words," I continued softly, "Don't mess with those I choose to protect, or you'll pay for it with things that go beyond your most horrible nightmares."
And that was all the argument I needed to make Hans recoil and run away screaming.
I blinked, feigning being 'surprised'. "Oh my, I didn't intend to make him run," I looked around, and scratched the underside of my chin. "Well...cat's out of the bag, uh."
"Oh! Now that explains it!" Anna said suddenly, clapping her hands. "That's why I had an Elsa feel from you!"
"Elsa-feel?" I mouthed as Anna continued.
"You've got a brother too!"
"I have to hear about how you deal with such a large family," Elsa said suddenly, trying to change the argument. "One sister is more than enough for me, but...they sure do have colorful names, don't they?"
I exhaled. "It's not like I'm the one who chose their names." I shrugged.

And with that, the 'crisis' was over.
But Disney laws would eventually catch up to me.
They could be my greatest aid...and my most terrifying enemy.
I ended up in the infirmary's bed once more, and with a sigh, I looked at the ceiling. "So," I said. "Why are you here?"
"Do I need a reason?" Elsa asked, eyebrow raised. "So, you think I need protection?"
I blinked. "When did I say that?"
Oh hell no, Disney, fuck you.
Disney, fuck, fuck you.
Like, really, a lot, fuck you.
"You saved the city," Elsa began.
"With Anna," I replied pointedly as I inwardly began to girlishly scream. TELEPORT. NOW. ACTIVATED. EMERGENCY. BEAM ME UP, SCOTTY. FUCKING GET ME OUT OF HERE NOW.
Elsa drew neared with a satisfied smirk. "Yes, and-"
SHE'S A DISNEY CARTOON. THIS IS GOING UNCOMFORTABLE PLACES. BRING. ME. OUT.
BRING ME AWAY FROM HERE.
Affirmative
.

EH?
And the next moment, Elsa's lips probably crashed against the pillow as I disappeared before the 'End-Movie Kiss' could happen.
Yes.
Shade One, Disney Universe Laws Zero.
Now, back to the question at hand...
"Well," I said, "who are you?" I asked the thin air.
"I'd ask you the same question," a young voice replied. "This is our dungeon, you know."
I blinked.
Dungeon?
I turned.
There were large, blue walls.
"Hey, he doesn't has a health bar or a player name: that's an npc," I gazed at the figures.
There was only one figure I could with ease place a name on.

And I inclined thus my head to the side.
"Well," I remarked softly. "Well, well," I continued calmly as I smiled. "If it isn't Kirito-kun."
Yes, I added the kun.
Yes.
I am guilty of adding the Kun.
But the look of shock on Kirito's face? It was priceless.
Oh, and there was apparently Sachi nearby too -but, well, amen to that.
