Bernard Wiseman Conquers The World!

Not necessarily. I mean, what are the chances of the DG Cells being rated against the hard radiation of a GN Tau drive's unfiltered particles?

Canon says DG Cells can regen? Canon also says that not even 24th century medicine can regen body parts blown off by the Drei's beam gun. So if DG Cells are a thing in this quest, Nena's gonna be Bernie's ace in the hole against them. Salvaging the Grand Gundam's wreck might just be how the protags find out about this. Just saying.

DG Cells warrant priority investigation before part of it literally walks away though

Frankly I'm glad to let the bloody things walk away. Then I don't have to worry about anybody getting hijacked by them since we didn't go full NBC weapons protocol because we didn't know we needed to.

Canon also says that a Mobile Fighter + its pilot, both infested with DG Cells, can be taken out of commission by a main character's Finishing Move before he even gets the mid-season upgrade!

I mean, granted, none of your present Main Characters have a proper Finishing Move, but it's still worth noting.

I am still completely and utterly flummoxed that not a single one of you saw fit to call me out on that typo.

I can't make up my mind whether or not I want to fix it.

I considered it, but then you seem to get kicked around enough IRL. Not that I am above cheap shots, but that cheap shot was too cheap, IMHO.

Yes, I have moments when I pretend to be nice and pleasant. Deal with it.

[X]Contact the Archangel.
-[X]Request new orders.
-[X]Ask if there's anything they want/need/can salvage from the Grand Gundam.
-[X]Ask if you can hand your prisoner over to their custody. You'd really like to see that she's appropriately secured.

Nobody else going to vote, then?

Time to call for a tally, I guess.
Really? No-one thought to check for invisitext?

The present voting stands thusly:

[X]Contact the Archangel.
9
-[X]Ask if there's anything they want/need/can salvage from the Grand Gundam.
7
-[X]Request new orders.
3
-[X]Ask if you can hand your prisoner over to their custody. You'd really like to see that she's appropriately secured.
4

Anyone who wants to change their votes to include or exclude a certain line, last chance to do so.

Incidentally, with Iron-Blooded Orphans currently airing on Toonami, there is now a nonzero chance of that show making an appearance in this quest.

Also, I have made zero progress on the update, and I'm sorry for getting your hopes up.

Your radar doesn't show any other enemy units in the immediate area, so you contact the Archangel. "I'm sure you've got your hands full already, but I've taken an enemy Mobile Armor pilot as a prisoner.... any chance you could take custody of her for the time being?"

Capt. Ramius replies almost immediately. "Understood. I'll grant you permission to come aboard and drop her off. Afterward, I'd like for you and Mr. Curran to secure the area. Afterward, we'll see if there's anything we can salvage from that Mobile Armor."

Her expression turning to one of discomfort, she continues, "We'll ask Miss Trinity to join you once she's calmed down."

You nod. "Got it."

Aboard the Archangel....

You're just about to open up your Zaku's cockpit to transfer the prisoner over, when seemingly every alarm on the ship starts blaring. "Damn it, what now?!"

A message comes in through all comm frequencies. The speaker is a well-built man with long, blue hair and a deep, gruff-sounding voice.

"AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! It seems I might have found some worthy opponents after all! But you're still a little too green for my tastes, so I'll just leave you all with a little preview of what's to come."

Seconds later, the sky becomes awash with shimmering particle-waves, and every combat zone within detection range - other than the one you're in - proceeds to go deathly silent.

Countless Mobile Suits just...... disintegrated, as if those particle waves just washed them out of existence. Only one other unit still shows up on radar, its IFF identifying as the Turn X, piloted by Gym Ghingnham.

The man laughs again, before his machine abruptly vanishes from all means of detection.

[]What the hell was THAT?!
[]Screw this, you're getting the hell out of here!
[]Check on the status of your comrades. Hopefully, they haven't been affected by.... whatever that was.

Y'know, I have to admit -- I'm actually kind of surprised that no-one appears to have commented on the invisitext in post 7. Granted, that was a long-ass time ago, but still....

Well, it sounded like standard Gundam crazy so...

And poor, poor Nena. Stolen to here freshly from the death of her brothers.

The Moonlight Butterfly. There's dodging a bullet, and then there's not being anywhere near this thing.

Depends on how you define "standard" when it comes to Gym. Most antagonists have grand plans or schemes, whether they're nihilistic or a future for something. Gym just wants endless war because that's all he believes in.

The fact that he and Yazan Gable are essentially best friends should tell you more than enough about what kind of man he's like though.

Heh. Fun idea: If Setsuna is to appear here, he should be in that Flag with giant GN Condenser from the start of A Wakening of Tailblazer. As shittiest mech he ever flew.

Wait, it's not GN Condenser. It's giant booster.

Which invisitext? There was two.

[jk] Clean your pants before doing anything else.

Ok, seriously.

You quickly open your radio to broadcast on the open, all-purpose frequency. "This is Wiseman! Did anybody get caught up in that... whatever it was?!"

Captain Ramius appears to have had the same idea, taking only a second longer to implement it than you did. "Archangel to all units! Status report!"

The replies come in quickly, though for a moment or two there appears to be some atmospheric interference.

[Ne-- -----ty, I'm o--y! GN --rtic-- h---ing a b-z-r-- --act---!]

[M-rk Curran, -- damage!]

[Aina Sahalin! My electronic systems rebooted by themselves, but everything seems to be in order!]

A moment later, the Archangel reports that the ship hasn't sustained any damage either. Well, that's a relief.

Now, it's time to hopefully try and get some answers....

Later, in the Archangel's briefing room....

You've seated yourself around a table, having been invited onboard by Captain Ramius. Also in the room are Commander Badgiruel, Mark, Aina, and Nena.

"For the benefit of our newest associates," the Captain says while indicating you and Aina, "let's go over the facts as we know them. To begin, as far as we've been able to discern, we don't appear to be anywhere in the Earth Sphere as we know it. Additionally, in our discussions with Mark and Nena, it seems to be the case that we all hail from different universes."

You blink, attempting to process that. "Different universes? What makes you say that, Captain?"

"Well~," Nena interrupts with a roll of the eyes, "for one thing our computers all have different calendar systems in their data records. The Archangel crew say it's Year 70 of the Cosmic Era, Mark says it's Year 200-something of the Universal Century, and my systems read as being 2308 Anno Domini."

You're shocked to hear that Mark apparently comes from over a hundred years in your future, and Aina seems particularly interested in that nugget of information as well.

[]Volunteer that you come from the year UC 0080, and... honestly, you just can't help yourself but to ask Mark if he knows how the One-Year War ended. ....although given the design of his Mobile Suit, you can probably take a guess.
[]Set that aside for later. It's interesting, but not an immediate priority.
-[]Ask if there have been any ideas for getting everyone back to their own timelines.
-[]Ask why the Archangel doesn't seem to have any Mobile Suit pilots of its own.
-[](write-in)
