Bella Gerant Alii, A Leviathan Quest

If we don't think Serbian peasantry could handle Light Cav Walkers without extensive support- who do we think could have done it? Von Erlanger was suspiciously quick to try and deny any Bosniak involvements, but as far as I know Bosniak regiments were incredibly brave and had next to no reliability issues. Course, I understand that historically they were almost all infantry regiments- but is that the case in Leviathan as a setting?

Crappy mortars are one thing, and Von Erlanger dismissing how crappy they were is even more suspicious, but light walkers and the expertise to pilot them is another.

At a guess? Probably industrial workers. Individuals who have controlled loader mechs and the like, with enough skill to move without stumbling. A bit more instruction from a few agreeable army pilots, a number of gunners, and you have "a" force of walkers.

Anyway, a vote

Because whoever is out here probably won't be able to spy on telegrams, but will absolutely intercept our mail on the ground or in the air.

Aright, having reread things, the Kaiser was told that the crew of the train we are to investigate was gunned down in total. This is not generally the work of the common bandit as... Well, it gets special attention from the Monarch. Either we are dealing with "dead men tell no tales" types who have secrets to hide (their identity, heraldry, equipment, whatever) or this is a very angery ideological movement, the heights needed to reach that state likely inferring some level of interference. Such as the governor intentionally causing the local garrison to become "widely hated" through reprisals or other such acts after being promised to keep his position if "someone" were to annex the region. For peacekeeping, liberating the population, and other assorted platitudes that are half right and half nice sounding garbage meant to sway public opinion.

With that in mind tracking down the walkers themselves seems to be the first major goal, beside maybe looking into the governor for seditious thoughts and actions, as that represents a great deal of military force for any rebellion while also needing a number of conditions in order to stay operating. The purchase of fuel and parts from over the border maybe, but finding hidden supply lines is more within the skillsets of our alpine troops than combing through villages for HUMINT in our current CoIn operation.

Contact was sus as hell and I don't want to do what he suggested.

I'm liking the discussion I'm seeing so far! I'll keep the vote open for another couple days. Feel free to weigh in, I'll do my best to answer any questions people have in a timely manner. One piece of housekeeping: if possible, I'd prefer if people try and vote for their next action and the preferred message to Alek in the same post.
