And a real, genuine, high-quality blowtorch is probably a higher intensity heat than is allowed.
I wonder if there are going to be designs inspired by the Razor... Looking over old Robot Wars videos, it seems like the powerful pincher type thing was pretty effective against most other designs.
Yeah, I guess 'Piercer' is a good term for it.'Crusher' or piercer bots? There was a good one that got out early in the lastest battlebots series. And by 'good one,' I mean Photon Storm (a new version of a Robot Wars vet), it faced the very drumbot in the above video, successfully grabbed and impaled it, but missed anything major, and Minotaur preventing it from getting another shot, but slightly different positioning and it'd have won solid.
You know, we really should move this to the battlebots thread
RNC coverage interfered with my DVR's recording of last week's Battlebots episode.
....
Thanks a lot for that, Donald.
Unless Hillary breaks Donald's new record for longest nomination acceptance speech in US history now, probably less than the RNC.What are the odds the DNC coverage will do the same thing this week?
That's weird. Nightmare isn't supposed to win. He's just supposed to look scary and lose big. I mean even his famous win in Battle Bots classic knocked him out too.
I think beta might be ta might be first hammer weapon I've seen on battle bots that seems to actually be effective.
Edit: Alternate title for the past two episodes "Fuck Your Brackets"
Chomp actually just murdered Captain Shrederator too, I was surprised at the efficacy of the hammers today as I'd basically written them off against 'real' opponents.
I mean I can see the want to avoid push bots as push bot vs push bot matches tend to be really boring, but I think the primary weapon rule is stupid. Also for Season 3 there needs to be some serious rule changes because damn some of the rules are really damn stupid.
That's true, but Captain Shrederator is a full body spinner, it's just as likely that most of the damage was self inflicted.Chomp actually just murdered Captain Shrederator too, I was surprised at the efficacy of the hammers today as I'd basically written them off against 'real' opponents.
Admittedly Battlebots is entertainment first and a legit sport second . But there needs to be a compromise that doesn't led to stuff like Brutus Winning because it's weapon was on and nothing else.I mean I can see the want to avoid push bots as push bot vs push bot matches tend to be really boring, but I think the primary weapon rule is stupid.
I agree. I think the better system to encourage more damaging weapons would be rather than making aggression tied to primary weapon only damage should count slightly more than the other two categories. While that does favor powerful weapons more, right now damage effectively counts twice as there is no real difference between damage and aggression other than the fact that you can score the latter with useless weapons.Admittedly Battlebots is entertainment first and a legit sport second . I have honestly no idea why people are so bent out of shape over Mega Tento winning.Mega Tento vs Stinger, I think I'd call it the same way. Stinger pushed Tento a bit, but did no damage, no flips. Tento took one wheel, got some hits on the others, and Stinger ended up flipped a time or two.

True enough, but my gut says that it would have been a split decision under the old point system as well.Stinger definitely had the match under control, unfortunately Mega Tento countered Stinger's main offensive method by virtue of being very big.
True. When Tento got serious, Stinger started having some problems.True enough, but my gut says that it would have been a split decision under the old point system as well.
Stinger's problem was making a minibot. It lost it's dynamism.True. When Tento got serious, Stinger started having some problems.
Minibots are often quite useless.Stinger's problem was making a minibot. It lost it's dynamism.
