Beneath Celestial Depths (An Arpeggio of Blue Steel Quest)

Was the baguette thing that big in the old quest? It didn't really feel like I was reading about Surcouf, it was more like a meme version of her.
Houston didn't really know much about Surcouf. Now that you are Surcouf, you get the full picture on her personality, thought processes, and... hobbies.

The database is now yours! Hon hon hon hon hon hon!
"Here you go, darling!" you beam proudly, "Eat up!"

Mary just stares warily at the piece of bread, hesitantly replying, "Um... that's made out of Nanomaterials, right? Should I really be eating that?"

"You eat radioactive strawberries, dear, it's not like this is going to hurt you anymore than that," you giggle in amusement. The dear is just shy! Nobody can resist your baguettes!

But she does! She shakes her head and tries to push the bread back to you!
You shall not forget this slight.

"Hmph," you narrow your eyes at the ungrateful Design Child, "Very well. But should I procure the ingredients to bake a proper loaf, you shall try it. Is that understood?"

She nods, and you're placated. For the moment. You do eat the entire baguette in front of her, however, savoring each and every fluffy, warm bite.
Mary looks decidedly uncomfortable all the while.
Something is very wrong here. Mary shouldn't be afraid of that food.
Apparently, whatever you did with Habbakuk causes disarray within the Fog. The American task force that was sent to the North Pole was nearly decimated by the Scarlet Fleet, only saved because Blue Steel cut in and interrupted the ambush. However, as the Americans retreated, they noticed that both Blue Steel and the Scarlet Fleet lost coordination, some ships becoming erratic in behaviour while some just sank on the spot, their markings dying like an old lightbulb.
The Americans skirmished with Blue Steel and the Scarlet Fleet over the next few months, but the Fog had entirely disappeared, vanishing off into unknown regions or sinking mysteriously. Eventually, Blue Steel clashed one last time with Scarlet Fleet and then set a course for Antarctica, disappearing. The Americans didn't track them, as they were preoccupied with Scarlet Fleet which chose to forcibly take the Hawaiian islands. The US had only just barely set down there to evacuate what few people remained, before beating a quick retreat.
... well fuck. When we absorbed Habbakuk, we fucked with everyone's union cores. We probably drove more than a few bug-fuck insane, gave othersthe equivalent of brain damage, and those mark-less ones suffered Spontaneous Core Failure. The Fog probably just got deleted wholesale. And now we have both Scarlet Fleet and Blue Steel pulling their own open/secret Alpenfestung. If they're not going to try and kill us on sight, they will once they learn what we did to Habbakuk.
Insane difficulty, forever alone. Almost wish we sabotaged humanity now.

Um.

This isn't all that much new information. Well, the Fog part, at least. It was back in Depth 3, I think...

Depth 3 said:
Shortly after your victory, all Fog ships went dormant. The writer seems fairly pleased by that, to your irritation, but you suppose you can't expect much better of humans. There's a decent amount of information about the battles, interactions, and negotiations between the opposing forces immediately after the battle, but nothing of much use to you. It appears that both Blue Steel and the Scarlet Fleet made it through intact. You take the first half as good news, but the latter is rather disappointing...you suppose they'll probably be a problem for you, soon enough.

Granted I forgot about that until I reread this quest two weeks ago, but it's a thing. And even if it isn't entirely true, somebody has to believe it to have published it, and it's more likely that not that it is true, with perhaps some exceptions. It's those exceptions we should be wary of, if there are any.

Thinking on it now... the JTN must be pretty empty if there aren't any Fog ships. Especially if neither Iona nor us were awake to run it.

You've also gotta wonder what happened to Mental Model-only Fog like Haruna and Kirishima, if every other Fog ship deactivated after we ate Habby.

Going inactive is different from Union Core fuckery, and Scarlet Fleet/Blue Steel are very much not 'intact'. They are maimed, insane, and bunkered down on an island fortress against a world that wants nothing more than to finish totally exterminating them.

[X] You have full access of the facility now. With the full manifest from the armory, you should...
-[X] Install the weaponry into your hull and load up on ammunition as well.

[X] Your interior is a mess and it looks like something you're incredibly unfamiliar with. Maybe you should get Mary to help you and the Subnodes (tiny Surcoufs) to help you clean up.

@TheBleachDoctor
How much would have changed if we had chosen to sabotage the humans instead?

Well, we'll just have to try and make sure they never learn of it.

Mmm. That's true. And there's the isolation + time factor to add in there as well. The Universal Insanity Multiplier, if you will.

I have a feeling that Shouzou (or any of his just-as-dickheaded successors considering how long it's been) is not going to be very happy when they find out we're still alive.

... Now I want a photo of his face when he does. :V

(Though I really hope that won't be for a while)

Oooh weapons. That's good.

Must... resist... cute... chibi... Mental Models.

[X] Let Mary have another go at [Command] simulations. She has the potential after all. Certainly a rough diamond.

[X] Show Mary to conduct espionage. Basic skillset for any aspiring megalomaniac.

I'd like to show Mary the basics of Surcouf's bread and butter. It would also help in getting her more familiar with us as a ship.

I'm just hoping against hope Chihaya told good stories about us to his kids.

I'm going to ask this since i'm a bit confused, how many minor actions can we take for each turn? Since most of the time we can take multiple options and sometimes we only had what seems 1 action taken. (I'm counting things that are basically extensions for that action.)

Sorry for possibly being an idiot.
